FRANCE, PARIS 2023.
chap 1. clumsy and confident sisters !

"Do you believe in magic?"

A figure of an older Chinese man with dark brown eyes, grey hair, and a growing mustache with a goatee sparks a match on fire, to bring warmth and light inside the room he was currently in.

"I am Wang Fu, the guardian of magical gems called The Miraculous."

He reaches his hand out with the match, and used it to light a candle on fire, as a round, glowing box of the Miraculous gems was presented on the table in front of him.

"Hiding extraordinary powers over the centuries, the Miraculous have been granted to the greatest heroes, to protect the world from evil."

The Miraculous gems all come together in the middle of the air, as they began to travel around in circle with each other, and created a magical light show of bright colours.

"Among them, one is most feared,
for it creates Akumas!"

One of the gems separated from the group as it looked to be a moth pin, that had a purple aura to it, and span around in a fast circle, as dark butterflies started to fly out of it.

"Dark butterflies capable of turning anyone with even a hint of anger into a terrifying monster!"

All the dark butterflies flew into a figure that seemed to full of conflicted emotions, and once the butterflies reached him, he transformed into a villain.

"To stop this evil, two rival heroes must rise."

Two of the Miraculous appeared away from the group of them again, as one had a scarlet aura to it, and the other had a neon green aura to it. The gems shifted into two hologram figures of masked heroes, that met in the middle for a loving embrace, arms around each other tightly.

The figures disappeared back into the gems of a ring, and two ear rings, that glowed the same colours once the figures were absorbed back into them.

"United, these two Miraculous possess the ultimate power! One even stronger then death. But could such selfless hearts find their courage in time?"

.....

In the early morning, Paris wakes up to a serene atmosphere enveloped in a gentle hue of soft sunlight. The city's enchanting charm unfolds as cafes start opening their doors, and the aroma of freshly baked pastries and brewed coffee warts through the air.

The tranquil Seine River flows gracefully, reflecting the famous landmark of the Eiffel Tower, the iconic bridges, and historic buildings that line its banks.

Birds chirp merrily, and the bell tower rings, adding to the melody of the awakening city, and the faint sounds of footsteps echoes as early risers begin to wander the coddled streets.

Inside the well known bakery shopped called Boulangerie Patisserie, Tom Dupain was placing freshly cooked croissants on plates onto the display table along with other foods. Beside him, his wife Sabine also sat down some plated sweets ready to be brought by the civilians.

Once that was finsished, she sighs with a proud look and glanced up to her husband, who wore a smile back down to her. His eyes moved to the stairs, and gasped happily spotting the two figures walking down them, "There they are!"

(Y/N) was getting dragged down the stairs by her twin sister, Marinette who was fusing over if her slightly younger sister had everything today for school, already knowing how forgetful she could get sometimes. (Y/N) had her (H/C) hair half up like usual, followed by a jacket over her shirt, pants that were comfortable, high-tops, and her lucky charm bracelet that was dormed on her left wrist inside Marinette's hand.

"Girls, your breakfast is getting cold!" Tom remarks to his two daughters, as he just past by them with another plate of food for the table.

"Sorry, dad, we're not hungry today." Marinette answered in a slightly strained way, as she was trying to help her sister shove her drawing book inside her packed bag, and shared a high-five when it fitted inside.

(Y/N) gave Marinette a look at her words, as she wanted the food, but knew they couldn't be late for school, and sighed sadly to herself realising this, "Sorry Pa, we gotta go."

"That's fine, honey. I'll grab some croissant for the road." Tom calls over his shoulder to his youngest, back facing them as he worked on the baking goods.

Both sisters stiffed their walks listening to their fathers words, and paused mid way putting the bags over their shoulders, "The road?" (Y/N) squeaked out, and covered half of her face with her blue bag.

"Oh, I am so excited to take you to school!" Tom appeared right in front of them, a large grin across his mouth as he touched his fingertips together.

"Wha- No! No, no!" Marinette shook her head, and began to back up with (Y/N)'s figure hiding behind hers like usual once again, "Dad, this is not the day. We're going there alone. You don't want them to make fun of us, do you?"

