Chapter 1. Damn Yankees

(A/n pretend Damn Yankees got back together, and those are my actual notes from the second time I saw night ranger, Agust 17, 2019.)

"Hey brother, ready for another dose of my Yankee pride? In the jungle, you just might stumble onto something that you never tried, got that right!" I sang along with Jack Blades, at a Damn Yankees one time reunion concert. I'm glad they got back together for this one concert, Blades and Shaw are crazy on stage. I snapped back to reality just as Jack Blades belted into the mic "They say Hey, hey, damn Yankee Woh, oh, oh, damn Yankee How we doin'?" I'm definitely attending the night ranger show next week.

The night of the Night Ranger show, they did amazing. I have a backstage pass. I notice the keyboardist, Eric Levy, was very still. Then they surprised me. "As you all know, I was in a band called Damn Yankees. And since we're not currently on the road, why don't we play a Damn Yankees song?" Jack Blades asked the crowd. The crowd cheered. "Brad, what Damn Yankees song should we play?" He asked the lead player, and he started playing coming of age! I stared at Eric Levy during this song, to give the band members all a chance at catching my eye.

After that song was over, my attention was to Jack Blades. Of course, after a keyboard solo. The drummer was singing the sequel to Sister Christian, called Sentimental Street, while Jack was playing his bass. I admired his playing style, after all I am a bass player myself. I guess I should introduce myself. My name is Claire Loup, and I am French. I play bass for the all female band, Power of the Arora Vitality, which is a power metal band. In French it roughly translates to Puissance de la Vitalité Arora.

After Sentimental Street, another suprise. My one true love from Alice Cooper who doesn't know I exist, Keri Kelli, is in the band so they played Schools Out. My eyes were glued on Keri. I don't know if I'm being biased, but knowing he's in the band made my experience 100 times better. Keri is hot, he can play guitar, what more would you want in a guy? I love him so much, and I'm glad I get to meet him. Not that I hate the other members, I just love him.

After that song, Brad Gillis played Crazy Train. He has real talent, I can see why Ozzy chose him to play in his band. I sang along to the line I identify with the most, "mental wounds not healing,  life's a bitter shame, I'm going off the rails on a crazy train!" Brad is extremely talented, as i said before. Especially when he hit the solo, I watched as his fingers played faster, moving down the fret board as the solo went on. I'm glad he played with Ozzy for a bit.

Finally it got to Sister Christian, and I despise that song. I don't know what it is, maybe it's too sentimental. But I sang along to the familiar song regardless, with its famous "you're motoring, what's your price for flight? In finding mister right You'll be alright tonight", which is a classic. But I hate it. I'm conflicted on that's song. It's a classic, but it's not good and it's too overplayed. Sorta like don't stop believing, even though I love don't stop believing. It's just too overplayed. But Kelly Keagy has an amazing voice.

Night Ranger ended the show with you can still rock in America, which is a fave of mine. Once I went backstage, I got my pictures and signatures. I hugged Keri Kelli and Jack Blades, since I knew them from different bands. I just learned tonight Brad was in Ozzy. Tonight was very much like a dream. I hope I see Keri again.
