Leo

"Oh Leo!" I heard Nate's annoying voice.

I don't want to wake up yet. Maybe if I ignore him he will go away.

"Leo!" He yelled and made a loud ringing sound hitting two pans together creating an unnecessary loud and annoying sound.

Leave my pans alone.

"Stop that!" I groaned and grabbed one of the pans.

"Oh you're awake" He pointed out, "Good morning sleeping beauty" He said smirking and leaned on the wall.

"You are the most annoying person on earth" I groaned and got up.

"And you're wearing batman boxers. I'm embarrassed for you"

I was embarrassed for myself too, but I had no choice.

I rolled my eyes, "Will you get the fuck out of my room? Why are you in my apartment, how did you even get in here?" 

"I might have used my lock picking skills"

"I will kill you" I growled.

"All bark and no bite" He said rolling his eyes, "Now let's go talk to Ares. He wants to talk to us"

Ares sent me on a mission to find some guys. Nate insisted he comes with me, but I told him I could handle it. He did get really worried though.

"Text me the moment you get there and when you're about to leave and when you arrive home or I'll place a tracking device on you next time" He had said.

I was back in the neighborhood that they'd found me three years ago. This place brought back memories. I could still remember how terrified I was. I wasn't that terrified boy anymore. I knew and trusted myself. Whoever tried anything would not end up good.

We had tricked these guys into thinking I was going to buy from them. Little did they know.

I heard footsteps coming my way, but it sounded like someone was running. Before I knew it someone bumped onto my chest and I heard their hard breathing.

I looked down to see a girl there and raised my eyebrow.

"I need to get out of here" She mumbled and I saw two guys walking towards us.

"Too late little girl" They said.

What's with girls always getting in trouble in the neighborhood? Could she be the same girl? She has curly hair too.

"Get behind me" I told her getting in front of her ready to take out my gun.

"No" She said firmly.

"I said get behind me"

"I can handle it" She said. She looked furious.

"Wait aren't you the guy we were supposed to sell our stuff too?" One of them said.

fuck.

"You're with her?" The other one asked clearly getting angry.

I grabbed the girls hand and started running as I heard their footsteps behind us.

I stopped when I found a hiding spot and turned to her, "Why couldn't you just do what I say and let me handle this?" I whispered clearly angry.

"Why-" She started loudly but I shushed her. She rolled her eyes and crossed her arms, "Why couldn't you let me handle my own problems and not step in to play the hero" She whispered.

"Because you were going to get yourself killed! Be thankful I was there!" I said as quietly as I could at this state. I wasn't really known for managing my anger.

Her features softened and her gaze lowered, "You're right" She mumbled.

Maybe that was too harsh.

"Look I know we didn't get a great start but now we have to get ourselves out of this mess" I said.

We can't hide here forever.

"You run and I'll deal with them. I was going to deal with them today either way"

"But they're two and you're one-"

I chuckled, "Trust me I've been through worse. Go" I told her. I could see the hesitation in her eyes, " What are you waiting for? Run" I said.

"Fine" She said before running off. I finally left our hiding place and they saw me.

"You!" One of them yelled, "This is a trap isn't it?" They asked.

Fuck. Again.

"Well since you found out-"

They immediately attacked me. They were big, but I was fast. Ares wanted at least one of them alive so I couldn't really shoot them. He said I should only kill if there's no other choice.

When did another guy appear? They called backup?

I guess there is no other choice.

I took out my gun and shot two of them. They fell to the ground, still alive, but the third guy had his gun pointed at me now.

"Make a move, I dare you" He said.

I didn't know what to do. I didn't have much experience yet. I knew Nate would make a move on purpose and mock him if he was here and Ares would never allow himself to be in a situation like this, but I didn't know what to do.

I took a few seconds to think. I had a gun too, I would just risk it and try to shoot him, but before I could move the guy yelled out in pain and fell to the floor unconscious. Behind him there was the girl.

She didn't run off. Stupid girl.

She had just saved my life but she looked terrified. She was holding a heavy brick, that's how she knocked that guy out. All of them were unconscious now, so I quickly texted Ares to send someone to clean up.

"Are you okay?" I asked her as I walked towards her.

"I-Yes, I am okay"

"You should've left when I told you to" I sighed.

"Hey! I saved your ass, you should be thankful" She said.

"Well I wouldn't even be in danger if you hadn't fucked up my plan"

"And I wouldn't even need to run off if you hadn't fucked up my plan"

We both stayed silent for a few minutes, there was so much tension you could cut through it with a knife.

"Thank you" I said quietly.

"Huh? What was that?" She asked as her lips formed into a smirk.

"Thank you" I said louder rolling my eyes.

"You're welcome, I guess" She said before turning around to walk away.

"Wait" I said which made her turn to me again, "What are you doing here? Why were they chasing you?" I asked. She looked young too, definitely younger than me and I was nineteen, which meant she was still a child.

"Too many questions" She said still smirking.

There was something about her. She was intriguing. I've never met a more interesting person. She was bold and mysterious.

"Is that all?" She asked crossing her arms.

"What's your name?" I asked.

"Tessa. I'm Tessa" She said holding out her hand.

"Leo"

She raised an eyebrow, "Like the zodiac sign"

I rolled my eyes, "Yes"

"Are you a leo? I am a leo" She asked chuckling.

She had just been chased, watched a fight and actually participated, knocked someone out and now she was all laughs and giggles.

"No, I'm a scorpio" I said letting out a small chuckle. I guess her energy was contagious.

"As much as I'd love to talk about astrology with you a little more, we're standing in front of three unconcious men and I don't think it would look really good if someone saw us" She said. 

So we walked away. Without even realising it, we were walking together. None of us said anything until I remembered that I had to get home or Nate would kill me.

or place a tracking device of me like he said.

"Do you live here?" I asked.

"Not really, but I'll take the bus" She said shrugging.

I would offer to drive her but she probably thought the bus is safer than a stranger's car. I was worried, but I could just hope she would get home safely.

"Well stay safe and out of trouble" I said.

"I'll try" She said giving me a smile before walking away.

It felt kind of weird seeing her go. She was a stranger. I would probably never see her again, but what if I wanted to see her again? I haven't seen someone with such positive energy in forever.

Well maybe Nate is like that, but he's also annoying.

I shook my head trying to forget about what happened. I couldn't let a little girl distract me.
