2.1 | Wake Up

Cordelia sighed in contentment as light kisses were pressed against her cheek then her nose and then each of her closed eyelids. "Wake up, starlight," A voice coaxed her out of her sleep, she opened her eyes to see Stefan leaning over her with a smile on his face. "G'Morning," Cordelia muttered out sleepily. "How was your sleep?" Stefan asked her as his arms wrapped around her waist, pulling her into his arms. "It was good. Peaceful," Cordelia replied before looking over at the closet door, her brows knitted together in confusion as whispers came from it. "Baby?" Stefan called, placing his fingers under her chin to turn her attention back to him.

"Are you okay?" Stefan asked Cordelia who took a deep breath. "Just a strange dream, I guess," Cordelia replied to him before she leaned forward and kissed him, however, she pulled away and furrowed her brows. "Wait... this... you're with Elena," Cordelia whispered making Stefan laugh slightly. "Elena? She's with Damon, remember? They got together after Elena broke it off with me realising I was meant for you and Damon was meant for her," Stefan reminded her, he lightly knocked against her head, "Hello. Surely, your dream wasn't so weird that you forgot." Cordelia wasn't sure what she was thinking, her mind felt like a puzzle piece with missing parts.

"How about we stay in today? In bed, us two?" Stefan offered her, she nodded her head and he leaned forward to kiss her. "I'll grab snacks and let the others know not to disturb us," Stefan told her before giving her another quick kiss, leaving the room to do so. Cordelia laid back in the bed with a smile, she turned her head to look at the dresser only to notice photos that she was sure didn't exist. The blonde got out of the bed and made her way over, she picked up the first photo frame she saw; her in a wedding dress with Lexi, Bonnie and Elena as her bridesmaids and Caroline clearly her maid of honour.

Her eyes then turned to the next photo that was of Cordelia, Jeremy and Tyler as they all smiled and held up peace signs. The third photo was of Stefan, Lexi and Cordelia all together at a concert, they all had bright smiles on their faces. "Best moments of our lives," Stefan's voice spoke as he put snacks onto the bed. "Yeah, they are..." Cordelia breathed out when a whisper bought her attention back to the closet door. "I was thinking we could watch Hart of Dixie or do a Lord of the Rings marathon, what do you think?" Stefan asked the blonde. "Uh, Lord of the Rings sounds good," Cordelia replied as she stepped closer to the closet, tilting her head as the whispers seem to come from it.

"What are you doing?" Stefan's voice was closer now, he stood next to her as he held her wrist that had been reaching for the doorknob. "I, uh... was just grabbing some clothes," Cordelia replied to him, she noticed the fearful look in his eyes. "Why? We're staying in bed and I like when you wear my clothes," Stefan told her. "Yeah, I know but... I wanna wear my fluffy pants," Cordelia told him, he chuckled. "C'mon, I want cuddles," Stefan whined as he moved to pull her along, she sighed and let him when she heard the door open. "Wait, let me close the door," Cordelia told him. "No, baby, just leave it and come back to bed," Stefan said to her, an undertone of fear in his voice.

"I don't like having the closet door open, you know that," Cordelia told him as she moved towards the door. "Cordelia, leave it alone," Stefan pleaded suddenly. "Deja vu..." Cordelia whispered, "I've seen this before." She looked around the room before rushing to close the door, she leaned back against it to see Stefan gone and her bedroom was now completely empty and bland. "What is happening?" Cordelia pondered, her voice echoing through the liminal space. "I'm not awake, am I?" Cordelia questioned as she dropped to her knees, memories of what happened during the fireworks flashed through her mind. "I don't wanna die..." Cordelia pleaded softly.

