Sonic and Y/N were running and skating away from E-113 that kept firing lasers at them, which they dodged that.

"Whoa-ho-ho! Kitty's got claws and lasers!"

"You really need to stop with the puns and jokes sometimes..."

Sally and Amy are hiding behind the tree, waiting for the good time to take down E-113 as Sonic and Y/N are getting it close to them. Sonic stuck his tongue out.

"That's it, bright eyes! Right this way!"

What they didn't know is that the robot could see and know that Sally and Amy are hiding for an ambush and didn't hesitate to claw at the hedgehog siblings and the tree where the girls are hiding.

"Oh, shoot—Duck!"

Sally and Amy quickly moved out of the way safely.

"You guys okay?!" Y/N shouted, still skating away from the robot.

"We're fine! Put some distance between you and that thing and regroup with us!"

"Don't hog it all to yourself, for once! I want a whack at it!"

"Easier said than done, ladies!" Sonic shouted, dodging the lasers. "Gotta hand it to the doc—his E-100 bots always give me and sis a workout, but we've never technically lost to one yet. And I don't plan on changing that!"

"Well, we better be careful!"

Sonic and Y/N ran and skated up to the cliff, but E-113 knocked them off by firing the lasers to where they're running and skating on, causing them to fall.

"YOW!"

"AH!"

E-113 got ready to fire as Y/N goes to activate her bubble to protect herself and her brother.

"...Lucky shot, jerk..."

Suddenly, a yellow tail caught Sonic by the wrist.

"Gotcha!"

"Wha—Oh! Awesome!"

It was Ray who saved Sonic as he dodged the incoming lasers.

"Thanks for the save, Ray!"

"Eep! Sure thing!"

"Wait! My sis!"

"Don't worry! She'll be okay!"

Just as Y/N thought she was about to fall to her death, a pair of gloved hands caught her. She looked up in surprise to see Mighty who smirk down at her, carrying her in bridal style.

"Mighty!"

"Falling for me already?"

"You wish!" she rolled her eyes playfully, slightly blushing.

"You sure about that?"

Without looking back, Mighty grabbed E-113 in one hand and threw it towards the rocky wall, breaking it as it's now offline.

"Okay, maybe I am."

Mighty chuckled and brought her down as Sonic and Ray approached them.

"Long time, no see, Mighty!" Sonic elbowed him by the arm who elbowed back.

"Why is it whenever we meet up, you're always in some kind of trouble? Especially, Y/N."

Sonic and Mighty grabbed each other's hands as they're about to wrestle.

"Me? You're the one who—"

"Sonic?! Y/N?! Are you two alright?!" Amy exclaimed as she and Sally approached them.

"It's all good, ladies! Our boys Mighty and Ray came out of nowhere to lend a hand!"

Mighty bowed to Sally.

"Greetings, your highness. We were in the area, heard the fighting, and came to help."

He and Sally shook hands.

"No need for formalities, Mighty. As far as I'm concerned, you and Ray are honorary Freedom Fighters."

"Thanks, your high—Sally. That means a lot."

"I told you I wanted a shot at the robot!" Amy scolded Sonic.

"Mighty totaled it, not me!"

"And you had me worried sick! What would I do if that thing took your head off?!"

"Why aren't you scolding sis, too?"

"Because she knows she can protect herself and may get into trouble sometimes. At least, she always protected your head."

"Ha!" Y/N laughed, making him pout.

"It looks like that robot gave you trouble. Our camp's not far—chill out for a bit, okay?" Mighty offered.

"No can do! We appreciate the help, but we're—"

"Trying to save the world?"

"...You taking psychic lessons from Silver?"

"Haha, who? No, man. You're always on the move, but if Sally and Y/N's here, it means you actually have a purpose." Mighty said, winking at Y/N.

"You're too kind."

"Oh, Mighty! Stop!"

"We're hunting down the Chaos Emerald and ancient sites called 'Gaia Temples.' Together, their power should fix the world." Sally explained.

"Ugh... When the world broke apart, it was terrifying! Entire chunks of the jungle just... falling into nothing..." Ray grimaced.

"All my strength... and I couldn't do anything..." Mighty glared, shaking in anger.

"Mighty, remember Master Moss's lessons."

Mighty took a deep breath and placed his hands together.

"We change what we can. We manage what we cannot."

"That's new." Y/N noted.

"Uh... huh." Sonic said, looking at him eyebrow raised.

"Sorry. You think there's an emerald or a temple out here?"

"Yup! Sal tapped into Eggman's network! Now when he gets a lead on anything, we beat him to it!"

