Money In The Bank had arrived and Matt was laser focused on what was at stake tonight. Should he and Braun become tag champions in the ladder match, then Shane McMahon would be fired from WWE. And backstage, he and Braun were going through some last minute preparations.

Matt: Here goes... Our chance to rid Shane from WWE once and for all.

Braun: Yeah, it's not often you get the chance to end someone's career. Where's Leah and Amy tonight, anyway?

Matt: Well, since she got pregnant, Leah's not been feeling 100% so I told her to take it easy and look after Amy. Not gonna lie, it feels odd not having the two around.

Braun: Relax, they'll be okay. And you just wait till after tonight, then you can leave here a champion and show off the belt to them.

Matt: True...

Just then there was a knock at the door. It was a stagehand, who had a message and a cameraman waiting behind him.

Stagehand: Hey, Matt. I was told to give this to you, it popped up in Hunter's mail by mistake.

Matt: Oh, okay. Thanks, man.

He cautiously opened the note which said:

You and Leah may be a thing now, but rest assured, by the night is out, you two will go from A thing to NO-thing. Want a clue to who I am?

Braun: Well, that isn't weird at all.

Matt: Someone in the women's division wants my attention. The question is... who?

As the cameras cut, the two thought about who could the note be from.

Braun: Well, let's think about this. In the women's MITB match, we've got Sasha, Nattie and Nikki...

Matt: Allof whom are married already...

Braun: Lana...

Matt: No way.

Braun: Shayna, Sarah...

Matt: Neither of them are my type...

Braun: Then that just leaves Naomi and Mandy.

Matt: It must be Mandy.

Braun: You could be right... But right now, it can wait. We're up second and the pre-show is nearly done.

Matt: Shoot, yeah!

After Gallows and Anderson knocked off the Viking Raiders to face the Raw Tag Team Champions of Rey Mysterio and Humberto Carillo on Raw the next night, the PPV was now underway, and with Bayley successfully defending her title against Naomi and Lacey, it was now time for the career defining match. Braun and Matt went out first to a decent pop, especially when Matt lifted his hood from his bodywarmer. While the two headed to the ring, both Leah and Amy were watching from home, both dressed in their dressing gowns, with Amy cuddling up to her mum, as she called Leah now.

Leah: You excited to watch Dad win tonight?

Amy: Yeah, Daddy and big strong man will win!

Leah just stifled a laugh as to what Amy called Braun. The two watched as Shane and Elias made their entrance, the latter with his trademark guitar in hand. But Braun and Matt wouldn't wait, as the two went charging at Shane and Elias with a ladder, and the champs were sent tumbling. Braun then threw Shane in the ring, and left him at Matt's feet. He unleashed on the so called Best In The World with everything he had, including a sunset flip powerbomb onto a ladder. Meanwhile, Braun kept Elias out of the picture by placing him in between the rungs of another ladder, basically trapping him. This then left Shane on his own to save his career.

Matt: You're dead...

Shane tried to run but ran straight into Braun. He tried to plead his innocence but then he kicked Matt in the balls and then did the same to Braun. Both of them were down, and Shane then climbed to the top to hit the Coast to Coast, positioning a ladder between the ropes and Matt.

Leah: I can't watch...

Amy: Daddy, no!!!

As Shane was about to jump, the arena went pitch black, and when the lights came back on, there stood a face that shocked absolutely everyone... Josh Edwards. He stared a hole straight through Shane, and as Shane jumped from the top, Josh caught him and chokeslammed him so hard, he was driven straight through the ring. Elias had somehow managed to free himself and tried to help, but Josh saw it coming and immediately trapped him in the Kimura Lock, twisting Elias' arm so far back, he very nearly broke it. And just to make absolutely sure that Elias was out of the picture, he then powerbombed Elias through two ladders, the top one breaking in half.

Leah: Whoa... That was insane, right Ames?

Amy didn't respond, she just had a big smile on her face, thanks to the man who helped her dad.

Josh: This is your time, man! Do it!

Josh pulled Matt up and set up another ladder in the middle of the ring, and very gingerly, Matt made his way up rung by rung, until he was at the top and pulled down the tag title belts.

Greg: Here are your winners, and the NEWWW Smackdown Tag Team Champions, Braun Strowman and Matt Watkins!

And as he fell back down the ladder, Matt realised what this meant. Not only had he won his first belt in WWE, but he put an end to Shane McMahon's career in WWE. Braun and Josh lifted him up onto their shoulders in celebration as he proudly held his tag title belt. He then saw that Shane was crawling up out of the hole that was made in the ring when Josh chokeslammed him. Braun, however, wasn't having it. He gave Shane a running powerslam for his troubles, leaving him motionless. The 3 men stood above their victim, almost like the Shield, and Matt had a few last words to give Shane.

Matt: Hey, guys, guess what? We won the titles!

The roar of approval was almost deafening from the WWE Universe.

Braun: And you know what that means?

Josh: Shane McMahon...

Matt, Braun & Josh: YOU'RE FIRRRED!!!

Braun and Matt held up their tag titles, while Josh soaked up the reception from the crowd as all three of them headed back for an interview.

