Chapter 2
Directly after the bell rang dismissing them, Mr. Ghirahim quickly called Zelda over to his desk.
Sighing, the Hylian did as she was told, a look of slight confusion plastered on her face.
"Zelda, dear, please do try to pay attention in my class. I need you to understand that in order to move on to the next grade you need to get enough credits for your classes."
"Mr. Ghirahim, I do pay attention, well sometimes, but I can't help it if my mind wanders."
"I understand that Zelda, but, you are a gifted student, darling, I see great potential in you. If only you would take the time to appreciate it. For starters, I think that moving you from that window seat is a first step to helping you realize your potential."
"But Mr. Ghirahim," she cried out in protest.
"But nothing, darling, I need you to at least try to focus in my class, and that seat isn't helping one bit."
"Yes, Mr. Ghirahim," Zelda said, understandingly, turning and heading towards the exit.
"Ah, one more thing, dear."
Zelda turned around to face her pale teacher. "Yes?"
"Please don't use your phone in class, darling. I'd hate to have to take it away and seem like the bad guy."
"What, but I wasn't-"
"Don't deny the fact you were caught, dear, it'll only make it worse. Besides, I for a fact know that no one stares down at their lap and smiles in the middle of class while sneaking glances at the teacher."
"How did you-"
"After being a teacher for a while you pick up stuff. Besides, there isn't a thing that happens in this classroom that I don't know about."
"Alright, Mr. Ghirahim," Zelda said, turning back towards the exit.
"Ah, one more thing, darling. Congratulations, on getting your soulmate to reply. You two will make a nice pair, you'll just have to find them first," the pale teacher said.
"WAIT, YOU KNOW THEM?"
"Ah, I cannot say as to whether I do or don't, is it wrong to have a hypothesis?"
"Mr. Ghirahim-"
"I cannot tell you any more Zelda. Anyways, don't you have a class to be getting to dear?"
After nodding, she turned on her heel one last time and walked towards freedom.
Just as expected, Saria was already waiting outside for her friend from the minute class ended.
The moment Zelda appeared in the late group of students fleeing from Mr. Ghirahim's room, Saria didn't hesitate to grab her and pull her out.
"Uh, what was that about, why'd he make you stay behind like that?"
"He caught me on my phone."
"But, I was using mines too, why didn't he say anything to me?"
"I don't know Saria, sometimes I feel like he personally has it out for me, like, I always get caught doing things but when others do it too he doesn't really say much to them."
"Well, maybe it's because he expects more from you or something."
"I guess..."
"So anyway," she said, speaking more quickly and excitedly. "Tell me EVERYTHING that happened when you found out about them!"
Zelda looked down at her arm.
What is there to tell? All I know about them is they're left-handed or maybe it's just that they're so talented that they could write with both hands. I don't know, there could be tons of left-handed people in this whole country! It's not like I'll just find myself standing next to them randomly...
At that, she quickly grabbed Saria's arm and checked it for writing.
"What," Saria exclaimed, surprised at her friend's actions.
"Nothing, I just wanted to check to make sure that it wasn't you..."
"But I already have my soulmate, remember? He's some guy named Mido apparently. Mido claims to be the descendant of some great leader. Also, he seems really obsessed with meeting me, it's scary! Plus, I'm right handed, not left handed."
"Oh, right," Zelda said, staring at her arm a bit longingly.
Noticing her gaze, Saria placed a hand on her friend's shoulder. "Cheer up Zel, you'll find them, I believe in you!"
After sighing, she looked up Saria, a spark of newfound determination in her eyes. "I suppose you're right, I'll find them, eventually. I guess..."
"See? That's the spirit!"
"Uh, girls, what are you still doing outside," a familiar voice called to them.
Crap, its Mr. Ghirahim.
"Uh, we're... discussing the homework," Saria said, trying to keep a straight face and sell the lie.
"Darling, if you're discussing homework then I'm the king of Hyrule."
"Well, uh, you could be Mr. Ghirahim. You could always be a descendant of the old king, which technically would make you the king of Hyrule.
"Dear, as much as I'd like to be a descendant of royalty, I'm not quite sure that I am one. Just as I am not quite sure that you two were discussing homework. Especially because of the fact that I didn't even assign homework today."
"Well," Saria began.
"Well, what dearie?"
"Well, crap, I forgot my excuse."
