1.4 | Strange Abilities

Cordelia Forbes remembered none of her strange seizure so when Jeremy told her what had happened, she was shocked trying to understand what had happened. "It was so sudden, Cornflower. Are you sure you're okay?" Jeremy asked as he watched his best friend get dressed for school. "Yeah, I don't remember it. It's blank," Cori replied to him before sighing, "I'm fine, Jer. I feel fine." He watched her carefully as she picked up her phone sighing over it being flat only to drop it when it began sparking. "What the hell?" Cori questioned as the two watched the battery in her phone charge up to one hundred.
"Did you just charge your phone with your hand?" Jeremy asked with wide eyes in awe. "So we both witnessed that then," Cori replied before looking up at Jeremy who was holding out his phone with a smirk, she rolled her eyes before grabbing it from him and focusing on charging it. "At least I won't have to worry about forgetting my charger," Jeremy teased as Cori handed him his fully charged phone. "This is insane to me," Cori muttered before running her fingers through her hair, she walked over to her lamp and focused on it, her eyes widened as it turned on without her touching it.
She turned to Jeremy before focusing on the loose items within her room, they all began to lift from their places slowly spinning throughout the room while Jeremy watched with a large smile on his face. "Magic..." Jeremy breathed out before looking at Cori, "That's what it was! It was your magic breaking free." Cori nodded at Jeremy's words, it made sense that it was the comet that did it as anyone knew that comets had symbols in magic as Shelia always talked about that so she shouldn't have been surprised that this was the lock-in moment of change. "My best friend is a powerful witch," Jeremy breathed out with a grin.
"A WHAT?!" Caroline's voice startled the two causing all of the items to drop to the floor, a plushie landing on Jeremy's head. "Caroline, I can explain!" Cori immediately said noticing the wide eyed expression on Caroline's face, she looked from the former floating items to Jeremy before looking at Cordelia. "Explain. Now!" Caroline demanded as she stepped into the room and closed the door behind her, Cordelia sighed before she began telling her older sister everything she had told Jeremy; excluding the existence of Vampires as that was Stefan's story to tell but she had emphasized the importance of Vervain.

Caroline, Cordelia and Jeremy arrived at school and the older Forbes was star struck at the knowledge that her sister was a witch and that meant that Bonnie Bennett was too. Cori decided it was time to confront Bonnie and hope the two could work together to learn how to control it; clearly a talk with Shelia Bennett would be necessary too. Caroline left to speak with her squad while Jeremy made Cori promise to call if she needs him before rushing to class before he was any later. This left Cori alone as she watched Damon Salvatore drop Angela off to school, she raised her brows at the scarf around her neck knowing she despised them.
Cori walked over to Damon before he got into his car, "Please don't tell me you've made a compelled snack out of her." Damon turned his head to Cori and smirked, "Believe it or not, she's actually more than willing. Something about a book she read and how she knew her destiny tied with a handsome vampire." Cori rolled her eyes and crossed her arms with a slight glare that actually made Damon's smirk drop. "I'm being serious. The only compulsion is ensuring she doesn't tell anyone what I am and that's it. Everything else is strangely consensual," Damon explained to her with a shrug.
"Angela is obsessed with Twilight, she probably thinks she's living some Bella Swan reality," Cori expressed with a sigh, "And you're intentions when you're over her?" Damon shrugged at that and Cori didn't bother to ask further, she turned to walk away when Damon called out to her. "Are you doing better?" Damon asked. "Yeah, I am. Thank you for last night Damon, you could've kept walking but you didn't so head to the Grill, I had Samuel put aside a nice bottle of bourbon for you," Cori answered him before walking away leaving a smiling Damon and a concerned Stefan who had seen and heard the conversation.

In history class, Cori was drawing in her sketchbook like she usually does in Tanner's class. She turned her head slightly to Bonnie who seemed to be zoned out, she made a mental note to check on the girl after class. "World War II ended in... Anyone got anything? Miss Juan?" Tanner asked a student who shook their head making him sigh, "1945." Cori's attention was taken by Elena whispering to Stefan, "FYI... Our team sucks. They could use you." Cori knew why Stefan was avoiding the football team, his strength and reflexes are sort of cheating. "Can't. I'm a loner," Stefan whispered back as Tanner continued talking.
"Pearl Harbour. Miss Gilbert?" Tanner spoke gaining her attention though it was clear she wasn't paying attention, "Pearl Harbour?" Elena didn't know the answer so Cordelia spoke, "December 7, 1941." Tanner turned to the blonde that was still sketching despite answering him, "Thank you, Miss Gilbert." Cori saluted him sarcastically as she focused on shading. "Very well. How about the Fall of the Berlin Wall?" Tanner asked causing Cori to look up, she didn't have the answer to that one. "1989," Stefan answered as he glanced at Cori before focusing on Tanner, "I'm good with dates, sir." Tanner turned his attention to Stefan leaving Cori relieved to have the attention off of her.
"Are you? How good?" Tanner pondered before testing him, "Keep it to the year. Civil Rights Act." Stefan didn't hesitate to answer, "1964." Cori smirked as she watched the two. "John F. Kennedy assassination," Tanner quizzed. "1963," Stefan responded instantly. "Martin Luther King?" Tanner asked with a glare. "'68," Stefan replied with a calm demeanour. "Lincoln?" Tanner asked as he leaned forward slightly, Cori had completely pushed her book to the side as Stefan answered, "1865." Admittedly, Cori never thought something as simple as this could be attractive and yet, Stefan was flawlessly answering without mistake.
"Roe vs Wade," Tanner asked him as Cori's eyes were focused purely on Stefan who smiled, "1973." Cori knew his reason for knowing this was because he had been around for a while but intellect was still an attractive trait. "Brown vs Board," Tanner continued determined to trip Stefan up somewhere. "1954," Stefan replied as he noticed Cori's dazed expression on him through his peripherals, he didn't understand why but the flutter he felt at that was something he had never felt before. "The Battle of Gettysburg," Tanner seethed out. "1863," Stefan taunted while the class watched in awe.
"Korean War," Tanner quizzed receiving another quick response, "1950 to 1953." Tanner jumped up at that, "Ha! It ended in '52." The class was silent as Cori rolled her eyes and began researching on her phone, she smirked when the answer Stefan gave was correct. "Uh, actually, sir, it was '53," Stefan corrected. "Look it up, somebody. Quickly," Tanner instructed the class but Cori stayed silent knowing Tanner wouldn't listen to her. "It was 19...53," One of the boys read out causing Tanner to fall silent in embarrassment. Stefan glanced at Elena before looking at Cori who was grinning, her eyes seemed to sparkle and it made Stefan feel good.

