⋆ ཾ༵༵༅ 17 ~ Recruits

Stark arrived at the new compound that was made specifically for the Avengers to gather, stay, train, etc. As he was pulling up, the quinjet could be seen in the distance, landing on a nearby platform. The vehicle Stark had happened to be driving was an orange Audi.

New Avengers Facility
Upstate New York

Distant conversations were taking placing as Hill was walking alongside Dr Helen Cho; discussing some matters on what needed to be done. Dr. Selvig was also shown walking with a few researchers as he motioned for one of them to place some files on a nearby desk.

As the place was buzzing with people working and getting things done, Natasha stood alone in an area that was vacant. The same area where it had a great view of the outside front field. A ding noise alerted her as she pulled out her Samsung and took a look at the new message. It was from Laura, and it was a 20 second video of the newborn that wore a shirt reading Nathaniel Pietro Barton.

"Look! Say hi to Auntie Nat!" Laura could be heard speaking in the clip. The motion made the former assassin smile before she called him fat. Placing her phone away after watching the video, Fury's voice spoke up.

"One of our tech boys flagged this. Splashed down in the Banda Sea. Could be the Quinjet. But with Stark's stealth tech, we still can't track the damn thing." He told her as he revealed the information on a tablet.

"Right." She replied with a small nod.

"Probably jumped out and swam to Fiji. He'll send a postcard." He attempted on reassuring her before walking off a few steps.

"Wish you were here.." she started to say which caused him to stop and turn around. "You sent me to recruit him way back when. Did you know then what was gonna happen?"

He walked back up to her the same amount to steps he had taken away. "You never know. You hope for the best, then make do with what you get. I got a great team."

"Nothing lasts forever."

"Trouble, Ms Romanoff. No matter who wins or loses, trouble still comes around." He finished before walking off this time.

"Are you sure you don't want to accompany me on Asgard? You know my people would love to see you again." Thor spoke.

"And as much as I would love to, my home is here. My duty to protect the people while you're gone, is here. Can't leave them defenseless." You replied with a small smile.

"They aren't defenseless. The Avengers are here. Besides, they have new recruits. The new witch mortal and fast mortal."

"Thor, you know what I mean." You said and he nodded.

"You need to go back. Find the stone. The weapon." He mentioned, reading the look on your face and you nodded.

"I need to know if it's true. If it is, it's nearly the one thing that can kill me. The other will take my power, and I cannot allow that to fall into the hands of a mad man."

Thor nodded in full understanding. "I know the right man for the job. Well, he may be willing to help."

"You aren't referring to Stark are you.."

"No. The captain."

"But he has recruits to train. To get them prepared for what is to come."

"Ah, yes. And unfortunately, you know what is to come."

"Thor, my powers have limits. Seeing the future has an extreme limit. I can only see a few years; two max. And, it takes a lot of my power so I don't use it frequently; only when needed."

"Everyone has limits. Limits are to be pushed."

"But these limits aren't, Thor. If I push them, I can get seriously injured. Thor, I appreciate the feedback, but you know what needs to be done; I know what needs to be done. Let's accept that, yes?"

"Yes." He replied with a smile and gave you a hug before looking over to see Stark and Steve gesturing towards him. "I'll be sure to catch up some time." He told you before leaving.

"What was that about?" Stark questioned.

"Farewells. She may come to you later on, Captain. Discuss some matters that need to be tended." Thor said before saying the last part towards Steve.

"Well, we were hoping to have a discussion about her abilities. Needs to know who we're letting in before letting them stay." Steve said and Thor nodded.

"Like I've said, she brings no harm. She has been here since the beginning of time so she knows a great deal of pain, suffering, loss and people. Not to mention history— but she could tell you more herself. That's, if you'll help her of course." Thor mentioned and this perked up Stark's curiosity.

"Help for?" Stark asked.

