โ•ฐโ”ˆหš ยท ยฐ . ย I thought I knew what madness looked like. I could've sworn that I had witnessed it before with my own eyes. I thought that I had seen it on people, displayed it on their faces, found it in their actions, in their feelings...

I was wrong. Oh, how wrong had I been.

I had thought that the vampires that had escaped the tomb were mad. Became insane front the century and some more passed locked underneath the Fell church. All that time in the dark, feeling their bodies giving in to their thirst, their veins turning to sandpaper without any nourishment... I could understand their anger, the madness that all of that created.

But I was wrong about them.

At the beginning, I thought that Damon Salvatore fell under the category of mad person. But noโ€”it was much worse for him. Damon Salvatore was not mad, he was just angry with the world and his arrogance made him feel like he was on top of everyone. He just didn't care who he stepped onโ€”who he abused for his own gain.

So no, he was not mad. He was not crazy.

And then, for a long time, I thought that I was the one that was mad. The feeling of human skin against mine made bile crept up my throat, my brain almost short circuited whenever someone would only even accidentally brush their arm against mine. I felt like I needed to scratch myself raw until I could see the white bones underneath. I wasn't always like that. When I was little, sure, I was more introverted than other kids, only feeling like I could be entirely myself around my family and the chosen friendsโ€”but that changed as I grew up. Because of my Haphephobia I created a wall around myself and the rest of the world that I thought I was never going to surpass. But I did, and I had Zyran to thank for. He had made the stars brighter.

But I was wrong about myself too because as I stared at the male before meโ€”the one that kidnapped me at the Founder's Day celebrationโ€”well, I knew exactly what madness looked like.

Him. He was exactly the personification of madness.

With red hair that looked like they dripped blood once wet. Skin so translucent that I could see the purple shade of his veins underneath. Round ears decorated by many piercings and silver jewelries that was hard for me to count with how they meshed together. His eyesโ€”oh his eyes... I had never seen something so intriguing before. They called to something buried deep inside of me.

And that thought scared me to the core.

He was not sane. The male had not a crumble of sanity trapped in his brain.

Eyes like obsidian stones told a story. One of utter and complete madness.

I had not known the meaning behind that simple world of 7 letters until that moment, until him.

"Hello pet!" His grin was otherworldly, it sent my gut in total confusion. I didn't know if I needed to run or continue to stare at him for the rest of my life. "Aren't you gorgeous?" He closed the space between us until the point of his nose was almost touching my own, "Yes, yes you are. Who am I kidding, you are the most gorgeous-est person that I ever laid eyes on." He replied to his own question, snickering in amusement. He wasn't talking to me at all, he was babbling to himself. "Such a gorgeous pet." He flicked my nose, the act filled with mischief and tenderness that didn't pass unobserved by me.

I was frozen. I had not uttered a world. I had not moved a muscle, but I was sure my pupils were dilated, my cheeks flushed by his proximity and my heart was a bit too quick in my chest.

What the hell?

"Can I have a kiss now?" He asked rather eagerly.

The question, fortunately, was enough to snap me back to reality, and I unfreeze myself enough to ask dumbly. "A kiss?"

"Yeah my reward for finding you." He said as if it was obvious, a glint of silver catching my eyes as he spokeโ€”a tongue piercing. Gods have mercy on me. "You are really good at hide and seek, you know." He vigorously nodded his head, half annoyed and half proud of it... and I had absolutely no idea what he was talking about. "About..." He checked his pocket watch dangling from his pants by a silver chain. He scrunched his nose, cleaned the glass that was stained slightly in a red substance with his shirtโ€”a substance that smelled eerily similar like bloodโ€”before grinning like I was starting to think was unmistakable... him. "600 hundred years. More or less I think."

"I'm 18." That was the dumbest reply, but I was too speechless by the male to make a coherent thought.

"So you do talk. And what a pretty voice you have." He closed the space between us again until he was back again so close, invading my personal space once more. "Can I have that reward now? Please, please, pretty please with a cherry on top." His rosy lips were puckered as he couldn't wait to give me one of those too loud and obnoxious kisses.

It made me snort. He was actually... cute, endearing.

