Chapter 9: In Need of Rescue

"Alright everyone, single file please," Kendo waved her hand towards her classmates as she stood near the open bus door.

"Quickly now," Monoma stood next to her, giving off an appearance of haughtiness as he tapped his foot impatiently. "We don't have all day you know. Get moving people or-URK!" He collapsed as Kendo deftly chopped him on the back of the neck. Kan-sensei only spared the boy a brief glance before resuming his stoic pose behind the class representatives. Toshinori merely shook his head while staring straight ahead.

Izuku glanced down at his crumpled body, concerned. "Uh, will he be alright?"

"Oh he'll be fine," Tokage assured him with a roll of her eyes as she pushed Izuku lightly in the back to get him aboard the bus. "He just needs a good knock on the head for when he gets too big for his britches."

"Uh, wasn't it his neck she chopped?"

"Same thing. It's kinda their thing. Now c'mon," Tokage urged the greenette onwards towards the back of the bus past all the side-facing seats. "Back of the bus is always more fun!"

Izuku found himself taking the window seat at the very back of the bus, with Tokage plopping down next to him. The rest of the students filed onto the bus, Kaibara taking the seat in front of them. Awase slid in next to him, giving the other boy a grin and a held up hand for a high five, only to be ignored as Kaibara turned his head towards the window. By the time Kendo came in dragging Monoma behind her, all the forward-facing seats had been filled, so she dumped Monoma unceremoniously on one of the side-facing seats in-between Shishida and Shoda before taking the seat across from him next to Fukidashi and Rin. Once Kan-sensei and Toshinori took the front-most seats reserved for them, the bus set off.

Everyone but Izuku were wearing their hero costumes, since his was still going through the process of being remade. He didn't mind wearing his gym uniform, so it wasn't a big issue. He'd be happy when he finally got to wear his new costume though.

"So where do you think we're going?" Tokage leaned sideways into the aisle to get a view out the front of the bus.

"Well, Kan-sensei did say it was an off-campus training site," Izuku reminded her. "But it can't be too far. I'd imagine quite a big facility if it pertains to rescuing. Kan-sensei mentioned a shipwreck and rock slide scenarios, so it would have to be a big, controlled environment."

Tokage nodded. "That makes sense."

"With your quirk, I'm sure you'll do great at rescue training," Izuku told her excitedly. "You can scout out difficult terrain with ease and slip into small places!"

"Aw Mumbles, you'll make me blush with all that praise," Tokage grinned slyly at him, prompting the boy to fumble with his words.

"Please do not tease the poor boy," Shiozaki said from where she sat across from them next to Kodai. "It's not very nice."

"Isn't calling him 'poor boy' demeaning?" Tokage asked cheekily.

Shiozaki blinked at her before turning her head to face forwards and bringing her hands up in prayer. "You are quite right. Forgive me, Midoriya, I was wrong to talk about you like that."

"N-no, i-it's quite alright," Izuku told her sheepishly.

"Oi, Set!" Kendo called from her seat. "Behave!"

"You don't even know what I'm doing!" Tokage called back to her as she stood shaking her fist at her before falling back on her seat, laughing. It was a few minutes before she spoke again, turning Izuku's attention away from the window. "Hey, uh, Midoriya? I got a question for you."

"Huh?" He blinked at her. "What is it?"

She rubbed the back of her head and Izuku noted that she looked... embarrassed. He's only known her this week, but already he could tell this wasn't a common expression of hers. "I hope I'm not crossing any lines when teasing you. I mean it all in good fun, but uh..." she shrugged. "Given your whole history with Bakugou, I guess I may come off as rude. Sorry, Midoriya."

"No no," Izuku shook his hands at her. "You're fine, trust me! I mean, well..." he scratched at his cheek. "It's just light hearted teasing. Yeah, I may react super embarrassed and all that, but- but I don't mind it. Because..." he smiled at her. "Because it feels like something friends do with one another. And it's never felt like anything Kacchan's said to me before."

Tokage stared at him, mouth open a little. Izuku glanced away, feeling all of a sudden nervous before Awase broke the awkward silence by turning around in his seat and telling them, "Getting chummy back here aren't you."

