The Missing Link: Mirio × Soul Mate Male reader (A03 request #5) part 3
You sighed weakly, doing math problems and looking at the stars; even though you were hurting, you needed to know exactly where you were. It seemed you did make it, but at what cost? You were using star charts and trying to use the math you used to get things right. Mirio was offering moral support and encouragement but also snacks.
You had to take a break due to working two days trying to get stuff done.
"I need sleep. I can't read anything anymore," you said weakly as you lay in the grass.
"You have been working hard, so how do you like it here so far?" Miro asked.
"I don't know. I spent a week inside doing work. I heard there was a girl with a quirk that made her invisible. I bought a heat censor so I could see her. Well, the school bought it. I'm going to see if I can make her a suit," you yawned.
"You are giving up on your ship?" He asked.
"I need a break. There are still pieces missing, and I need so much stuff. My ship needs to be straightened out so badly," you said.
"We can go swimming tomorrow! I know a great spot; we can go just because I'm in charge of watching you!" He smiled as you were dead asleep in the grass, snoring.
He got up and smiled as he looked at you.
"You have been working too hard on trying to get home. Let's get you into my bed, and I'll pack a picnic for us tomorrow!" He said as he picked you up like you were a kid and carried you inside.
"Aww, that's so cute!" Nejire said we're talking about sandwiches in your sleep.
"I'm going to take him to bed; his whiteboards are outside still," he said as she smiled.
"Yeah, I'll get them, so you still trying to seduce him?" She asked.
"Nah, it's not fair to him. He is trying to get home, and he is too busy for me," he said as he brought you to his room. He put you in his bed, then covered you with a blanket.
Mirio looked at the mark on his hand and saw your hands were still wrapped with bandages. He was tempted to look underneath your bandages to see if you had a mark, but your hands were still severely bruised. He didn't care anymore if you had a mark anymore. He knew he was being stupid, but seeing your work, he loved it. You were a superhero in your way, trying to get home, so there was no way anyone could come here or vice versa to protect two plants from something you made.
Mirio packed lunch for tomorrow, and he asked Tamaki for some spare swimming trunks for you before heading to bed himself. When his alarm went off, Mirio grabbed some books about space and quirks since you wanted to make a suit for the invisible girl. He even got a book about human biology to see if that would help you.
He put them on his nightstand, dressed, and went to his favorite swimming hole. He would keep it a surprise since he knew you would just want to work on your spaceship. You slept till noon and were halfway off the bed when Mirio decided to wake you up.
You screamed when he yelled good morning and fell off the bed.
"You are so jumpy," Mirio laughed as you sat up and rubbed your eyes.
"What time is it?" You asked as you tried to get to the clock, but you couldn't find it on the nightstand.
"It's noon already; I made you breakfast," he said as you groaned.
"You could have woken me up so much sooner. I have so much stuff to do today," you said, rubbing your face.
"Don't worry about it, and today is your day off. I'm making you rest," he said as you got up and sluggishly walked to the dining hall.
"You don't have to give me special treatment either because I'm not from here, but thank you for breakfast," you said as you were trying not to dress out, but it was tough not to do that when you had two worlds counting on you to go home.
"It's not a problem, and you need to eat. I'm not giving you special treatment, well, not really. You are staying in my room until we find somewhere better for you to stay and somewhere close so I can keep an eye on you. Don't want you getting kidnapped or killed," he laughed.
"Yeah...," you said, trying to push that unsettling thought out of your mind.
"Hey! Alien nerd!" Bakugo yelled, nearly scaring you into dropping your toast.
"Be careful; he scares easily," Mirio said as you sighed.
Being in a new place had you in a high state of anxiety and panic. Not only that but due to the stress of fixing your ship, you weren't precisely sleeping well, making you jumpy.
"This yours?" Bakugo asked as he dropped some of your spaceship next to you.
"Hey, this is part of the back thruster; I thought it got burned up," you said as you picked it up.
"It must have broken off. Decku found it while we were in the woods," he said as you looked at him confused.
"Why were you two in the woods? I thought this was like a collage where you needed written permission to leave," you said.
"It's not you, idiot! Anyway," he said as he pulled out the map of the wooded area.
"So this is where we found that piece, but where you must have come in and where we found that; I think the rest of your thruster is somewhere here," he said as he took some blueberries and made a circle with them.
"Thanks, that helps a lot; we should go get them," you said as Mirio smiled.
"Sure! I'll grab some food for the trip!" He said happily as you continued to eat your food.
"So you really from a different version of earth?" He asked.
"Yeah... hopefully, I'll leave soon. Not that I don't like it here. I mean, this place is better than my world, but I don't want a war to start. If someone on my earth finds a way to make a wormhole hole big enough for jets and stuff, think of the damage they will do here or, worse, a villain from here taking over my planet. Hey, um, do you know anything about the invisible girl that goes to this school? I considered making her a suit so she doesn't have to be naked on missions. I have some idea of what her suit can be made of due to working on a secret government project on my other planet to make people nearly invisible," you said as Bakugo got up close and personal.