"And it's been going so smoothly... It's... just a feeling. Eggman doesn't station his E-100 units just anywhere. It felt like that thing was waiting to ambush us." Sally said.

"Now that you said it, it is odd." Y/N said, thinking about it.

"Oh! The Egg Army has been working hard to secure something! Maybe the robot was brought in to help guard it?" Ray guessed.

"See, Sally? You're overthinking it." Amy said.

"Oh? Do you have any intel?" Sally asked as Mighty and Ray brought them to the nice house that look like a fruit as they walk upstairs.

"Yep. We've been scouting the base for weeks. Until now, there've been too many troops for me and Ray to handle." Mighty explained.

Sonic and Mighty fist bumped.

"But now that we're here, we can make some noise.."

"...and break their toys. But first... Everyone, it's my pleasure to introduce you to my master."

There sitting before them is an anthropomorphic sloth that is mostly covered in jungle green fur. He has a white face with black patches around his eyes and a white beard that falls down to the end of his torso. He also has black palms with long white fingers, and wears black-colored "boots" on his feet, with his actual feet being colored white. His name is Moss the Sloth.

"We are all masters and pupils, for we all have something to teach. Welcome, children."

Mighty bowed to Moss.

"Master. He's molded me, giving me a new level of focus and control."

"It has been easy when the 'clay' is so pure." Moss said.

"Mighty was so worried about losing control since he's so strong. Now, thanks to Moss, he's just so--happy!" Ray smled.

"C'mon, dude-- Seriously? You found wisdom from this fuzzy fortune cookie?" Sonic teased.

"Sonic! Give him som respect!" Y/N scolded, glaring at him.

Moss suddenly stare straight at Sonic with his eyes lidded for a moment, making him froze until he poked his chest.

"You... have a touch of darkness to you. An inner turmoil you struggle to contain on your own..."

He then pointed at Y/N who flinched.

"You have a touch darkness to you too."

"I knew it! It's from when you two were exposed to that awful Dark Gaia stuff!" Amy shouted.

"Hold on-- Are you two sick?" Mighty questioned, feeling worried for Y/N.

"What's the matter?" Ray questioned in confusion.

"Sonic... Y/N..." Sally said, crossing her arms.

"I knew there's a come to this, but you caught us. We've been..." Y/N sighed, but was cut off by Sonic.

"Cut it out! For the millionth time--I'm fine! Y/N's fine! The world needs help, not me or sis! So let's get to pinpointing that emerald already!"

"Grr... You stubborn..." Amy grumbled, bringing out her magical flute.

"I don't know why you don't want me to tell them, but fine... You stupid blue..." Y/N grumbled, closing her eyes as her ruby glows.

The magical energy flow through Amy and Y/N as they felt something.

"I sense the Chaos Emerald's energy is near..."

"She's right... Just a few miles to the south of us..."

"What in the world?" Mighty questioned Amy's power as he already expected Y/N's power, but not hers.

"'Mystic Melody.' New trick she learned under the ocean. I'll... explain later." Sonic informed.

"You might as well explain it now. The only thing south of here is the Egg Army's base. If you want to grab the emerald before they ship it off, we'll need to strike tonight and monsters come out in the dark. So rest up." Mighty said.

"Sounds like a good plan." Y/N smiled.

That night, Egg Army Dig Site

Sonic and the others are hiding behind the bushes.

"Something's wrong. Security is too light..." Sally whispered, seeing there's barely any other Egg Army.

"'Cause we already took out the super-Badnik!" Sonic whispered back.

"But they should still be guarding against the Dark Gaia Monsters!"

"She's right. Something's not right." Y/N whispered.

"Fine—Then we're ambushing them now! Woo!" Sonic shouted, jumping down.

"Sonic! That wasn't the plan!" Sally exclaimed.

Soon, Sonic and Amy smashed through the robots, freeing the animals. They soon walk out of the bushes as they walk towards the Chaos Emerald that's inside the glass tube Sonic is leaning against.

"Or... the Egg Army is all asleep? Either way—we won. So let's grab the emerald and—"

Suddenly, the tower activate the electricity from the top all around the sky, caging them in.

"You've given Lord Eggman so much trouble, Sonic, Y/N. I honestly didn't think you'd fall for our trap so easily. But you won't have to live with the indignity for long. I don't take prisoners!" Egg Boss Thunderbolt said with an evil grin.

The electricity struck Ray.

"AHHH!"

"RAY!!!" Sonic and Y/N exclaimed.

Mighty ran over to Ray, but got struck by the electricity as well.

"Ray! I'm—RRRRGHG!"

