Cheryl's hand was on her chin as she listened to the old teacher explain how to write a better essay, maybe Steve should be taking notes. "pss" She felt a shoe hit her ankle, Cheryl look to see who it was, it was Steve glancing back and forth at the teacher, making sure she doesn't see himΒ talking.
"What?" Cheryl quietly asked, she put her yellow pencil on the desk near her half written essay about cheer-leading "I'm bored" Steve complained "Yeah same" She looked back at the teacher, the teacher held up paper with steps to make an essay.
"want to talk instead?" Steve asked her, Cheryl looked back at him "I think you should be taking notes." Cheryl suggested, he needed to get better grades, an F won't get him anywhere in the future. "I think i'm good." The school bell rang throughout the school, everyone got up from their black chairs and ran into the hallway.Β Β
"Hey, Tina wants to see you." A teenage girl with straight black hair told Cheryl, so she walked towards Tina who had orange papers in her hands "someone said you wanted to see me?" Tina's attention went to Cheryl's "oh yes, I wanted to give you this" Tina gave her the orange paper, it was an invite to her Halloween party taking place at her home "You can bring your blonde friend too." Tina smiled widely "I'll go, you can count on me" Cheryl winked at Tina.
"Are you going?" Cheryl asked Steve, he put on sunglasses "You know it" He pushed the sunglasses up his nose "You do realize that doesn't make you look cool, right?" Cheryl looked at Steve with a small smile forming "It does make me look cool." he ran his hand through his dark hair. "shh" Steve ran up to Nancy's locker and kissed her in front of Cheryl and Jonathan, he looked uncomfortable.
Cheryl took a deep breath and walked past the couple, accidentally hitting Jonathan's shoulder "sorry." She apologized without looking up, her eyes stayed on the floor tiles.Β "yeah." Jonathan quietly said back.
Cheryl's grip made the orange paper crumble at the end from her being extremely jealous "woah now, you look like you're angry" Allison went to her right side "Because I am" Cheryl replied, her grip on the paper loosen when she and Allison walked together in sync "why are you?" Allison took out her blue scrunchie out of her hairΒ "Also I stole this from you last night" Allison admitted when she put the scrunchie on her wrist, with her other bracelets.Β "I should steal your stuff" Cheryl told her best friend "maybe you should... a lot of my clothes are ugly. You should see what my uncles get me for my birthday." Cheryl let out a laugh
"Do you have any plans for tonight?" Allison asked the girl when the finally made it out of the school "yeah, take my sister to the arcade then finish my essay" Allison sighed loudly "I just started my introduction and god its awful" Cheryl chuckled at her friend "I sure you'll do great on it" That gave Allison a boost of confidence.Β
"what's your essay about?" Allison asked the blonde "me and my great cheerleading skills" She moved her hair off of her shoulders since it was getting in the way "You are great at it, very flexible. Maybe you can use that for great use" Allison winked her eye "Shut up" Cheryl took out her key from her bag and put it in the keyhole "Are you going to Tina's Halloween party?" She asked Allison while she unlocked her car door "yes, free drinks and food are calling my name." Cheryl opened the car door "don't forget, you're Velma and i'm Daphne."Β
They both decided to go as matching scooby doo characters since they always watched it when they were younger, Daphne being Cheryl's all time favorite "Got it"Β They both said their goodbyes.
Cheryl drove to the middle school, Penny was waiting outside by herself with her book in her hands "Penny!" She shouted, Penny came running inside the car. "How was school?" Cheryl asked her sister "great! Today there was a new student" Penny slammed the door shut and buckled her seat belt in "Oh yeah? What's their name?"Β Penny put her book on her lap so she doesn't hold it the whole time "Maxine, but she likes to go by Max. She's really pretty... but she doesn't like us." Penny scratched the back of her neck "Why?"Β
"She thinks we're stalking her or something" "You probably were" Penny gasp "I was not!" Cheryl hummed in response "how was your day? Hmm??" Penny asked her this time "Pretty good. Also, new student. His name is Billy and every girl thinks hes the 'perfect man'" Cheryl tapped her steering wheel with both of her index finger while they were at a red light "oh yeah! I seen him. Max went inside his car so they are most likely related"Β "god you're such a nerd" Cheryl sigh at Penny's big words "Nerd means smarter, you know that? So you just admitted i'm smarter."Β
"Your math grade says otherwise." Cheryl shot back at her "a B isn't a bad grade" Penny crossed her arms over her chest "sort of is.." She parked near the entrance of the arcade, a lot of teens were walking in "oh uh, do you have money I can use?" Penny asked her bigger sister "if I give you money, you have to pay it back" Penny shook her head fast "I'll steal some from Mike" Cheryl laughed at her sister "Alright here" She gave Penny 6 coins that she could use to play some games. Penny opened the car door "uh uh, what do you say?" Penny looked back, she rolled her eyes "Thank you" Cheryl shook her head, giving her the approval to leave the car.