Tokage flicked him in the head with her floating hand before turning to Izuku. "Well... I guess if you really don't mind it then."

"I don't," Izuku confirmed, and he meant it.

Tokage gave a wide shark-toothed grin. "Well then, I look forward to teasing you to hell and back, Mumbles."

"I think we're here!"

The shout from up front drew everyone's attention to the windows, with Tokage leaning over Izuku to stick her face up close to the window, squishing her cheeks against the glass to get a better look. Izuku found himself trying to sink as far back into his seat as he could, face turning very red as Tokage leaned over him.

TOO- TOO CLOSE! He screamed internally.

"Yo, check this place out," Tokage whistled appreciatively, moving back to let Izuku see. He peered out, eyes going wide at the size of the domed building they were approaching.

"Neito, we're here," Kendo bonked the blond on the head, startling him away as he jerked upright in his seat. "Help make sure everyone gets off safely."

"How did we get here?" He asked blankly.

Kendo rolled her eyes as she pushed him up once the bus came to a stop. "Just help everyone off." She was the last off the bus, following behind Izuku and Tokage. Izuku took in another breath as he stood before the ginormous building.

"Welcome everyone," a woman's voice called out from the entrance. "To the Unforeseen Simulation Joint!"

A person wearing a spacesuit walked towards them from the entrance. Izuku's eyes nearly bugged out of his head the moment he saw her. "It's the Space Hero: Thirteen!"

"Hah hah," the pro laughed as she came to a stop in front of the class. "I'm glad to be recognized. Now come on inside and you can see what today's agenda will be all about." The entire class followed her eagerly inside, and the moment they stepped over the threshold, their breaths were taken away.

"We have a fire zone," Thirteen pointed out a red domed area decorated with flames. "A downpour, flood, mountain, landslide, and ruins. This is where you will be trained in various rescue scenarios over your time here at UA. But first, there's something I like to remind every new student." She held up her hand and Izuku got a good look at the caps covering her finger tips. "Many of you might know of my quirk; Black Hole."

"Oh!" Izuku practically jumped at the opportunity, completely oblivious to Tokage sniggering behind his back while Kendo raised her hand at her threateningly, but she too was smiling and shaking her head a little. "You have a powerful black hole at the tips of your fingers, and anything sucked into it will disintegrate into dust! You've saved tons of people with your quirk!"

"I have," Thirteen nodded. "But have you stopped to think about how easy it would be to kill with my quirk?"

That silenced any burning questions Izuku had for the pro, and shut up the rest of his class, who had been talking in murmurs. Now Thirteen had their undivided attention.

"Some of you have powerful quirks if used a certain way, could kill," she went on. "And for others it's easier than most. There's a reason why quirks are strictly regulated, as one false move or if you don't think, your power can be deadly. But because of the strict regulations, we can often forget just how dangerous they can be. The fitness test and the battle trials you all went through should have given you a good idea where you're at strength wise and how your quirks measure up against others. For rescue operations you need to be extra cautious when using your quirks. If you're not careful, you could end up hurting the very people you are trying to save."

Thirteen clapped her hand together at the end of her speech. "Now with all that out of the way, let's get straight to business. Vlad, All Might, should we have them try their hand at the Downpour Zone?"

"Sounds fine to me," Toshinori replied.

"Hmm," Kan-sensei rubbed his chin in thought. He turned his intense gaze on his class, making them freeze. "Listen up, Class 1A did the Downpour Zone yesterday, and from Aizawa's report they did quite well for their first time overall. So I expect the best from each and every one of you!"

"Yes sir!" The class mock saluted him.

Kan-sensei nodded proudly before turning away so they couldn't see his smile.

"Follow me, everyone," Thirteen began descending the stairs that led to the central plaza. "We'll be heading over to the blue dome. Hope you came prepared to get wet."

Some groans came from around Izuku. Tokage sighed beside him. "Man, this will be a pain. I hate drying my hair."

"At least you got full body coverage," Kendo held out her arms, which like her legs, didn't have any covering. "It's gonna be cold."