"Your job is to leave, not to experiment on your government projects on us!" He growled.
"Look, I just want to help her out. She is walking around naked during the jobs you guys do. You don't find that at all concerning? You can't see her when you are attacking; you can't find her if she's hurt. I just want to make sure you guys are safe and repay you guys for not killing me off as soon as I get here. Mirio has been more than nice to me. If I can help you guys out a little to make up for having to protect me, that's fine. I won't take it back with me, and I'll even give you guys all my notes. My people aren't as advanced as you guys are, and I'm worried that if I do make what they want, they will start a war with it, but here, not so much. It seems a lot safer than in my world," you explained.
"I don't trust or like you; I just want you gone, you got that. As long as you're gone and no one dies, I'll leave you alone. Someone dies, and I'll make sure your life is a living nightmare, got it?" He asked.
"Yeah..." you said as he walked away.
"Ready to go?" Mirio asked as you finished your breakfast.
"Yeah... people around here are weird," you said as you changed your clothes, then quickly went with Mirio.
After an hour of driving and two hours of hiking, you made it to the watering hole where Mario wanted to swim, and evidently, some of your aircraft were lying around.
"No, not the water. Why does it have to be water?!" You asked as Miro smiled.
"This is also my secret swimming hole! Come on, we will have so much fun! Let's see who can get the most pieces," he said as he removed his clothes.
"No, I'm not going in that. Look, this river looks clean, but... I am not going in there. There could be snakes, brain-eating things in there," you paused.
"There aren't now; come on!" He said.
"Okay, look, I lived in a city. I never had friends growing up either, so I never learned how to swim or ride a bike or skateboard. The point is I'm not going into that water because it is too deep for me, and I don't swim," you said.
"I can teach you! Come on, please, it won't take long, and if it does, then I'll go get the pieces before they are too damaged for you to use," he said.
"No, I'm not going into the water. I will die if I go in there," you said.
"Not while I'm here," he said as he walked to you.
"No, no, stay away from me!" You said as you hugged a tree, thinking he wasn't strong enough to get you off it, but you were wrong.
"I brought you some swim trunks; now come on, those pieces aren't going to get themselves. You don't go in the water and let me help you learn to swim, then I won't get the pieces," Mirio said as you sighed.
"Fine, they can stay in the water. I can make new ones," you said as he smiled.
"Okay, then, we aren't leaving this area until you get in the water. You better do it before it gets dark. The water gets colder at night," Mirio said as you realized you weren't paying attention, so you had no idea how to get back to the car.
"Fuck! Fine. Shallow end only," you muttered, annoyed.
Learning to swim was scarier than you thought it would be. You tried to float but only sank, which made you cling to Mirio several times every time you felt like you were falling. Holding your breath underwater was worse than floating. Swimming was a whole other issue, and by the time you learned how to swim, it was dark. You guys dove down and got the pieces in the water, and once you were done, you got out of the water with your flashlight Mirio had brought and sighed weakly. You two played in the water and horse played before getting more pieces, but after you were done; you two started getting the pieces.
"God, swimming is hard," you said as Mirio emerged from the water naked.
"Mirio, where are your shorts?" You asked as he looked down.
"I have no idea. I felt a tug, but I thought that was you," he said.
You got out of the flashlight again and saw his swim trunks stuck on a stick.
"Look at that," he said as he went to get them.
You started looking through the pieces and noticed one piece had a tooth that wasn't from any fish around here, either.
"What the hell?" You asked as you felt a blanket get wrapped around you in a blanket.
"Sorry, your lips were turning blue," he said as he looked over your shoulder.
"You were naked here, take it. Look at this," you said as you showed him.
"Is that a tooth? awesome!" He said.
"No, not awesome, Mirio, this looks like a shark's tooth. We were in a fresh body of water," you explained.
"Hey, right now, let's just get these pieces back and work on that suit," he said.
"Just more issues and questions! I hate this... thank you for teaching me how to swim. It was fun after I learned; sorry it took me so long," you said as now you had to worry about something that bit your ship while you were going through the wormhole.
"Not a problem; you may be a genius, but you could always learn something new," he said with a smile.
"Yeah... I think I just destroyed your planet or worse," you said sadly.
"Don't worry about that right now. We just need to get your ship fixed first and make that suit you want to make for that invisible girl," he said.
"This whole thing was a dumb idea. I just wanted to find people like me or something. Yet I just I don't even know what I did," you said.
"You made a very amazing thing but it's just; everyone else isn't ready for it," he said.
"Thanks, just why is this a shark looking tooth attached to my ship?" You asked.
