Chapter 9
Third person
The two boys had fallen asleep in the forest, snuggled close to each other. The only reason Leo woke up was because the sunlight had started to burn his skin. It also meant he was out passed curfew.
"B-Blake... Wake up... I have to leave..." Leo said softly, shaking the other while also trying to hide the pain he felt.
The vampire didn't want to worry the other. He would start to heal once he got out of the sun. He just needed to do so soon so he would heal faster.
"Blake..." He said again, the pain showing in his voice.
The flame boy slowly woke up, seeing smoke rise off the other's burning body. He was now fully awake.
"Leo!!! Y-You're in the sun!!!" He yelled, stating the obvious.
"I-I know that... I n-need to get home..." Leo replied, his burns getting worse by the second.
Within seconds Blake had picked up his injured friend and started running towards the Candy kingdom. Leo was still burning some, but it was better to be in the shadow of his friend than in direct sunlight.
It took several minutes to get to the Candy kingdom. Each minute that passed it seemed that Leo burned worse than before. There were brief moments of shade of course, giving some relief to the vampire.
Marshall Lee and Gumball were awake, waiting for their son to return home. Normally they would be asleep by now, but with Leo not home they were staying up. They were unhappy that their son was out passed curfew. Sure, this was only the first time he was late, but that didn't mean that his parents wanted this to become a habit.
Blake ran passed the banana guards and into the castle. Once Leo was in the dark he started to heal. It took a few moments, but eventually he was fine.
"A-Are you okay?" Blake asked, still holding the other bridal style.
"Y-Yeah... I'm fine..." The vampire replied, blushing slightly from the way the situation seemed.
Blake set him on his feet and sighed. He felt bad that his friend had gotten burned while they were together.
"I'm sorry Leo." The flame boy apologized softly.
"Don't be... It's not you're fault... We just fell asleep... I'm fine now..." Leo reassured, not wanting his friend to feel guilty.
They hugged for a few moments before they heard the distinct sound of someone clearing their throat. Leo glanced back before cringing. It was his parents.
"Leo, is this your friend?" Marshall asked, noticing the two's close contact.
The vampire nodded and they separated a moment after that. Leo could sense that he was in trouble and did not want to stick around. Unfortunately it was far too late for that. He knew that he would not be able to avoid this.
Sure, Leo knew that he would have to talk to his parents about Blake eventually, but this was not the way he wanted to do it. Somehow he felt that this was the worst way to start a serious conversation.
