"I DIDN'T KNOW doing push ups on your knuckles was a thing," Alyssa admitted.

Although they were training at the dojo together now, Sensei LaRusso still had the Eagle Fang's and Sensei Lawrence still had the Miyagi-Do's. While Sensei LaRusso and the Eagle Fang's were doing their own exercises around the koi pond, Sensei Lawrence had the Miyagi-Do's doing push-ups on the sparring deck.

Alyssa could do normal push-ups. That was whatever. She had built up her strength from karate and they were fine. But doing it on her knuckles was way harder, and she was struggling.

It felt like she had been doing knuckle push-ups for about a thousand years before they moved on. Sensei Lawrence put mats over his hands, and they had to do a kick-punch combo one by one. Alyssa was first in line. She shook her hands out before raising her fists.

"Attack," Sensei Lawrence instructed.

Alyssa lifted her right leg up and kicked, her foot making contact with one of the mats. She let her leg fall before punching twice with her left hand and once with her right.

"Nice, Fairy Princess," Sensei Lawrence told her, and Alyssa high-fived Sam as she got back in line while Chris moved forwards. "Attack."

Sensei Lawrence, however, got distracted by Miguel sparring with Sensei Lawrence, which caused Demetri to kick him right in the face. That then caused Demetri to now have cushions duct-taped onto him while he was attached to the punching bag with a gag in his mouth. Unfortunate for him, but pretty funny to Alyssa.

"All right, remember, one of the best ways to get a point is to aim for the torso," Sensei Lawrence announced. He then struck Demetri right in the torso, causing him to groan in pain. "All right, front kick, side kick. Ready? Go!"

Despite Demetri's noises of protest, one by one, they went up to him and practiced their kicks. Sensei Lawrence complimented them on their form, occasionally making comments so they could improve. Alyssa went right after Sam, approaching Demetri while wincing.

"Sorry, Dem," Alyssa said.

She then lifted up her leg and kicked him right in the stomach before turning to the side and doing it again. Alyssa gave him an apologetic smile before wandering off towards the back in line. As she did, she snuck a glance into the house, where the Eagle Fang's were doing meditation with Sensei LaRusso.

As always, her eyes immediately trained on Eli's. It was strange to see him doing a style of karate that was so calm, considering all he had ever learned was the aggressive side.

Alyssa grinned a little to herself before facing back forwards, just in time to see Chris completely miss his front kick on the torso and instead kick Demetri right in the crotch. Demetri's eyes immediately widened and he let out a noise of pain. Alyssa gasped, but then she burst into laughter. She quickly covered her mouth with her hand so she wouldn't completely interrupt Sensei LaRusso's breathing exercises.

"Oh shit," Chris commented. "I missed. My bad, Meat."

"Very good," Sensei Lawrence stated before looking at Demetri. "Suck it up. Tighten that core."

Before she knew it, practice had ended. Thank God — Alyssa wasn't so sure if her muscles or her knuckles could take any more. She held onto one strap of her backpack as she followed Sensei Lawrence out to the front with the rest of the Miyagi-Do's.

"Good day," Sensei Lawrence approved. "You guys showed toughness." He then focused on Demetri. "You sure you're okay?"

"Oh yeah," Demetri answered. "No, they're starting to turn back to their normal color."

"Hey, Ally," Sensei LaRusso's voice called from behind her.

She turned with a smile to see him walking out of the house. "Yeah, what's up, Sensei?"

"Uh . . . you're close with Hawk — Eli — whoever he is, right?"

Alyssa let out a small laugh. "Yeah, why?"

"Well, he's laying on the sparring deck and just told me to leave him there, and I was wondering if you knew why."

"Oh." Her eyebrows knit in confusion. "I don't, but I can go check on him." She turned back to where Demetri was limping. "Dem, I'll be there in a few, okay?"

"Okay," he weakly agreed.

Alyssa then rounded back the way she came. Sure enough, just like Sensei LaRusso had said, Eli was laying on his back on the sparring deck, staring up at the sunny blue sky above him. Alyssa raised an eyebrow and walked up the steps, standing over him. Eli rolled his head over a little to look at her. How this wasn't messing up his mohawk, she didn't know.

"'Sup," Eli greeted.