"Do you know how much of a pain it is to wash this costume," Monoma complained, dragging his feet.

Izuku was practically bouncing on the balls of his feet. He didn't have total control yet, but maybe he had just enough to be able to do well in this exercise. The class talked amongst themselves as the teachers led them from the front, nearing the gate to the Downpour Zone. Izuku was busy thinking about how he could retain control when suddenly the ground jerked beneath him. He let out a surprised yelp as confused yells rang out before being replaced by the sound of rushing air as he found himself in freefall.

...

Landslide Zone

CRAP CRAP CRAP WHAT'S HAPPENING!? He tried reining in his panicked thoughts as he saw the sloped ground closing in on him fast. In the very few seconds he had before impact, his mind went into overdrive. Two things stood out to him. First, he could see someone in his peripheral vision falling just to the side of him, and another person out of his vision screaming, "FUUUUUUUUUU-!". Second, if he wanted to save himself, and whoever else was falling with him, he would need to create enough wind pressure to cushion their fall taking the distance between them into account.

This is going to hurt! He had time to think as he summoned One For All. TEXAS-!

"BOOOOOOOOUNCE!!" a voice shouted to his left and large kanji for the word slammed into the ground, rippling it. Izuku was caught off guard and One For All fizzled out. But when he hit the ground, instead of splatting on impact, he bounced. He flew back up into the air with a shriek before falling and bouncing again. After the third bounce, he managed to settle on the soft earth.

He stared skywards for a moment, trying to catch his breath as he tried to figure out what was wrong with the sky. He blinked. It was distorted, as if different parts of the background had mixed together. Then with a rippling effect, it smoothed out, as if it had never been there.

Shaking himself from his stupor, he sat up, the ground now hard once more, glancing around. To his left he saw Fukidashi, the source of their safe landing thanks to his quirk, getting on his hands and knees, several sweat marks covering his speech bubble head. A groan to his right had his head swivel to see Awase muttering curses beneath his breath. Just beyond him was Kodai getting unsteadily to her feet.

"What the hell happened?" Awase groaned as he tried standing, only to fall over again.

"I don't know," Izuku glanced back at the sky. "I'm guessing some sort of teleportation quirk?"

"We were just walking, then WHAM we're going all WHOOSH and nearly SPLAT!" Fukidashi waved his arms around in emphasis, his speech bubble switching from one onomatopoeia to the next.

Kodai didn't say a word, just rubbed her arm as she walked over to join them. Izuku glanced around again. They sat on the side of a hill. Well, it was more accurate to say the aftermath of a landslide. Parts of buildings, cars, and trees stuck out from the dirt. They were still inside the USJ, which meant this was the landslide zone Thirteen had mentioned.

"Do you think they tricked us?" Awase frowned.

"No, I don't think so," Izuku said, feeling apprehensive for a reason he couldn't name. "Something about this doesn't feel right. I mean, if it hadn't been for Fukidashi's quick thinking, we'd be dead."

Awase blinked, realization dawning on his face. Fukidashi wrung his fingers together, glanced at the sky, then gulped. Kodai's expression twitched, but remained neutral. Her eyes, however, betrayed the worry she was feeling.

"Plus, nobody here is able to use a teleportation quirk," Izuku palmed his mouth. "It can't be part of the exercise, I don't think Kan-sensei would trick us like that. And it doesn't look like any of our classmates ended up here either."

"What does that mean then?" Awase asked.

"This wasn't supposed to happen," Izuku lowered his hand, a horrifying thought creeping up on him. "And if no one at UA used that quirk, then that could only mean-"

"Well aren't you a smart cookie."

The four of them all whirled around, an exclamation mark popping up over Fukidashi. There, squatting atop the edge of a building sticking out from the dirt, was someone in jeans and a black hoodie. They were too far up for Izuku to get any impression of them aside from their black face mask and that the sound of their voice indicated they were a woman.

"Would you look at you all," she practically cooed. "Fledgling heroes, the lot of you. So precious. So... innocent. " She cackled. "I wonder just how well you'll fare against the real world."