"Sonic! Y/N! We've got to—!"

Sally was cut off by the electricity hitting the ground and exploding them away. Sonic and Y/N fell to the ground in pain as Amy ran over to them.

"Sonic—AHHH!"

Amy then got struck by the electricity. Sonic and Y/N are on the ground overwhelmed as all of their friends are being electrified. This made them grow very angry as flashbacks came back to them when they inhale the Dark Gaia and their form started changing as their teeth got sharpen and their fingers grow claws out of their gloves. Then, their fur turned darker blue as the electricity that struck them earlier gave no effect on the hedgehog siblings as they turned into the most hideous creature no Mobians have ever seen as they let out a loud, horrifying howl.

"AAAAARRRRROOOOOOHHH!!!!"

Sonic and Y/N had turned into the Werewolf Hedgehogs or short term for Werehogs.

Their friends got up as the electricity stop striking them and looked to see Sonic and Y/N in their form as the electricity kept hitting them, but they kept on howling until they let out a growl and raised their arm that started to grow long and grabbed something from inside the tower which is the danger cannons and brought it out and tossed it towards the tower that brought out electricity. Everyone were speechless and hurried at what they're seeing, but the Egg Boss Thunderbolt couldn't care less as they shook out of their shock.

"Since when could they—? *Ahem!* Well? What are you waiting for? Attack!"

But the Egg Army couldn't move as they're completely scared of Sonic and Y/N who're glaring at them with their teeth bared.

"I SAID ATTACK!"

Before they could, Sonic and Y/N charged them, knocking them off ground as they ran towards the tower where Egg Boss Thunderbolt is as they jumped over to the werewolf hedgehog siblings.

"Fine, then! Come at me, you snarling—!"

They then punched through the robot with their bare fist, bringing the small yellow Mobian out of it as they fell to the ground. It revealed a female as she got up with rage.

"Y-You savages! Y-You'll p-pay for this humiliation! I'll—"

"RAAARGH!"

Sonic and Y/N chased after her, making her scream.

"AAAAAAH!"

"My poor Sonic! Poor Y/N! What's happened to them?!" Amy exclaimed, helping Sally up.

"It has to be a reaction to their exposure to the Dark Gaia energy. To think they've been enduring the poisoning for so long..."

"We have to stop them! Help them!"

"Of course, but... how?"

"You guys get the Chaos Emerald. I'll handle Sonic and Y/N." Mighty said, facing to where they had gone.

Meanwhile with Sonic and Y/N as they kept chasing after the Egg Boss Thunderbolt.

"Get away from me!"

They didn't listen as they tried to claw her off, which she barely dodged that. She turned to them as her body began to glow blue with electricity surrounding her body.

"You will—BACK OFF!"

She brought out a ball of electricity. Sonic and Y/N brought their arms up in a t-pose as the small animals ran away from behind them.

"RRRGH!" they grunted in pain as the electricity struck them.

"That's right, brutes! I have more power in my little finder than you have in your entire—!"

"ALL THE ANIMALS—!"

They must have protected those animals that happen to be there.

"Oh, what? You're worried about them? Defy me and they're all one giant barbecue! Beg for mercy, and I may—"

She was cut off by Sonic grabbed her whole body, nearly choking her and raised her up.

"RAAARGH!!"

Y/N goes to finish her off as Sonic handed it to her when Mighty tackled both of them to the ground.

"Sonic. Y/N. Listen to me. This isn't you. You don't do this. Yes, she tried to kill us all. That's unforgivable. But you saved us. You stopped her."

"SHE'S GETTING AWAY!" they growled out as Egg Boss Thunderbolt flee from this scene.

"She's beaten. We'll fight her another day. Right now, I need you two to bring it down a notch. I've been where you are. All that power, and too much wrong in the world... It's enough to drive anyone crazy." Mighty calmly said.

But Sonic and Y/N hear the complete opposite of Mighty as they're lost in the dark mind that the Dark Gaia gave them. They threw a punch at Mighty who quickly dodged that.

"YOU THINK YOU KNOW WHAT THIS IS?!"

"I meant—!"

They cut him off by knocking him off the ground high with their long arms.

"Listen! Control the rage, or it controls y—EURGH!"

They made Mighty into a ball like spin dash and tossed him away towards the tree, cutting it off as he fell to the ground after.

"Measured breaths, Mighty. They're your friends. They need help. Y/N needs me."

Mighty got up and began to charge them when they raise their long fist towards him when he grabbed both of them by their arm and strongly threw them against the ground as they crashed through the trees.

