It was dark. Clouds cover the glowing noon. Brilliant stars shone dimly between the gaps of the clouds. Anyone ti look up at the night sky would see two purple-tinted black figures sliding across the stars.
"This is fun!"I laughed as me and Ganjui did careful tricks in the air. We had strapped Deja with a leather strap in between two of my spikes that run down my spine. I still didn't go upside down or to fast, just in case. The breeze was cool as we flew, it thrashing in our faces.

Ganjui smiled. He did a small movement of his wings and tail then he dove down.At a couple meters of the ground he spread his wings and slowed as his feet touched solid ground. I was about to do the the same when Deja fidgeted with the strap, reminding me that she was there, only kept in place by a single piece of leather. So, instead I flew down in a fast but in a gentle spiral. My wings ached as I landed, due to lots of flying. I normally don't fly that long. It was fun though! I bent down slowly so Deja could slide off. We said our good nights and went home.

~~~~One Month Later~~~~

School had started back up and I returned to little flying time. I was so excited, next year Id be in high school! I had two classes with Deja, one with Ganjui and one with both.I loved almost all of my new teachers. As I was walking home that afternoon, Ganjui asked me how old I was. What a silly question!
"I really don't know,"I said "does it really matter?"
"Yes"He said in a serious tone.
"Um ok, I'm probably about 14?"I said curiously.
"14!" He exclaimed.
"Yeah....soooo..."
"Sooo that means, you know what, never mind, just find Deja and come with me."
I soon found Deja and caught back up with Ganjui.
"Lets go" he said as he lead the way. It wasn't quite night yet so he ran. I glanced at Deja , nodded and sped after Ganjui. The three of us soon stood in front of a house, of which Id never been in. I stared at Ganjui but his gaze never left the doors. He took a breath and knocked. The door opened. He seemed un phased but scared almost. The door opened  up into a black room with a velvet rug and a matching couch. A dim fire revealed the shadow of a huge figure coiled upon itself. We stepped inside as Ganjui motioned for me and Deja to be quiet. The door shut and as this happened, the shadow uncoiled and launched at Ganjui. It pushed Ganjui against the door, its claws released a steam that seemed to force Ganjui in to his dragon form.
"Why are you here weakling?" The figure said, still holding Ganjui to the door. At this point Id transformed into dragon form and bit the tail of the flying snake like creature. It yowled in anger and pain.  It held Ganjui to the door as it swiveled its head in my direction. It let Ganjui slid to the floor as it pounded on the ground. I spit out a scale or two and than spoke.
"My name is Serine, Im here to find a way back to my mother, the queen of dragons, and there," I nodded to Ganjui as he coughed and shook," Is Ganjui, my accompanist and this is Deja, my friend. Now, lets talk about whatever need to be done."
The figure then snapped.

The fire place lit itself and the light illuminated a scene that I never would have believed if it wasn't for Deja who pinched me. Before me, floated rather than stood, a Eastern Dragon. The serpents were commonly found in  Asia, Europe and rarely far north of Africa.
"Fine."the orange serpent spat."First things first, my name is to be strictly-"
"MewMewTheCat!"I yelled, cutting him off as I grinned. He gave me a glare that made me frown soon after.
"Lubus, Serine, Lubus"He said. He snapped again and cushions seemed to appear by the fire place.
"Lets begin shall we?"Lubus said as he took his cushion. Deja Ganjui and I took are spots as the conversation started.

~~ 1 hour later~~

"Thats why we need your help"Ganjui said. The Serpent stood and got ready to fly.
"Ok," he said," let's go"
It was dark night so I let Deja climb on so we could fly. As soon as she was secured I lifted off. Ganjui followed.
The four of us landed in my back yard and turned into our human forms and Deja slid off. The Serpent was an elderly man who looked like he would collapse and die by being touched. I had to hold back a giggle. I opened the door with the key I keep around my neck. My mother dripped the pan she had and ran over to hug me.
"I was so worried! Im so glad you're okay" she ranted.
"Mom, as you know this is Deja-"
"Hi"
"-and Jake"
*Wave*
"And this is Jeff" I said pointing to Lubus. I soon felt his eyes on me."He needs to talk with you" I almost whimpered as I spoke.
"Ok"Mom said as she showed Lubis to the sitting room. He glared at me and hissed
"I'll get you for that!"
"Ooooh, so scared!" I mocked him as he walked off. I led Ganjui and and Deja to my room to hangout. We mostly sat quietly. I knew this time would come, so why did it hurt so bad. A few days from now I would have to leave and fly a long, long way to leave here and arrive at Dragon island. I cried. I loved mom and Deja was my best friend, but I would leave them behind. Was it for a better world? Life? Or was it just because. I sighed and turned on the radio. All that was playing was sad music. I growled then turned it off. I decided to play a game to pass the time. I pulled out Monopoly. We played till Lubus came up and informed all of us what the plan was I was to leave in2 days, when the sun is set and the moon is dark (or as you humans say, NewMoon) so that we may not be seen. Lubus would draw us a map then drop it off before we leave. As soon as everyone left the room I flipped over and started crying into my pillow. I must've somehow managed to sleep because I woke up to the birds chirping and sun shining. I stretched and sat up. I then remembered the previous night and sunk back into bed. I sat in silence. I pulled out my flute and fooled around with it then played a sad song. A few minutes after finishing, my mom opened my door.
"I baked some cookies if you want some "she taunted.
I shrugged and slowly got out of bed. We went downstairs to eat. We sat in silence until she asked
"Aren my  they good?"
"Yeah"
"Glad you think so"
"I'll miss this. I'll miss you. I'll miss Deja and well everything."I started crying.
Mom stood up and walked over. She put her hand shoulder and said
"Keep us close to your heart and that will be enough."
I sighed
"Thank you."I stood up and hugged her."I love you
"Me too".
