Who Am I?

Mason Fitzgibbon is a Toronto-based Wattpad exclusive writer. She works as a mental health outreach nurse during the day and attempts to squeeze in time to write whenever possible.
Mason started on Wattpad in 2013, but has been crafting stories since she could write. Her first story was Family Comes First, and now the series has more than 29 million reads. In 2018, she joined with Patient Twelve as one of the original stories in the Next Beta Program, which was the original Paid Stories Program. Her story Day After Day has also joined the Paid Program, and it was short-listed in the 2021 Wattys.
Mason continues to publish new stories while taking care of her two cats (Leo and Theo).

7 QUESTIONS

1. What prompted you to start writing on Wattpad and what do you like most about the platform as a writer?
I started writing on Wattpad because I always had been crafting stories and the thought of being able to share my work was exciting! My favourite part of the platform is readers engagement. I love reading every comment my stories get!

2. What has been your most rewarding Wattpad experience?
My most rewarding experience is the community that I have found on Wattpad. I have made many friends who I can do writing sprints with and can help me with brainstorming.

3. If you had to describe your story in three words, what would they be?
Cannibals. Brainwash. Disturbing. 

4. Tell us one thing about your writing process that has helped you the most.
Joining groups that have writing sprints have made me a much more productive writer. Writing sprints help keep you accountable and provide encouragement to keep writing. 

5. What is your proudest moment as a writer? Do you have a memory you will never forget?
I will never forget the moment that my first book Family Comes First became popular. One day, my phone was continuously buzzing with notifications. I remember spending all day reading my incoming comments and DMs. It was such an exciting experience! 

6. Which of your books is your favourite, and why that one?
My favourite writing experience was writing "Vampires, Eh?" I never realized how much fun it is to write vampires. I definitely need to return to the genre...
