Chapter 38: A Much Needed Talk
After the battle against Tyrian, the group set up camp in a nearby forest, where they had proceeded to patch up Qrow to the best of their ability. The campfire burned as they all sat around it. Ruby and Setsuna sat together on one log while Ren and Nora sat together on another. Jaune sat by himself on one while Qrow sat on the last one. As for Dante, he just leaned against the nearby large rock, his arms crossed. The two men had finished informing the group about everything they know, considering the Maidens, Magic, Salem and everything that happened at Beacon Tower concerning Pyrrha and Akito. The team of 5 were all just stunned into confused and conflicted silence as they took in this new information. Setsuna especially was surprised, learning that not only was Ozpin the true father of Akito, Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter, but that they all had inherited their father's abilities, such as magic. All of this just made her sigh and hold onto her head, the face of Akito appearing in her mind.
Qrow: "Really? No questions?"
Jaune: "Of course we have questions. This is just... a lot to take in." he said, while glancing down at the burning fire. Qrow just sighed and nodded.
Qrow: "Sure, of course."
Setsuna: "So... Akito, Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter... Their real biological father is Ozpin and all inherit his original abilities?"
Dante: "Yep."
Ruby: "These... 'Maidens'... They're powerful fighters that don't need Dust to use 'Magic'."
Qrow: "Yeah."
Nora: "And there are four of these Maidens. And Akito's sisters, Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter were all the reincarnations of those original Maidens. And since Akito was their brother, that explains why they always vanish into his mind and why at the Docks, he seemed to be running off of this... Magic."
Dante: "Uh huh."
Ren: "And whenever one of the Maidens dies, the power transfers to someone โa femaleโ that they cared about?"
Qrow: "Whoever was in their thoughts last. Important distinction. Best option is someone we can trust. Regardless, their souls become combined in a way."
Jaune: "And that's what you were trying to do to Pyrrha. The night the tower fell. You were trying to turn her into one of them?" The anger ever growing in his tone was obvious to everyone as the blonde clenched his fists.
Qrow: "The previous Fall Maiden, Amber had been attacked. She was young, inexperienced and her assailant, who we now know is Cinder, somehow managed to steal some of her power, but not all of it. We were afraid that if we didn't do something, the rest would go to her as well."
Jaune: "So you forced it on Pyrrha. And Akito knew about this?"
Dante: "Listen, kid. No one forced anything. The situation was clearly explained and Pyrrha was given a choice to make, one that even if she had declined, we would have worked to find another way. But she accepted it in the end. She made her choice. You were there, weren't you? You heard her." Jaune said nothing and stood up before walking away. "And so did Akito. Not only was he Oz's biological Son, making him one of the strongest warriors out there, but he was the best candidate to become Pyrrha's Guardian. And with his sisters' connections to them, he'd be able to monitor all the Maidens' statuses and locations."
Qrow: "...Unfortunately, from what the kid said when he woke up that night, all four of them are gone."
Dante: "And add onto that, Oz is gone too. And you all saw how he was when he let everything sink in..."
Everyone fell into a somber silence, remembering the Maiden sisters and their sacrifice and the night after the Fall, how frantic Akito seemed to have gotten after realizing everything he lost; his best friend, his sisters and his father... all in one night. Dante mumbled to himself, with a small curse before he sighed. Ruby decided to change the topic, to keep the conversation going, her comforting hand patting Setsuna's shoulder.
Ruby: "That guy, Tyrian. Why was he after me"
Qrow: "Well, you definitely painted a target on your back with what you did at Beacon. I told you having Silver Eyes is a rare trait. And the fact that you were able to use them seems to have upset some very powerful people. Not many people know about the Silver Eyes. But those that do aren't very happy that one has surfaced. That's why Dante and I've been keeping an eye on you. In order to make sure you were safe." He then looked at Jaune. "ALL of you."
Ruby: "Well, then, why not just travel with us? It seems like that would've been way easier."
Dante: "That... is the complex part. It's not that simโ" However, he was cut off by none other than Jaune, who was still turned away from the group.
Jaune: "They were using you as bait."
Qrow: "Look, I wouldn't put it like that; it's... complicated." Jaune turned back to face him.
Jaune: "What is all of this!? Ruby's being hunted, Akito's the son of Ozpin, the schools are being attacked, all for what? What is the point of all of this? Will you just tell us what's going on!?"
