SIXTEEN | JESUS BEN'S GONE MANIC AND I HAVE TO DEAL WITH YOU?
The group gathered around outside of a farm. Everyone stared in horror as they saw the amount of dead bodies lying on the ground. Dismembered body parts lie around the ground as if someone tore through them with a chainsaw.
"Okay, Ben is an asshole. I'll give you that but mass murderer?" Tate asked with her arms crossed. "Turned everyone into haggis," Lila said, stepping forward to the bodies.
"And they have terrible taste in tattoos," Lila picked up one of the dismembered arms with an upside-down umbrella tattooed on.
"Some next-level psycho shit," Diego commented as Lila waved the arm around. "This could have been a rescue mission," Viktor reminded as Tate stepped over the lifeless bodies.
"More likely a massacre by two individuals who are growing increasingly violent by the minute," Reginald speculated before Viktor turned to him. "You don't know that," Viktor argued as Five walked back to the group.
"All right, our guys tell me that this whole farm actually belongs to those lunatics who ambushed us at New Grumpson," Five informed the group before Tate sighed. "Gene and Jean Thibedeau,"
"Well, maybe Ben killed them too," Luther guessed as Allison poked one of the dead bodies with a stick. "Forensics found fresh tracks leading out of the barn. My guess is they escaped," Five suggested.
"They couldn't have gotten far," Allison denied the possibility as she got up. "Based on the signs of rigor, I'd say time of death was six, maybe seven hours ago," Allison answered the group as everyone stared at her in confusion.
"How do you know that?" Diego asked, crossing his arms. "Wichita, PD. Thursday nights 9/8 central," Allison answered, crossing her arms.
"Ready the car," Reginald ordered one of the guards. "I gotta make a call," Allison informed the group before walking back inside.
Lila stared at Diego, Luther, and Tate before heading over to where Five was. "As much I enjoy this recreation of Christmas Cruelty. We have to find Ben before it's too late," Tate urged as she watched Luther try to pick up one of the torn-apart legs.
"Don't touch that, my god!" Tate yelled before Luther quickly dropped the bloodied leg before Diego called out to her. "Mhm?" Tate looked up to her brother. "Look at them," Diego pointed to Lila and Five talking.
"They're having a conversation, I can see that, Diego," Tate remarked with a sarcastic tone as Diego stepped past her, approaching closer to Five and Lila. "And he's gone..." Tate sighed before turning back to Luther.
"Enjoying your sensory activity, big guy?" Tate asked as she watched Luther step over to the other dead bodies. Tate watched Five step aside as Lila and Diego started talking before he approached her.
"You requested we have a talk?" Five reminded his wife before Tate sighed. "Yeah, yeah," Tate pulled Five away behind one of the cars. "Are you going back to the CIA?" Five asked before Tate nodded hesitantly. "Maybe?" Tate answered, unsure of what her plan is right now.
"Can I ask you for a favor?" Five requested before Tate looked up to see Lance not far away from them. "No," Tate immediately declined the idea. "You didn't even let me finish," Five huffed before Tate cupped his cheeks.
"Diego and Luther can not come to the CIA with me," Tate shook her head disappointingly. "But you're not going to take care of them," Five promised, trying to persuade his wife.
"I'm not repeating myself, no!" Tate continued to deny the idea before Five grumbled under his breath.
"Lila wants Diego out of her hair and as much as I enjoy having them as brothers. I am not doing bring my brothers to work day," Tate shook her head before Five wrapped his arms around her waist.
"What can I do to make you say yes?" Five asked as Tate's expression remained natural. "Nothing, because I don't know what the fuck is going on in your little head after the Keepers meeting and the whole thing with Reggie but the answer is no!"
Five sighed, he let go of Tate's waist and ran his fingers through his hair. "Fine.." He responded, causing Tate to stare at him in confusion. "Fine?" Tate felt oddly surprised at Five's acceptance.
"Fine, whatever. You win." Five mumbled, he crossed his arms, not even bothering to look at Tate. A hint of disappointment was in his tone.
"Fuck you, Five. I seriously don't know, what do you want from me!" Tate snapped at Five's childish attitude. Five gave Tate a dirty look. "You wouldn't even let me kiss you!" He spoke with a frustrated tone.
"Why? What's wrong?!" Five added on. "Why are you so set on giving Lila what she wants when I can't even get a smile from you nowadays!" Tate huffed, unable to hide the sinking feeling in her stomach.
"Tate... don't start. I'm doing this for you!" Five responded, his voice now rising in anger. He was mad about Tate's choice of words and actions, why wouldn't he be, she was his wife, and he should be able to be close to his own wife.
"No, you're not!" Tate screamed as Luther, Diego, and Lila turned back to stare at them. "You wanna know something, Tate? I have so many things I want to do to you that I can't do. Do you know why I can't do them now? Cause of our shitty circumstances!" Five yelled, causing Tate to glare at him.
"You have no idea," Five mumbled, his voice had a hint of sorrow to it.. "I don't go to Keepers Meetings and work late nights at the CIA. You're sulking and pouting like a child!" Tateb grumbled before Five stared at her in shock.