"Can I at least know your name?" I asked. I couldn't contain the smile on my lips. Begging for a kiss was not what meโ€”or probably anyone elseโ€” would have expected from madness and chaos in the form of a rather handsome man. Because he was handsome to my eyes. Not conventionally beautifulโ€”he was too sharp, high cheekbones and feral grinโ€”but he had a magnetic pull that you didn't know if you wanted to continue to look at him or look away.

"Right, right, names. I'm Rhys."

"Rhys." I tested his name on my tongue. The groan coming from Rhys was of unmistakable lust.

"Don't say my name like that pretty pet."

Ignoring the sinful sound that made me want to clench my thighs together, I spoke, introducing myself, "I'm Andromeda."

His nose scrunched as he grinned, I noticed. "Andromeda, a pretty name for my pretty pet."

I guess he will continue to call me like that, alright.

"Wait!" He suddenly yelled, and in a second, he was a few steps backโ€” like he had teletransportation himself away. "The Andromeda is like a star right?"

"A constellation." I corrected him.

He snapped his fingers together, "Right, right." In a second, Rhys had his shirt raised up to his neck exposing the skin of upper body. He was lean with visibleโ€”even if not very definedโ€”muscles. And just on his sternum, between his pecs and various scarsโ€”and his pierced nipples with a silver bar thought themโ€”there was the mark of the andromeda. The Mate Mark.

With his chaotic energy I hadn't even had the time to feel. He was my mate.

Well, not everything made sense. I was not afraid of him, nor of his clear craziness.

The Markโ€”it was almost completely black apart from some lines made of crimson red.

Tingles spread through me as he grinned, knowingly brushing the pads of his digits against the Mark. I gasped at the feeling of himโ€”it felt the same way as if his finger were caressing my wings.

"Rhys." I said through a gasp and narrowed eyes, a warning coated with lust that I tried to suppress.

He snickered, amused by my glare, nevertheless he lowered his shirt back down.

I took a breath, calming my quickly rising arousal before exposing my left arm with all my mate Marks, and there above the Orion constellationโ€”Raden's markโ€”and below the Lyra constellationโ€”a mark that I still had no idea to who it belonged, there was the Auriga Constellation. The Mark pulsed on my skin the more I stared at it.

"That's mine!" Rhys suddenly gasped with excitement, taking my arm in his hands and brushing his fingers against his constellation. Like a pained groan fell from his lips and if I didn't know first hand that it was a pleasurable feeling and not one of pain, I would've been confused. But then, it followed a moan, his eyes rolled at the back of his head, his lips twisted in a magnificent smirk that revealed his a bit-too-sharp canine.

"Rhys, snap out of it." I hissed, eyes wide as coins. That moan had sounded entirely obscene to my ears. Dripping of sin.

In a second Rhys had blinked before meโ€”once again invading my personal space without a care of it in the first placeโ€”his nose he pressed against my neck as he took a deep breath of my scent. "All mine." His words were totally possessive, but the way his tone was. They weren't just words with how dangerous he had made them sound. It was like a threat to anyone who would ever dare to touch me.

"I have five mates." I told himโ€”informed himโ€“ gulping down the sudden nerves.

He is not gonna kill them, right? Right?

"I know, silly." He blinked again, this time to stand a couple of steps in front of me so he could look at me directly in the eyes, "Why do you think that guy that kissed you still has his heart?"

It wasn't supposed to make me smile, but it did. Well, until from the corner of my eyes I noticed a black panther jumping on my newfound mate. "Oh my god."

Rhys wasn't there when the pantherโ€”Dionysus, Raden's pantherโ€”landed her blow. No he had blinked away, teletransporting himself a couple of steps further. And he had brought me with him.

"A kitty!!" Rhys exclaimed, eyes wide with excitement at the animal that wasn't a kitty at all. Rhys blinked in front of it trying to pet it just for Dionysus to slash his arm away.

"Rhys!" Worry blossomed in my heart, but he was... laughing, his arm already healing even if blood dripped on the ground, saturating the earth with it. "Are you okay?"

"Always, pet." He grinned, patting my head twice, "don't worry your pretty little head."

"Raden!" I yelled the name of my other mate, calling him there. But as he appeared from the night, he landed on the ground in a crouch and launched himself straight at Rhysโ€”who continued to laugh. "Raden, no!" My eyes widened at the sight. "Shit."