Dante: "Just sit back down, kid. You ain't gonna get anywhere by yelling your damn head off at us. Tell him, Qrow." he said, with him slightly deadpanning as he took out one of his revolvers, 'Ebony' before shining its surface. Jaune just continued to glare at him before sitting back down, crossing his arms. Qrow was about to drink from his flask again, but decided against it, closing the cap and resting it next to him on the log.
Qrow: "Not many people are super religious these days... This world's been around for a long time, long enough that people have created dozens of gods. But if you believe Ozpin, two of them are actually real. They were brothers. The older sibling, the 'God of Light', found joy in creating forces of life. Meanwhile, the younger brother, The 'God of Darkness', spent his time creating forces of Destruction. As you can imagine, they both had pretty different ideas about how things should go. The older one would spend his days creating water, plants, wildlife. And at night, his brother would wake to see all the things the elder had made and become disgusted. To counteract his brother's creations, the God of Darkness brought drought, fire, famine, all he could do to rid Remnant of Life. But life always returned. So one night, the younger brother went and made something. Something that shared his innate desire to destroy anything and everything."
Setsuna: "The creatures of Grimm..."
Dante: "Bingo, wolf pup."
Qrow: "The older brother had finally had enough. Knowing that their feud couldn't last like this forever, he proposed that they make one final creation. Together. Something that they could both be proud of. Their masterpiece. The younger brother agreed. This last great creation would be given the power to both 'Create' and 'Destroy'. It would be given the gift of 'Knowledge', so that it could learn about itself and the world around it. And most importantly, it would be given the power to 'Choose', to have free will to take everything it had learned and decide which path to follow: The Path of Light or The Path of Darkness. And that is how Humanity came to be."
Ren: "But... what does that have to do with us?" This time, Dante took over as he put away his Ebony.
Dante: "Well, that's the kicker. You see, the four gifts to mankind: 'Knowledge', 'Creation', 'Destruction' and 'Choice' aren't just metaphorical. Each of them exist in a physical form, left behind by the gods before they abandon Remnant and each of them is extraordinarily powerful. If someone were to collect all four, they'd be able to change the world. That's exactly what the enemy wants. The Huntsman Academies were created to train generations of Humanity's protectors, but they also serve another purpose; guarding the 'Relics'."
Qrow: "When Ozpin's predecessor founded the schools, he built them around the Relics to act as a fortress. Not only would they be easier to defend, but they would constantly be surrounded by trained warriors. The hope was that hiding the Relics would keep mankind from using them against itself. And of course, keeping them out of her reach. So yeah, there's that."
Ruby: "Her. You mean Salem?"
Qrow: "That's right. Not much is known about her and quite frankly, that's not what matters. What matters right now is that she wants the Relics."
Dante: "And if she gets them, then we can all kiss our asses and this world goodbye."
>Chapter 38: A Much Needed Talk<
Jaune: "Alright. So, let's say we believe all of this. There really is this crazy evil being behind these attacks, not just some thugs trying to become powerful. Why doesn't the world know? Why isn't Atlas going after them, or Mistral?"
Nora: "And why aren't we in more of a hurry to get to Haven? Shouldn't we be getting them a message? What if they're next?"
Qrow: "The headmaster over there saw what happened to Beacon. He's not dumb. He'll be on his guard. Besides, it takes time to mobilize forces like that. Do you really think they planned out that attack on Beacon overnight?" Dante then looked towards Jaune.
Dante: "And to answer your question, it's the same reason we keep quiet about the Maidens. If the whole world knew about the Relics, about Salem, there would be chaos. There'd be another Great War on our hands, and this time, you'd have to fight. And I doubt you'd want to fight in a massive global war like that." Jaune just looked away from him.
Qrow: "Look, we had the same questions too, but ol' Ozpin would always put his foot down; 'We can't cause a panic'. Heh, I can't tell you how many times I've heard that. Salem's smart. She works from the shadows, using others to get what she wants, so that when the time comes to place the blame, we can only point at each other." He said before taking a swig from his flask.
Dante: "She's trying to divide us โ humanity, and so far she's done a pretty damn good job."
Setsuna: "So what should we do now?" The two men exchanged glances before both collectively laughing lightly.
Qrow: "We're not really sure." He answered, causing them to recoil in surprise.
