[20]
He arrived ten minutes earlier than the planned time. Picking a seat more secluded than the rest, having a clear view of what's happening outside the cafe.
He reluctantly stretch his back to meet the back of the chair he currently was sitting on, raising his cup to slurp the cold coffee beverage in hopes to reduce even a little bit of his nervousness.
Finding nothing else to do than to drink his coffee, he watches the scene unfolding outside the clear window right beside his table. A crowd of people just doing they activities, continuing their lives like every other day. Nothing special, but for him, it's enough to entertain and perhaps lift his thoughts from drowning in anxiety.
Chewing his black coffee straw lazily, time must've sped up quite fast while observing the busy outside world. Because now, his every random thoughts about what those stranger out there might be thinking vanished into the thin air as the bells of the cafe door he's in dinged softly.
There she was, in all of her glory. Walking towards him with so much confidence and what he could only describes as overflowing dignity. Her simple dress that hugged her figure loosely swayed ever so slightly along with her movement.
She smiled fondly at the sight of him, unchanging from his old school days. And he sits there wondering if she is really the person that he's supposed to meet today.
She has changed greatly since the first time they met. She's no longer the shy and bullied girl who protect herself by lying impulsively. No longer confused of who she is and what she loved.
But she is still the same girl he had admired and attracted to since his school days. A girl that now loved herself better than anyone, and know herself better than anyone else.
"You haven't changed at all"
She seated herself in the seat in front of him, taking his look for a long time. It's as if time stopped only for him, but she knew better than to assume his insides remained the same too. He was doing the exact same, but quickly regain his composure and smiled back at her.
"And you've changed a lot"
He said, while calling the waiter so that she could order some drinks. After ordering the same drink he is drinking, her eyes wander to the busy world outside the glass. The once blue sky is now merging with the dark and light orange, with the decorative cotton candy lying around them.
"Meeting face to face like this is the first time for us, isn't it?"
Her eyes still caught on the little street and the highschool kids that passed by it. He tried to remember their every encounter, and realizes that her words are the truth. They rarely even meet each other, but they never forget to replied each other chat messages.
"Yes."
His eyes follow hers, also caught on it while the silence wraps around them comfortably. It was too comfortable, that he felt suffocated at how the silence continue.
His back no longer resting on the padded seat back, and he noticed his coffee were watery from the melting ice cubes. Never had he been this nervous before in the past year.
"So, how is life treating you?"
Her fixed gaze runs to his figure. She recognized his uncomfortable expression immediately and tried to reassure him with her gaze. She shook her head quietly to his surprise.
"It's okay, you can cut the chase. What are you going to say to me today?"
He bites back the nervous gasp in his throat. He isn't ready to tell her just yet, but at the same time he's dying to just tell her already the moment she step her feet into this place.
He shut his eyes for a while, and take a deep breath to calm himself down. His heart is beating erratically in his chest due to nervousness and one other thing he is perfectly aware of.
Exhaling the stuffed air in his lungs, he finally gathered the courage and said it to her face.
"I love you too. From the very first time I landed my eyes on you"
He finally said it. Finally, after all of those years burying his feelings just because he felt like if he said it, she wouldn't be as happy as she is now. Stacking his feelings just for her happiness and now here he is, confessing the truth.
She laughed at the look on his face. His scrunched up face is adorable. As if waiting to be rejected.
"I know"
Her laugher is much more louder now, and she covers her mouth to keep it down in this lonely cafe. He looks really surprised, and that amuses her greatly.
"Why are you so shocked? Are you expecting to get rejected or something? Would you like me to remind you that I've been confessing to you since years ago? Heck, I even confessed to you yesterday!"
He just stared at her laughing face. She was really beautiful now. More than when he laid her eyes on her. Now, she really seemed too good for him.
"I don't know. Maybe you still liked your ex. Maybe you think I'm annoying. Anything could happen in a year time, you know"
He pouted, running away from her smoky eyes. She stood from her seat and reaches for his cheek, cupping his plump cheeks into her grasp.
She gave him a lovely peck on the lips, quick enough to be appropriate in public setting, but also long enough to satisfy the both of them.
"I love you, idiot. I love you, Park Jimin" she whispered under her breath, but not to worry since there are no one other than the waiters that were enjoying the sight to a front row of a romantic movie.
And at that moment, he felt as if they're on another planet entirely. Another universe, another life, another reality.
Everything stops for them, and they just stare at each other, until everything starts moving again.
His watery coffee is wetting the table, the crowd outside is walking again, the vehicles stopped, and the cloud is twirling in the now orange sky.
"I love you too"
