"𝐀 𝐖𝐄𝐄𝐊, 𝐎𝐑 𝐋𝐈𝐊𝐄 𝐀 𝐖𝐄𝐄𝐊𝐄𝐍𝐃 𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐍. 𝐈𝐅 𝐈𝐓'𝐒 𝐎𝐊𝐀𝐘," May said as she stood in front of Gideon and Hotch in the latter's office. It was only a few days after the last case, and she's decided, and is fully set, on heading back to La Push even just for a moment to see her family, her pack.

It was tearing her apart from the inside, not being with them. It hurt even more after she and Sam talked. All the things she'd missed, all the things she hadn't processed. It was making her sad and guilty. She's alpha, for crying out loud, and she can't even do it right. She was too caught up on being an FBI agent that she's quite literally forgotten her roots. It was...embarrassing. And she wanted—needed—to make things right.

"You're voluntarily using your vacation days?" Gideon wondered, brows furrowing in slight confusion. Like Spencer, she wasn't one to go on vacations. The both of them tended to run away from personal problems after all, which also meant they've saved up quite a lot. Even after May extended her stay in La Push during for forced medical leave, she still had quite a lot, especially compared to the others.

"Yes, Gid," she playfully rolled her eyes. "Just a couple of days, a week at most if I can. It's just...something for my peace of mind."

"About what?" Hotch asked. It wasn't like he was going to say no to her request anyway, but his curiosity is piqued now.

"Let's just say I've heard about several bad news that my family were hiding from me, and now I want to fix it."

Gideon shrugged and shared a look with Hotch. "Sure, after we finish up a consultation."

"What consultation?"

It was April now, and both DC and Quantico were getting warmer and warmer by the minute, making it harder and harder for May to regulate her body heat. She is quite literally made for the cold, and it was becoming more uncomfortable for her to wear layers just to keep up with appearances. Spencer and Hotch, of course, knowing the truth, often eyed her every time she'd fidget with her clothes, knowing that she was sweltering.

So, to make it easier for her, Spencer explained how she should wear thin clothes and bring a thin jacket, so that she could pretend to wear it when there's a breeze. She told him that it's what she's been doing for a while, but then he pointed out her constant use of denim, which is thick. Surprisingly, the two ended up on a shopping spree because of it. The new clothes somewhat changed May's overall style and appearance, as her newer outfits were a bit lighter in color.

Despite not getting to fully keep her aesthetic, she was grateful at how they helped with keeping her cool.

Wearing another white tank top, she paired it with some loose, gray slacks. Of course, she kept her sneakers. She also had a dress shirt, a 'jacket' for an 'in case'. Wearing all these slightly revealing tops had exposed her tattoo, and she's very proud of it.

"What consultation, Gid?"

Gideon shrugged. "The Seattle field office wanted us to review a series of disappearances, starting with a college student, Riley Biers. There's no apparent reason why they think the victims are connected, so they wanted our opinion."

"Okay...sure."

"So, what do we know?" Gideon asked them all. "What do we think?"

They were all in the roundtable room, sitting in their own chairs. Gideon sat in the 'front', with Hotch by his side. On his other side was JJ, who was reading through the news reports. Beside JJ was Spencer, and beside him was Elle. Then came May, and between her and Hotch, was Derek.

"High-risk victims," Spencer was the first to speak up. "Troubled teens, outcasts."

"This guy, Fred, was a total loner," May then said. "No friends, not close to his parents. His father didn't even know he was missing until a month later. Disappeared nearly a year ago."

"Bree Tanner," Derek pointed out, frowning as he read the girl's files. "Reported missing by her father a month ago. Last seen heading to Seattle. They believe she could be another victim."

"Raoul, originally from El Paso, Texas," Elle read aloud. "Headed off to Seattle for 'business' but the FBI's flagged him as a gang member. Had their eyes on him until he disappeared too."

"The Seattle field office believes that out of all the missing persons they have per year, these twenty-two are connected," Hotch pointed out.

"Well, they believe it's a cult," Gideon told them. "They believe that this cult is recruiting new members every week. They connected these twenty-two because after each of them went missing, a body shows up."

"How come the press hasn't got a wind of this? The body count alone..." JJ wondered.

"Because they kept the details close to their vests, scared of mass hysteria," Hotch cleared his throat, looking directly at May now. "Because all the bodies found died of exsanguination."

May's blood ran cold. "Exsanguination, huh? And they're scared of causing mass hysteria because...?"

"They don't want people to believe that they're being hunted by vampires."

Soon after the meeting, May found herself in Hotch's office with Spencer. The two men were sat on chairs—Hotch in his own desk chair and Spencer in the seat across from him—while May paced back and forth, practically wearing down the carpet.