"Well, hey there, handsome," Alyssa replied, placing her hands on her hips. "I have a lot of questions."

"I'm okay."

"I didn't ask that, but sure." She lowered herself to the ground, laying herself on her back right next to him. Their shoulders pressed up against each other's as she rested her hands on her stomach. For a moment, she was quiet, watching the clouds roll across the blue sky. "What's going on in that pretty little head of yours?"

"Just . . . thinking," Eli answered. "About how different it all is. It's kind of hard to unlearn all the stuff Cobra Kai drilled into my head."

"I can only imagine how hard of a transition it is," Alyssa agreed. "Hey, uh, I've got a question, but you don't have to answer it if you don't want to. When you were in Cobra Kai, was there ever a time — I mean, before the fight at the LaRusso's and the arcade — where you thought that what Cobra Kai was doing was wrong?"

"When Kreese told Bert to leave because he wouldn't feed a hamster to a snake."

"What the fuck?"

Eli scoffed. "Yeah, tell me about it." He paused for a second. "I could just hear the back of my mind telling me to run, but . . . I didn't. And I should've." Eli let out a deep breath. "I'm sorry. Again. For everything. I would take it all back if I could."

"How many times do I have to say it's okay for you to actually believe me?" Alyssa asked, rolling her head over to look at him. "You've rebuilt the bridge." She tapped her hand against the sparring deck. "Literally."

Eli rolled his head over to look at her, too. "All those months that I could've still had you by my side and I didn't because I was too roped in . . . I was such a wreck without you."

She scrunched up her nose a little at him. "Well, good thing I'm here now."

After a beat, the corners of Eli's mouth twitched up in a smile. Alyssa smiled back at him, letting out a small laugh as butterflies rushed through her stomach. Shen pushed herself to sit up and got to her feet.

"Come on," Alyssa said, extending her hand out to him. "If I make Demetri wait any longer, he's going to complain even more than he usually does."

Eli took her hand and used it to pull himself up. However, when he did eventually stand up, he didn't let go of her hand. Together, hands tightly interlocked, they walked towards the front of the dojo.

He then raised her hand to his face. "Why are your knuckles bruised?"

"Sensei Lawrence made us do knuckle push-ups," Alyssa answered. "Listen, I can do normal push-ups, but knuckle push-ups . . . I was humbled today. I really was."

Eli moved her hand to his mouth and pressed his lips against her knuckles. "There you go."

Her cheeks flushed a light shade of red, but she rolled her eyes fondly. "Oh, thank you. What would I ever do without you, E?"

"Have bruised knuckles for the rest of your life."

THERE WAS A drive-in that night in town, showing an old movie called Bloodsport. Pretty much all of Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang had agreed to go together, deeming it a fun outing.

Alyssa, always the chauffer, sat in the drivers seat of her car, absentmindedly eating popcorn as she watched the movie. Eli was in the passenger seat, her jacket laid across his lap — a large, fluffy light pink jacket that had big hot pink hearts on it — to protect him from the chilly air, even though she had her heat on. In her backseat, Sam was sandwiched in between Miguel and Demetri.

Alyssa tilted her head in thought as she watched the characters fight on the screen. "I don't really know if I like this movie. We should've suggested, like, Tangled, or something."

"Absolutely not," Demetri protested. "You have forced me to watch that a total of twenty times. I counted."

"And you loved it each time. I don't want to hear anything different, or I'll knock you out."

"Wait, isn't Tangled the movie that you watch when you're sad?" Miguel questioned.

"No, that's Cinderella," Eli corrected.

Alyssa looked over at him, her heart racing against her chest. "You remembered?"

He shrugged. "I never forgot."

"Oh, look what you've done," Demetri said. "Now she's going to write your name with hearts around it in glittery gel pen."

Alyssa turned to glare at him as everyone in the car besides her laughed. "No, I will not. I don't even have a glittery gel pen."

"So you're saying that you would if you did?"

"Shut up." Alyssa looked back at the screen. "But, yes, I do watch Cinderella when I'm sad. It helps me cry, for some reason."

Eli blinked at her. "Don't you cry during Tangled, too?"

"Okay, way to expose me." Alyssa reached over and pushed his shoulder, making him duck away from her. "In my defense, I've never had somebody tell me I was their new dream like Eugene did to Rapunzel. He was about to die for her! And did you see the lantern scene? Were we watching the same movie?"