McKenzie: Braun and Matt, you two are now the new Smackdown Tag Team Champions, and have ended Shane McMahon's career in WWE, how do you feel?

Matt: Just... amazing. It's like Braun said before the match,  it's not every day you get to end someone's career, and now, I feel like the bug has finally been squashed and has been rid of.

Braun: Matt hit the nail on the head. We looked down and out until this guy right here...

He patted Josh on the back.

Braun: ...literally came from nowhere and gave us a helping hand.

McKenzie: Josh, after months of speculation, you have finally arrived here in WWE, so what exactly do you want to accomplish?

Josh: Titles and success. I think that pretty much sums it up. I'm sure that together with these guys, we will make a formidable force. So this is a message to the whole Smackdown roster. You guys better sleep with one eye open, for us three plan to tear it up.

McKenzie: Just one last thing, before your match, we saw a note from a mystery woman delivered to you, Matt. Any ideas as to who it could be from?

Matt: Well, I have my suspicions, but I can't be sure... That's all I'm saying.

The three then went their separate ways, and after Matt had a shower, he FaceTimed Leah and Amy.

Matt: Hey guys!

Amy: Daddy! YOU WON!

Leah: She's been like that since you pulled down the belts. You okay after that match?

Matt: Yeah. Just a few minor bruises, but nothing to be majorly concerned about.

He then held up the mystery note to the camera.

Matt: This, on the other hand, is.

Leah: Who do you think it's from?

Matt: It could be anyone. Alexa, Sasha, maybe even Pamela, but to be honest, only one woman kinda fits in to do something like this... Mandy.

Leah: That woman, I swear she does anything to get her way... Need me to come down there and sort her out?

Matt: No need, she's in the women's MITB match, which is up next, so we'll see. I'll talk to you later!

Leah: Bye, babe. We love you!

Amy: Love you, Daddy!

Matt: Bye, girls!

He hung up the call just as the 8 woman ladder match got underway between a returning Liv Morgan, Natalya, Charlotte, Sarah Logan, Alexa, Lacey, Naomi and Mandy. Some of the highlights included Natalya locking the Sharpshooter on Charlotte with a ladder in between, increasing the pain for the Queen, Lacey performing a moonsault from the top of the ladder on Alexa and Naomi, and Liv spinning around with a ladder in her hands, taking out pretty much everyone. Then in the conclusion of the match, Liv and Sarah were face to face at the top of the ladder, punching one another, when Mandy came into the ring after Charlotte speared her through the barricade earlier in the match, and pushed the ladder over, toppling Liv and Sarah out of the ring. Mandy then repositioned the ladder, and climbed up to retrieve the case.

Greg: Here is your winner, and Miss Money In The Bank, Mandy Rose!

She clutched the case close to her chest and as she got down, McKenzie was waiting for her to do an interview.

McKenzie: Mandy, a big congratulations for becoming Miss Money In The Bank after a gruelling match.

Mandy: This is just surreal to me, and the moment I cash this in, whoever the champions are had better watch out. Because this...

She held up the briefcase.

Mandy: ...will make me women's champion. And one last thing. Matt, if you're watching, I hope you got my note earlier tonight because I did this for you, my man.

She blew a kiss into the camera, most likely for Matt. As she and Sonya got backstage, Matt was waiting for her with crossed arms and a serious look on his face, along with his tag title belt.

Mandy: Sonya, could you give us a minute...

She put her hands up and headed off, as Mandy and Matt had their heated discussion.

Matt: What in the hell are you playing at?

Mandy: I'm not playing at anything. Not only do I know about you and Leah, but I also know about her being pregnant. So that's why I'm not asking you, I'm telling you, she's not worth it. She's nothing compared to this...

She grabbed Matt's hands and ran them down her body, but before they got to her peachy ass, he pulled them away.

Matt: Let me stop you right there. I've been through a lot in my life. Leah's the only woman I will ever love. No matter if she's pregnant or not, I will always love her and nobody else.

Mandy: Well, rest assured, you won't be saying that come the end of Smackdown on Friday. All I'm saying. L

She then left Matt standing there, carrying her briefcase and swaying her hips from side to side, trying to tease him. Josh and Braun then came up and had a confused look on their faces.

Josh: So... What was all that about?

Matt: She knows about me and Leah, as well as Leah's pregnancy. But it's no big deal, we had planned to announce it on Miz TV on Smackdown.

Braun: Well, don't forget that we have our first defence against Miz and Morrison that night too, so just keep focused on these for now.

Josh: Yeah, plus, I'll be there personally to make sure she doesn't get involved.

Matt: Relax, guys. I am focused, I have never been more focused.

He then got his phone out and phoned Leah.

Leah: Hey babe, what's up?

Matt: Well, since we're booked on the Dirt Sheet on Smackdown, chances are Mandy will be there too. How do you fancy kicking her ass to Cleveland and back?

Leah: No need to ask me twice, baby. Me and Ames will be there. Nobody flirts with MY man without me knowing. Trust me, she won't get away with this.

Matt: Awesome, babe. I'll see you when I get back!

Leah: Okay, boo! Love you!

Matt: Love you too!

He put a phone down with a smile on his face as he got his things together and headed home.
