Chapter 20

It had to have been a few days by now, or maybe the dizzying darkness the doctor brought affected how you felt time pass.

When it wasn't her, it was her energetic other half, each taking rotations sitting before you with different tasks assigned to each. Your head spun constantly, as though you were stuck in a state similar to the edge of sleep. Not quite dead to the world, but too scattered to speak with in a decent conversation.

"Why..." you croaked, as you had many a time before. Yet still no response.

"You always ask me the same questions you silly girl! Why not give up? Or at the very least think of some other questions to distract me with." Nezumi, the rat queen, pouted. "I've grown so bored."

"Why..." you muttered again. You stomach growled loudly, and you wanted to fall asleep, but it seemed each time you drifted away you were shaken back to reality with the sharp bite of electricity.

"Oh! You're hungry aren't you? Finally a task! Sit still little one, I'll fetch you something to hold you over." Nezumi seemed excited to play house, but you didn't respond. You didn't want to eat. You wanted to go home.

Beneath your worry, you wondered if anyone had questioned your disappearance. Had it been long enough to do so reasonably? A tear found its way downward, clinging to the contours of your face. No one had found you yet. At best it hadn't been long, but in the back of your mind you felt that wasn't true. You knew it'd been plenty long for them to note your lack or presence. What did it mean that they hadn't arrived yet?

"Don't frown dear, you'll get wrinkles." Nezumi nagged off-handedly, reappearing with a wooden tray cradling a bowl of vegetables topped with sliced beef, all resting over a bed of rice. Your mouth watered, but you kept your mouth stubbornly clenched.

Nezumi twisted the contents on to a fork and lifted it to you, as a mother would their infant. "Open wide! Yummy yummy food made by yours truly!"

You turned you head, disinterested eyes fixating on a machine perched far from her figure. She huffed, brow furrowing as she glanced among the wires and needles that sat attached to you. "You must be too distracted to eat. Beloved must be using too much if her sedatives again. She's so silly sometimes!"

Your ear twitched to the groan of a metal sprocket, then quiet, then clarity. It was almost as though fog was blown from your mind, leaving you aware and able to think much better a degree. You blinked rapidly, shaking your head and looking up at your companion, still quiet.

"Ryoko would be furious if she found I'd lowered her oh so carefully calculated sedatives, but you won't tell her will you? You can't escape anyhow. Now open that cute little mouth won't you? We can't finish our experiments if you waste away first."

You grit your teeth, pinching your lips together stubbornly. It comes to a point where you'd rather waste away than let them continue. The fork bumped roughly against your mouth, small grains of rice and such jumped down your front and staining the gym clothes that now stunk of hours, maybe days, of wear.

Nezumi huffed, face reddening as she held the fork in her hand. "Oh I see! You think that because my quirk has to do with rats means that I can't cook anything without getting it dirty and gross! How rude! I-I do you a favor and let you think clearly for a little and you do this to repay me?? W-well I-I...." tears seemed summoned to her eyes, throwing you into confusion.

Why was she crying?? You were the captive here! You watched in terror as she moved her hand back to the dial. Preparing to turn it once more. "Wait!" You blurted, surprising both you and her. "I-I mean, please wait. I just want to talk, ya know? I really miss my friends... and I'm scared and I'm just a kid you know! I'm not scared of your cooking..."

You didn't know what you were saying, words spilling over your lips like a waterfall. Nezumi lowered her hand, wiping her eyes and smiling. "Oh yes, I suppose that does seem right." She said quietly. "After all it has been a few days. And you've only see the collection of me, my beloved and my little pets."

"Y-yeah..." you muttered.

There was quiet, a knot of nerves tightening in your stomach as you waited for her to move your dial once more. You closed your eyes, thinking in the little time you had, concentration only broken to the sharp scrape of a fork against the bowl. You looked at Nezumi, once more offering the fork to you. "Third times the charm!" She chanted softly.

You didn't open your mouth, and she frowned. Sighing she looked to and fro before returning her gaze to you. "Let's make a deal then. I really couldn't bear to see you starve. So if you eat like the good little daughter you are, I'll answer a few of those questioning you keep asking me?"

You lifted your head more, making her smiling. You opened your mouth to speak, finding it instantly stuffed with the slightly cold food. You chewed slowly, the food not as disgusting as you'd expected but not the best either. "Now you get one question per bite!" Nezumi chanted, smiling sweetly.

You swallowed and nodded, looking at her cautiously. "Any question?" You asked. Another forkful shoved in your mouth, one you almost choked on.

"That counts! But yes, within reason. Obviously I won't tell you where we are or how to undo your binds or that such, but otherwise you may go wild! Ask me anything."

Her eyes glimmered with excitement, already filling the fork again as she awaited your first query. You swallowed the food on your tongue and nodded, pondering on what questions weighed most on your mind.

"I can't ask you where I am... may I know why I'm here?" You started, eyes darting about the many walls of machines that lined your entrapment. "I mean more than the experiments."

Nezumi filled your mouth again, this time more gently with your consent, and spoke while your chewed. "Oh the experiments aren't the sole purpose of your capture. Ryoko darling just wants to collect information on you before turning you in for approval of her big plan. The boss man would be rather upset if he found you out to be too weak after all the planning we've put into you."

"The boss man?" You mumbled, trying not to spit through the food in your cheeks.

