Internships 1/2
After all the drama involving my memory, I was still allowed to go on my internship with my selected pro hero. After the sports festival, I was given fifty-three offers. One of them came from Endeavor, Todoroki's father. I glance at him, but his expression was unreadable. Silently ticking the box next to Endeavor's name, I fill out the extra information sheet and hand it in to Aizawa.
"Are you sure you don't want to think about it longer?" he asks, glancing at the papers before looking back at me.
"Yeah, I'm sure. See you next week," I say, waving goodbye as the bell rings to go home. He nods at me, his way of saying goodbye, and I walk out to the front gate. Most of class 1A passes me until Izuku shows up, looking rather dejected.
"Aww, don't look like that! Just because you didn't get any offers-"
"No, I got one. It came in late, but I'm really nervous about it. The person who placed the offer is the same person that taught All Might," he mutters, falling into step beside me.
"Oh. Well, at least you got one," I say, trying to cheer him up. He looks up from the ground and smiles at me.
"Oi, move it, assholes!" Bakugou barks, shouldering his way between us. Reacting on instinct, I grab his arm and twist it painfully.
"Watch where you're going!" I shout in his face as he turns to glare at me, beating him to it. He seems stunned and I let him go, shoving him away from me. Izuku watched the encounter with obvious stars in his eyes.
"Ah, don't look at me like that, Izuku." I say, hiding my red face.
"That was terrifying! But you were so cool!" he says excitedly, making me smile. Even now, he still reminded me of a small kid. I ruffle his hair and speed up, leaving him behind. He knew by now that I wanted to show that I loved him, but was too embarrassed to say it.

Everyone meets outside the train station on Monday, holding our bags and costumes. Aizawa was already waiting for us and looked dead on his feet. I guess he woke up earlier than usual because of this.
"Good morning, I'm too tired for this. Make sure you arrive in the right city, and don't lose anything. Especially not your costumes. I'll see you again in a week." he says, his eyes half-lidded like he's about to fall asleep.
"Yessir!" Mina shouts, holding her costume above her head.
"It's yes sir! Speak clearly!"
"Yes, sir..."
I chuckle quietly at their actions, just as Todoroki finds his way over to me.
"I heard you were going to intern with my father?" he asks, and I feel strangely intimidated by his presence and the look he was giving me.
"Yeah, I am," I say, my voice shaking slightly. I silently curse it.
"Seems we'll be staying the week together then. Just don't get in my way," he says harshly, then turns around to go back to where he was standing before.
"Ouch, that was harsh..." I mutter, the first train pulling into the station. I wave goodbye to Kirishima as he boards. He doesn't seem to notice. My train pulls in next and I wave goodbye to the class before turning my back on them and walking to a free seat.

The trip took two hours and I was in and out of awareness the entire time, leaning on Izuku's shoulder and taking power naps that left me more tired than when I started. I was glad that I was going to be in the same city as three of my classmates. At least I wasn't completely alone. I could feel Izuku get more and more nervous as we approached our destination and silently slipped my hand into his.
"What're you thinking about?" I ask him. He looks away from me, probably hiding his blush. I smile.
"Ah, it's nothing, really." he says unconvincingly. I snicker.
"You're a terrible liar. I can literally feel you getting nervous."
"That's creepy, Erin."
I laugh, drawing the attention of a few other passengers. I send them an apologetic glance before turning my attention back to Izuku.
"What really is wrong, though? Can I do anything to help?" I ask.
"Nah, I'll be fine. Thanks for asking," he replies, smiling at me. I smile back before taking my last power nap and leaving his side, heading in different dirctions towards our internships. Todoroki was silent the entire time, his expression cold and unreadable. A lot of things about Todoroki are unreadable.
"Are you looking forward to this?" I ask, trying to break the icy silence. His expression doesn't change.
"Not necessarily, but my feelings don't matter. All I need to do is become stronger."
During his talk, I noticed a glint in his eye as he said "stronger." He was slightly less tense now, as well. I decided to keep him talking.
"What's having a Quirk like yours like?" I ask, "Is it fun?"
He looks at me in surprise and I immediately regret ever starting this conversation. Thankfully, he doesn't seem to take offence to my question. That doesn't mean he answers though. We quickly fall into silence again. Very awkward silence. In fact, I sighed in relief when we finally reached Endeavor's hero agency.
"Please, come in! Sir Endeavor is on floor three," the lady at the front desk says, pointing us towards a set of stairs. We climb them and I start sweating nervously. If Todoroki's presence was intimidating, who knows what Endeavor would be like?
"Come in," a commanding voice calls, startling me back to reality. I shake my head and walk into the room, holding the door open for Todoroki. He sends me a soft glare and I wonder what I did wrong. I felt very out of place and nervous in this room. Endeavor was just as intimidating as I imagined, putting Todoroki to shame. I bow my head formally, hoping I never got shouted at by anyone in the Todoroki family.