Dante: "Look, with the way things are now, with the world in such a fractured state, we're on an uphill battle. But for now, all we can do is trust Ozpin. He's put a lot of trust in the other Headmasters since the schools are an important part of stopping Salem. James went on high alert and Atlas' on lock down after the last attack, and Vacuo is... well, Vacuo. I mean, imagine trying to hire thieves and scoundrels to fight against other thieves and scoundrels. Practically an impossible task."
Qrow: "Take that, add in the fact that Cinder and her crew claim to be from Haven, and I think it's likely the next target. So, we're on our way to the headmaster."
Dante: "Haven't heard from the cowardly lion in a while, even before the attack. But, let's just hope luck's on our side and he has the answers we're looking for." Qrow then stood up, with him putting away his flask before he began to hold onto his bandaged wound.
Qrow: "Alright, I think it's time you kids got some sleep."
Ruby: "Uncle Qrow?"
Qrow: "Yeah?" She stood up before turning to look at him.
Ruby: "This is a lot to take in, and it all sounds crazy but... I'm willing to do whatever I can to help because I trust you and since Mr. Dante's taken care of Setsuna and Akito in the past, I want to trust him too. But why couldn't you trust me? Why couldn't you just travel with us, instead of this secrecy, and... andโ"
Dante: "Deep breaths kid." He placed a hand on the argent-eyed girl's shoulder. "Ease off your uncle for a bit. It's a complicated and long story."
Nora: "Seriously? Now you're tired of telling us stories?" Qrow stood in silence before glancing at the campfire, his expression and tone taking a more somber tone.
Qrow: "Did you know crows were a sign of Bad luck...?" He crouched down and poked the fire with a stick. "Old superstition, but it's how I got my name... See, some people can absorb electricity, boost their physical strength, and some people can burst into rose petals... and some people are just born unlucky. My Semblance isn't like most. It's not exactly something I do. It's always there, whether I like it or not. I bring Misfortune..." He chuckled out of pity for himself. "I guess you could call me a Bad Luck Charm. Comes in real handy when I'm fighting an enemy, but it makes it a little hard on friends... and family." He looked specifically at Ruby when saying that. But then Jaune decided to pipe up.
Jaune: "Well, you are just a real bundle of help, aren't you?" While Nora, Ruby and Setsuna all glared at him disapprovingly, Dante leaned off of the rock and stared directly at him.
Dante: "Listen kid, you have every right to be pissed that all of this was kept from you. But don't you start taking it out on others, especially the ones that saved your ass from death." he then took one step towards the Arc. "The last thing we need is your uncontrolled emotions attracting Grimm here when one of us is injured and everyone else, tired. Take the night to think everything over." He said, more like demanded, his tone firm, without his normal snarky and sarcastic tone, showing that he was serious. Jaune remained silent, biting his tongue before he grumbled and looked off. The man then turned around and began to walk into the forest, to take in some non-smoke-filled air.
Qrow: "Don't mind him. He's just tired." he said, turning around as he began to walk away.
Ren: "Where are you going?"
Qrow: "Taking a walk."
Ruby: "There's nothing else you want to tell us?" He paused, glancing up to his left as a familiar red-eyed Raven was perched on a branch, seemingly watching him.
Qrow: "Not tonight." With that final statement, he continued on his way, leaving the 5 teenagers to themselves. Just as he was leaving however, a piece of firewood suddenly fell out of the fireplace, basically demonstrating to everyone his Semblance of Misfortune.
A few minutes went by and Setsuna had managed to split away from the group to take a stroll through the forest herself. She remained silent, still trying to process all the information she was given. It was all hard to believe, but she knew that Dante wouldn't joke around about something as heavy as this. But in all honesty, all of this just made her more worried. Akito was probably going through so much now and herself... Well, she wasn't much help during the fight against Tyrian. If their enemies are all that powerful, if not more, then at her current level, she stood no chance. But maybe if she had her claws, then maybe she'd stand just a bit better? She just ended up sighing.
Dante: "It's not every day to see you all down in the dumps like this." The Arctic Wolf yelped lightly before looking to her right, seeing Dante leaning against a tree. "What's wrong, can't sleep?"
Setsuna: "... Kinda hard to sleep after everything..." She rubbed her arm and glanced away. He sighed.
