"Moon, are you sure this is okay?" Alaska asked as she met the girl in her living room. "I really thought my parents would be out of town still."
"It's totally fine, you know I like a good party." Moon smiled as she pushed her arm slightly. "Plus, it actually works out perfectly. Wyatt's party is here and your parents invite his over for dinner, they'll never know."
"Very true." Alaska agreed, looking around as people around school began to flood in. "I haven't even seen Wyatt yet."
"I saw him in the back talking to Sam." she pointed, making Alaska smile, walking toward the back to look around for the birthday boy. She stumbled across him talked to a boy, stoping to watch but giving them space.
"What are we looking at?" Demetri came up behind her. "Who's that?"
"Kody from math." Alaska whispered back, watching Wyatt rock on his heels awkwardly infront of the brunette, who was sitting on the brick fire pit, leaned back against his palms. "Cute, right?"
"Wyatt? Sure, totally." Demetri agreed, making Alaska look back at him. "What?"
"Nothing." she said back with a shrug of her shoulders, turning to face him fully. "So, are you totally cool with Wyatt, just, going to Prom with the cute guy from math?"
"Well, sure, if he wants to." Demetri shrugged his shoulders in return. "Kody seems like a nice guy."
"Yeah, most people want to date nice people." she said in return with a knowing look. "Wyatt's a nice guy."
"Eli wasn't very nice when you started dating him." he pointed out as she pulled a fair look. "Is he gonna come to this thing?"
"He said he might, hasn't decided yet." She said in return, looking around the yard for any sign of anyone she knew.
"Well, he better. Because he has news." Demetri said in return, making Alaska blink at him suddenly.
"Is he breaking up with me already?" she asked in disbelief.
"What? No!" he gave a crazy look with a shake of his head. "No, no, nothing like that. Should you even be here? You're, like, two days fresh from the hospital."
"Egh." Alaska shrugged, looking at her brace hand. "The sprained one feels better, just a little sore when I go to grab anything. And it's not like i'm gonna throw the broken one around."
Demetri shrugged in return. "Just, be carful."
Alaska smirked his way. "I will."
"So..."Wyatt walked over with a cheeky grin. "I officially have a date to prom."
"He said yes?" she grinned, side hugging Wyatt with her arm that was attached to her good hand.
"So, i'm gonna be fourth wheeling." Demetri said in disbelief. "Yasmine is so gonna leave me for some hot aussie dude."
"Probably so." Wyatt agreed with a shrug. "Are we all riding together? Is your dad gonna get us some massive car?"
"He'll probably let me take his car." Alaska smirked. "It's really fast."
"Did you convince Eli to go?" Demetri elbowed her. "He was talking about it for a while but once the Hawk died, rest in peace, he hasn't brought it up."
"He's not gonna ask me, i'm gonna do it." Alaska nodded with a knowing point of her finger. "And I have a fantastic idea."
"Where is he?" Wyatt looked around the backyard. "Hello, my birthday isn't compete without him."
"I'll go try to call him." Alaska nodded, winking at the pair. "Don't party too hard without me."
Demetri gave a minor grin to Wyatt. "So, Kody."
Wyatt shrugged. "He seems like a cool dude."
"Oh, the coolest." Demetri nodded with an inhale. "Right."
"Right." Wyatt agreed with an awkward look.
"Oh, I forgot." Demetri realized he had a box in his hand. "That's for you. Happy Birthday."
"I have a feeling something's gonna jump out at me." Wyatt nodded, making Demetri laugh slightly and shake his head. Wyatt pulled the top off, grinned as he reached inside and pulled out a pair of socks with little cakes on them. "Are you kidding me? How'd you know I get cold feet?"
"Just assumed." he said back with a soft grin. "It reminded me of when we really became friends, like, real friends."
"When we stole the cake, of course." Wyatt laughed as he held them, meeting his eye with a grin. "I'm gonna go find a empty bedroom and put them on. Wanna come with?"
"Yeah, parties aren't my thing." he agreed, following after him, passing Alaska leaning on the side of Moons house, away from everyone, phone to her ear.
She sighed when she got a voicemail, leaning against the wall as the fence stared back at her. Going to text him, a new voice spoke up. "Voicemail, huh?"
She blinked in shock, looking over. "Robby."
"Carful, I might start assuming you actually don't wanna kick me in the face again." he said back, walking her way, stopping before her.
