Chapter 14

Reader POV

"Come on...come on! Work dammit!...piece of crap!" I growled, letting go of my gear, and sitting down on my bed. Now that I've run out of gas, my gear is useless. I sighed and covered my face with my hands. Then I heard a knock on my door. I didn't respond, knowing it was Sebastian.

He walked in, a fake smile plastered on his face. He looked down at the gear on the floor and raised his eyebrows in question.

"Problems?" he asked, coming to sit down next to me on the bed.

"Piece of junk is useless," I mumbled, cradling my face on my fist.

"Oh?" I looked at him and scoffed.

"Remember I told you the thing runs on compressed gas?" I asked him. He nodded.

"Well I've run out on it, so now it's useless," I sighed.

"Well maybe we'll find a way to fix that," said Sebastian. I raised an eyebrow.

"But at the moment there might be someone who could help you...return...to your home," he said, looking down at the last part. I jumped up.

"Really?! Who?!" I asked clinging onto his arm and shaking it. The thought of going back home, seeing the cadets, and the commander again made me happy and jump in excitement. Sebastian smiled at me and took my hand.

"I'll show you, follow me," he said, standing up, not letting go of my hand.

I dismounted (h/n) and walked towards the shop that read Undertaker on top. This guy can help me? Sebastian dismounted his horse and walked to my side.

"He can help me? He's a lunatic who works at a funeral parlor," I said incredulously.

"Yes I agree with you on that, but he's possibly your only chance," Sebastian responded.

"Well here goes nothing" I sighed and opened the door.

I walked in and Sebastian followed. I wrinkled my nose in disgust as the scent of corpses and burnt candle wax hit my nose.

"I swear if he pops out of one of the coffins-" I began.

"Well, well, well if it isn't the Phantomhive Butler and his lady friend, the soldier," cackled the Undertaker. As I expected him to pop out of a coffin, he simply walked in through curtain covered doorway.

"Undertaker we're here bec-" he interrupted me.

"I know what you're here for. You want to go back to your home," he laughed and pointed at me.

"How did you-"

"Now that's a secret...anyways...how to get you home? Well now that will cost you," he laughed and inched closer. I heard Sebastian sigh and I felt his gloved hands cover my ears.

I rolled my eyes in annoyance, knowing that what he was telling Undertaker was inappropriate, but come on!! I see naked beasts eat human beings all the time!! Sebastian is full of crap, honestly.

I looked at Undertaker when Sebastian removed his hands from my ears, and he laughed so hard and loud that he fell on the floor (basically ROFL). I sighed and looked up at Sebastian who simply smirked at me.

"What exactly did you say?" I asked curiously.

"Such words shouldn't be heard by a lady such as yourself, (y/n)" Sebastian smiled at me. I scoffed at him and mumbled "dipshit" under my breath. After what seemed like eternity, Undertaker stood up again, smiling at us.

"Now ye want some information on how to get back eh?"

I nodded, eager for the answer. Undertaker beckoned us to sit down. I sat down in one of the coffins on the floor, while Sebastian stood behind me and placed his hands on my shoulders...and I didn't pull away, like I normally would. Instead I felt butterflies in my stomach and place one of my hands in his and squeezed.

"Well it's simple really...you just have to wait," smiled Undertaker and laced his fingers together.

"Say what?" I asked incredulously.

"Wait." he repeated. Then something inside me snapped. I jumped forward, gripping the collar of his robe and shaking him.

"Wait?! Wait for what?! What if there's a fight going on right now?! What if Erwin gets hurt?! Or the cadets?! Or if Eren loses control?! OR IF WHAT'S LEFT OF HUMANS BEHIND THE WALLS GET KILLED BY THOSE BEASTS WHILE I'M HERE JUST WAITING!!!" I shouted in his face, feeling devastated, hurt and angry. I felt tears threatening to pour down my face but i blinked them away angrily. Sebastian's hands latched onto my arms and pulled me back against his chest, wrapping his arms around my waist and holding me against him as I heaved in anger and shouted profanities at Undertaker.

I turned around and slumped against Sebastian, who wrapped his arms around me in an embrace. I gripped the flaps of his coat and buried my face in his chest, not caring if anyone saw me cry.

"I can't wait. I can't spend more time here, while the others are terrified of living their last days," I cried, while Sebastian ran his gloved fingers through my hair. I then felt someone's hand placed itself on my shoulder.

"I can assure ye nothing that ye think has happened, they're merely worried about ye and looking for ye, (y/n)," said Undertaker in all seriousness.

"How do you know?" I muttered. I could hear the smiled in his voice as he talked.

"Well that I cannot tell ye, but ye can take the butler's word for it instead," he said. I looked up at Sebastian and raised my eyebrows in confusion. He looked down at me and nodded.

"You can trust him (y/n)," he murmured softly, while tucking a loose strand of hair behind my ear. I sighed and nodded. I turned around to look at Undertaker.

"What exactly do I have to wait for?" I asked calmly.

"Let me explain. That ring ye got there," he pointed at it, and I ran my thumb over it, feeling its small blade threatening to pop out. "Is what got ye here in the first place."

"How? Er- I mean, my Commander gave it to me in order to help me tr-...in emergencies," I stopped myself from saying "transforming."

"Who do ye think made it?" Undertaker smirked. I stopped breathing.

"Y-you made it?" I stammered. Undertaker nodded.

"And I had an acquaintance give it to yer commander."
"Why?" I asked.

"Because of course it was going to help ye, but it would also bring ye here. Where ye serve a purpose," he grinned. Purpose?

"What purpose is that exactly?" I asked.

"I'm afraid I can't tell ye that, ye will find out in time. Ye need to help a certain someone, and only then will ye able to leave and come back as ye wish.Technically ye already have started, even though ye haven't realized it yerself."

WTF?

"Okay hang on...once I help this person then I can come back whenever I want? Why would I have to do that?" I asked, even though I knew the answer. I would miss everyone...especially a certain butler from the Phantomhive Manor...Tanaka..

Just kidding!! Sebastian Michaelis.

"Yes that is correct," said Undertaker.

"How long would that take exactly?" asked Sebastian behind me.

"It depends on how long she can finish the task of helping that person."

"Can I speed up the process?" I asked impatiently.

"I'm afraid not...just continue doing what ye usually do."

"Usually do?" I asked, confused.

"Just do what ye usually do, and don't think about getting home. Everything will be fine."

And I actually believed it. I sighed in defeat and nodded.

"Oh and I forgot to mention..." Undertaker started, before he reached inside a coffin and pulled out six cylinders of compressed gas for my gear.

"These are what ye needed right?" he smiled. I nodded and smiled when he placed them on my arms. Sebastian came to my side and took all of them. My, such a gentleman. I threw a grateful smile at his way and turned to Undertaker before he could react.

"How did you get them?" I asked.

"I have...connections," he responded. I nodded leaving it at that.

"Thank you...I appreciate your help and for the gas," I smiled. Undertaker waved his hand in the air as if saying "no problem."

"If ye need to refill or just want to talk ye know where to find me," he smiled as we headed out of the funeral parlor.

When the door shut, I turned to Sebastian and leaned up. I gave him a kiss on the cheek and smiled at him. Sebastian gave me his genuine smile, which made me go weak in the knees.

"Thank you Sebastian. For everything you've done for me," I smiled at him.

"It was an honor to do so. I would do anything for you," he responded. I blushed and looked away in embarrassment, wondering who I have been helping this entire time.