Dante: "I hear ya. What a shit show we got ourselves into."
A small silence fell upon the two as they both looked up into the night sky. Setsuna had many different thoughts going through her mind, before she remembered her fight against Tyrian and how badly she was outclassed. It was then she made up her mind and clenched her fists. She's been by Akito's side for as long as she could remember, always fighting side by side with him. But now, they were completely separated from each other and she couldn't rely on him anymore. She needed to become more independent here and now, if she ever hoped to survive this war long term.
Setsuna: "Papa..."
Dante: "What's up?" He raised an eyebrow before Setsuna gripped onto one of her Arondight blades and unsheathed it.
Setsuna: "Please... Can you train Setsuna?" The white-haired man was a bit surprised by this. "After losing my claws... after separating from Akito, I... realized that Setsuna's become too dependent on them to survive. And now, Setsuna's in a situation unfamiliar to her." She then looked up at him, with a more determined expression. "So please, train Setsuna so she can become stronger! I don't want to hold back Ruby and the others anymore. Please, papa!"
Dante fell silent, staring at the female he could strongly call his daughter, before chuckling and smirking. Leaning off the tree, he began to walk towards her.
Dante: "You've got guts, wolf pup. I'll give you that. Alright then, I don't see why not. I'll take you under my wing while we're on this trip." The Arctic Wolf Faunus' eyes sparkled in excitement and happiness, her tail wagging back and forth happily.
Setsuna: "Thank you! So, what's first?"
Dante: "What's first, you say? Well..." he stopped directly in front of her. "How about we work on that loose-ass grip of yours?"
Setsuna: "Huh?"
Before she could even react, Dante knocked Setsuna's sword out of her hand, with a single, carefree flick of his wrist. She stared in complete shock before looking back at the man, who smirked.
Dante: "Rule #1. Always have a tight grip on your weapon to avoid something like that happening so easily."
Menagerie...
Akito found himself walking through the Belladonna household, his mind just solely focused on the other day, where they ran into Fennec and Corsac. The way they worded things just didn't feel right to him at all, as if they were trying to downplay the casualties of the Fall of Beacon. And then he remembered how he blew up in front of them, and in front of the others.
Akito: "What do I do...? Everything's just so... fucked up..." He mumbled to himself before stopping on a balcony and looking up at the shattered moon. A few quick flashes appeared in his mind, mostly of all the people he's lost in his life, starting with his father, Ozpin, then his best friend, Pyrrha Nikos and finally, ending on them... Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. Normally, he'd be able to hear faint heart beats in his head, their little banter, Autumn's boasting, Spring's innocent comments and what not. But now... there was nothing. Just silence. "I wish I could still hear you four... Maybe then, I'd know what to do with myself... But now... I don't even know anymore..."
He looked down slowly, a flame burning in his palm before he clenched his fist, extinguishing it as he closed his eye shut. However, he was soon brought out of his state of mourning by the sliding door behind him suddenly opening as an angry Blake dragged Sun out by the collar. Akito turned to look at them confused and was about to ask about what was happening, only to be taken aback as Blake suddenly slapped Sun.
Blake: "No concept of privacy," She slapped him again."no respect for personal space!"
Sun: "I'm sorry, okay! Ow! I'm sorry!" He yelled, rubbing his cheek in pain.
Blake: "Ugh!" She turned her back angrily to him.
Akito: "Uh..." he deadpanned.
Sun: "Look, I promise it was important! I needed to find you to talk to you! And since Akito's already out here, it's even better!"
Blake: "What, Sun?" She turned around to look at him now. "What could be so important!?"
Sun: "I was talking to your mom and she said something weird about the White Fang!" This caused Akito to raise an eyebrow, but before he could respond, Blake immediately interjected.
Blake: "I'm stopping you right there."
Sun: "Butโ"
Blake: "I told you, I'm not here to fight the White Fang, I'm not here to fight anyone. I'm here to rest, to figure things out, and to see my family." Akito fell silent and stared at her for a moment, the word 'Family' being enough to make him look the other way, which she noticed.
Sun: "Your mom said White Fang members don't wear masks in Menagerie. But I saw one at the market yesterday! I even have a picture!" he said, taking his scroll out.
Blake: "Sun!"
Sun: "Look, I'm trying to help!" He tried to say but the Feline Faunus took his scroll and tossed it towards the trees.