Alaska pulled an odd look. "What are you doing here?"
"It's a party, isn't it?" he asked her with a questionable look.
Alaska looked at the minor mark left on his cheek, pulling her eyes away and trying not to feel guilty. "Well, it's Wyatt's party."
"Doubt he'll even know i'm here." he said back, digging his hands into his pockets. "Won't stay long."
"Look, if you wanna yell at me, or hurt me, whatever. But not here, okay? Let him enjoy this." Alaska gave a look of disbelief.
"Unlike you, I don't wanna hurt you." Robby gave a knowing look her way. "Definitely don't wanna push a weight down on you. Maybe a kick to the face."
Alaska took a breath. "I, obviously, know now that I took things too far."
"You think? Sensei Kreese's nose his broken and he's having to get surgery because his face is so shoved in." Robby said back with a knowing look. "And Wren quite the team."
Alaska rose and eyebrow. "Maybe I can admit that I went a little over board, but that doesn't mean I regret it. After what all of you did, had to scare you enough for it not to happen again."
"Spoken like a real Cobra Kai." Robby said back as she rolled her eyes. "That's why i'm here. Not for Wyatt, not for the party. But, for you."
"Starting to realize you show up out of no where a lot." She answered him.
"Sorta like you do?" he tilted his head upwards. "You know, while I was pissed at you, it didn't take all of us long to realize that maybe all of this was a sign. You really think someone like Sam or Demetri, real Miyagi-Do's, would ever do something like that?"
Alaska laughed. "What? You came to try and convince me to join Cobra Kai again? How stupid do you think I am?"
"I don't think you're stupid at all." he gave a minor thinking look, leaning on the fence before her. "I think you're one of the smartest people I know. Which is why I know that you know, in your head, you liked what you did the other night."
Alaska narrowed her eyes with a minor grin. "I liked it because all of you deserved it, not because i'm some sort of pathetic like the rest of you."
Robby grinned at her, nodding his head. "There it is again. You still wanna deny it?"
Alaska gave him a stupid look. "I don't care what you say. I'm not joining Cobra Kai. Just because I can fight dirty like all of you do, after you hurt my boyfriend, doesn't mean i'm suddenly being knocked down to the title of a snake in the grass."
Robby whistled. "Boyfriend, huh? That's new."
"Wanna hate me for that that too?" she rose her eyebrows his way. Robby tilted his head upwards as Alaska walked forward with a glare across her face. "You still not over something that happened months ago?"
"I'm over that, now more then ever." he glared back at her as his jaw clinched. "After what you did, makes me sick that I ever even considered it."
Alaska nodded. "Feeling mutual, sweetheart. So, if you're done trying to play some tough guy, I have more important things to do then sit here and listen to you try to get me back in your dojo."
Robby hummed, narrowing his eyes as he lowered his head. "Tory said you plan on kicking her ass at the All Valley?"
"Sounds like something i'd say." she nodded her head in return. "Was this before or after you turned into Kreeses little bitch?"
Robby backed off with a chuckle. "You should just watch your back."
"I'd say the same, but pretty sure it's already been proven that I can sneak up on every single one of you." Alaska said back with a smile, her wrist throbbed when she said it, avoiding him seeing her wince in pain. "It's funny, because I used the same technique all of you do, and still managed to get the upper hand."
"Must have read my mind. You wanna use our way?" Robby stepped closer with a nod of his head. "Don't be shocked when you get what you deserve with your own, what's it called, 'non violent' ways?"
She didn't know what that meant, not yet.
"What the hell did you just say to me?" she gave him a questionable look.
"I'll see you at Beth's baby shower." he said back with a nod of his head, backing off. "Hope you're enjoying this high horse you're riding, you'll get thrown off sooner or later."
Alaska watched him walk off. "Always great getting to talk to you, Robby. We should really consider setting up a brunch every now and then."
She stormed back to the party with an eye roll, trying to find Demetri and Wyatt.
Eli had completely forgotten that the location of the party had change and now stood face to face with Zane in the door way.
The car. The car. The car. The car. The car. He knew. He knew. He knew. He found out. He found out. He found out. Gonna kill me. Gonna kill me. Gonna kill me.
"Eli." Zane gave him a grin, going a not so subtle nod toward Wyatt's parents in the dining room, that could see straight to the doorway. "What are you doing here instead of at the all boys movie night at Demetris?"
