💙Chapter 2💙
Prepare now for the solutions of tomorrow.
~African proverb.
I always hated being the new pupil. This time it's worse because I have to be the new pupil in a new country and a new school, which is just double the pain I am used to.
As usual, I sat quietly in my dad's car. I could feel my heart beat a thousand times per second. I could almost see my new school nearby and the nearer I got to the school, the more my heart kept pounding.
"Honey. "
"Ha! What?" I said, startled.
"Wow! relax honey everything will be okay ." My mom said with a concerned look.
"Dad, daddy, father! Please... take ...me... home... I... just... can't do this." I stammered. The rate at which my heart was beating made me run out of breath and even speaking became difficult.
"But honey, we are already here," My mom said. "Maybe you can go tomorrow?"
"What? We are already here ?" I was so caught up in my thoughts that I didn't even realize that we were already on the school premises. Besides, I couldn't blame myself, after all, I had never seen a school that big in the history of all my histories. So I thought it was some hospital or something like that.
Still, I needed to man up, actually not man up, but girl up and face that situation. I was not going to be a coward and give up.
"It's okay mom, I will go."
"Okay honey, but please take a deep breath before you go," My mom said. "Breath in."
I immediately took a deep breath.
"Breath out."
Then I immediately exhaled all the carbon dioxide. I gotta admit, it did completely nothing. My anxiety levels were still high and I was still scared.
"Better ?" My dad asked. I was actually surprised to hear him speak because he was quiet the whole time I was panicking.
"Eh... I guess I will be okay ." I lied.
" You should follow my advice, it is a command." Said my mom with a very serious expression on her face.
"Okay."
I immediately left the car and headed towards the entrance of the school.
When I entered the school, everyone's attention shifted from whatever they were doing to me. I could feel and see so many eyes on me.
Why they were staring at me I had no idea. All I knew was that I needed to go and see the guidance counselor and that was what I was intending to do.
I started looking for his office, but in such a big school I didn't think that would be easy. So I decided to follow Mom's advice and say hi to anyone.
"Hi, my name is..."
"Well don't talk to meh! "A white girl with really well-manicured nails replied.
I know, all I noticed was her nails cause her personality seemed disgusting so let's not be negative but instead look at something positive about her, which was her nails ." I don't know who you are or what you are so please go away."
"Um..."
"Didn't I clearly say that you shouldn't talk to meh?" She said to me with a sneer ." I guess you don't understand English or maybe I should call my boyfriend to teach you a lesson, after all, he is on the football team."
I wanted to open my mouth to say a word but apparently, she already started calling her boyfriend and before you know it, her boyfriend showed up. He was tall, with blonde hair and blue eyes.
He wore a simple blue shirt and that shirt just made it evident that he was on the football team. I could see his well-toned arms and torso, I could even see his abs through that shirt. Basically, a super cute hunk which made me wonder what he was doing with a jerk like her.
"This thing is disturbing meh! "She said brusquely.
"Kassy! That's very rude. You don't have to talk to her like that!" The cute hunk replied.
"I don't care I can speak to anyone however I like. I am leaving cause apparently, you stopped backing me up. Come talk to me when you are ready to apologize for your sin." She said, then immediately walked away.
"I am sorry about her, she can be quite a diva at times, anyways what did you want to know? " The cute hunk said while raising a brow at me.
"I just wanted to know where the guidance counselors office is. I am new at this school so I don't know anything about it ."
"Well, I can tell because I have never seen anyone who looks like you in this school and no one ever asks Kassy to help them with anything." He said giggling a bit.
"Oh I see... so where is his office?" I rubbed my left arm. I don't know why but I was very nervous being around him.
"Well, I can take you there if you don't mind?"
"Really? You just did me a favor because I suck at directions and I am sure that if you simply showed me the way, I would have probably gotten lost ." I said promptly.
"Yeah I know, I was actually staring at you whilst you were trying to find your way. I wanted to help, but then you approached Kassy so I guess now I can help you." He said smiling.
The fact that he was staring at me flattered me a bit.
"Yeah okay," I said, trying to hide that I was flattered.
"So what's your name?" He asked, seeming interested.
"My name is Luna Dawns."
"Your name is Luna Dawns? It is kinda nice and weird at the same time ."
I almost got flattered when he said it is kinda nice but when he said 'it is kinda weird at the same time 'I almost got upset.
"Okay, then what is your name?" I asked brusquely.
" Tristan Farts."
"Ha! Really? " I said whilst laughing. Causing him to laugh as well.
"Not really. My name is Tristan Klein."
"Ah... but I liked Mr. Farts better. "I said, laughing even more than before.
"Whatever Ms. Dawns, but please don't call me that it was only a joke to make you calm down because it seemed like you were upset that I called your name weird."