Sam nodded from the backseat. "Valid points."

"Thank you. See, Sam agrees with me."

"Sam agrees with you on everything," Demetri argued.

"Not everything," Alyssa protested. "We were debating the other day if High School Musical 2 or High School Musical 3 was better."

Sam then gasped. "Wait. They totally should've played High School Musical. That would've been the best."

Alyssa's eyes widened. "Oh my God, Sam, this is why we're soulmates. They absolutely should've played High School Musical."

Demetri blinked. "So you think you and Sam are going to end up dating?"

"Huh?" Sam questioned.

Alyssa looked back at him. "Where the fuck did you get that from?"

"You just said you're soulmates!" Demetri insisted.

She threw a piece of popcorn at him. "Platonic, you idiot!"

"How was I supposed to know that?"

"With the amount of nerd shit you're into, I'm surprised you haven't stumbled upon that concept yet." She rolled her eyes. "In the wise words of Sharpay Evans, evaporate, tall person."

"You're just mad because you've been stuck at the same height for years," Demetri teased. "Shortie."

"Literally, fuck you," Alyssa stated. "Whatever, I can't deal with this right now. I'm going to get a soda."

She grabbed a five dollar bill from her cupholder and opened up the door. Alyssa got out of her car, but instantly crossed her arms across her chest as she walked towards the concession stand. It was a little chilly in just her short-sleeved shirt. She had forgotten to take her jacket back from Eli, not even thinking that it would be cold outside her car. Alyssa rubbed her hands against her arms that had goosebumps on them. Whatever, she could deal with it.

Alyssa approached the counter and smiled at the girl working. "Hi, can I just have a Sprite with a splash of Cherry Coke?"

The girl nodded and disappeared back to the soda machine. Alyssa shivered again and wrapped her arms tighter around herself.

"You should've taken your jacket from me, stupid."

Alyssa rolled her eyes fondly at Eli's voice. She turned to see him holding the jacket she had left in the car with him.

"Don't call me stupid, stupid," Alyssa countered. "And I know I should've brought it, I wasn't thinking."

Eli handed her the jacket. "Here."

Alyssa smiled gently at him. "Thanks." She put on the jacket, immediately enveloped by warmth. "As a payment for making you get out of the car, do you want me to buy you a snack? I know you like Reese's."

"I'm good."

"Come on, let me buy you something," Alyssa insisted.

Eli shook his head, leaning against the counter. "Well, there is this new candy that I've been loving lately. It's called Lys' Kisses. Ever heard of it?"

Alyssa rolled her eyes, but she couldn't help the small smile on her face. "You're ridiculous."

The girl came back with her drink. "Here you go. Three dollars."

Alyssa went to hand the girl her five dollar bill, but Eli beat her to it. He gave the girl three singles and picked up the soda, turning to Alyssa with a cheeky grin.

"You're trying to bribe me," Alyssa voiced, taking her soda from him. "Unbelievable."

"I think it's working," Eli replied. "Well, go on, I'm waiting."

Alyssa pretended to think about it for a moment before pressing up on her toes, placing a kiss to the very corner of his mouth. She giggled slightly at the playfully annoyed look on his face and shook her head, walking forwards while sipping on her soda.

"Hey, hold on, not so fast," Eli stated, looping a finger through one of the belt loops on the back of her jeans and pulling her towards him again. "You know that's not what I meant."

"You didn't specify where," Alyssa responded.

Eli shook his head. "You drive me crazy."

Alyssa shrugged, a smug smile on her face. "In a good way, I hope."

"In the best way."

She went to go walk away again. "Anyways, back to the movie. Maybe we should go suggest—"

His finger was still looped in the belt loop on her jeans, however. He tugged her back, spinning her into him. Eli looked down at her, smirking slightly as he placed his hands on her hips. Alyssa stared back up at him, her face feeling warm. The one hand that wasn't holding her soda gently fisted just a tiny bit of the hoodie he was wearing.

"You can't just pull me into you every time you want something, you know," Alyssa told him.

"Oh, yeah?" Eli inquired playfully.

"Yeah." Alyssa's eyes glinted. "Maybe if you asked, I wouldn't be walking away right now and not giving you one."