Jeremy sat by Cordelia's bed, he held her hand in his own and listened to the tube that assisted her breathing. It had been two days since Cordelia was rushed into hospital, she had undergone surgery however, there had been a complication and they lost her on the table before they managed to bring her back; she had been hooked up to the incubator since. "School sucked today... and you were right. Tyler and I have become pretty good friends now and... Matt forgave him for making out with his mother," Jeremy updated his best friend hoping she could hear his voice, "But uh, Damon told me and Bonnie that Katherine had made her appearance. She pretended to be Elena and kissed Damon, so you need to wake up and tease Damon about it."

He sighed with sad frown, "The doctors say that Caroline is already making great improvements. Damon fed her his blood knowing you would want your sister by your side when you wake up." Elena stood by the door listening as her little brother spoke to Cordelia's unconscious body, "Alaric is doing his best to watch over Damon for you, they've become pretty good friends. But we all know Damon won't be himself again until you wake up." Elena knocked lightly on the door, "It's time to go, Jenna's waiting for us." Jeremy looked at Elena, his eyes focused on her necklace first noticing the vervain necklace before he turned to Cordelia. "I'll be back tomorrow," Jeremy promised before kissing her hand, leaving with his sister.

After a few minutes, another person walked into the room being cautious of who could have been watching. "My, my, my, look at the state of you," Omari spoke as he looked down at her, "It'd be so quick and easy to end you here and now." He brushed his finger against her cheek, he scowled as he pulled his hand away and whispered a spell, a black mist forming in the palm of his hand and he held it over her heart however, he hesitated. Slowly the mist faded away and Omari scoffed before leaning closer to Cordelia, "It's not a fair fight if you're already weak. Until you have reached your full potential, I won't bother." And with that, he left the room.

Caroline had woken up just after lunch on the third day, Liz had been so relieved to see her improving health and Matt had stayed by her side. Once the doctors had done their check up confirming that Caroline would be perfectly okay, Liz told her eldest daughter about Cordelia's condition. The older Forbes twin had rushed into her sisters room, tears filling her eyes as she stumbled at the sight of her younger twin laying in a bed with a tube in her throat. Bonnie tried to reassure her but nothing seemed to work, Caroline wouldn't be completely okay until her little sister opened her eyes and smiled her way again.

"Why didn't the blood work for her?" Caroline asked Damon, the two were sitting in Cordelia's room during visiting hours. "We don't know. It's worked in the past and Bonnie has no answers but she looking for them," Damon said before sighing, "Ric thinks... she burned it out of her system... that maybe she... doesn't want to fight." Caroline looked at Damon before turning back to look at Cordelia, "No way. Cordelia and I have an agreement, no death until we've both had our happy ever afters." Damon smiled slightly at the eldest Forbes' words, he could fully believe both girls fighting to make that happen. "She'll wake up, I know she will," Caroline whispered, the room falling silent after that.

Cordelia sat in the middle of the large white room, it seemed dull and from the naked eye it looked like it went on forever. She sat with her knees to her chest pondering what was happening with no clear answers, she sniffled as her tears had gone dry. She loathed the idea of leaving her family behind, she was angry that her magic seemed to be powerless for someone claimed to be powerful. Her misty eyes turned to fury as she stood up and screamed in frustration, the entire room shook like an earthquake with her scream and something she could only describe as a shock wave came from her chest.

Caroline gasped as the hospital seemed to shake so suddenly, she turned her head to her sister and noticed the way her eyes seemed to move as though she were looking around. "Cordelia?!" Caroline exclaimed as she stood up, reaching for her phone to call Damon about what was happening. Her sister was fighting, she had to believe that as she chewed on her bottom lip. "Blondie," Damon greeted though it was clear he wasn't himself. "Did you feel the ground shake?" Caroline asked him. "It's an earthquake, they happened, Caroline," Damon taunted in an annoyed tone. "It was Cordelia, Damon," Caroline told him, he had frozen at that.

Cordelia looked down at her hands and furrowed her brows, something was holding her magic back. Her eyes focused on the room as she noticed the cracks in the walls, her mind slowly putting pieces together as she took notice of the spell. "Oh... Chelsea, you think you're that good," Cordelia muttered, she took a deep breath before letting her magic build into her hands whispering underneath her breath in the process. White mist forms in both of Cordelia's palms, she opens her eyes to reveal a pure white glow before she pushed her arms up with her palms outstretched.

