Chapter One
Few Years Later, Under the Clone Wars. Time Line: N/A
As the moon creeped across the sky, casting the jungle into a latticework of spectral shadows, a trail was being blazed below. An elegant dragoness, her smoothly scaled hide twinkling purple under the pale moonlight, meandered her way through the dense forest. Birds that were nestled in the night took flight, swirling around her like the notes of a symphony. Humming a little tune, she treaded on. It wasn't a chart-topper by any means, but it was her melody, raw and real, gifted by her mother, Ebony.
From within the sea of leaves, a man's voice broke through the syncopated nocturne around her. "Milady," he called out, emerging clad in practical jungle gear, complete with a pistol hitched to his back.
"Ah, Saw. How delightful to see you," the purple dragoness greeted, dipping her head graciously. He was stalwart, a chunk of reliability amidst the oft-turbulent jungle life. "You bring information about the clones moving in, I apprehend?"
Saw nodded, "Yes, but they ain't regulated."
Amethyst hummed in contemplation, "I'd presumed something of the kind. Lure them to the camp, but don't harm them." With those words left hanging in the cool midnight, she sashayed off into the wild. Saw, in turn, treaded down the well-hidden path to the uncanny "defective clones", as the Empire liked calling them.
Before long, they had them cornered. Well, more like that they found them holed up but hey, one situation at a time.
They were on their march towards the camp when the majestic figure of Lady Amethyst revealed itself. Her purple cloak hanging about her feet sashaying as she moved. The clones couldn't help but get starstruck by her beauty. Even Crosshair, who'd never given another thought about giving second looks.
"You've trespassed on my turf," Amethyst professed, twirling an etched staff between her elegant claws. "You... you speak Basic?" Exclaimed an astonished specky.
Amethyst turned her shimmering, cerulean gaze towards him, "Indeed I do. Learned it from my mother who had her brush with some... heroes from another part of the globe." A toothy smile graced her lips as she turned towards Silverhair, "What brings you to me? Are you the supposed settlers we were to escort?"
Her gaze met the sniper's eyes as she chuckled, "Ah, I see." Tapping on the bulbous end of her staff, etched with a holographic image of a clone helmet, she spoke, "I once served." Her gaze locked with the one sporting a bandana around his forehead, pushing back his dark hair, "I knew many clones." Another smile spread across her face. "Pleasure to see the Kaminoans are still churning out such... fine clones."
"Do you have any idea what the Empire's up to?" asked Hunter, curiosity painting his tone.
Amethyst scoffed a bit, "Darth Sideous is truly a wretched man. Never trusted the Order, the council, heck, basically nothing," she called out towards the raven-faced one.
"You guys must be shaking in your boots, huh?"
"And how's that any of your business?" Crosshair snapped back, only to be nudged by Hunter. "Take it easy, Crosshair."
Amethyst turned an amused smirk towards him. "Quite the sharp tongue you've got there, sniper. But don't ya worry, you won't be needing it much here." She turned back towards Saw, "Get these clones some food and hydration packs, they'll need it to survive here."
"Excuse us," Echo got up, his voice polite but firm, "We don't think it's a good idea to stick around."
Amethyst's gaze followed him, a purr of acknowledgment reverberating from her chest. "I understand. Well, no one's chaining you lot down, you're free to skedaddle whenever. But do stick around for grub. You all are just humans after all," she said before she and Saw shuffled off a bit, most likely to discuss their little rebel group's fate, far away from the clone's ears.
"So, you're keeping them?" Saw asked, a puzzled tone to his voice. Amethyst just shook her head. "You're in charge till I get back. Understand?"
Saw blinked. It wasn't a refusal. "I..."
"Don't worry about it...just keep things in check, stay out of trouble, and keep them alive," she nodded towards the crowd around the fire, the clones chowing down some grub for their road ahead. "Keep the pack, alive." She reached out, touching a tender claw to the snout of Saw's head. "May the force guide you, my dear Padawan."
And with that, she was off. "I need to join you," she stated, turning to Hunter who looked up.
"Why should...?" he started, only to be cut off by her.
"The Empire needs to be disintegrated from the inside out." She flexed her dark claws, moonlight dancing against their surface. "I'm a monster... who better to rip apart the old order?"
"How can we trust you?" Crosshair interrupted, to which she shot back, "Do you have other options? Your brothers are gone, turned against you." A nonchalant shrug of her shoulders. "I've got something under my wings you lot don't."
With those words hanging in the air, she headed toward the ramp of the Havoc Marauder. "You guys coming, or what?" She called over her shoulder as the clones shared amused chuckles amongst themselves.
Even the stern-faced Crosshair cracked a smile. This was indeed an adventure.
Unbeknownst to them, all these exchanges were being observed by a probe droid. However, as the Marauder took to the sky, sparks danced around the droid and it shut down.