Zane tried to give him a knowing look. Eli was red in the face, his mouth moving like he was trying to say something. "M-M-M.....magnolias."
Zane pulled a look of disbelief. Gina stood up. "Hi, sweet boy. What is it you are looking for? The door? Alaska isn't home."
"What's magnolia?" Wyatt's dad asked with a questionable look.
Gina and Zane both looked at Eli seriously as he cleared his throat. "My essential oil. The magnolia essential oil. I left it here when Alaska and I were studying, here, not in the car, with the door open, Cedric was there!"
Gina cleared her throat as his horrible, horrible excuse. But Eli did use his head a little bit, because he knew Alaska did have a magnolia essential oil that she sometimes made floral candles with. Zane hummed. "Right, the essential oil. Of course! Let me get it for you."
"Better take him with you before he started talking." Gina laughed like she was joking, making Wyatt's parents laugh. "So good to see you again, baby."
"Yeah, you too." he smiled, hesitantly following Zane up the stairs while Beth gave him a subtle wink.
"How could you forgot the location?" Zane whispered as him and Eli went up the stairs quickly, walking toward Alaskas room.
"The last few days have been kinda hazy." he said honestly as they pushed into the room.
"Tell me about it. Robby's mom just got her custody back today." Zane sighed as he looked through the oils on Alaskas dresser. "Jesus, how many essential oils does this kid need?"
"She says it's a hobbit." Eli nodded, getting an odd look in return. "That's what she calls hobbies, I don't remember where the joke came from."
"God knows with that chick." Zane shook his head, finally finding it. "I like your new hair."
Eli flushed, looking down.
"Hey." Zane gave him a serious tone, making Eli look back at him. "Don't let something ever define who you are as a person, you hear me? Only thing that can define you is who you are on the inside, that's all that matters."
Eli nodded. "I'm trying to."
"Good." Zane handed him the oil. "Now go make sure my daughter isn't trying to knock anyones face in again."
Eli gave a guilty look. "Sorry about that."
"That wasn't on you. Probably more my fault then anything." Zane said with a knowing look, Eli looking oddly. "I kick my dealers asses in my office if they run off with some oxy when it's suppose to go to someone who G's about to do a surgery on."
"Is that really what you guys do? Just help people with drugs? Not sale too addicts?" Eli asked curiously, because he'd only ever heard Alaska share of the story, never Zane and Gina.
"A lot of people don't have insurance, so if they go to the hospital, they're paying thousands for something they can't help. You know, it's not like people wake up one day and decide they want to have appendicitis, or crack a rib, or get a bad kidney infection."
"Yeah, it's not fair." Eli agreed. "I just, when you hear someone say their dads a drug lord, it was hard for me to imagine it was for a good reason."
Zane cracked a grin. "Come here, let me show you something."
Zane lead Eli back down stairs, making an excuse he had to grab something he'd left the other day in the basement. Eli never had gone into Alaskas basement, she wasn't even allowed down here. His eyes were wide, because he immediately thought this was Zane's plan to murder him for having sex with his daughter.
"Holy shit." Eli look at the basement, hospitals beds lining the large place, a closed off OR room. Zane laughed. "This is where you guys do surgery's?"
"Aye, not me. Gina's the one with the medical degrees." Zane gave a knowing look, Eli looked around at the mini hospital right under their house. "Everyone deserves to be treated, regardless of insurance or the money they have. More people started to come to us, and the little numbers really add up."
"This is so cool." Eli looked around in shock. "How come Alaskas never showed me this?"
"She isn't allowed down here, you know how she can be." Zane said, giving him a knowing look. "Don't you tell her I showed you, either."
"I won't." Eli rose his hands, looking toward the OR. "Has Gina ever...lost anyone?"
"Once, it was really hard on her." Zane nodded her head. "But, almost every doctor in the world has lost someone. She just felt guilty because when the police were called, we weren't allowed to say how he actually died since this sort of thing is illegal."
Eli looked over. "Yeah, I can see how that would be hard on her."
Zane watched him look around a little more. "I know what you mean, who you said you think of addicts when someone says drug dealers. And sometimes, people will say they are really sick, in a lot of pain, when they're really just addicts that need a fill. And it sucks when we find out, because of the guilt. But, there are some things you have to deal with, you have to handle, in order to help the ones that actually need it around you."
