Angel of Music
Hello fans! I'm pleased to announce that I have begun my writing with random people here on Wattpad. The lovely @Pebblemoon approached me and asked to write with me, and this is the one of the two fics we wrote on our first writing session. I hope you like it!
Pebble is in bold, my writing, as always, is in normal text.

Prompt: A picture and about 12 minutes of time, with a switch to let the other person finish off the fic.
Angel of Music
She stumbled through the sand, her legs heavy and tired. Every step into the thick piles of sand made her feel as if she was stepping into quicksand, the piles sucking her legs down slowly, every step bringing her closer and closer to her demise.
She didn't remember what had happened after the plane crash. She had gone from lounging in first class, feet propped up, watching a good movie, sipping from a champagne glass. There had been turbulence, she recalls, and a panicked warning from the pilot, and then BOOM, and nothing.
She had woken up near no civilization, with next to nothing on her and the cruel, hot sun beating down on her. Lost and with the knowledge that constant sun exposure was a bad idea, she decided to pick a direction and walk.
Now she wasn't so sure if that had been a good idea.
She continued walking away from the sun, envying the small patches of shade that the massive sand dunes were causing. Her body had long since sweated out what remaining water had been within her, and she was cursing her previous insistence on only drinking champagne, knowing that had left her slightly dehydrated long before the crash.
As she walked she contemplated every mistake that she had made in her life, cursing herself for her own life's failures, for surely that was the reason that she was stuck wandering and slowly dying when she could have been partying at her cousin's marriage like she was supposed to be.
The wind picked up at that moment, blowing her loose white blouse into her eyes and causing her to almost lose her balance. She lifted her head curiously, smelling the air with an eager sniff. There was a cold, fresh scent on the breeze that reminded her of the smell after a rainy day, and it filled her with a reckless hope. Was there an oasis nearby?
Of course there wasn't. She sighed, trying to push away hopeless thoughts of rescue. Then she squinted at something in the distance. It looked like a strip of rippling blue. Could it really be an Oasis? She took a step forward, her legs wobbling. But the Oasis seemed to get farther away the closer she got. She stumbled forward, her eyes stinging from the onslaught of sand and her nose streaming from the desert heat. She knew she wouldn't be able to last much longer. In the day, the temperatures in the desert could rise to dangerous high of 50 degrees celsius. But even if you survived the blistering heat, the night was still to come. At night, the temperatures could get 60 below zero. That was enough cold to give you frostbite three times over.
The Oasis was so close, now. She could almost reach out and touch it... Suddenly, she lost her footing and her cheek slammed hard on the cold hard ground. Her shirt snagged on a nearby cactus, and a few drops of blood spilled onto the sand. This is it. This is the end.
Wait... cold ground? She felt around with her hands. The ground was indeed cold. She looked up, squinting, and saw a majestic place before her. The trees were lush, the water was clear, and the air was fresh, unlike the harsh desert air she had been breathing in for too long.
She cupped her hands to bring a puddle of water to her mouth, and couldn't help but ignore all the warnings and slurped it eagerly.
"Ah!" She let the "water" fall from her hands, watching with growing sadness as it turned to sand in her hands and spilled on the floor. She spit frantically, wiping grains from where they glued themselves on the side of her mouth.
"But... but." She murmured, looking around her. It was an oasis! It had to be! The air was cool, she must have felt water! Why was it only sand?
Emotionally and physically exhausted, she crumpled into a ball of self pity and tried desperately to not cry, knowing that she needed that water to remain inside of her body. She felt sorrow fill her soul, and her mind broke as she gave up.
If only she had moved a few steps forward.