Five gave a bitter laugh at Tate's words. "Yeah? Well then it's about time you take some responsibility for your actions, maybe then we get out of these shitty circumstances!" Five yelled, leaning slightly his upper body over top of hers. His eyes were now a darker shade. His anger grew, and he was furious.
"For what!" Tate asked before Five clenched his fists. "For everything!" He yelled, he leaned down closer to Tate's face, their faces inches away from each other. "For joining The CIA!"
"For getting that job when I earned that position!" His voice rose some more. He was seething with anger, he didn't understand why Tate didn't understand that they were in this situation because of her.
"Five! I have said so many times, I didn't want that, they forced it onto me!" Tate argued, reminding her husband for the millionth time.
"Can you get it through your head? We're in this situation all because of you! Don't you even look back at all your past decisions!" Five snapped. He had tears forming in his eyes, but he didn't care.
He moved one of his hands from the counter and to Tate's waist, he grabbed ahold of her hard. She didn't think he'd ever hurt her, but he was mad, and his grip showed that.
"You're blaming our crumbling marriage on a job position, real mature," Tate answered before he scoffed in disagreement.
"You're so idiotic!" He yelled, as he looked at her now, his eyes were completely dark. He didn't even sound or look like himself.
His grip got tighter, it was beginning to hurt. "Five..." Tate stared at Five in disbelief, they've had fights but they hadn't gotten this extreme.
"I've been bottling my feelings so you could be happy! I took the job so I could be there for you, I wanted this so we could have a better life!" Tate admitted.
"Are you happy?! Are you really happy?!" Five looked Tate dead in the eyes. His eyes were glossy as the tears ran down his face.
"No!" Tate admitted as the three watched the argument unfold. Five frowned, he didn't understand. "Then why are you doing this?! Why are you doing any of this?" He practically whispered. His grip loosened on her side, and he buried his head into her neck.
"Because my husband isn't home when I want him to be, my husband isn't there for me when I need him to be, my husband is lying to me about his whereabouts when I'm not there with him!" Tate ranted on, causing Five to sob into her shoulder.
Five pushed his body against hers, his face still in her neck. He didn't care, his anger had now faded into tears, and sorrow. He had no reason to yell at her now, it wasn't her fault.
He just wanted to stay like this, wrapped up in her arms, against her body. He was just so tired, he just wanted to sleep forever. Why was he so tired all the time, it was like his world was falling apart.
"Five..." Tate sighed as Five's sob were muted into Tate's suit. Five didn't respond, he couldn't speak, he was too emotional. His breathing was shaky as he inhaled and exhaled through his mouth.
He moved his hands to her back now pulling her into a soft hug, he just wanted to be close to her. "Five..." Tate held her husband close to her as he just buried his head into her shoulder, and just like that he broke down.
The tears just ran down his face, he couldn't stop them. He'd never cried since they'd been married. It was because he was too tired to bottle everything up anymore. "I'm tired, Tate..." He spoke with a shaky voice, he buried his face even more against her and hugged her tighter.
"I'm just so tired," He mumbled in Tate's sweater. "I know... me too..." Tate admitted as she patted his head like a child in need of their mother's comfort. He held Tate as he cried into her, his tears soaked Tate's shoulder but she didn't care.
He was finally letting the weight from his shoulders go, as he sobbed. He didn't care how he looked to Tate while he was crying, he just wanted her close, and he wanted to be held by her.
"God, I think the last time I saw you like this was when you got the academy's tattoo," Tate muttered as she looked up to see Lila, Diego and Luther and a few other CIA agents were staring at him.
He just nodded as he slowly began to calm down and eventually, he stopped crying. He still had his face hidden from Tate, as he was so ashamed of letting her see him in this vulnerable state.
He eventually pulled his head up and out of Tate's shoulder, his hair was messy, and tears covered his face.
Five was embarrassed, he wasn't embarrassed about crying in front of her, but being vulnerable in front of her. He was so vulnerable to the point where he'd cry in front of her and show this much emotion to her.
He just stared at her for a while, not even blinking as he let her fix his face. "There, there," Tate comforted him, wiping his tears with the sleeve that didn't have puke. "God, I hate how much I love you," Tate exhaled shakily.
Five smiled at the honesty before he looked around at how everyone was staring at them. "I'll allow it, Diego and Luther can come along to the CIA," Tate finally accepted the request. Five let out a soft chuckle, he stopped kissing on Tate's neck for a moment.
"You're serious?" He questioned, he was shocked that Tate would agree to something like that. "Yeah, and if you're going to do the stupid thing with Lila, my only words are don't get lost in that damn subway and age faster than me," Tate requested, knowing the complicated map.
"I won't," Five mumbled, he then began back up by giving Tate's neck little kisses. He had no clue what Tate's problem was earlier with letting the others come, but that didn't matter now.
Tate has never watched Five breakdown in front of him but after that she'd swore to herself, she'd never let Five feel like he did earlier today.