Tom deflated a little bit, and pursed his lips as he stuttered, "Of course not, honey!" He went to walk away which caused the twins to sigh a little in relief, but grimaced at his next words, "I'll come get you after school. I made beautiful sweets for all your friends, and I didn't forget your favorite cat eared cakes, (N/N)!" He motioned excitedly to the few cupcakes sitting on the table, which had green frosting, sprinkles, and little cat ears on top of the frosting.

"Oh, no." (Y/N) whispered to herself with wide eyes, pulling her bag up to hide her face more behind Marinette in embarrassment. She apperacted her fathers cooking very much, but she didn't want to deal with more bullying from people at school over this.

"Pa, how many times to I have to remind you?" She looked down sadly, and grasped her sisters sleeve in between her fingers,"Mari has all the friends, I have zero because I can't make any."

Marinette frowned sadly at her sister, and pulled her next to her instead of behind in the shadow, as she interlaced their fingers, and gave (Y/N) a reassure smile, that she somewhat sends back halfheartedly.

"Tom," Sabine spoke in a knowing tone, and turned to her husband as she motioned to something over in the oven, "I smell something burning."

The said male gasped in horror, placing his hand up to his mouth, "No, no, no! Not the baguettes!" He rushed back to where the cooking area was to check up on them, leaving the mother and daughters alone.

Sabine walked up to her younger daughter with a soft smile, and tilted her chin up to look at her with a finger, "I'm sorry, Mom. I know Dad means well, but-" (Y/N) trailed off in a nervous way, and felt Marinette's hand squeezing hers for comfort.

"What's wrong, honey?" Their mother questioned in concern, glancing between her daughters as she furrowed her brows, ignoring the customers around them.

"I'm worried they'd make fun of us." (Y/N) answered the adult in a smaller voice, letting go of her sisters hand to place her bag around her shoulders, "I mean they don't bully me much now because of Mari, but could you imagine what they'd think? I feel bad enough that Marinette has to deal with my bullies, which makes people not enough like her-"

Sabine cut off her fast paced rant by placing her warm hands on (Y/N)'s shoulders, and made her daughter face her directly, "Honey, stop worrying about what other think. Your sister doesn't care about not being liked either, because you come first." Her blue eyes looked to Marinette, who smiled in agreement, taking her sisters hand again.

"There's only one thing you have to listen to." Sabine placed both of her hands on her daughters hearts, chuckling softly as they look at her surprised.

(Y/N) nervosuley chewed on her bottom lip, thoughts already thinking of what could go wrong today, as overthinking everything was her specialty.

She shook those away, and grinned the best she could at her family, "You're right, let's go Mari." She declared in a sudden confident way, and went to march up to the door but didn't see how it was closed, resulting in her slamming into it with a huffed grunt.

Marinette and Sabine cringed in sympathy watching this, before they broke out into a small laughing fit, seeing the girls weak thumbs up from a heap on the floor.

Marinette heaved her sister up by the arms, and lopped their forearms together, "C'mon, dork." She says through a fond chuckle, waving goodbye to their mother and now walked out the open door to the bakery.

"What I could be If I believed in me."

Many people were out and about in front of the shop, from cars on the roads, people riding bikes, taking photos of the beautiful scenery, and some sat down on the ledge of the water fountain placed in the middle of a roundabout.

"Maybe today, I'll find a way."

(Y/N) didn't see where she was going again as her head was in the clouds looking at birds flying above, and didn't hear Marinette's warning, when the girl bumped into a painter in the middle of the pathway.

She sheepishly apologised with a nervous smile, fingers gripping her bag straps to calm herself down as Marinette takes her forearm again to lead her away, and scowled at the painters rude words to her twin.

"My dreams will set me free. I can't make up my mind. Tired of getting left behind. What I could be."

A group of civilians walking into the pathway leading down underneath where the subway station was, and ended up bumping into the twins. This sent (Y/N) toppling over into Marinette's side, who caught her quickly, and patted her head fondly hearing her embarrassed groaning.

"I believe in me."