"She's in search of something and I recommended Steve here." He mentioned. "She wasn't sure herself, knowing you'll want to train the new recruits so she wanted to discuss more about it later." He added and they all nodded.

They all started to walk side by side as they were making their way towards the exit. "The rules have changed." Steve said.

"We're dealing with something new." Stark added.

"Oh, the Vision is artificial intelligence." Steve said

"A machine."

"So it doesn't count?" Steve said and Thor smiled from their small bickering.

"No, it's not like a person lifting the hammer."

"Right, different rules for us."

"Nice guy. Artificial."

"Thank you."

"He can wield the hammer, he can keep the Mind Stone. It's safe with the Vision. And these days, safe is in short supply. Speaking of, Y/n can also wield the hammer as well as protect you all. With the power she possesses, her and Vision can stop anything. Well, Y/n can practically stop anything with a snap of her fingers but her powers can come at a price." He mentioned and both Rogers and Stark thought about it for a moment before returning to the hammer.

"But if you put the hammer in an elevator...." Steve said and Thor smiled again; wanting to laugh at their tactics.

"It'll still go up." Stark gestured to Steve

"Elevator's not worthy." Steve muttered

"I'm gonna miss these little talks of ours." Thor started to say as he placed a hand on Tony's shoulder.

"Not if you don't leave." Stark suggested

"I have no choice. The Mind Stone is the fourth of the Infinity Stones to show up in the last four years. It's not a coincidence. Someone has been playing an intricate game and has made pawns of us. And once all these pieces are in position..." Thor started to say

"Triple Yahtzee." Tony said

"You think you can find out what's coming?" Steve asked Thor

"I do. Y/n can too but her power in that specific field is limited so there's not much she can tell you." Thor said before adding. "Besides this one, there's nothing that can't be explained." He gestured towards Tony before walking a few steps away from them. That's when the bifröst opened and took him up.

Both Tony and Steve looked at the large marking that was now imprinted in the ground.

"That man has now regard for lawn maintenance." Tony started to tell Steve as they started to walk towards his car. "I'm gonna miss him, though. And you're gonna miss me. There's gonna be a lot of manful tears."

"I will miss you, Tony" Steve spoke

"Yeah? Well, it's time for me to tap out. Maybe I should take a peg out of Barton's book. Build Pepper a farm, hope nobody blows it up."

"The simple life."

"You'll get there one day."

"I don't know. Family, stability... the guy who wanted all that went in the ice 75 years ago. I think someone else came out."

Tony nodded as he stepped into his vehicle. "You all right?"

Steve turned to look at the compound as he heard the soldiers in the distances chanting along with their officer. "I'm home." He told Stark before looking back over at him.

"Oh, and don't keep Y/n waiting. Find out more information on here if you can. Keep me posted." Stark mentioned before leaving.

Steve headed in and in search of Natasha before finding her still in the same spot she was before; except this time she was staring at the wall. "You wanna keep staring at the wall, or do you wanna go to work? I mean, it's a pretty interesting wall."

"Thought you and Tony were still gazing into each other's eyes. How do we look?" She asked him before he handed over the tablet.

"Well, we're not the '27 Yankees."

"We got some hitters. Y/n's still an unknown."

"Got to look more into that. They're good. They're not a team."

"Let's beat them into shape." She spoke as they both entered the room where the recruits were.

Rhodey in the war machine suit as he opened the face part to see Steve better.

Vision turned in his spot to look over as well.

Sam flew in with his wings as he landed and with a smile.

Wanda landed on her spot with her abilities but with a new suit she was given. Pietro stood by here with his suit.

You stood to the far left behind Vision but near Rhodey with a new suit you had conjured up. (The suit will be shown later on. I promise). Sam wasn't aware of you having any sort of abilities but appearing in the same room as him when you teleported in, said otherwise. Which is why he shared a smile with you.

Natasha smiled as both her and Steve took a good look at everyone in the room. "Avengers..."
