Chapter 7: Conversation

Katooni POV:

Was Chancellor Amidala a Jedi?! How could she know exactly how I was feeling? Did she know that by personal experience? No, that's preposterous.

Petro's room was right beside mine, on the fourth floor. When I arrived in front of his door, I took a deep breath before deciding to knock when he opened the door.

"Come in, Kat." I entered. He closed the door but kept a safe distance between us.

"Kat, he started, I am so sorry for what happened back in the Jedi temple. I don't know what came over me-"

"I do."

"What?"

I knew that for him to talk, I would have to take him by surprise. It is the only way we are going to solve this.

"You like me."

"I... Kat, even... if I did, our love would be impossible because of the Code-"

"The Code?" I repeated, surprised he, of all people, would lecture on following rules.

"Well, of course! Those feelings will lead us to attachment and that is forbidden because it leads to the dark side of the Force!"

"You don't know that for sure. I don't think any Jedi do."

"Well there is a reason it's forbidden, isn't there?"

I was about to protest when our comlinks rang; it was the Captain: he was telling us that nothing was wrong but we will jump out of hyperspace in less than fifteen minutes. That meant we had to get the Chancellor ready.

Both of us walked in silence to the elevator. The tension was even thicker than before, but now we were very clear on it. I guess the Chancellor's advice made the situation worse. I could not believe that he, of all people, was making excuses.

When we entered the elevator, I turned my head furthest from him as much as possible, staring at the wall and forcing myself to find its line fascinating. When I suddenly felt his hand on my shoulder, I looked at him surprised, but before I could react, he pressed his lips against mine. To say I was shocked was an understatement. I roll my eyes, annoyed, but then melt against his lips. That is what we should have been doing in his room! MEN!

I grabbed one of his shoulders to pull myself forward while I ran my fingers through his raven hair. Human hair is spikier than I imagined it. Everything went so fast. Petro pushed me against the wall, using his hand to absorb the shock as he permitted his tongue to slip inside my mouth, earning him a moan of pleasure. Was this his first kiss? Because he was surprisingly good at this.

Before the doors opened, we quickly parted ways and acted like nothing had happened. We gave each other awkward glances as we restrained our breaths. Leaving no clues of what just happened. It was the Chancellor in front of us, I mean Padmidala, I mean Padme! I cannot think straight!

"Petro, Katooni! Perfect! Now that you are both here we can head for the bridge."

We followed Padme out of the elevator and towards the bridge. When I looked at Petro, this jerk had a satisfied, annoying smirk printed on his face. I roll my eyes, shaking my head, though I could not help my smile.

"I am happy to see the conversation between you went well, Padawans." Said the Chancellor, out of the blue.

Petro, unaware of our previous conversation, seemed confused as he asked.

"Everything went fine, your Grace."

"I am sure. This red on your lips gave it away."

We both stopped in our tracks as I covered my laughter with my hand. I looked at Petro, who seemed horrified as he touched the lipstick I left on his lips.