Caroline was sleeping in her own hospital bed when another earthquake struck, she jumped awake only for someone to appear in front of her with a smirk on her face. "This'll be fun," Katherine spoke smothering Caroline with a pillow before she could say anything. Caroline tried to fight of the vampire but knew she stood no chance, her heart was struggling as oxygen failed to get into her lungs. Caroline grew weaker as she slowly went limp, her last breath leaving her lips while Katherine smiled. "Why her?" Another voice asked with their arms crossed. "Because I need someone close to the Starlight, Angie," Katherine replied.

Cordelia's power stopped as she felt it. . . Her sister's final breath. "Nooooo!" Cordelia screamed out, a massive shock wave of power came off of Cordelia and shattered the spell that had encased her. Across town in the Fell Cemetery, Chelsea Porter screamed out in pain as fire consumed her; her heart slow to a stop as she dropped to her knees and hit the ground. In the hospital, Cordelia's eyes widened open and as she went to breath on her own, she felt the tube in her throat and choked. The doctor had rushed in to remove the tube, telling her to cough as he did so easing the tube from her throat. She looked to the window to see that it was dark out, she turned back to the doctor.

After ensuring that the girl was okay, the doctor left to contact her mother however, Cordelia had slipped out of the bed, stumbling on her feet as she grabbed the bag on the chair. She pulled out the skirt and top that had clearly been picked out by Caroline, changing into them before slipping on her Chuck Taylors and tying her hair back out of her face. Sneaking her way out of the hospital following the connection she felt with her twin until she reached the school where the school fair was happening. "Damon!!" Cordelia shouted as he saw him holding the stake ready to kill Caroline who had blood dripping down her chin.

He froze hearing his best friends voice, the blonde Starlight barely acknowledged him as she rushed up to her twin sister and cupped her face in her hands. "It's going to be okay," Cordelia assured her twin. Stefan, Elena and Bonnie caught up to Damon and they all looked from the body laying on the ground to Caroline and Cordelia. "Cordelia?" Bonnie breathed out in shock, she had felt the magic shock waves but seeing the Starlight alive and healthy wasn't what she had been expecting after seeing her pale and unconscious with a tube in her throat. "Caroline..." Bonnie whispered next realising what she had done.

"Bonnie Bennett," Cordelia spoke through gritted teeth as she turned to her, "If you are about to judge my twin for something she had no control over, you and I are going to have a problem." Bonnie stayed silent at those words, the younger Forbes' aura seemed a lot stronger than it did before and it was clear that Bonnie couldn't match her in a fight. "Cori..." Caroline whimpered with fear in her eyes, "I'm a monster." Cordelia shook her head and looked into her eyes, "Caroline Forbes, you are not a monster. You're a vampire but that does not mean you are the monster that lurks in the shadows, okay? You'll get through this, I'll be right here."

Cordelia lead Caroline towards her car, she grabbed some wipes from the bag in the backseat and moved to clean the blood from her sister's chin. "Now I need you to take a deep breath for me and relax," Cordelia encouraged softly. "I knew you'd come back to me," Caroline whispered before taking a deep breath as her sister told her. "It's going to be a tough journey but I know the perfect person to teach you control," Cordelia informed her with a grin, "I shall invite Lexi to stay for a while." Caroline grinned at that, the three blondes had become good friends and often had facetime calls. "Welcome to the world of the Supernatural, sister," Cordelia added as they hugged.

Rosemary Speaks. . .

I'm not sure how I feel about this chapter but oh well... it's out there. Expect a bit of canon divergence from here onwards.

Also, I have a question, please answer;
Should I keep the title as "Amongst The Stars" or change it to "Stargazing", which sounds better to you?

Thoughts, Suggestions or Questions?

See you in the next chapter!