"Who the fuck are you!?" Awase demanded, raising a fist at her.

"Villains," Izuku said, the realization having dawned on him moments before. "Villains are attacking us."

"But-" Awase's next words were cut off when the very earth shook beneath them followed by a loud impact noise. The group stumbled and Izuku turned around, looking out past the landslide towards the plaza. He could just make out Toshinori, no, All Might, laying on the ground as someone approached him. He raised his gaze, eyes widening as he stared at the flood zone, where a massive storm was forming, lightning arcing into the water.

"Looks like it's starting," the unknown villain rose to her feet, staring down at them. "Now then, itty bitty heroes in the making." She raised both hands, palms facing each other as her aqua blue eyes glittered with excitement. "Show me what you're made of!" She brought her hands together and the resulting noise was like a thunderclap, the sound blasting them off their feet as they went tumbling down the slope.

...

Mountain Zone

Setsuna blinked. In that time it took for her to close her eyes and reopen them she found herself falling through the air above the mountain zone, far away from the central plaza. "The crap?" She disconnected her torso, activating her flight. Two screams alerted her to the fact that two of her classmates were now hurtling to their doom.

"I did not think we were gonna have to save each other for the exercise!" She yelled as she flung out both arms towards Rin and Bondo. She grabbed them by the shirt collars and immediately let out a shout at the weight. She gritted her teeth, doing her best to try and lower them, but after a few seconds her strength gave and they fell. Luckily they'd lost their earlier momentum and she'd managed to get them close to a flat edge on the side of the mountain. She flew over, reconnecting her body as she rubbed her arms.

"Ow ow ow," she griped. "You're a lot heavier than you look. And I'm not talking about Bondo."

"Thanks, Tokage," Rin gasped out, on his hands and knees. "That could've been a lot worse."

"W-what ha-happened?" Bondo stuttered, getting to his feet and looking around nervously.

"Maybe the exercise started already?" Setsuna rubbed the back of her head as she turned a full 360. They were in the middle of the mountain zone, so they couldn't see towards the central plaza. "Thought we were doing the downpour zone. Give me a sec, I'm going up to get a better look." She disconnected her head from her shoulders and zoomed on upwards. Once she cleared the shortest mountain's peak, she got a good view of the plaza.

Her eyes widened as she saw All Might, all buffed up, launching himself at someone. All she got was a glimpse of red energy before suddenly her body jerked below and her senses registered pain before her vision went black.

...

Conflagration Zone

Itsuka yelped as something wrapped around her waist and stopped her fall. She blinked and glanced at it. It was one of Shiozaki's vines. She was lowered slowly and settled on the ground near the other girl, who shrieked as some of her vines detached from her head. She quickly patted her head frantically and breathed a sigh of relief. Looking around at where they were, Itsuka could easily guess what had happened.

The Fire Zone consisted of a city on fire, flames dancing on the edges of the street and raging out of windows. She watched as Shiozaki's detached vines burnt to a crisp.

"Wh-what happened, shroom?" Komori gripped the front of her skirt.

"I... I don't know," Itsuka was confused. What the heck had happened. One moment they were in the plaza, then they were here.

"Uh..." Kuroiro's voice sounded from her right. He was pointing down the street. "Who are they?"

Itsuka squinted. All the smoke was making it hard to see, but three figures were approaching. The one on the left seemed to be hovering. Then they and the one on the right moved to the side, leaving the figure in the middle alone as they fell to their knees. Itsuka watched in a mix of fascination and horror as their body jerked and began to change shape. Their arms stretched out into wings as their body became much larger.

"Holy hell," Itsuka breathed and Shiozaki was too shocked to berate her for her choice of words as the image of a gigantic bird stood outlined by the smoke.

...

Flood Zone

SPLASH

"GAH!" Tetsutetsu broke the surface of the water. "WHAT THE HELL!?"

Tsuburaba emerged next to him, spitting out water. "I thought we were going to the downpour zone, not the swimming pool!?"

"Flood," Yanagi said from above where she hovered using her quirk on herself. "This is the flood zone, not a swimming pool."