He had bat-like wings on his back that permitted him to fly, yellow cat-like eyes, and ears of a wolf, his fingertips taking the shape of eagle's claws.

"Meda! Are you okay?" The sudden question came from Zyran who had just arrived. He threw his arms around me, not letting me go until he had stolen a kiss. It was only then that I remembered that the device had been activated only minutes prior, and that he had been in the middle of it all.

"Yeah, are you? The device..." What an awful mate I was. The thought was sudden and I tried my everything to not show it over my features.

"I'm fine, I promise." he replied, but there was the scent of smoke coming from his clothesโ€”a few holes present in his shirt.

"Then why do you smell of smoke?" I asked. Even if he was here, with me, my worry prevailed and shone in my irises.

Zyran grunted, "Later." Blue vibrant eyes glowed as he took my lips into a searing kiss. He moved like a starving beast, nibbling at my bottom lip before using his tongue to devour me. He stole my breath like he was trying to take everything he could with a single kiss.

"Hey, that's not fair. I was waiting for my kiss." We all snapped our heads towards Rhys, who had blinked away from Raden and was perched on a low hanging branch.

"Kiss?" Snapped Raden, growling towards the new male with harshness that rivaled the one of a wolf from whom ears he had stolen.

"Yeah kiss." Rhys rolled his eyes, "You know, when two people..." He puckered his lip, making some weird sounds before he motioned with his hand where Zy and I were, "Like what they were doing, ya know."

"I know what a kiss is." Again snapped Raden, lips curled into a feral snarl.

"Guys." I said before the others tried to speak more or try to kill himโ€”keyword try, because I was sure that not even together they could actually kill him. "This is Rhys." I introduced him, "My mate."

"Mate?" Raden asked. From the way his eyes never left Rhys, I was sure that he still thought that the red-haired male was one second away from blinking away and kidnap me. Again. "The Redcap is your mate?"

"Oh." Zyran grunted in his direction. His chest was vibrating with a slight, almost completely silent purr. His fear was quickly fading as he kept me in his arms. His thumb brushed the inside of my right forearm, "Which one?"

"The Auriga." I replied to my dragon telling him Rhys' constellation. The unfamiliar word that Raden spoke came to my mind, so with a questioning look, I turned to the Pรบca, "Redcap?"

"Yes, pretty pet?" As if me saying that outloud had somewhat summoned him, Rhys appeared before meโ€”a bit too close since I could feel his breath on my lips.

Yes, Rhys had no idea what personal space meant.

Zyran took a step back with me in his arms, creating enough space that I could at least look at the mad male directly in those obsidian-like eyes. "What is a Redcap?"

"I am." That didn't answer my question at all, but I was sure we would come back to that later on. "Can I have my kiss?"

"No." Raden stated through a grumble, as he stepped closer to me, this time he was in his human form. "Step back, Redcap."

"No." With a smile, Rhys said. Blinking and reappearing on the side not occupied by Zy, he laced his arm around my waist, kissing my cheek while he sent the Pรบca a mocking look. "Pretty."

My cheeks flushed pink at the action. Zyran snorted, finding my blushing amusingโ€”like alwaysโ€” before winching when I slapped his chest and sending him a narrowed glare.

Raden seethed at Rhys. "Move."

"Nope."

"Alright. Can we all calm down for a second?" I said, sneaking away from the two males that were holding me hostage. It was amusing how they both pouted at the same time. "This is-" I was interrupted when my phone rang in my pocket.

I frowned down at it, noticing my sister's name on the display. I was not going to lie, I had totally forgotten about the Salvatore brothers. Hopefully Stefan was alright, hopefully Damon wasn't. But as I answered, my heart dropped in my stomach at the news that my sister revealed to me.

Jeremy had tried to become a vampire.

We start with a new mate this season, Rhys. He is a Redcap but his powers and everything will be explained later on! I hope you are liking him already, definitely a change from the cocky attitude of Raden and the loverboy energy of Zyran. He is a chaos/madness made person and totally crazy. Raden is going to pick up any opportunity to fight with him, I just know it even if I still have to write it.

Honestly though, the guy is hot, funny and obsessed with Meda. And full of piercings.ย

ย This story will not have an updated schedule but I'll do my best. I'm going to treat this story as a palate cleanser from my other fics, you know. I hope that you guys don't mind the random updates!