The internships were uneventful, in my opinion, until the third day. We were out on a patrol at night when Endeavor suddenly recieved a distress call. We were about half way there when both Todoroki and I got a message from Izuku, showing only his location. We share a look. Todoroki shouts to Endeavor where we're going while I zap there ahead of him, registering Iida lying injured on the ground, another pro hero clutching his wound, and Izuku himself. Light green sparks similar to my lightning flew around him, making him glow. I was dumbstruck by the sight, at first. His eyes were so bright.
"Erin, get down!" he shouts at me, tackling me to the ground with surprising speed as a blade flies over where my head was a few moments ago. He lands on top of me and quickly rolls to his feet. I scramble out of the fire zone just long enough to gather what's going on. A man wearing some kind of pirate outfit was attacking them. Iida couldn't move. I quickly jump in, using my full speed to deflect a blow aimed at Izuku.
"Please explain who this is!" I shout, not breaking my momentum and dashing after the villain.
"He's the hero killer, Stain! He hurt Iida's brother!" Izuku shouts back, running after us, "And Iida wascoming to get revenge, then got paralysed!"
"How did he get- SHIT!" I yell, whipping my head to the side. A throwing knife grazes my cheek, drawing blood. It clatters to the ground out of reach. While I was distracted by the throw, Stain moves forward and grabs the front of my shirt, dragging me in towards him, his tongue outstretched to lick the blood from my cheek. At the last second, I dissolve, leaving him holding empty air.
"At least buy me dinner, first!" I yell, zapping around behind him and reaching out to shock him. He dodges away, leaping backwards - towards Izuku. At that moment, Todoroki arrives and gets in the way, preventing Izuku from getting a good hit in.
"Welcome to the party!" I snap, chasing the fleeing villain. It seems that he had decided we were too dangerous and was escaping by leaping from wall to wall and going over the roofs. I beat him to it, kicking him with all my strength, sending him crashing back to Earth. While I was chasing Stain, Izuku managed to get a few words in with Todoroki and Iida. I overheard them saying that, if the villain manages to ingest your blood, you'll become paralysed.
'So, that action earlier was a close call. I'll be more careful,' I promise silently, landing heavily on top of Stain. He coughs, throwing me off him. I skid along the ground for a few metres, shocked at the force of his throw, before running towards him again, my palms sparking with a full charge. He leaps backwards, snatching up the knife from the ground that he threw earlier.
The knife he threw earlier.
"CRAP!" I shout, zapping towards him at full speed. I appear just before him, reaching out to snatch it away, as he runs his tongue along the red stain still present on the blade. Instantly, I felt all control of my limbs disappear. I tumble to the ground in a limp heap, unable to even twitch on my own accord. He smirks, seemingly forgetting my classmates, drawing his sword and holding it over me.
"Goodbye, hero," he says, his voice thin and raspy. All I can do is stare as he brings the sword down... and gets a face full of punch from Izuku. The sword clatters to the ground some distance away. While Stain is stunned, Izuku sweeps me up from the ground and carries me behind Todoroki. The two of them work together to defeat Stain, and I took notice of Todoroki using his flames a lot more than I expected. I guess he's over the whole "flames are existential daddy issues" thing.
Over time, I felt the effect of the paralysis waning, allowing me to move my fingers and toes. Right when I felt I could move again, Stain finds an opening and dashes towards Todoroki, his blade approaching quickly, about to tear him in half. My heart leaps to my throat the same time I leap forwards, literally throwing myself off the ground and dragging Todoroki out of the way, putting myself in the path of the blade.
"BRING IT, STAIN!!!" I scream, grabbing the sword in one hand, the blade cutting through my gloves and into my palm, and unload everything I have stored up.
The current flows through the sword, through the handle, and frying his body in seconds.
