Reader's pov

I woke up to a knock on my door again. I sat up on my bed and rubbed the sleep from my eyes. I then get up, brush my hair make my way to the door. There was a second knock but I opened the door, stopping it. It was Stein and the red haired man from before. "Well I'd never thought I'd get a wake up committee so soon." I say giggling at my own joke. "Well you got one. (Y/n) this is spirit, my original partners. He is now the personal scythe of Lord Death." Said Stein. I look at the Spirit as he had a childish smile on his face. "Nice to meet you (y/n)." He said holding out his hand for me to shake. I gladly did, smiling back. I looked at the time on the clock. "I have to get ready if I want to be at school on time." I say making my way to my room. I picked out my clothes and did my usual routine. When I was done I was wearing a (f/c) hoodie and white jeans. I then walked out of my room to see Stein and Spirit were talking.

When they noticed me they got up from their chairs and we all left the apartment. When we got to school we were a little late. Everyone was giving us questionable looks as we both walk in. I just ignored it and took my seat. This time I had to sit in the front row cause a couple of kids sat in bot the corner seats. "OK class. You may remember the events that happened yesterday. Well I will be teaching you about what I did wrong and how not to do it. Its called underestimating your opponent. You may know that I can see souls. Well (y/n) is one of few who can use soul seals. These are seals that cover up one's soul, but unlike witches this makes the soul appear smaller. This means if I were to look at her soul, it would appear smaller, making it easier to underestimate her. This is a good strategy as it lowers the opponent's guard." Stated Stein.

Couldn't put it into better words myself. "I would like to ask you students to understand that you don't fight (y/n). After all she did beat me and she is a new student. Please welcome her to our school." He says. All of the students began to clap, along with Stein. I small smile appears on my face as they begin to quite down. "Ok, continuing the lesson. Underestimating your opponent will hurt in the long run. You will end up lowering your guard. This will end up giving your opponent the advantage. You don't know there moves till the fight begins and they might have a few tricks up their sleeves. It's like Soul and Maka's witch hunter. A very powerful attack and easy to over throw a enemy with." Says Stein pushing up his glasses. "Thank you Prof. Stein." Said a girl with pigtails and a boy with white hair and sharp teeth. "Maka, Soul, and (y/n). I would like you three to see me after class." And just as Stein said that, the bell rang.

I got up from my seat as kids started pouring out. I then make my way over to Stein and wait for the other two. When we were all there Stein smiled. "What's this about?" Said "Soul". "Well I want (y/n) to make some new friends here. I was hoping that you three could be friends. She already met kid, and kind of black star." He said. I scratched the back of my neck. "What do you mean kind of?" Asked Maka. "Well as soon as we left the Death room he tried battling her. She knocked him out ten seconds flat." Said Stein. Maka and Soul froze. "Don't worry. I didn't hurt him. I just used my knock out technique. He woke up 15 later." I say looking down at the floor. "Actually I think that's pretty cool." Said Soul. I look up with a little bit of surprise from his words.

That shock soon turned to a smile. "By the way Professor, what did happen yesterday. Me and Soul were on a mission so we didn't see." Said Maka. Stein just laughed. "Well a lot happened yesterday for (y/n). She beat me in a battle, became a Death scythe, and I became her Meister." He said. I swear Soul and Maka's jaws hit the floor. "IN ONE DAY HOW?!?!" Shouted Maka. "Well, two days ago, Sid found me in my home. It was long since abandoned. Sid took me here and Lord Death gave me a home, food, and clothing. I am forever grateful to to them and Stein." I say, turning my gaze to Stein with a smile. Stein just looked confused. "What do you mean me?" Stein said. I just laughed. "You were nice to me from the start with only know little about me. No one was ever this nice to me as you three. I want to try my hardest to repay you three back. That's one of the reasons I joined this school. I want to protect it and the people in it at all costs." I say, my smile growing bigger.

Stein looked a little surprised. I felt the three of them hug me. "Thank you all." I say hugging them back. "It's no problem." Says Maka and Soul. After we break away from each other we all look at Stein. "(Y/n) I want you to help me with training Maka and Soul. I think since you are weapon and Meister that it could help them with training. Plus you can see souls. This could help Maka a lot." Said Stein. I nodded, looking at the two of them. They nodded back. "OK let's go." Says Stein.

Time skip

"Ok (y/n), I know you are not used to this. I want you to change to a weapon of your choice since this is your first time." Said Stein. We stood at the training grounds, me and Stein stood across from Maka and Soul. Soul was in his weapon form. I nod and change my form as well. I was a pair of giant scissors. The blades were a tint of (f/c). I could hear a slight gasp from Stein but when I looked at him he seemed to direct his gaze to the ground. I swore I saw his cheeks turn a barely noticeable pink. I just shrugged it off. "OK Make and Soul. I will be letting (y/n) take over the lesson. I'd love to see her give you two a few tips." Said Stein. I was shocked. At first I thought he was joking, but then I realize he had that look in his eyes. He has a look that makes you know he isn't kidding around. The three of us nodded and the match began.

Make and Soul began to charge at us as Stein just stood there, waiting. As soon as they swung Stein used me to block. "Guys, sometimes the best plan is to wait for the opponent to strike first." I say smirking. I could hear Soul growl as Maka backed up. Now its our turn. I thought. Stein began to run at then at a fast speed, but not his fastest. Maka prepared to block as we grew closer. As she tried to block, Stein jumped and aimed for her head. She  had no time to block as we purposely miss. "Always expect the unexpected." I say as my voice grew a little dark. I could hear Maka gasp as she realizes what just happened. "If Stein had not purposely missed, you would have been dead before you knew it." I say changing back to human form and turned my gaze to the ground. I was no longer smirking. I was being completely serious. "Also." I say looking at both of them.

They both gave me their full attention. "Never let your guard down around the enemy or someone you just met. You'll never know who you can truly trust in this world. I learned that the hard way. So take it from me." I say as I begin to walk back to my apartment. My sight returned to the ground as I left.