"Ah, I'm glad that you admit to making excuses but now really isn't the time for that. I should be getting to my meeting," he said, pausing to look at the white watch on his arm. "Which starts in only a few minutes, and you girls should really be getting to class. Will I have to walk you guys to class or can you do it yourselves?"
Uh, on one hand, that could be a good excuse to use. I could get excused from being late to class if I'm walked by a teacher. But, on the other hand, do I really want to be seen with a teacher outside of the classroom? What would the others think of seeing me outside of class walking side by side with a teacher? They'd probably think I was a 'teacher's pet' or something.
Before Zelda could even open her mouth Saria quickly replied for both of them. "No, I think we can get there ourselves, Mr. Ghirahim. Thank you for the offer though."
"Alright girls, I hope I can trust you," Mr. Ghirahim said, before nodding and walking away.
Turning to Saria, the Hylian looked on at her in question. "Why'd you say that?"
"Zel, come on, be real with me for a second, do you really want to be walked to class with a teacher like a second grader? We're in the eleventh grade for crying out loud!"
At that, the Hylian girl chuckled. "That's true, you do have a point there Saria."
"Of course I do-"
In the middle of her reply, a loud ringing sound filled the hallway.
CRAP, THE LATE BELL...
"We should really get to class now Zel."
"I was thinking the same thing. See you at lunch?"
"Of course, see ya later Zel," Saria said, walking off to class.
"Alright, see you at lunch," Zelda said, turning on her heel and sprinting off down the hallway.
At the end of the hallway, the moment she turned the corner, instead of running into the open hallway like she normally would when she was late, she ran into something, hard, causing her to all on the floor from the impact.
Sitting on the cold floor, the Hylian grabbed her head and groaned, closing her eyes until the pain went away.
Ugh, what was that? Did somebody put a wall there or something?
When she opened her eyes she saw a Hylian boy with dirty blond hair sitting only about three feet in front of her, holding his head just as she was.
Oh, I must've run into him. Well, that's pretty inconvenient. I hope he's alright.
A moment later he opened his cerulean eyes and gave her a questioning stare. "What happened?"
Woah, his eyes are really pretty. Like really, really pretty.
"I uh, I kinda, ran into you, sorry."
"Oh," he said, starting to sit up and gather his books that were sprawled out around him. "Well, it's alright. I don't really think I was supposed to be in this hallway anyways, so, it's kinda my fault too."
"Wait, why would you be in the wrong hallway? Don't you know where your class is?"
At that he looked down at the books in his hands and stood up, offering a hand to her. "No, not really. I'm an exchange student. I'm not from here."
"Oh," the Hylian girl said, accepting his hand and allowing him to help her up. "Well cheer up, you've only got about what, a week left here? You'll be out of here in no time!"
"Well, I suppose you're right, and there are two weeks left, not one."
"Oh, well, you'll make it."
The second late bell rung, signaling that if she didn't get to class soon, she'd receive glares from the students as she walked in as if she had murdered someone. She shuddered at the thought of all those eyes upon her.
Zelda was brought back into reality by the boy's voice. "That was the late bell again, wasn't it?"
She nodded. "It was. I should really be getting to class now but," She paused to point down the hallway she just came from. "If you go that way then you should find one of those teachers that are always in the hallways to help people find their class."
"Alright thanks," he said, his gaze shifting to the flowers on her wrist that peeked out from under the sleeve of her light blue uniform shirt. "Did you draw those?"
Looking down at her wrist, she tugged on the sleeve a bit to try and hide the flowers. "Yes," she replied hesitantly.
What, was he going to accuse me of being childish and drawing flowers on my arm or something? So what if I like drawing flowers on myself. W-why is he taking so long to reply?
He looked at her with a sort of surprised expression on his face. "Really? I like your art, it's really pretty."
Zelda gave him a look of shock.
"W-what, was it something I said?"
"No, I wasn't really expecting you to say you liked it, a lot of people just accuse me of being childish or something."
"Well, maybe they're just jealous of your talents. Anyway, you said the I could find one of those teachers down that hallway right?"
"Thanks, and yes, there is one that way."
"No problem, and thanks for the directions," he said, giving her a smile. "I'll see you around I guess..."
"Alright, see you," Zelda replied walking off
About a little less than halfway down the hallway she quickly stopped and ran back to the spot where she had just left.
"Wait! What's your-"
She looked around the corner to find him nowhere to be found.
"...name..."