Blake: "I don't WANT your help!" The two glared daggers at each other before...
Akito: "ENOUGH!" The two looked at him as he glared at the two, his single eye bursting with that same magic Flame. "I came out here not to be stressed out by you two yelling your fucking asses off!"
Blake: "You have a room you know." She said with a sarcastic tone, crossing her arms as the Wolf Faunus just glared at her.
Akito: "You're one to talk. Take this shitty ass attitude of yours inside and far away from me."
Blake: "You're calling my attitude bad!?" She questioned, stepping forwards and essentially getting in his face as she glared daggers into his eye, almost appalled, especially how Akito's attitude's been since they were on the boat.
Akito: "I am! What the fuck are you going to do about it, pussy cat? Fight me!? Like you tried to do back in Beacon before the Ball!?"
Now they were glaring daggers at each other, with Sun slightly taking a step back. Yes he was frustrated with Blake's attitude during his time here, but seeing her and Akito go at it like this made him feel nervous, especially since how fractured their relationship had been since the Fall of Beacon.
Sun: "H-Hey, maybe we shouldโ"
However, before he could finish his sentence, there was a small but noticeable gasp, catching the three Faunus' attention, Blake and Akito's ears perking up. They all slowly looked into the treeline, narrowing their eyes as their innate night vision allowed them to see what looked like a dark figure camouflaging in the darkness. The only standout part about them was the White Fang mask they had on. Instantly, Akito equipped Alpha in Rifle and aimed before firing off shots towards the eavesdropper, causing them to gasp slightly before leaping out of the tree, the moonlight finally revealing their figure to them as they hopped away, avoiding every shot from Akito.
Akito: "Tch... Exia!" The Damaged Gundam appeared on his body before he flew off after the figure, with Blake grinding her teeth together.
Sun: "A freaking ninja!?"
Blake: "A Spy!
Sun: "But why wouldโ" She wouldn't give him the chance to finish his question, as she'd hop after them. "Hey, wait!" From the commotion, Kali rushed towards Sun, with a confused yet startled expression on her face.
Kali: "What's happened?"
Sun: "The White Fang is evil, I totally called it, and I'm bringing your daughter and her boyfriend back!" He exclaimed before leaping after the two, leaving a stunned Kali.
The Spy continued to hop from tree to tree, avoiding any beams Akito fired at them. The Armored Faunus flew rapidly towards them, bobbing and weaving between the trees while keeping his sights on them, which allowed him to clearly see that the spy was indeed female.
Blake was hopping from tree to tree as well, with Sun closely behind her. The Monkey Faunus attempted to ambush her by jumping on her, but the spy quickly avoided by hopping to another tree, while Akito flew past him and Blake hopped by.
Sun: "Hey, wait up!"
Blake: "Don't let her out of your sight!"
Akito (Exia): "What do you think I've been doing woman!?" he exclaimed before noticing the female attempting to jump to another tree.
However, just at that moment, Akito accelerated to her at max speed, catching her off guard in midair and tackling her onto a nearby rooftop. With a grunt, the two rolled across it before both getting up, facing each other. The female's pitch black skin suddenly changed color, turning a brown color, revealing her to be a Chameleon Faunus. Akito kept his Alpha in sword mode pointed at her, while she pointed a weapon that looked like a straightened whip at him.
(A/N: "... Dat Cake tho...")
Akito (Exia): "Time to talk! What's with the eavesdropping?"
Spy: "...You seriously think you can beat me with one arm and one eye?"
Akito (Exia): "Pfft. Oh please. I'm more than confident. Besides..." Just on cue, Blake landed on the female's left while Sun landed behind her. "Who said I was alone?"
Spy: "Tch..."
Sun: "Give it up! I'm not above hitting a girl, you knโWoah!" He was cut off by the female lashing out her weapon, which extended with Lightning Dust charging at him, forcing the Monkey Faunus to bend backwards and dodge.
Akito (Exia): "Get that damn scroll out of her hands!" He exclaimed, before charging forwards, slashing downwards twice, forcing the girl to block both attacks and take a step back, however, Blake was right on her, jumping over the girl before kicking the scroll out of her hand. The Feiline attempted to knee her, but the spy pushed her back before making a run towards the Scroll. However, Akito shoulder checked her from behind, sending the two crashing down. The girl struggled underneath him as he pinned her down, using his only hand to keep both of her hands above her head by the wrists. "Get the scroll, Blake! I could use your help Sun!"