"I guess it worked cause I was upset," I said this time cheerfully.
"Were here." He chuckled.
"What, already? "I said when I just realized that we were already standing near the office written guidance counselor. I was so busy staring at the floor that I didn't even notice that we went that far.
"Thank you so much, Tristan!" I said, shifting my view from the floor to him.
" It was my pleasure. See ya later and have a nice day." Tristan said politely.
"Thanks and same to you."
I was so busy staring at the floor that I didn't even notice that people were staring at us when we were walking together. It's kinda creepy. Even when he left, the students still kept staring at me, I naturally hate being stared at because it makes me worry that I might have pooped my pants or something like that.
I couldn't handle the weird looks, so I immediately entered the guidance counselors office, and when I did he just stood staring at me in the same way all the others students were. Which made me wonder if I really pooped my pants. I know I didn't because I would have felt it.
"Hello, sir," I said kindly.
"So you're Luna Dawns?" He said with his eyes widened in shock.
"Um... yeah," I said, perplexed.
"Oh... I thought you were a white person ." He muttered.
"Why?"
"Your name sounds like that of a white person." He mumbled.
" Um... Okay, but is it bad that I am black?"
"No! It is actually good that you are black cause you're different from all the pupils in this school." He said politely.
"Different! In what way?" I asked with grimace.
"You're the only black person in this school ."
"Really?" That was when I started to understand why people kept staring at me.
" Is that a bad thing?" I said with a frown.
"No, not at all! "He replied ." I know having you here will be different to most students but they will eventually learn to accept you."
"Accept me?" I said perplexed.
"Yeah! This school has never had a black student."
"Um... Okay... I guess, but why ?"
"I don't know! But I would advise you to be yourself." He said. "Don't change yourself for others liking and remember to embrace who you are."
"Thanks, sir. "
"Na problem and please don't call me sir, call me Mr. Jordan."
" Alright, Mr. Jordan."
"Your first class is about to start, so hurry!"
"Oh... okay sir, I mean Mr. Jordan."
"And if you have any problems you can come to my office."
" Okay, Mr. Jordan."
When I left his office, no one was outside because apparently everyone went to class.
"First class is mathematics," I said aloud because no one was in the hallways.
I actually love mathematics because for some reason I am really good at it.
To be honest, I am just hoping Tristan is in one of my classes. He was so kind to me and all I hoped for, was that we could be friends.
After being treated by Kassy like that, I am sure no matter what insults I was going to be fired with, I would handle it and who knows maybe I could meet others like Tristan.
I knocked on the classroom door because according to my culture entering a room without knocking is disrespectful.
"Come in!" A really deep voice yelled.
When I did, everyone started laughing. Why they were laughing I had no idea.
"Why did you knock?" The teacher asked making it evident who that deep voice belonged to.
"Um... I didn't want to disrupt the class, so I had to respectfully enter the classroom. "I said, terrified.
"She said the cless!" Some random student shouted.
Before you know it, everyone started laughing even more than before.
"Hush! Quiet now!" The teacher yelled. Then the students finally kept quiet.
"Miss, never knock because you have disrupted the class even more than you intended to. Now take a seat!" He said brusquely.
I gotta admit that sir was so rude, I wish he told me where exactly to take a seat. Because I started looking for Tristan but no sign of him, I guess he was not in the same class.
"Come on!" The teacher sighed. "Miss, go and seat next to Katherine."
I started walking towards my seat and then I took a seat. I was determined to be silent because of fear of being made fun of again.
"Who can solve this ?" The teacher asked waiting for one of his pupils to raise their hand. But still, no one seemed to be willing to solve.
I looked at the question it was a calculus question, I have always loved calculus, but I was not willing to raise my hand and solve, because in my previous school all my classmates hated it when I would go and solve a question. They would give me really horrible faces.
But watching the teacher standing there hoping for one student to raise their hand just made me feel pity for him so I raised my hand.
"Oh.. miss you can come and solve it. "The teacher said sounding relieved.
I started solving it and eventually, I was done.
"Oh my God!" The teacher said really surprised.
"What's wrong Sir?" I asked, really curious.
"You just solved that in 1 minute!"
"So..."
"No one has ever solved such a question that fast!" He said still in shock. It didn't surprise me but it seemed like everyone else was also surprised because they started applauding.
"You need to participate in one of the school's math competitions, in fact, you need to join our math club and have the opportunity to represent our school alongside many other geniuses ." He said hastily.
"Wow! So much for solving just one question. I will think about it." I said politely.
"You better ... wow I didn't even ask your name ." He said joyfully.
"My name is Luna Dawns."
"Okay genius, please take a seat ." He said politely.
I have to admit even though math class started badly it just went on nicely. No one really talked to me but I liked it that way.