She moved to go back towards the concession stand to get him a Reese's (she knew he wanted one), but immediately gasped when she felt her body collide with another's. Instantly, a whole bunch of snacks and drinks tumbled to the ground, spilling everything everywhere. Alyssa looked up from the ground to see it was a kid, about the same age as her little brother Jackson, wearing a Cobra Kai shirt. The kid's eyes were wide, but he didn't seem scared of her. He seemed to be scared of the boy standing next to her.

"I'm sorry," the kid said.

"No, that was totally my fault," Alyssa replied. "Are you okay?"

"You should really watch where you're going, kid," Eli said, almost tauntingly.

"Yeah, same goes for you," a new, familiar voice then cut in.

Alyssa looked up. None other than Robby Keene was walking towards them. It was the first time she had seen him in months — the last memory she had of him was watching him run away after Miguel fell off the balcony. But Sam had told her that Robby joined Cobra Kai, which made Alyssa's chest sting. Seemed a bit hypocritical coming from him, considering he was the one who said once a Cobra Kai, always a Cobra Kai, but even Sam couldn't convince him to leave.

"No, Robby, really, this was all me," Alyssa insisted as Bert and Nate joined her and Eli. "I didn't watch where I was going and I ran into him. This is my fault."

Eli stared at Robby, placing a hand on the small of Alyssa's back. "Look who it is."

"You betrayed Miyagi-Do," Nate voiced. "Traitor."

"Oh, there's a traitor here for sure," the voice of Tory Nichols interjected, and Alyssa rolled her eyes as she walked up to them with a couple other Cobra Kai's. She knew who she was talking about, and it was the boy right next to her. "He's gonna get what he deserves."

"Like hell he will," Alyssa argued.

Tory looked over at her and smirked. "You don't look too intimidating, Bubblegum."

Alyssa rolled her eyes. "Yeah, my hair's fucking pink, but it doesn't mean shit." She then looked down and sighed. "The jacket isn't helping my case, is it?"

Sam then walked up to them, along with the rest of Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang. "I don't think so. Not if I have anything to say about it, Princess."

Alyssa didn't know what that meant. But by judging from how Tory's expression slightly faltered, something had to have happened.

"Hey, guys," Demetri said, standing in between the two lines they made of separating dojos. "Can you believe that they have Mr. Pibb and Dr. Pepper?"

All of them slowly looked at him.

Alyssa closed her eyes in exasperation. "Demetri."

"Oh, shit," Demetri complained. "Not another rumble."

"Careful, LaRusso," Tory warned. "Your mommy isn't here to play peacemaker."

"What's that supposed to mean?" Sam demanded.

"Guys, stop," Miguel swiftly interjected. "Okay, we can't do this. We'll beat 'em on the mat."

"Oh, really?" Robby countered. "You do remember what happened the last time we fought, right?"

Alyssa's eyes immediately narrowed. No fucking way — he took that too far. Miguel could've been paralyzed if it wasn't for that surgery, and not to mention, he could've died.

She went to go take a step forwards toward Robby, her grip tightening on the soda cup she had. However, Eli wrapped his arms around her, pulling her back into his chest. She huffed in annoyance, but stayed in her spot anyways, not bothering to shake his grip off of her.

Miguel nodded. "Okay. Meet us at the baseball diamond in thirty minutes." He then sent an accusatory glance at Tory. "And no weapons."

"Yeah, we won't need 'em," Tory responded.

"Yeah."

Alyssa glared at them harshly before turning around. Eli stuck to her side like glue, one of his arms still around her waist.

"You look pissed," Eli commented.

"Good, because I am," Alyssa replied. "Robby shouldn't have said that. I was literally one second away from taking my earrings out."

Alyssa slid back into the drivers seat, and everyone that had come with her got in their respective seats as well. She turned on her car and buckled her seatbelt before looking in the rearview mirror.

"Miguel, we're really fighting them?" Alyssa questioned.

"Just drive, Als," Miguel said. "You'll see when we get there."

She put her car in reverse. "Okay, if you say so."

Her question was quickly answered when Miguel instructed her to park on a street besides the nearby baseball diamond. No, they weren't fighting them — at least not physically.

