Five Days Later

After the disappearance of the entire police department in the town, investigators searched the town for clues before eventually going into the woods to find out their whereabouts. While they investigated, they discovered the footprints of a large creature which is unknown to science itself.

The investigators tracked the footprints to a cave near the river where they found the bones of multiple people, some of them still had flesh on them as they found the identities of these skeletons to be those of the police force and some other people that went missing months ago.

When they revealed the findings to the public, everyone panicked but they assured them that the creature will be captured and killed once they figure out what it is.

Now in St Patrick's High School, most of the students were being homeschooled due to the recent murders across town. A curfew was also ensued to make sure everyone is inside and not outside where they could potentially be taken and killed.

Tyler Walt, a high school Junior, was at his locker trying to get his things but nervousness made his hands shake as he picked up his books before closing the door and walking before he stopped and looked down the hall.

Bryce Johnson, a well known prick of a Senior was leaning against the wall about thirty feet away from Tyler and was giving him a psycho smile before he walked off.

Tyler: That was weird.

He looked at the clock and saw that he had about three minutes to get to class before he was late for Physics in fourth period. He ran to the staircase and rushed upstairs to get to their on time and prepare for a Quiz he had on the Doppler Effect.

About a minute later, he made it to class and sat next to his four best friends. First was Travis Simmons, a childhood friend of his and a bit weird at times but it was normal. Next was Ben Hubert, a fat kid who loved to play video games and lastly was Hannah Libson, a pretty girl who appreciates almost anything about her friends but was socially awkward at times.

Travis: Jeez dude, you're two minutes early, what's the rush?

Tyler: Had to get here on time.

Travis: Before the monster gets you huh....

Ben: It's not something to make fun of though, like what kind of creature can kill a whole squad of officers?

Hannah: Tyler, you should know since you like to study mythological monsters.

Tyler sighed as he really regret telling his friends his unusual hobby of studying mythological monsters and creatures. He couldn't lie that he wasn't curious himself, ever since these murders happened, he's been digging through his research to find out what it is but came up short.

Tyler: I really don't know to be honest.

Travis: Welp, that blows, here comes the teacher.

The teacher walked into the room and faced his students, he was Mr King, a fat and grumpy teacher for physics and hated almost everyone. He was cold to his fellow teachers and secretaries while he usually hung out alone which made everyone suspicious of him.

Mr King: Alright slackers, enough talking and get to your testing seats while I prepare the quiz.

The students got up and scrambled around to their testing seats as Tyler sat down in his already while his friends were on the other side of the room while the teacher began to hand the quizzes out while collecting the worksheet that was due the same day.

Mr King: Where's your worksheet?

Travis: Well I don't have it bu-

Mr King: Zero!

He moved on while Travis made a punching gesture to sock him in the back of the head but didn't do it as the teacher gave one side of the class their quizzes before coming to Tyler's side and began handing out the quizzes.

Tyler received his quiz and immediately to work on it but a cough was heard on the table next to him and he looked to see Bryce there, grinning at him.

Bryce: Sup nerd, we have to talk.

Tyler gulped before continuing his quiz as the teacher sat down in his chair and looked at the class to make they weren't cheating from each other. The test was based on written responses on physics problems that were all about calculating the amount of energy that is radiated off of rockets.

Visible frustration were on most of the students faces but Tyler was fine as he worked on every problem with ease before he finished the test about fifteen minutes before the period ended. He got up and turned his paper in as the teacher looked over it and grunted before picking up his pen and writing 100% on his paper.

Tyler got his backpack and sat back down on his chair before looking at his friends and chuckled as Travis and Ben were mimicking strangling motions to the test paper while Hannah chewed on her pencil. Bryce, on the other hand, was answering the questions with some understanding which surprised Tyler a lot.

With nothing better to do, Tyler pulled his phone out and began scrolling through the various messages he got from his other friends at his old school since he transferred here for the beginning of the school year.

Most of the messages were links to funny memes or to what the Avengers were doing right now as Tyler kept on scrolling and clicking until their was one unchecked message left and it was from an unknown number.

Tyler narrowed his eyes before he clicked on the message and their was only a link, he grabbed his airpods and put them in his ears before he clicked the link and it led to a black glitched screen appearing on his phone before it disappeared and the main menu was on his screen.

Tyler: What the h-

Suddenly a call came onto his phone but luckily his phone was on silent so it didn't make noise at all as Tyler was feeling creeped out now before he shakily answered the call and it turns out it was a facetime call.

The video was dark and it was the woods as whoever was holding the phone was stepping on a lot of leaves as they looked around. Tyler made sure his volume and microphone were on as he quietly whispered.

Tyler: Hello?

Nothing replied or probably the person holding the phone couldn't hear him at all as he/she continued to walk around before the place narrowed down to a gorge as the ripping of flesh was heard as the person stopped and looked ahead. Their was a huge boulder in the way as the sounds came from the other side of the rock.

The person climbed the boulder and peered over and the sight of what it was made Tyler pale drastically. A large creature was chomping down on a human body and had massive antlers and a huge snout with large canine teeth, if Tyler had to estimate, it was about 11-15ft tall.

The person holding the phone tried to get closer and climb off the rock but they stepped on a twig and the eating stopped as Tyler widened his eyes as the creature turned its head to the camera.

It stared at the camera person for about a couple seconds before it lunged forward and the person screamed so loud Tyler yelped and tossed his phone out of his hand and onto the floor which made the whole class look at him.

Mr King: Mr Walt, what's the problem?

Tyler was sweating and he was pale as the airpods were still in his ears and he heard flesh being ripped and teared as the person was screaming in pain before making gurgling noises, the phone was faced down on the floor.