The sisters had stopped for a cup of tea near the high-school quickly, as they sat at a table and a waiter came up to them to pour the tea into their cups. They picked up the fulled cups, and (Y/N) yelped when the warmth of the tea burnt her tongue, as Marinette smacked her forehead at her sisters ways.

"What would it be like. To live somebody else's life. Those daydream don't last."

Once they were finished with the drinks, the twins were getting up to leave and start walking again, as another waiter was placing a white cloth over a table. They just run in the middle of it, and (Y/N) rammed into a waiter serving food, which sent it all over a woman ordering it.

She cringed hearing the woman shrieking at the food all over her, ducking back with Marinette who chuckled, always loving the chaos that happened around her sister. Though she did feel terrible, knowing had badly (Y/N) was effected by her timid ways. It caused a lot of self doubt, and anxiety.

"And they all fall apart."

While backing away from the scene before them, (Y/N)'s elbow accidently pressed into a trucks button, which sent the back falling down, and barrels of something to come rolling out. The sisters' eyes went wide, and yelled as they were tried to balance on the rolling barrels across the road, fumbling to grab onto each other, and a little girl giggles in amusement watching.

"Pretty fast! The merchants arrive."

The sisters were happily strolling down a cobble stairwell downwards, that had many food places along the sides, and laughs were heard all around from the many people at buying from them. (Y/N) grabbed her bag traps in her hands, and looked around the area with curious eyes, as Marinette smiled warmly seeing her sister like that.

"They know exactly how and why they do what they do."

One of the merchants waved excitedly in greeting to the twins passing his shop, as they returned it with grins, and continued on their walking down the pathway to school, until they arrived at a lamp post.

"I wish that could be true. For me too!"

Loud yelps escaped Marinette's mouth, hands holding onto dear life around (Y/N)'s waist, as she was now cycling on a bike om a bridge across the water, and wasn't the best at directing the transport either.

"What I could be If I believed in me. Maybe today, I'll dream a way. And everyone will see."

Her (H/C) hair blew around in the wind a little bit, as she was showing a new sketch of a food to her sister behind her, the two now off the bike and walking along another pathway. Marinette would either tell her a few tips, or exclaim how pretty the design was, even if it was food, that literally just made them hunger.

"The colors in my mind. All the shapes and the designs. They'd be set free. If I believed in me!"

A few of their old friends from school sitting around a table at a cafe, waving at them in greeting when they spotted the twins walking past. (Y/N) uttered a yelp seeing this, and quickly scrambled behind her sister to hide, while holding her lucky bracelet around her wrist.

Marinette awkwardly waved back as she smiled through her teeth, putting up with the awkwardness for the sake of her shy sister, which she'd do any day without no second guesses.

"I never know the words to say. I can't show my face. I just know I'd be so out of place."

(Y/N) slowly walked up to a beautiful white gown dress sitting in a glass window of a shop, as she cradled her book full of her thoughts, and drawings to her chest. She looked at the dress with a longing frown, wishing one day she'd be that confident enough to be able to wear it.

Marinette face dropped into a guilty one seeing her twins expression from behind, and walks up to her to lop their forearms together. (Y/N) turns to her sister, and saw the reassuring smile plastered over her lips, making the (E/C) eyed girl send a small one back, with one last glance at the dress before they went to walk on.

"But how would it feel, to make all of my daydreams real. But I hesitate. And the moment goes by. It's too late."

.....

The college Francoise Dupont was filled with loud chats, laughs and overall was packed outside the entrance with students lingering outside instead of going in to start the day off.

Nino came skidding through on his skateboard with a grunt around a corner, high-fiving Alix on his way past with a laugh, and patted Nathanial on the back who was drawing in his book, "'Sup, dude!"

Over on the other side of the entrance area near the stairs, (Y/N) was currently close to passing out from an anxiety overload seeing all the students around. She held onto her sisters sleeve tightly, and tried to keep her face hidden away in her locks over her forehead.

Marinette slipped her hand into her sisters one with a strong squeeze, and sent her a confident smile in hopes to ease her worrying a little. They shuffled back when two people came running past them, and it made (Y/N) bump into someone behind her, which caused the girl to yelp with more panicked breathing.