Thirty minutes passed, and all of the Cobra Kai's sauntered out onto the diamond, ready and on high alert. Alyssa watched out her windshield as the lights started to turn off. The Cobra Kai's glanced around, obviously expecting an attack. What they didn't expect was for all of the sprinklers to turn on, completely drenching them from head to toe.

"Dude, genius move!" Eli exclaimed. "We didn't even have to throw a punch!"

Demetri clapped Miguel on the shoulder. "My favorite kind of victory."

The show could only last for so long. Alyssa turned on her car and drove off down the street, leaving the baseball diamond and sopping wet Cobra Kai's behind. As she drove down the street, she glanced in the rearview mirror, only to see Sam slightly frowning in the backseat. Well, that wouldn't do.

"Sam, what song do you want on?" Alyssa asked, focusing her eyes back on the road.

"You're giving her aux?" Eli complained. "But I'm in the passenger seat."

"Who said you had rights? Certainly not me."

"What do you mean I don't have rights—"

Alyssa reached over and pushed his face away. "Enough from you." She looked in the rearview again. "What's it gonna be, Sammy?"

Sam let out a small sigh. "Maybe just shuffle the playlist and see what comes on."

"You got it." Alyssa picked her phone up out of her cup holder and held it out to Eli. "Be a dear and shuffle the playlist called Car Rides With Ally and Sam on my Spotify?"

Eli took her phone. "There is no way you just said be a dear."

"Just do it," Alyssa responded.

"Also, I can't believe you have a playlist dedicated to Sam." He looked over at her, smirking slightly. "Do you have a playlist dedicated—"

"You know what? I'm actually done listening to you for the day. Be quiet and put on the playlist."

A very familiar song then started to sound throughout her car. Alyssa grinned brightly and reached forwards, turning the dial to make the volume of Style louder. She looked in the rearview once more to see Sam was cracking just the tiniest grin at the song.

"Samantha LaRusso, if you don't scream this with me right now, we're no longer friends," Alyssa stated.

"Ally, I can never pass up this song," Sam insisted.

Eli looked to the backseat with wide eyes. Besides Alyssa and Sam looking like they were preparing for the performance of a lifetime while in the car, Miguel and Demetri looked completely calm, like this was normal.

(It was.)

"I'm guessing you've never experienced Ally and Sam in the car together," Miguel said loudly over the music of the beginning of the song.

Eli shook his head. "Not at all."

"Oh, prepare yourself," Demetri explained. "This happens every time. Every time."

"Midnight, you come and pick me up, no headlights, long drive, could end in burning flames or paradise," Alyssa sang, dramatically placing her hand on her chest. "Fade into view, oh, it's been a while since I have even heard from you."

Sam lifted up her fist by her mouth to pretend she had a microphone. "I should just tell you to leave 'cause I know exactly where it leads but I watch us go 'round and 'round each time."

"You got that James Dean daydream look in your eye, and I got that red lip classic thing that you like, and when we go crashing down, we come back every time, 'cause we never go out of style, we never go out of style," the two practically screamed. "You got that long hair, slicked back, white t-shirt, and I got that good girl faith and a tight little skirt, and when we go crashing down, we come back every time, 'cause we never go out of style, we never go out of style."

"Take it away, Miguel!" Alyssa shouted.

Miguel sighed, knowing better than to argue with them — and because he liked the song. "So it goes, he can't keep his wild eyes on the road, takes me home, lights are off, he's taking off his coat."

"Demetri?" Sam asked.

He rolled his eyes. "I say, I heard, oh, that you've been out and about with some other girl, some other girl."

Alyssa picked up where he left off. "He says, What you've heard is true but I can't stop thinking about you and I."

"I said, I've been there, too, a few times."

As the chorus started up again and Alyssa, Sam, Miguel, and Demetri all sang together, the one who kept quiet managed to sneak a glance to the girl right next to him. Alyssa's face was being illuminated by the street lights that they passed, and unlike the angry state she had earlier, she seemed so . . . calm now. Like this, driving down an empty road while listening to Taylor Swift with her friends, was exactly where she was meant to be.

Alyssa looked over at Eli as the bridge started, along with the voices from the backseat. "Even you can't resist this song." She put her eyes back on the road . "Come on, doesn't it remind you of us?"

Eli sighed. Well, he couldn't argue with that, because it did.

