This is for UK residents. Write a short story (up to 2,000 words) or poem (up to 600 words) with the title 'Being There'. The work must reflect the theme, directly or indirectly.

7 - 11 years - First Prize £100

12 - 16 years - First Prize £250

17+ - First Prize £1,000

RULES AND GUIDELINES:

-The Judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

-All entries must be in English, original and must not have been published or have won competitions elsewhere.

-Budleigh Salterton Literary Festival will retain the copyright to any published collection of winning entries, but authors will retain the copyright to their individual submissions.

-Poems must be a maximum of 600 words. Short stories must be a maximum of 2000 words.

-The competition is open to all ages, professions and nationalities resident in the UK from 7+ years of age.

-Entries must directly or indirectly reflect the theme of the competition "Being There".

-We accept only one submission per entry.

-All entries must comply with entry requirements and entries not submitted by email and in a Word document will not be considered.

-Please name the file with your name and age and all entries must include your name, address, and date of birth.

-Entries will not be accepted after the closing date. Writers will be notified before the launch of the Festival on 13th September 2017.