"But what are we doing here!?" Tetsutetsu demanded. "Are we starting the rescue training now!? Who are we rescuing? I'll rescue them in a flash, just you watch me!"

"Well, that would be rather difficult now wouldn't it."

"Huh? Who said that?" Tetsutetsu turned around in the water to see a girl hovering above them, higher than Yanagi, as she sat cross legged in the air. Blonde hair stuck out from her gray hood, brown eyes surveying the three of them.

"How could you possibly save anyone?" She spoke through her mask as if Tetsutetsu hadn't said anything, raising her left hand. Storm clouds began to gather above. "When you're too busy trying to save yourselves?"

...

Downpour Zone

Shishida crashed to the ground, the impact knocking Honenuki and Shoda from his arms. Honenuki rolled and came to a stop on his back, taking a moment to catch his breath as the torrent instantly soaked him. He watched as Kamakiri slowed his fall by digging a blade from his arm into one of the buildings, before leaping to the ground.

"Are we starting?" He growled, glancing around. "Where's everyone else?"

"Not here by the looks of it," Shishida was helping Shoda to his feet. "Sorry about the rough landing, you two."

"I'm good," Shoda assured him.

"Yeah, same here," Honenuki groaned as he sat up. "How did we end up here though? Did they teleport us?"

"Define 'they'."

Honenuki glanced to the side, expecting to see a classmate, but instead gazed upon someone wearing an oversized yellow raincoat. Scratch that. Three someones, all in the same outfit. The hoods were large enough and there wasn't enough lighting to make out their features. But the one who'd spoken was definitely male.

"Sorry to drop in on you all like this," he said with an exaggerated shrug. "Well, you're the only ones doing the dropping so far." He laughed. "Let's see if we can keep that trend going!"

...

Landslide Zone

"GAH!" Izuku tumbled down the slope, trying to slow his momentum by digging into the dirt. He managed to come to a stop, Kodai about to fall past him. He swung and grabbed onto her arm.

"Thanks," she gasped, her normal expressionless demeanor gone as she stared wide-eyed up the slope.

Izuku looked back after hearing a string of curses and saw Awase and Fukidashi having grabbed onto some branches sticking out of the ground.

"C'mon fledgling heroes!" The villain catcalled, strolling down towards them. "What, not going to fight back? Oh right, you guys have rules ! You can't hurt people, not even villains! Man, doesn't that just suck!?" She raised a foot, slamming it on the earth, releasing another sonic blast that threatened to send him further down the hill, but he dug in his hand and feet, refusing to let go of either the ground or Kodai.

"Fuck this!" Awase cursed. "Why the hell are villains attacking us!? What beef do you have with us!?"

"Oh that's rich !" The girl laughed loudly. "No no, sorry, I shouldn't be laughing at the ignorant." She was silent for a moment before she burst out laughing again. "Yeah, no, you all are so going to die now! What beef did you ask we have with you all!?" Her eyes narrowed and suddenly her tone and demeanor changed in an instant. "Who the hell do you think you are, asking that as if you don't know!? Fucking die hero student!" She went to slam her fist down on the ground, but Izuku was ready. While Awase had distracted her, he used that time to try and channel One For All to a level where it wouldn't hurt him.

"DELAWARE SMASH!"

With a flick of his left fingers, a blast of air shot forwards, ripping up the ground and slamming into the villain, knocking her up the slope and slamming into the side of an exposed building. Kodai stared at him in amazement and even Awase had shut up. Izuku stood, flexing his hand, amazed that his fingers only throbbed and nothing more. He was starting to get the hang of this.

"Maybe we aren't legally allowed to harm you," Izuku lifted his gaze from his fingers, curling both hands into fists. "But I'm not about to let you harm my classmates!"

"Ugh," the woman lifted herself from the ground, holding her head, her hood having slipped off, her mask hanging by only one ear. Izuku's eyes widened.

The villain cursed, placing her mask back on, but left her hoodie down, her medium length black hair flowing down just past her shoulders in a bob cut. "Damn, that was something. Guess you do have some fight in you after all. I guess I should call for reinforcements then, huh?" She cracked her neck once and snapped her fingers with a slightly less loud sonic boom. As she spoke again, three people appeared over the rise. "I hope you still have some fire left in you, fledglings. Because now we aren't going to hold back!"