And as the chorus started to play again, Eli joined in with their screaming. Alyssa's smile widened on her face, and for a second she forgot about what had just happened, letting her heart soar as she sang with her friends.

ALL OF THEM were reeling from the victory they had last night — well, most of them. Alyssa sensed that something was off with Sam ever since she was frowning in the backseat of her car. Today wasn't any different. She stood with them as they stretched before practice, her arms crossed across her chest.

"Henceforth, Miguel Diaz shall be known as The Rainmaker," Demetri announced.

"El Diablo de la Lluvia!" Eli added.

Alyssa shook her head in amusement. "You and your Spanish."

"Yeah, but if they hadn't fallen for it, we still would've beaten them," Sam insisted.

"Maybe, but there's still so many ways it could've gone bad," Miguel said.

"What could've gone bad?" Sensei Lawrence asked, who had just walked into the backyard.

"We were about to get in a gnarly fight at the drive-in, Sensei, but Miguel saved the day," Eli revealed.

"Oh yeah? How'd you do that?"

"Told the Cobra Kai's to come to the baseball diamond, just in time for the grass to get watered," Miguel answered.

Sensei Lawrence's face visibly fell. "So you picked a fight, you didn't show up, and then you doused them with a hose?"

"Oh, it was sprinklers," Demetri corrected. He then noticed the look Sensei Lawrence gave him. "I'll go back to saying nothing."

"You just poked the bear. What do you think's gonna happen? You think they're just gonna leave well enough alone?"

"From everything I heard about last night, it sounds to me like Miguel practiced restraint," Sensei LaRusso cut in. "Found a way to get out of a bad situation without anyone getting hurt. What did you want him to do, get in a drive-in switchblade fight?" He looked at Miguel. "I'm proud of you. You've taken Miyagi-Do teachings to heart."

"Okay, LaRusso, we need to have a little talk," Sensei Lawrence stated.

Alyssa's eyes flickered between the two Sensei's. Oh, well this wasn't good.

Sensei LaRusso's eyes then stuck on something behind Sensei Lawrence, and everything about it seemed panicked. "What the . . ."

Alyssa followed his gaze. Walking into the backyard was Kreese and someone else she didn't recognize, but Sensei LaRusso obviously did.

"Gentlemen," the one she didn't recognize greeted. "It seems we have a few things to discuss."

Alyssa suddenly felt Eli stiffen besides her. She looked over at him to see him staring at Kreese, his gaze hard and his jaw slightly clenched. Alyssa couldn't exactly blame him for that reaction — after all, he was arguably the one who was the most manipulated by Kreese.

She reached up and placed a comforting hand on the top of his arm, giving it a light squeeze. Eli looked down at her, and everything about him softened a little bit.

Sensei LaRusso instructed them all to go inside. And so they did — all of them went inside one of the rooms and shut the door behind them. However, they all stayed by the door, trying to listen into a muffled conversation. They waited until everyone was distracted to quietly open up the doors. Alyssa peered outside, only to see that Sensei LaRusso was talking angrily to the one guy with Kreese.

"Your dad is pissed," Miguel commented. "Who is that guy?"

"I have no idea," Sam admitted.

"He looks like a Highlander," Bert said.

"The Highlander," Nate corrected. "There can be only one."

They shut the doors again. Alyssa hoped that Kreese could feel her harsh glare on the side of his face. For that other guy . . . she didn't know him, but just the sight of him was sending shivers down her spine. And considering Sensei LaRusso was so defensive towards him, something obviously happened between them.

She then looked up. Eli still seemed on-edge from seeing his old Sensei. His hands were fidgeting — a nervous habit that he had had forever.

"Hey," Alyssa called quietly, making Eli look down at her. "I just — I'm glad you got out of Cobra Kai when you did. I really don't like Kreese, but something about that other guy . . . he seems even worse."

Eli offered her a tiny smile before leaning down, pressing a kiss to her forehead. "Me alegro de haberme ido también, porque puedo estar contigo."

She blinked, her cheeks feeling warm. "It's really hard to understand you when you're speaking a different language."

"Don't worry about it." He then paused for a second. "Hey, Lys, your favorite color's still purple, right?"

"Yeah, why?"

Eli shrugged. "No reason."

She gave him a suspicious look. There was definitely a reason behind it, but what, she didn't know.