After class, Cordelia watched Stefan and Elena walk off together and she mentally scolded herself for losing herself in something that would never happen; he was with Elena Gilbert and she wouldn't get in between them. She pushed it all away as she headed to the change room to put on some clothes that she could actually cheer in, she headed out to the field and spotted Stefan sitting in the bleachers. "Oh, my God! You're here!" Bonnie cheered as Elena approached her, Cori looked over and smiled slightly. "Yep. I can't be sad girl forever. The only way to get things back to the way they were are to do things that were," Elena expressed.
"Oh, and you're coming to dinner tonight," Elena added as Cori stepped up next to them causing the brunette to turn to her, "And you too!" Cori looked wide eyed at Elena knowing the last dinner she had been invited to was the night Grayson and Miranda had died. "We are?" Bonnie asked confused. "Mm-hmm. You, Cori, Me and Stefan. You have to give him a chance," Elena replied to Bonnie before looking at Cori, "And you are one of our good friends, I want you there." Cori shrugged, she didn't mind because it meant free food and entertainment. "Tonight's no good," Bonnie said before looking at Cori, "Have you seen Caroline? I texted her like a hundred times."
"Don't change the subject, Bonnie Bennett!" Elena lightly scolded, "You're going to be there." Cori looked over at Bonnie as she stretched, "Come on, Bon. It's worth a chance." Bonnie sighed as she looked from Cori to Elena, "Fine. I'll go." Elena smiled while Cori spotted Caroline walking over. "Where is Angela?" Caroline asked the girls but everyone shrugged while Cori sighed, she had a guess the girl was living out her fantasy with a certain blue-eyed Salvatore. "Chelsea, call her!" Caroline demanded, the ginger immediately did as her captain ordered.
Everyone turned their heads as Damon pulled up with Angela in his passenger seat, she wasn't sporting a scarf so Cori assumed that he had healed her and decided to feed off hidden places instead. Angela leaned over and kissed Damon before she got out of the car, Caroline glared at the girl who moved into her place. "You're late," Caroline sneered at her. "I'm here now," Angela snarked back making Cori roll her eyes. "That must be the mystery guy from the Grill," Bonnie said as she had heard the girls gossiping. "That's not a mystery guy. That's Damon Salvatore," Elena told Bonnie who looked at her with wide eyes, "Salvatore, as in Stefan?!"
Cori nodded her head at Bonnie before looking back at Damon as he waved at her, she returned the wave with a half smile as he drove away. "I got the other brother. Hope you don't mind," Angela told Elena before smirking at Cori, "Beat you to it." Cori laughed mockingly before she moved over to her usual spot, she focused on Caroline's count. "Elena, sweetie, why don't you just observe today? Ok?" Caroline asked gently after Angela and Chelsea complained about her stumbling in their way. Cori glared at the two until they suddenly stumbled and fell over, she turned away and took in slow breaths.

Elena, Bonnie and Cordelia are preparing dinner in the kitchen. "You explain it. Last night, I'm watching Nine-o, a commercial break comes on and I'm like, I bet it's that phone commercial. And sure enough, it's that guy and the girl with the bench, he flies to Paris and he flies back; They take a picture," Bonnie explained to the two and while Cori knew what was happening to Bonnie, Elena didn't. "Oh, come on. That commercial's on a constant loop," Elena replied to Bonnie and Cori hummed in agreement with her. "Fine. Well, how about this? Today I'm obsessed with numbers. Three numbers, I keep seeing 8, 14 and 22. How weird is that?" Bonnie asked them.
"Maybe we should play the lottery," Elena teased before becoming serious, "Have you talked to your Grams?" Bonnie sighed at that, "She's just gonna say it's because I'm a witch. I don't want to be a witch. Do you want to be a witch?" Elena shook her head, "I don't want to be a witch." The two turned to Cori who had sipped her Hot Chocolate, "I wouldn't mind being a witch." Elena and Bonnie smiled at her before Bonnie wiped the cocoa froth from Cori's top lip. Elena pours the to-go food into a bowl. "And putting it in a nice bowl isn't fooling anybody," Bonnie told Elena who sighed. "I offered to cook," Cori teased with a grin.
"Ok, serving spoons. Where are the serving spoons?" Elena questioned making Cori laugh to herself as she realised Elena spent no time in the kitchen at all. "Middle drawer on your left," Bonnie answered her casually, Elena opened the drawer to reveal the serving spoons. "Ok, so you've been in this kitchen like a thousand times," Elena told Bonnie who frowned. "Yeah, that's it," Bonnie said as the doorbell rang. "Ok, he's here. Don't be nervous. Just be your normal loving self," Elena told Bonnie who nodded with a half smile as Elena leaves. "Birthday candles," Bonnie muttered before opening the drawer to see birthday candles, she looked at Cordelia who sent her a reassuring smile; things were going to get interesting.