The blinds were closed of course, as well as the door, giving them the privacy that was necessary for this conversation.

"Do you think it could be vampires?" Hotch asked her, a frown etched into his face. But there was a hint of fear in his usually cold, dark eyes.

"I..." May stopped her pacing and slumped down onto the couch with a huff. "I don't know. I've never actually encountered them before. But, honestly? That many bodies dropping so fast? Maybe."

"Well, what do you know about them?" Spencer wondered.

"The basics, I guess," she sighed. "Pale—pasty, really—cold, hard skin. Like diamonds. It's why our teeth are sharp when we shift, so we tear through them. All just...basic information. You can read about it in that book you have. Other than that..."

"Some reports, the ones that had the most information, said that the abductions all happened at night," Hotch pointed out. "Do they..."

May scoffed. "Vampires don't actually burn in the sun. They can walk freely among humans, which makes them more dangerous than all the fictional vampires most people know about. But you can always tell that they're not human. Unnaturally beautiful and all that."

"Hypothetically speaking, if these were vampires, what are they doing abducting random people?" Spencer looked at her with furrowed brows.

"One vampire is already hard to kill," she told the both of them. "A coven of, say, three, even more so. If all twenty-two of those victims were turned? It's a blood bath. All those people dead after an abduction, I have no doubt that they were food. This many vampires in one area...I've never heard of that happening ever. If they really were vampires, they were created for something."

Hotch sighed. "We have no confirmation if this case has anything to do with the supernatural. But given that you're gonna be there anyway, I...I want you to find out. If you can."

"Hotch!" Spencer couldn't help but shout, his tone appalled. He'd be the last person to raise his voice at a superior, but this was his best friend. "She'll be in danger!"

May sighed, eyes flicking between Hotch and Spencer for a moment before making a decision. "I...I will investigate what I can, but I can't promise anything. This many possible vampires being so close to La Push, my job will be to keep my people safe, be a member of my tribe, my pack. Not an FBI agent. But given the large number, I don't doubt that there's gonna be collateral damage."

The three of them looked at each other, nodding in agreement.

"Alright, I'll see you boys soon."

Arriving back in La Push gave May a sense of relief she hadn't felt in a while. It almost felt unreal. But she knew that it was just her own spirit that felt at home right in the rez.

Like last time, she was picked up by Sam and brought to what the pack now calls the 'Pack House', a house bought and owned by Sam and his imprint and fiancée, Emily Young. This was somewhat news to her; she had known that the teenager imprinted—a fact that she was ecstatic about—but hadn't known that they've moved in together. Regardless, it's a welcomed change.

Upon arriving, she was first greeted by Paul, who wrapped his muscular arms around her. Out of all the members of the pack, he easily became the most muscular upon shifting. Though it doesn't mean that the rest didn't bulk up. Even scrawny Quil got toned.

"I missed you," Paul uttered before even greeting her, his head buried into her neck like a child needing comfort from its mother. "It hasn't been the same since you left."

"Aw, Paul," she couldn't help but let out a little coo. "I missed you too. I hope you've gotten a bit better with your anger."

"I tried to," he huffed, pulling away from her but keeping his arms around her. "But your brother keeps testing me."

"He keeps testing all of us," Jared stated as he walked towards the two of them. He waited for Paul to untangle himself from their alpha before pulling her into a hug as well. "Disgustingly in love with Bella Swan."

May sighed as she hugged him back. "I know, Sam told me everything. We need to talk." Finally, her eyes met her brother's, who looked a little nervous. "All of us. Pack meeting."

They all eventually moved towards the dining table, each member sitting at their own chair. May was of course given the one that was at the head of the table. But before she sat, she quickly greeted Emily and thanked her for taking care of her boys without being asked to. She barely even registered her scars.

"It's the least I can do," Emily said. She handed them all some muffins before leaving the room, giving them privacy.

May looked around the room, inspecting her surroundings. It was a habit she'd picked up from her days as an agent, having to constantly be on guard, especially when chasing unsubs. It was a quaint little house, homey. And it feels like a part of the woods, not an eyesore. It smelled fresh and sweet. The scent of evergreen was always there, of course, but the rest...it just looked, felt, and smelled like home.

Finally, May took her seat. By her right was Sam, beside him was Jared, and on his right was Embry. On her left was Paul, with Quil—their newest shifter—right beside him. Jacob sat last, and instead of sitting beside Quil, he decided to sit across from his sister on the other end of the table.

"Before saying anything, I feel this odd sense that our pack will be growing soon," May admitted, relaxing onto her wooden chair. "Felt it the second I arrived."