"Yes, Tomura Shigaraki. Actually... I believe you know him, don't you? Oh that's why he found you interesting! I love it when things come together!" Nezumi smiled brightly, her eyes sliding towards your cheek and tracing the outline of his permanent signature on your flesh.

You could feel yourself grow more pale, almost too sickened to swallow again. You choked it down, more questions pouring into your head. "What does he plan to do with me?" You stammered, almost reflexively.

You blinked, and on the back of your eyelids you still saw him, his body covered and hands and eyes twinkling with sick enthusiasm, dry hands clasping your face and dragging you from safety into incomparable pain. You body shook with a deep shudder.

Nezumi didn't say a word, instead holding the fork and waiting for you to take in another forkful. Once your lips closed on the utensil, she plucked it away and sprang into an answer.

"Well we all know his ultimate goal of course! He, and the rest of us for that matter, want to see All Might fall. Dead! Kaput! But with our last attempt we weren't able to, seeing as your kids helped him avoid his well deserved demise; but it did get us thinking, about the way he defended you lot. If we are able to domesticate one of you, maybe we could use you to get him into a trap or something? Better yet, get you to kill him! You just happened to fall into our lap!"

Nezumi smiled, booping your nose with the fork as though this were all a joke to her. "Tomura liked your show at the USJ, and decided that you'd make plenty good bait. Not only are you a student under his class, but you seem to be close with numerous of the highest rankers in your class too! #2's son, your brother (if you can call him that) Izuku, and that hot tempered blonde you seem to like."

"Hey! They have nothing to do with this! Leave them out of whatever you're planning!" You snapped, pulling the restraints taut as you barked towards her.

"Yes dear, because barking at the villain always works in the movie." Nezumi said bluntly. For a moment, her cute facade faded, and a cold glare seemed to mask her expression. "If Tomura wants to bait your friends, he will. You get no say in the matter."

She glanced at the bowl, still far from empty, and shrugged. "I'm bored now! At least you've eaten some. I'm going to go back to my babies for now!" Her tone returned, but in her eyes you saw the true shades of her sinister soul. You watched, as though in slow motion, as her hand crept towards the dial that kept you sedated.

"Wait, please!" You pled, quickly crumbling into a fearful child. "Don't put me back under yet! I still want to talk! I'll eat as much as you want me to!"

Nezumi grinned, shaking her head. "Oh what a good girl you become when you're afraid. I'm sorry my dear, but I've grown bored. Don't worry though! It won't be long before Tomura puts you in place."

"No..." you whispered. Tears filled your eyes without your knowledge. Her fingers clasped the dial, your mind becoming distant again. Tomura's ricocheted in your head, roaring over any thought you tried to construct.

'Tomura...'

'TOMURA'

TOMURA

Your body became limp again. But within your mind, you screamed. The image of him, looming over you. The image of your friend's bodies, what was a nightmare a few days ago, seeming more like a premonition.

"It can't be this easy." Izuku pondered, flipping through his notes and comparing them side by side to the table where a large map bearing multicolored pins marked any important landmark or building. "It can't possibly be this easy!"

"Could you stop being so crypt and tell us what these dumb pins mean already!" Bakugou snarled. His body was rigid, muscles pulling the fitted fabric of his suit tight. His jaw seemed cemented into a tight grimace as his crimson eyes burnt holes through Izuku.

"These dumb pins could be the key to finding (Y/N)." Todoroki said calmly. He stood close to Izuku, scanning over the notes with an almost identical, quizzical alarm.

"According to what we know, and what we glimpsed from following as much as we could, they're probably keeping her nearby. They can't go too far if they need her for some plan. But they also had the tech to sedate her and her powers, so they had to have access to some sort of highly, funded lab. That leaves the school and these two labs, each within the range." Izuku plucked a blue pen from the table and circled two sites on the map. "But these are both public... so where would she be hiding (Y/N)?"

Todoroki looked between the two and thumbed at one, the smaller of the two, tucked closest to the middle of the city. "I've been to both, but this one rents out private labs for a high fee. She could be in on of those."

"But it's so close to the heart of town! If this is really all Tomura's goons, they probably went for distance." Uraraka chimed. "If they keep her off site or rent equipment then it would make sense still. And it's less of a risk of being caught."

Bakugou slammed a hand down on the table, flames singeing the map just slightly. "Then we'll check both!" He snarled. "We just need to hurry!"

"Kacchan if we go to the wrong place and they find out they could escape before we find them. We need more information so they don't escape with (Y/N)."

"But the longer they have her the longer they have to do who knows what! They could be torturing her!" Bakugou's blood boiled, his face creeping his red rage.

"Bakugou has a point. We need to be quick. The heroes said to leave it to them, but I can't stand by uselessly." Todoroki shared a look with Bakugou, as though consenting for once only a truce for the sake of saving (Y/N). "We can split up." He continued. "Uraraka and I will take the lab close the the heart of the city. I know it better so it will be easier to investigate. You and Bakugou look into the other one. If you get into a battle, damage will be more minimal."

Uraraka nodded, looking in turn at Bakugou and Izuku. Izuku, without another thought nodded, turning his gaze on Bakugou. Each pair of eyes peered at him, knowing his objection was the only things obstructing their plan. He swallowed hard, hating to submit to Todoroki's lead. "Yeah. The sooner we find her, the better."