Tyler: N-nothing, s-sir.

The teacher shrugged while his friends looked at him with worry while Bryce looked at him with suspicion as Tyler got up and picked up his phone as the bell rang and everyone was rushing to finish up and turn in their tests.

Tyler turned his phone around and saw that the call was still going but now a bloodied hand was in the camera view before it was pulled away and dark fingers picked up the camera but Tyler couldn't see what it was but he heard the voice in his airpods.

???: I can see you...too.

Suddenly the camera view whooshed to the left and Tyler saw a gnarly caribou face with large antlers and a red dot for its hollow eyes also it had a decapitated head of a man in its jaws before the call ended. Tyler stood like that until his friends approached him.

Travis: Dude, you jumped up hard, what scary video made you do that?

Ben: That was an awkward moment.

Hannah: Um Tyler... you there?

He didn't say anything as he stared at his black phone screen before his eyes lolled up in the back of his head and he fell back and lost consciousness as his friends were yelling for help.

Two Hours Later

School ended and Ben, Travis and Hannah saw as Tyler was helped into the nurse's car to take him home as his friends watched him with worry.

Ben: How the hell did he pass out?

Hannah: Oh my gosh, are you really asking how he passed out?

Ben: No, I'm asking what the hell did he saw that made him pass out.

Travis: Yeah, he was looking through his phone before he suddenly jumped like something scared him.

Bryce: Must have been one hell of a jumpscare.

The three friends turned around to see Bryce behind them as they glared at the bully who was known for picking on them.

Hannah: What do you want, Bryce?

Bryce: Hey I came over because I was worried about Tyler.

Ben: Yeah right.

Travis: That's a whole lot of bullshit.

Bryce: Its true, I was planning to talk to him and the rest of you later but since I am here now I might as well tell you three.

Hannah: What is it?

Bryce: Since tomorrow is Saturday, I was hoping I could get you all to come to a family dinner that I'm having to make up for the trouble I caused for your group.

The three friends were surprised that this is even happening right now since Bryce bullied them ever since they were freshmen. Travis narrowed his eyes and pointed at Bryce before getting a mad look on his face.

Travis: What kind of food?

Hannah: Travis!

Ben: I am actually kind of curious myself.

Bryce: Mostly a variety of meat and some mashed potatoes with some juice and soda.

Travis: Well...count me in!

Ben: Me too!

Hannah: I still don't like this.

Bryce: Come on Hannah, please?

She looked at Bryce and remembered all those times he bullied them with no regrets but then again anyone can change....right?

Hannah: Fine, what time?

Bryce: About 7:00PM, you could invite your parents too, my parents are cool with it.

And with that, the three friends went home as Bryce went to his car and drove home, everyone was going to their homes because of the 8:00 curfew that was happening for the weekdays while the curfew was 9:00 for weekends.

Three Hours Later

Travis was in his room doing his homework as he looked out the window and looked at various trees of the woods. His parents had the closest house to the forest where most of the murders happened and his parents have been questioned before because of this.

Travis: Creepy place, indeed.

He looked at his phone which opened on the Messages as he texted Tyler to hopefully get a response but nothing came since he sent the last text about ten minutes ago.

Travis: Huh, stupid Pre-Calculus homework.

He continued to write down the calculations to the Quadratic Formula before he heard strange noises coming from the woods since his window was cracked open a little bit.

Travis: The fuck?

He got closer to the window before he heard a loud BOOM! From the woods like a tree fell down which made him jump on his bed as the weird sounds began to emit in his ears. The sounds were scary and creepy as Travis hid underneath his sheets in fright.

The sounds stopped as Travis peeked out from his sheets as the place was silent, he wanted to call for his parents but he remembered they were at the grocery store buying some food. He climbed out of bed quietly as he went and shutted his window before peeking through the curtains but saw nothing as he sighed in relief.

Travis: Shit that was scary.

He opened his door and was about to climb downstairs but froze in horror when he saw the front door was open and something heavy was crawling around downstairs before the shadow of the creature appeared on the wall to his right which made him rush into his room but he made sure to gently close the door and rushed under his bed.

He heard unhuman growling as the creature got closer as it got up the stairs.

Travis widened his eyes when the doorknob was being fiddled with as the creature fiddled with it and then to his horror, the door opened and Travis saw skinny and furry limbs in the doorway before he saw the creature's terrifying face swoop around the room as it got closer to the bed and sniffed it.

He tried to calm his breathing as the got closer and closer and then it stopped and took a cople steps back but then its head suddenly looked under the bed and Travis screamed when the beast opened its mouth and roared as Travis closed his eyes and waited for the inevitable but nothing happened.

???: Son?

He opened his eyes to see his dad was peaking under the bed and saw him hunkered in the corner.

Travis's Dad: Are....Are you ok?

Travis: Y-yeah.

Travis's Dad: No you're not, what happened?

Travis: I thought... someone else came in here.

Travis's Dad: Don't worry son, its just me, nothing will get in here. Now come on, I picked up some macaroni and cheese.

He walked out of the room and Travis crawled out from under the bed and shakily stood up as he looked at the ground and saw no traces of the creature.

Travis: I guess I was dreaming.

He looked at his phone before something caught his eye outside and he looked out the window and froze when he saw the creature standing on two legs in the deep woods as he can hear it growling from this distance before the fog covered the creature's body and it disappeared from view.

I CAN FEEL THE FUCKING INTENSITY AS I WAS MAKING THIS CHAPTER AND IT IS INSANE BUT ALSO EXCITING TO TACKLE A CREATURE I HAVE MUCH LOVE FOR IN THE WORLD OF FOLKLORE!!!