Eli met his eye as Zane nodded his way. "I know you're going through a tough time right now, Eli. But you have to handle it, you've gotta risk what everyone else thinks in order to be who you are, to find yourself again. Because I know you will, and when you do, i'm gonna be cheering you on from the stands."
Eli felt warm inside, because despite everyone truly helping him, Zane's words are what he needed to hear from a parental figure, and he hadn't yet. Eli cracked a grin, nodding as he held himself together. "Thank you."
Eli had finally gotta to the party later that night, managing to ignore everyone that talked about him, what happened, his hair. He was searching for Wyatt, for Demetri, Alaska. He expected to find Wyatt dancing in the middle of the living room, but couldn't place the trio anywhere.
"Hawk." Miguel found him. "Hey, I didn't know you were coming."
"Hey." Eli gave a minor grin. "Have you seen Alaska?"
"I saw her take off upstairs about ten minutes ago, probably trying to find a bathroom that people aren't making out in." Miguel said back with a minor laugh, making Hawk give a small nod, heading up the stairs to search for her. He twisted one of the doorknobs, hearing a masculine yell from inside suddenly.
Eli winced, backing off, mumbling a sorry. He peaked his head into one of the bedrooms, finding this one empty. A purple light caught his attention, realizing Moon had clearly set up more LED's like she had last party. He twisted the door knob to the bathroom, hearing Alaska yell from the inside. "Al, it's me."
After a second, she pulled the door open. He was wrong about the LED's, Moon hadn't put them in the bathroom, it was just a little purple, extremely bright, nightlight. He laughed slightly at Alaska. "Why are you hiding in here? You look-"
He then realized she looked a little scared, eyes widening. "What's wrong?"
She pulled the door open, letting him walk in more. Alaska sighed. "Some people started doing lines of coke outside and I started to panic so I had to come call Beth."
"Are you okay?" he asked her worried, scanning over her face.
"Yeah." Alaska took a breath, shaking her head as she looked down. "Yeah, i'm good, I just didn't expect it."
"Yeah, but you stood your ground, you taught that shit head on." Eli grinned at her, using his hand to nudge her chin back up. "I'm proud of you."
Alaska gave a small smile, the purple light making it seem like her dark eyes had a ring around them. "I'm proud of you too. I was thinking you weren't coming."
"Well, I wasn't, but I wanted to see you." he gave her a small grin as her face lit up. "Did Beth answer?"
"Yeah, she gave me a good talk, i'm good now. I just didn't wanna go back down there yet, just incase." Alaska nodded her head, leaning forward some to plant a kiss to his lips. His stomach flipped, which didn't always happen, but did now. She pulled back a second later. "Did you see Wyatt?"
"No, I was looking for him." he said back with a shake of his head. Eli's fingers looped into Alaskas belt loops when he talked, clearly just out of a habit. "I had a really eventful time getting here."
Alaska chuckled with a raise of her eyebrows. "Oh, yeah?"
"Yeah." he said back with a sudden laugh. "Oh, here, I should give this to you."
He placed the magnolia essential oil in her hand, gently. Alaska gave an odd look with a shake of her head. "I'm not even gonna ask."
"Please don't." Eli agreed, pulling on her belt loops so she was up against him, finding her lips again. Any thoughts about what Johnny said earlier, about Moon, it all left her mind now, the way he held onto her, the way he kissed her, it was enough for her to know no matter if there were other girls, he did want her, and he knew he had the entire time. Alaska got lost in the moment, placing her sprained hand back on the counter as a shoot of pain went through her arm, wincing.
"Sorry." Eli pulled back quickly in a panic.
"No, it wasn't you." she shook her hand, taking her hand off the counter. "I just keep forgetting that I can't do much yet."
Eli gently touched her hand, bringing it to his lips to plant a kiss on the top of her hand. Alaska smiled when he did so, this time, her stomach flipped. She leaned over to kiss him again, glad he caught on to set her on the counter to avoid her forgetting about her hands again. She pulled back for a breath, his forehead on hers. He went to ask her if she was okay, stopping as she spoke up quietly, and almost embarrassed. "I'm sorry I can't really touch you the way I want to."
He grinned at her voice, shaking his head with his forehead still on hers. "You don't need to do anything, i'll do it all."
And he kissed her again.