Spy: "Get OFF!" She head butted him, sending him crashing back and cracking her mask. She began to make a b-line after Blake, who was running towards the scroll before suddenly, multiple of Sun's clones jumped on top of her holding her down. Blake paused briefly and looked back at her.
Sun: "Quit staring and grab it!" Blake did as she was told without protest, rushing over and picking up the scroll while Sun did his best to keep his Semblance active, but couldn't as his Aura broke quickly, making all of his clones disappear. The girl got back up, and pointed her weapon towards Blake. "Blake, watch out!"
Quickly, the Feline Faunus turned to look at her attacker, with Akito standing behind the Chameleon Faunus, with Alpha in rifle mode, trained on her, causing her to grit her teeth in annoyance. Then, her mask began to crumble before falling off her face, revealing her identity to them.
Blake: "Ilia."
(Ilia Amitola)
Akito narrowed his eyes at her, with him clenching his fist tightly on Alpha's handle.
Akito (Exia): "Tch... of course..."
Sun: "Wait, you two know her!?" He exclaimed while standing up. "But she doesn't even look like a fโ"
Akito (Exia): "SUN MOVE!"
He yelled as Ilia's skin suddenly turned bright red, with all the spots on her skin and her hair turning yellow as she activated her weapon, Lightning Lash and launched it towards the defenseless Sun. Before it could strike him however, Akito pushed him out of the way, but in result, ended up taking the hit. The weapon's sharp edge pierced the damaged Exia in the right shoulder, causing him to yell out in pain as the lightning dust surged through him, causing Exia to shut off and deactivate, the Gundam disappearing as Akito fell to the ground unconscious, with blood oozing out of the wound on his shoulder.
Blake: "AKITO!" Ilia then turned to her, pointing her Lightning Lash at her again while glaring daggers at her.
Ilia: "Give it to me." Blake gritted her teeth together, the anger in her boiling up as she watched her boyfriend be struck down. She glared angrily at the Chameleon Faunus.
Blake: "No." Ilia's expression then changed to a somber one, her skin turning green and the spots and her hair turning blue.
Ilia: "You and Akito shouldn't have come back." She said, lowering her weapon before she swiped the rooftop with it, creating a smoke screen, forcing Blake to cover her eyes. When she looked again, Ilia was already gone, but she didn't care at the moment. She instantly turned to her injured boyfriend, rushing to his side and sliding onto her knees as she applied pressure to the wound, to try and stop the bleeding.
Blake: "Akito, Akito! No, no, no, no, not again, please!" She begged, gritting her teeth together before she looked at Sun, who stood there in complete and utter surprise. "Go! Get a doctor! HURRY!"
Choosing not to argue, Sun immediately jumped away to go find help while Blake stayed with Akito, her amber eyes burning as tears began to fall down her cheeks, a few sniffles coming from her. Even despite their recent argument, she still couldn't help but care for him dearly. She loved him after all.
Blake: "Akito... Wolfie... I'm so sorry..."
Anima...
The next morning, Team RNJR was starting to stir awake, with Ren sitting up, followed by Jaune.
Ren: "We should probably get moving."
Jaune: "Yeah, yeah."
Ruby also began to sit up, before she noticed that Setsuna was no where. She looked over to the rock, before sighing in relief as she found the Arctic Wolf Faunus, however, she was asleep, curled up in Dante's lap like a puppy, her expression seeming to be more peaceful than usual. It made Ruby smile, but the sound of violent coughing caught her and the other's attention, including Setsuna and Dante. Everyone instantly looked towards Qrow, who was slumped against a tree Ruby and Setsuna both got up and rushed over to him as Dante began to make his way over. The drunkard slowly looked at his hand which was covering his mouth up to now, only to see it covered in a purple color, which also stained his bandages. Both girls gasped in horror while Dante slightly scoffed in annoyance.
Dante: "So the bastard was poisonous then..." He then looked to the other kids. "Let's build him a stretcher, now!" As the others began to carry out the order, Ruby's worried eyes remained trained on her uncle, with Setsuna patting her shoulder in comfort. The man slowly looked up at the two, with a weak laugh.
Qrow: "Well... That's unfortunate."