She drove back to her house after the long school day of nothing but boredom. "Hey there" Her dad waved at her while he sat on his brown, soft couch while reading the newspaper "Hi dad, mom." Her mom wore a black apron, she was by the stove cooking food for dinner "Hey honey."
Cheryl walked up the stairs to her room, on the door there was a sign that said 'Get out' in bold letters, it was mainly for Penny because she always walked in the room without knocking.Β
She took off her shoes and sat on her comfy bed full of big blankets that fit her room colors, pink, white and a drop of some yellow. She took out her English essay and put it on top a book, on her bed so she could write. "What to write next..." She put the tip of the pencil between her teeth as she tried to think what to write.
She was interrupted by someone banging on her window, she got up from her bed and moved the curtains "What the hell Steve?" She unlocked the window as Steve crawled in "Sorry" he apologized when he fell on the carpet floor "why are you here?" Cheryl shut the window closed and locked it "I need help on my essay and Nancy's busy with Jonathan" Steve explained quickly "Nancy is sure spending enough time with him" She took a seat near Steve on her bed "you don't think Nancy likes him, right?" Steve placed his crumbled paper on the bed with his hand on it "no, all i'm saying is that shes hanging out with him more than you."Β
Steve scratched his nose "now that you said that, they are....but Nancy wouldn't do that to me, would she?" Steve questioned the teen "I don't talk to her so" Cheryl shrugged her shoulders. She cleared her throat "We should do our essays now. Hand it over." Steve gave her crumbled paper to her, she squinted her eyes as she read through "First of all, you need straight paper to read it and second, its 'their' not 'there'" Steve's eyebrow raised in confusion "do you know the difference between the two?" Steve shook his head "of course I do" he lied but he wanted to sound smart.
"just change it" She threw a pencil at Steve so he could erase his spelling mistake. "Cheryl!!" Her mom yelled out her name, loud footsteps were heard walking up the stairs "shit, Steve go under my bed" She pushed him off the bed, making a loud 'thump' sound "Jesus! Why?" He rubbed his head "Just do it" She used her foot to push her further away.
"is anyone else here?" Cheryl's mom opened the door "Uh no" Cheryl said, she was breathing quick from her pushing Steve under the bed "Why did I hear someone fall" Her mom tapped her slipper's on the floor "I fell because my pencil was on the ground" She moved her pencil between her finger "Oh I see! I thought you had a boy in here for a second" Her mom wiped her forehead.
Cheryl never was allowed to bring a boy in her house, mainly because her parents were very strict. They thought if she had a boyfriend, she would lose focus on her grades and fail miserably.Β
"Nope, just me!" She rubbed the back of her neck "So uh.. what's up?" Cheryl asked "Well, I wanted to remind you to bring Penny home from the arcade before dinner. I don't want her foodΒ going to waste" She nodded her head quickly "of course" She smiled "okay now, have fun with your.... essay" She shut the door quietly.
"Can I come out now?"Β Steve asked her "yes" Steve came out from under the bed, his hair was a total mess "do you have a hairbrush?" Cheryl nodded and pointed to her dresser, a hairbrush was near her lamp.
"Thank goodness" He slowly brushed his hair but stopped when he moved papers that were on the dresser "you drew these?" He held up a paper that had a drawing of the demogorgon "oh those? Yeah." She got up from her bed and walked to Steve "What are these?" He questioned "those are what I see in my dreams" He hummed, he picked up one paper that had him in it "look at that handsome fella" He pointed to a drawing with him in it "oh, nevermind." He changed his mind when he saw what the demogorgon was doing... his claw stabbing into Steve's chest while Cheryl watched in horror.
"now let's stop snooping around my room" She grabbed the papers out of his hands and put it inside a drawer "I wasn't snooping if it was right in front of me" She rolled her eyes "lets focus now"