...

Mountain Zone

"Wha-?" Setsuna's body ached. When had she reattached her head? No wait, she hadn't. She blinked and quickly stopped her head midair before it hit the ground. She looked down and almost went to rub her eyes before remembering she left her hands with the rest of her body. The body that was currently laying against the side of the mountain after having been tossed by the looks of it.

"So that's why I'm in pain," she chuckled weakly, staring down at the mass of green crystals jutting out from the ground, which had certainly not been there moments before. Bondo was clambering to his feet, while Rin moved towards her body, glancing around in a panic.

Zooming down, she plopped her head back on her body and groaned, rubbing her back as she stood. "What even happened in those few seconds I left you boys alone?"

"These crystals appeared out of nowhere," Rin said, scanning the area. "They were heading right for you, so Bondo pushed your body out of the way."

"Thanks big guy," Setsuna nodded to Bondo. "Also, bad news. From the looks of it, we're being attacked by villains." At their sudden glances at her, she finished with, "I saw All Might fighting some villain."

"So that's what that shock wave was," Rin muttered worriedly. "Do you think-"

Something whistled just past their heads, slamming into the rock face behind them with tremendous force. Shattered rocks pelted their backs and Setsuna immediately pulled Rin down behind the cover of crystals, ushering Bondo to join them.

"They're targeting us for sure," Setsuna glanced out from behind the crystal, trying to spot whoever was throwing stuff at them, but quickly whipped her head back. Just in time too, as part of the crystal shattered as something exploded against it.

"We need a plan," Setsuna said after a moment of heavy breathing.

"You want to fight them!?" Rin whipped his head around.

"What other choice do we have?" She snapped. "They teleported us here, away from all our other classmates. And where do you think they are? It's more than likely the villains are attacking all of us. We don't really have a choice in the matter here. It's either let them kill us or fight back."

Rin stared at her for a few moments before shaking his head. "When you put it like that... Alright, fine. I'm in."

Setsuna turned to their other classmate. "Bondo?"

Bondo wrung his oversized hands, but gave a shaky nod.

Setsuna took a breath. "Alright. Rin, I need you to shoot in the direction I tell you to. When you do that, I'll fly around the mountainside and try to ambush them. I probably won't be able to take them down by myself, so I'll be another distraction while you," she pointed to Bondo. "Hit them with your glue." When both boys nodded, she took a deep breath, and went to peek out again. And that's when the ground erupted beneath them.

...

Conflagration Zone

The humongous bird took flight, clearing away the smoke with a single beat of its wings. Itsuka enlarged her fists, grabbing Kuroiro and Komori in one hand and Shiozaki in the other before running towards the nearest building. The bird swooped past, turning as it followed their movements and stopped, talons digging into the pavement. Itsuka caught a glimpse of its scarlet and golden plumage before rushing through the building's doorway.

"What was that!?" Shiozaki looked on the verge of a panic attack, an odd sight of the normally composed religious girl.

"Whoever they were, they're obviously not friendly," Itsuka said, not stopping until she'd found the back exit. Thankfully these buildings were pretty bare of decorations, so finding it wasn't hard.

"Why didn't we stay inside!?" Shiozaki demanded as soon as Itsuka let the three of them down.

"I don't know about you, but I don't fancy getting trapped inside while there's an unknown enemy after us," Itsuka wiped her brow. All this heat was exhausting. How real was this fire? "That bird looked like it could take the building down with us in it. We should keep moving-!" A grunt escaped her lips as something blasted against her, making her fly backwards into the building, taking the door off its hinges in the process.

"Kendo!" Komori shouted, rushing after her while Shiozaki and Kuroiro turned to see someone hovering above them. Even with the cloak they were wearing, they possessed some sort of mutant quirk, if their insect-like clawed hands, buzzing wings, and glowing abdomen were anything to go by.