"The way Sally tells it, a lesser man would've been fully corrupted by now. But I know you two're strong enough to overcome this. Fight the urge. Stay down."

But they didn't listen to him again as they kept hearing the complete opposite of what Mighty said. Sally, Amy, and Ray soon came over.

"They're tearing the jungle apart!" Ray exclaimed at the mess.

"Oh, Sonic... Y/N... Why didn't you tell us...?" Amy frowned.

"There's nothing to be ashamed of—GRRK!"

Sonic and Y/N kicked Mighty away like a horse would do.

"WE'RE NOT ASHAMED OF ANYTHING!"

"We've got to do something!" Ray said.

"Okay—okay—okay—Think!" Sally said. "Sonic and Y/N always does what they think is right. The infection must be corrupting their perception. They think Mighty is in the wrong. So we'd need to... Ray, stop Mighty. Amy, follow my lead!"

Sally and Amy began to chase after Sonic and Y/N as they're fighting against Mighty about to give each other a blow when Amy, Sally, and Ray swooped in between them, stopping their fight.

"Ray—Move! I need to stop them before—!"

"You did stop them! They haven't moved from this spot! And now Sally has a plan... I think..."

"WHAT... WHAT ARE YOU...?" Sonic and Y/N growled at Sally and Amy.

"You two don't want to hurt him. I know it."

"Pleas stop! We love you!"

"You'll do what's right, no matter what. I know that. I respect that. And that's what I love you for, Sonic. And you're my best friend, Y/N." Sally said.

"Just please take a second to ask yourself if this is right." Amy said.

"When you told me you'd drive out Dr. Eggman and rescue my father on your own, I thought you were crazy. But you and Y/N did it. You won."

"You stood up to Perfect Chaos when we thought all hope was lost! You saved us by your guys' sheer, positive willpower!"

"You're our inspiration!" Ray added, facing them.

"We believe in you, Blue, Y/N." Mighty said.

"Please! Show that willpower again!"

"Or... fight the very friends you're trying to protect. It's your choice."

Sonic and Y/N stopped and looked at their hands.

"WE WERE TRYING TO... BUT WE WANTED..."

They covered their face and glanced at the jungle that were torn down by them. They then collapsed on the ground.

"There's our Sonic and Y/N!"

"Come on—We should get going before the Egg Army regroups."

Amy and Sally helped Sonic up while Mighty and Ray helped Y/N as they guide them back to Moss's home.

"...AND WE COULD HEAR MIGHTY, BUT..."

"EVERYTHING CAME ACROSS WRONG. LIKE HE WAS TRYING TO TICK US OFF..."

Moss pour Sonic and Y/N some drink in their bowl as they talk, looking down shamefully.

"Uncle Chuck told you to see a doctor! You could've listened to Y/N too!" Amy scolded at Sonic, glaring straight at him.

"YEAH! AND YOU KEPT TELLING ME NOT TO TELL THEM!" Y/N glared at Sonic.

"YOU'RE RIGHT! YOU'RE RIGHT, TOO, SIS! SORRY! I THOUGHT ME AND SIS HAD IT UNDER CONTROL... BUT WE DIDN'T. THANKS FOR KEEPING US IN CHECK, BIG MAN."

Mighty calmly sip his bowl.

"I slowed you two down, that's all. You took control of yourself. You kept your inner self up corrupted."

"YOU SOUND LIKE MOSS. THAT'S WEIRD COMING FROM YOU."

"I DON'T THINK IT'S WEIRD. IT SOUNDS VERY... CHARMING."

This made Mighty blush at Y/N's complement.

"Thanks, Y/N..."

"He has taken my lessons to heart. Here is another: new days..." Moss said, glancing at the window that began to sunrise. "...bring new beginnings."

Sonic and Y/N's body began to glow.

"Sonic?! Y/N?!"

Then, their werewolf form transformed back to their normal form.

"You two're back to normal!" Amy gasped, hugging Sonic.

"I... guess?"

Y/N said nothing, holding onto her arm in discomfort at what she had nearly done.

"Thank goodness. We'll get you two and the Chaos Emerald back to Sky Patrol, and then we'll start figuring out..." Sally said.

"...No." Sonic said, pulling away from Amy.

"Sorry, Sally." Y/N said, shaking her head.

"Whatever happened last night... It's going to happen again. We don't want to lose it on the Sky Patrol, when we're crammed in that winged box thousands of feet above the ground."

"We're staying here to get a handle of ourselves. And we're not leaving until we do. Until then, you guys may go and focus on you guys' mission. We'll meet you there when we're ready."

Sonic and Y/N look at each other then themselves as they feel a little scared of themselves.