"You know who?" Sam wondered. He never felt it, not in this kind of certainty like May. He mostly knew when it's actually happened, when the pack link extends and connects to the new member. That was how he discovered Jared, Quil, and Embry. Jacob knew because he'd talked to his sister somehow before being guided to Sam, and Paul had always been more connected to their alpha.

"I...I have an inkling, considering that there's only a few of left who are descendants who haven't shifted."

Sam sighed, sharing a look with Jared, his second-in-command in May's absence, and nodded. "We'll be on the lookout."

"Young Quileutes keep shifting younger and younger," May crossed her arms as she frowned, sadness clear in her tone. "There's something...there's something brewing, and I don't like it. But...we don't have a choice."

Paul made a face as he nodded at her words. "There's only one thing that can fully trigger us to shift, and that's the leeches."

"Speaking of, anything on the Cullens?"

Jacob cleared their throats. "Well, they're back. Bella's...Bella's back in their clutches as we speak."

"Bella made her choice, Jacob," May told him calmly, but there was an air of authority that backed her words in a way that Sam's never had. It was a command. The fabled alpha voice. "If she wants to be with her vampire then let her be."

Jacob bristled in his seat, hands shaking, obviously wanting to argue and lash out. But it was like he couldn't. The rest of the pack looked between the Black siblings in surprise and interest, seeing not only the difference between the two in attitude, but also in power.

May Black truly is the alpha, and, like the rest of them, Jacob had to follow her despite being her sibling and also a direct descendant of the last alpha. She will always be their leader, even though only three of them had only seen her wolf form.

"Do you want to say something calmly, Jacob?" May asked her brother. "Remember, we're not here to argue."

Jacob clenched his jaw before he took a deep breath and relaxed, his hands ceasing their shaking. "We have to remember the treaty. If they bite a human, treaty's off."

May hummed in thought. "Right. Well, the treaty never truly specified, yes? I'll talk to dad, see if I can figure out the semantics. I feel it's not worth it to break a hundred-year-old treaty just for a teenage girl who chose to be with whom she's technically, in our terms, an imprint of."

"You think that's what she is, the vampire's imprint?" Jared wondered. He'd recently imprinted himself, the third in the pack to do so, and he understood how important they were.

"Something like that," she shrugged. "How else would they have gotten together so quick after meeting? It only makes sense that there was something else that pulled them together." It was the profiler in her that was speaking. "But I don't think we have the same sentiments when it comes to soulmates, considering the man was able to leave her in the woods alone and in danger. Vampire thing, maybe."

"Reminds me of the legends," Embry thought aloud, turning the attention to him. "The third wife. When they killed the Cold Man, the Cold Woman had her revenge. They...they get destructive when their mate—I don't like calling them imprints, feels wrong—dies."

May nodded. "A lesson we must all learn from. Vampires have feelings too. Anything else?"

"They don't know that you're the alpha," Sam said. "Haven't had much interaction with them, but I don't think they know you exist."

May looked at him thoughtfully. "Let's keep it that way, please. They don't need to know everything about us." She smiled. "But we must know everything about them, for our safety. Especially now."

"What's going on?" Quil asked.

"My team at the FBI were recently asked to consult on this case from the Seattle field office," she explained. "I know some of you have heard about the missing guy from Forks."

"Riley Biers?" Jacob figured. "Charlie's been going crazy looking for him."

"Yes, him. He went missing with what the FBI thinks is twenty-one others," May confirmed. "Every disappearance, a body shows up. Cause of death exsanguination." Her last word was met with confused frowns. She almost forgot that she was the 'mother' to six teenagers. She sighed, fondly smirking at them for a second. "They were drained of blood."

There was a pause.

"Wait, wait...like, vampires?"

"That's what I've been thinking," she turned to Quil who'd spoken. Technically, they were cousins. "I don't have the resources to confirm because obviously the FBI doesn't know about vampires, but it's...it's a possibility. I just have a bad feeling about it."

"Twenty-two possible vampires," Sam muttered, though his words were heard loud and clear by everything. "If it's true, that's a bloodbath."

"An army," Jared nodded. "An army of vampires right in Seattle. And for what?"

May bit her lip as her brilliant mind raced. She flexed her fingers as she laid them on the table, bracing herself—and the pack—for words that were about to fall from her lips.

"Well, if it's an army, the closest 'enemy' they have are us...and the Cullens."

author's note: i love how may's the only smart one.

well here we go, here's me laying the foundation. we all knew it was coming ;)

edit: y'all i keep forgetting that the quileute pack are just literally filled with teenagers. the movies made em look older but from what i understand, sam's literally like 19-20. also, i'm not entirely sure of the order which the members phased, so i'm making somewhat of my own !!
