Akarshika, dressed in a lovely light pink saree, adorned a stunning brown brooch that perfectly complemented her outfit. She opted for minimal jewelry, wearing only small pearl earrings, and had her hair loosely braided.
News reached her that the Pandavas were returning, and she knew that besides Pitamaha, Gandhari, and Dushala, no one was truly happy about their arrival.
Particularly, Duryodhana seemed to be strongly against their return. Jayadrath was with Duryodhan,tt was hardly surprising, considering that this marriage was aimed at consolidating power and forming alliances.
Akarshika mused on the intricate politics of Hastinapur. However, she couldn't help but smile, relieved that he had returned safely. She genuinely cared about him.
She also learned that Yagnaseni, also known as Draupadi, was accompanying Arjuna as his wife.
Akarshika reminisced about her childhood visit to Hastinapur, where Arjuna was the only one who warmly greeted her.
But was he a nice boy? Certainly not! He had called her an ugly tadpole, annoyed her while she was reading, and made her look foolish.
Despite this, she considered him either a friend or, more accurately, a kind frenemy.
Lost in her thoughts, she was interrupted by Subhadra, who called "Indu! "and urged her to come along.
Akarshika followed, with Harsh tagging along behind.
They soon found themselves outside, with Indu positioned behind Gandhari, Bhanumathi, Subhadra and Dushala by her side.
Jayashri stood next to Jayadrath, while Uluka remained in his chamber, sleeping.
Harsh stood behind Akarshika, with Duryodhan, Dushasan, Shakuni, and Karn next to Jayadrath. Dhritarashtra and Bhishm stood at the forefront of the group.
Before long, the Pandavas arrived, dismounting from their horses. Yudhishthir led the way to the elders, followed by his brothers.
One by one, they sought the blessings of the elders. When Dharmraj approached Gandhari, she spoke, "Kalyaan ho." While he smiled, she questioned, "If you were alive, why didn't you come, putr?" Yudhishthir glanced at Duryodhana and his mother, and simply smiled.
During this exchange, Yudhishthir's gaze met Akarshika's, and they shared a brief moment before Akarshika looked away, directing her attention towards Subhadra.
Gandhari then eagerly asked, "Where is our second Kul-Vadhu?" Arjun replied, "Not second Rajmata, but third."
He went on to explain that Bharta Bheem had married Hidimba, and they had a son named Gathothgach.
Arjun's serious tone intrigued Akarshika, as she wondered what could be amiss.
"So bhrata Bheem married a Rakshasi"
Duryodhana, along with his brothers, erupted in laughter.
Unfazed, Bheem glared at them, but his anger went unnoticed by Duryodhana.
Pitamaha shocked Akarshika by stating, "I wouldn't accept him as Kuruvanshi." It puzzled her, as he was his blood. The politics of Hastinapur never failed to surprise her.
However, Pitamaha added, "But I would accept him as my Great-grandson," accompanied by a warm smile.
Akarshika was intrigued. Did this mean he was an outcast to the throne? Just then, Gandhari cheerfully asked, "So, where is our third Kul-Vadhu?" Akarshika's curiosity piqued, as she wanted to catch a glimpse of the Panchal Kanya, so she decided to remain there.
That's when a woman with a strikingly beautiful dark complexion stepped down from the palanquin. Her eyes sparkled, and she appeared both beautiful and fierce in her red saree, adorned with golden jewelry. Her luscious long hair exuded purity, and her walk exuded grace yet fierceness.
Akarshika was in awe, wondering if she was the most beautiful woman present.
The fire born woman, Draupadi, approached Gandhari and sought her blessings.
Akarshika thought, with a smile, that she was not the most beautiful after all, as she joined her hands along with Subhadra and Dushala.
Draupadi responded with a smile, and Gandhari remarked, "I may not see you, but I can surely say you are perfect for my Arjun." Draupadi's smile faded, while Shakuni and Akarshika sensed that something was terribly wrong.
Interrupting the solemn atmosphere, Sahdev called out, "Rajmatha," and Yudhishthir revealed, "We five married Panchali."
Everyone was stunned. Duryodhana exclaimed, "That is adharma," seizing the opportunity to oppose the actions of the Pandavas.
The Kaurvas along with mamashree started laughing.
Jayadrath joined in the laughter.
However, "Don't speak wrongly when you don't know anything, Duryodhana" as he was reprimanded by the son of the pure river Ganga.
Pitamaha concluded, "I knew about this earlier. Ved Vyas, who is said to be an incarnation of Maha Vishnu himself, had foreseen that this union was meant to happen for the future of Aryavarta."
Dhritarashtra, burdened by guilt, accepted the Pandavas.
Akarshika didn't know how to react, but she recalled instances where great women like Prajapati Daksh's mother and Marisha had also married multiple men for the greater good when Vyasa himself had decreed it. Hence, it must have served a significant purpose.
As Akarshika glanced at the Pandavas, she noticed Bhanumathi warmly welcoming them, while Duryodhana, Dushasana, and her own father stormed out in a fit of rage.
Akarshika let out a sigh and looked at Subhadra before walking away from the scene, her mind filled with thoughts and emotions sparked by the unfolding events.