Their abdomen began to glow harsher, energy traveling up their body and transferring to their hands, which they blasted out in twin beams of energy. Shiozaki threw up a shield up vines, crying out when the rays hit them, lighting them aflame.

"We did our research," A voice said behind them. Shiozaki and Kuroiro looked to see another cloaked individual standing behind them, standing between them and Itsuka and Komori. He lifted a hand, placing it against the top of the doorway. The cement began to melt, bubbling and hissing as it dripped down, spreading along both sides of the wall. "Why do you think you and the mushroom girl were sent here? This is the optimal environment for us, and the worst setting possible for you."

A loud crash came from above and both Shiozaki and Kuroiro looked up to see the large bird perched amongst the flames atop the roof. It screeched loudly, flames bursting along its feathers as its eyes narrowed down at them.

"It's time for a lesson," the villain said, holding a glob of melted cement. "Pay attention now, this will be on the test. This is what happens when you are so out of your depth that your past achievements and your quirk mean nothing in the face of an adversary that has already planned ahead. Think of it as a game of chess. And this," they couldn't see it, but they could hear his grin. "This is checkmate."

...

Flood Zone

"FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK!" Tetsutetsu swam as fast as he could, Tsuburaba having pulled himself out of the water and was blowing an air platform to run on with Yanagi right behind him. Tetsutetsu looked back at the villain hovering in the middle of the brewing storm, eyes going wide as a tempest blew around her, churning up the waves. Then, as if the water had a mind of its own, began swirling and growing in size.

"OH SHI-!"

The wave crashed into his back and carried him across the flooded zone, slamming into the large boat. He gritted his teeth, digging his iron fingers into the side, clawing his way up. He broke through the water, gasping as he turned around, looking for his classmates. There, landing on the ship.

Yanagi must have used her quirk to get them up there safely, he thought, continuing his climb. A flash of sudden bright light and the clap of thunder made him freeze. If there was one thing he knew he was resistant to, it was lightning. But with all the water, it was dangerous for him to keep his steel activated around his classmates.

"JUST GREAT!" He shouted from the top of his lungs, urging himself to climb faster. Once he cleared the railing, he deactivated his quirk. "What the hell is up with this storm!? That's a stupidly powerful quirk! And she can control the water to boot!"

"I think she's toying with us," Yanagi voiced. "With all that power, she could have taken us down in an instant. It is not luck that we made it here, but her choice in allowing us too."

"Huh?" Tetsutetsu blinked. "But why do that?"

"Stormy over there can't have all the fun, that's why."

Tetsutetsu didn't even have time to speak before his mouth filled with water as he was blasted by the stuff, his back slamming into the ship's railing alongside his two classmates. He sputtered, glaring up at the person standing atop the ship's cabin. Dark clouds swirled around them, blocking their body from view, along with a stream of water floating around them in the air.

"Our quirks make for the perfect combination," they said, their voice coming out all crackly and indistinguishable from male or female. "That's not a luxury we gave any of you. We have the advantage here. And we plan on using it to its fullest extent. Just try and fight back." Their arms spread out, the dark clouds still concealing their form as the water stretched from one end to the other. "It'll make it all the more pleasing when we send the lot of you to a watery grave."

...

Downpour Zone

Honenuki made to move, but suddenly he was yanked by the back of his armor and the world around him became a blur before he became motionless. He crashed through a window and slammed into a counter. He groaned, his stomach not feeling so great.

Glass crunched behind him and he turned to see the raincoat wearing villain standing over him. "Stomach feeling upset? Sorry, I'm not giving you any time to recover." Before Honenuki could resist, his armor was grabbed and the world became a blur again. This time he managed to connect what was happening. The villain leaped from the window and sped along the street, moving so fast that they went several streets before Honenuki was tossed once again, this time into several trash cans.

He fought the urge to retch as he heard faint crashing sounds, the noise muffled by the severity of the rain.

"You're not putting up much of a fight, man," the villain said with a shake of his head. "I know I'm fast and all, but give me something to work with. I do love it when you peasants try to act all high and mighty, only to be crushed beneath the heels of someone like myself." He planted his shoe on the side of Honenuki's helmet. "So please, by all means, show me what you think you are worth! It would give me the greatest pleasure showing you how wrong you are!"

