Description: Remus finds something pretty curious at 3 a.m.
Story:
Remus rolled over in bed to find empty space. He woke up out of a dead sleep and sat up, rubbing his eyes. Sirius wasn't beside him.
He looked over at the clock and saw that it was just after 3 in the morning. He yawned and stretched, getting out of bed and shuffling his bare feet across the carpet. He opened the bedroom door and saw that the light was on in the kitchen.
He frowned and padded over. He leaned against the doorway to the kitchen and crossed his arms. Sirius was sitting on the floor in front of the fridge, eating the last piece of chocolate cake from Remus's birthday.
Remus went on watching Sirius devour the cake, getting the chocolate frosting all over his face in the process.
Finally, Remus couldn't take it any longer and he cleared his throat.
Sirius jumped, eyes widening comically as he threw the empty plate in his fright, brandishing the fork as a weapon. Once he realized it was only Remus, he lowered the fork in relief, then embarrassment.
"It's not what it looks like," he said through a mouthful of chocolate cake.
Remus chuckled. "I think it's exactly what it looks like."
Sirius opened his mouth to say something more, reconsidered as he realized he had just been caught eating chocolate cake on the floor in front of the fridge at 3 a.m. His case was kind of hopeless at that point, so he decided to just roll with it. "All right, it is exactly what it looks like."
Remus smirked at him fondly, a whole lot of love for Sirius shining in his eyes in that moment. He held out his hand and helped him up off the floor and handed him a napkin to wipe his face with.
"Now come back to bed, will you?"
Sirius smiled bashfully and squeezed Remus's hand. "Will do," he said, following Remus back to bed and turning off the lights in the kitchen behind him.