"It's alright, (N/N)." Her twins soft voice caught her attention for a second, as she looked back at the blunette's still smiling face, "I'll be right here, every step of the way."

The (H/C) haired girl swallowed harshly, trying to calm her beating heart down in her chest, and exhaled shakily as she moved up next to Marinette, looking straight ahead at the stairs to school. And as she was about to take a bold step forward, Nino came skating through on his board, "Oh, watch out!" He tried to warn with Marinette, but had already knocked the poor girl over.

(Y/N)'s balance was thrown off and it sent her bumping into Chloe behind her in result. This caused the cup of coffee in her hand to go flying out, and one drip of the liquid landed on her shirt, making Chloe shout in disbelief, along with everyone else gasping.

Chloe groaned under her breath, fingers twitching with now growing rage for what just happened, "You just ruined my Gabriel Agreste sweater!" She screehed, and snapped her head to the girl who caused this.

Marinette was instantly in front of her nervously stuttering sister, keeping an arm outstretched to block Chloe from her, and sneered at the rich snob, "Maybe if you weren't worrying about yourself all the time, you'd pay attention to your surroundings!"

The students gasped at the sudden words from Marrinette's mouth, not surprised at it though because she would always get this protective over (Y/N), who was always thankful for it, but wanted to defend herself for once.

Chloe scowled at the blunette, and marched over to get right in their faces, "(Y/N)!" She began to try grabbing the girl's shirt collar, as Marinette tried to shove Chloe away, "You are both so-"

Alya clears her throat over Chloe's words, making the blonde pause and turned her head to see Alya holding up her phone to film them, knowing this would easily stop the bully, "Don't stop on my account. I'm just a fly on the wall."

"....gonna be my new best friends." Chloe finished off through gritted teeth, letting go off the twins arms and brushed off imagery dirt off (Y/N)'s shoulders, "It's just a priceless cashmere sweater. Come one, Sabrina." She snaps her fingers together to the red head behind her, "Let's get to class. We have much to study."

Marinette gave one last dirty look at Chloe who returned it right back, and (Y/N) flinched a little bit when it landed on her, as she was peeking over her sister shoulder to watch Chloe and Sabrina walk off to class.

.....

Now walking through the corridors of inside the collage packed full of students, the newly trio were talking amongst themselves while heading to their first lesson of the day.

"You didn't have to do that." (Y/N) spoke up quietly from in between them, and rubbed her arm sheepishly as she never expected someone other then Marinette to help her anxiety written self.

Alya rose her eyebrows up from underneath her glasses, "Oh, sorry." She began in a teasing tone, and smiled between the sisters, "Did I need to take a number behind the line of friends coming to your rescue?"

"I mean, I was handling it just fine-" Marinette interpeted with a confident smirk to herself, but paused spotting (Y/N)'s sadden frown glancing at the floor, and wrapped an arm around her shoulders loosely, "We're joking. You know I'll always defend you from the bullies."

The other girl watching them laughed warmly at their interaction, realising the rumours about their strong sibling bond was true, "Name's Alya." She held out her hands for them to shake in greeting.

"Thanks, I..." (Y/N) placed her slightly shaky hand in her one as her sister followed, and they both shook Alya's hand, "I'm (Y/N), and that's my sister Marinette." She gestured to her sister once their handshaking was done.

"You have a rep around here, a way too kind girl who's a magnet for catastrophe." Alya talks to the (H/C) haired twin, and chuckles once more through a grin, "You do not disappoint. Some people have to try to fail that hard."

She laughs nervously as she rubs the back of her head, "Yeah, well, I try..." She trailed off sheepishly, and gripped her bag straps with a small shrug, "not to. You might want to stay away."

"Are you kidding? I live for the action shots." Alya brushed off her comment with a wave of her hand, and pointed two fingers at the sisters in front, "I'm gonna stick to you two like glue."

The school bell rings which signaled time for class, but (Y/N) wasn't focused on that as she was more thrilled that someone other then Marinette, wanted to be her friend, instead of avoiding her or never talking to her.

"Think us three were meant to be." Alya wraps three off her fingers together to show them, and gives the two a wink before walking off a bit ahead of them, leaving the sisters to smile at each other.
