Why I Love The Beatles
This is so I can be on the Beatles Talkshow! And for Lilie79 's contest!
Now you may be asking why I love the Beatles so much and think of them as the best thing that ever came to be. Well I can explain. It's not just their amazing songs that inspired me so much, it was also the Beatles as people and how they changed rock music forever.
They started out as a simple band that wrote simple songs. It's so.. Pleasantly simple and nice to listen to. Then as the years went by, the Beatles grew as songwriters, they wrote deeper and more meaningful songs than ever before. They still wrote a few love songs but they all improved greatly in their writing and we're talking about important topics as well, such as the civil rights movement in Blackbird, how the people have the power to chose what to do for their country and to protest against anything they think is corrupt in Revolution and to just simply being with a friend you have known for many years in Two Of Us. What I'm saying is that the Beatles have a very wide variety of subjects that their songs have, even those that make no sense such as I Am The Walrus and Dig A Pony are enjoyable to listen to as no one else had ever thought about writing nonsensical songs before.
It wasn't just the lyrics that have changed, it was the sound the Beatles used as well. At first they stuck with electric or acoustic guitars and a drum. Then as music progressed, so did they. They bought new instruments to the recording studio such as keyboards, pianos, bongo drums and most famously, the sitar. They also began to experiment with their recorded music, such as playing music in reverse in Rain and I'm Only Sleeping, being as psychedelic as possible in Tomorrow Never Knows and Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, adding animal noises to the fade out to Good Morning Good Morning, using only a synthesizer in Because and using an entire orchestra in A Day In The Life. No band from today would ever try to experiment as much as the Beatles did at their peak.
Now on to the Beatles as individuals. John is my favorite of them all, this is because he was very passionate about world peace and human rights. He really hoped to see the world become a better place and wanted violence and corruption to end. He wrote songs that spoke to others, Power To The People was a political protest song where John tells everyone that they get to choose their leader and how they can fight for their rights, Working Class Hero was about how the lower income workers shouldn't be dismissed as useless and how the higher class people aren't as squeaky clean as they always make themselves up to be, Gimme Some Truth was all about how politicians will lie and bribe others so they can be in power and don't care about the public.
He may have made some mistakes such as not always being there for Cynthia and Julian, but he knew about what he had done and wanted to fix everything with his first family and later bonded with his then preteen son. He then took time off in order to care for his second son, Sean for five years. Everything was going so well until the jerk of all jerks had to go and kill the poor man and leave his families heartbroken. I'm sure if John lived he would have continued to bond with Julian and write amazing music that would have inspired us all.
Then onto my second favorite Beatle, George. George always seemed like the odd one out to me. He always looked bored in every photo he was in while his bandmates were as happy as clams and his accent sounded thicker than the others. Then I saw how devoted he was to his music and Hinduism. He really believed in everything he talked about and was very honest which I like. I love that he was pushing foreword with his songwriting and is now just as recognized as a songwriter as John and Paul are. His awkwardness is also something that should be mentioned, he always stuck out among the other Beatles this way and love to do things his own way. Also I adore his singing voice.
Then there's Paul, the left handed bass player who's still alive and rocking to this very day. Paul was John's songwriting partner and the cute one of the group. Like his older friend, Paul was passionate about his music and loves to play for an audience. His songwriting might have stuck with the silly love songs from the old times, but what's wrong with that? Paul still wrote amazing lyrics and his songs are good to listen to, he also made some political songs such as Pipes Of Peace, Give Ireland Back To The Irish and Ebony And Ivory. He still has so much talent and passion in his music, even in his mid seventies. His devotion to animal rights and his love for them is something that I love the most about him. I love animals too and would love to study them one day, if I ever met Paul, I could talk for hours about animals and how they should be treated equally like us.
And last but not least, Ringo. He was the backbone of the Beatles. The drums were what I notice the most in a song and Ringo's drumming is something I have never heard before from any other band out there. He had his own style which influenced many others. He may not have written as many songs as his bandmates, but his solo songs are nice to listen to as well, Ringo has an amazing voice and it's a shame he didn't sing as often. But not only are his musical skills wonderful, but also his adorableness and passion for peace and love. Like John, Paul and George, he too wants to see the world become a better place and just wants others to stop fighting. All of the art on his website is for sale and every cent will go to charities that will help with alcohol/drug addiction and household problems. He also seems like a very kind person to be with, he sees his bandmates as brothers and continues to tour to this day and loves to joke around on Twitter and in interviews.
And this concludes my essay about why I love the Beatles so much and how much I adore them as individuals as well. I hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed writing.