The immediate disappearance of his student's chatter followed by cut off screams was all Toshinori heard before whirling around to find that every single student had just vanished, the air above the ground where they'd been rippling in various spots before clearing up. He was speechless. What just happened?

"Lose something?" a voice asked, the tone female.

Sitting atop the blue wall outside the Downpour Zone dome was someone wearing a gray hoodie and black face mask. Beside her stood a cloaked figure, hands glowing with light.

"What have you done to my students!?" Vlad King growled, fists clenched, blood at the ready.

"Oh, they're around," the one speaking waved her hand lazily. "My friend here sent them off to have fun with our comrades at the various locales here. We can't have them in our way. They may just be first-year students, but if we allowed them to stay, they could end up being a nuisance I'd rather not deal with." She stood, brushing at her pants. "Whether they live or die is up in the air. In my opinion, it would be a mercy killing them. The world doesn't need anymore 'heroes'."

"You will return my students at once," blood erupted from Vlad King's gauntlets, hardening into spikes.

Thirteen held up her hand, ready to click open the latches on her fingertips. "Be warned, villains, we will do what we must to take you down and save them."

"You two handle them, I'll go save the students," Toshinori said, turning around and running, bulking up into his muscle form, thankful he hadn't used up any of his time today. But just as he was about to make a leap towards the ruins, only to have his feet fall out from beneath him. He had time to realize he was now falling and spin around midair, only to see a fist alight with red energy shooting for him. He raised his arms in defense, but even with One For All at half power, the impact was enough to knock his breath away and send him careening backwards, skidding over the ground before crashing into the staircase leading up to the central fountain.

He lifted his gaze to see Vlad King and Thirteen get blasted back by a beam of light, the cloaked villain leaping after them. The one in the hoodie hopped off the wall, strolling towards him.

"The great hero, All Might," she spoke, the red energy fading around her. "Former Number 1 and Symbol of Peace and Justice to all. You were a great hero. You are a great hero. That much I can tell. That is why I am sorry. I, we , need to send a message. A message that things are changing. And killing you will be the best way to send that message."

She was close enough now that he could make out her eyes. Soft, electric blue. There was pity in those eyes. But there was something else about her facial features that set off alarm bells in his mind.

"You certainly got the jump on me, I'll give you that," All Might said, getting to his feet, the rubble sliding off him. "But I've faced stronger villains than you. And if it means saving my students, I won't hold back."

"I wouldn't want you to," she stopped, hands shoved in her pockets. "You are of a rare sort. Stain, for all his madness, was right about heroes. There are so many fakes. And I will not allow for any more of those kinds of heroes to be made. Let what happens this day be a message to all that the time of heroes is coming to an end. We shall no longer stand idly by as heroes do as they please. One day, we will bring about an end to hero society."

"You talk a big game, miss," All Might narrowed his eyes. "I can't tell you how many times I have heard those words. So long as I am standing, that will not come to pass!" He moved in a blur, fist raised to knock her back with wind pressure, but she moved faster than anticipated, striking his middle with her own fist. The resulting shockwave shook the entire USJ and blasted him backwards once again. This time he crashed into the fountain, groaning as water poured over him.

"I'm truly sorry," the villain said, and he was almost certain she meant it. The red energy was back to arcing off her like lightning, charring the ground around her. "But I am not someone you will be able to beat. If it was the other two, they might've stood a chance. But not you. Especially not you." She stood over him, fist raised as the energy surrounding it crackled dangerously. "Goodbye, All Might."

Ruins Zone

Neito scrambled back against the ruined wall as he watched Kaibara fall, the hooded individual casually stepping over his body as they flicked away a green rose.

"Well well, Neito. Looks like you did get into UA," a sickly sweet voice spoke from beneath the hood. It was pushed back and Neito's eyes widened. He found himself rooted to the spot in growing horror as he stared at the very familiar face. "I should congratulate you," Ureha Ueno said, her eyes wide with absolute delight as she wore a devilish grin. "You filthy copycat!"
