Froststar lay down in the hole with her head down. She felt the hunger pangs in her belly and her throat felt dry.

Jaws had taken her out of the hole a couple of moments ago, and she was forced to fight two well-fed, powerful rogues.

By the time it ended, Froststar was so tired that she could hardly walk. I wonder how my Clan is doing... hopefully Silvercloud could manage.

A piece of prey landed beside her and she stared at it in surprise. "Eat it before he changes his mind," Bark growled to her.

Froststar quickly ate the prey and felt refreshed. Thank StarClan, she sighed in relief.

She tried to get comfortable as a piece if wet moss fell at her paws. What? Froststar thought in confusion.

Bark was facing the same direction that he was facing a dew moments ago so she guessed that he didn't notice it.

She lapped up the cool water and her throat felt better.

Suddenly, Bark turned to look at her. "Where did you get that?" he growled, unsheathing his claws.

"I found it here," Froststar replied honestly.

Bark looked unconvinced and he bared his teeth in a snarl. "Are you trying to distract me? So that your Clanmates can try to save you?"

"Not at all," Froststar mewed.

He glared at her with his dark yellow eyes. "You better stay there," he snarled. "Or else I will personally shred you."

She nodded warily. Even if my Clan has a plan to save me, I think Bark will prevent that from happening.

"Bark, bring the prisoner up here," Froststar heard Jaws mew to the guard. He bent down and grabbed her strongly.

She didn't struggle as he threw her into a clearing. For a young cat, he is strong, Froststar thought.

"It is time for the trials," Jaws announced to his rogues. They yowled in excitement. "This prisoner will fight me. If she wins, she is freed. But if she doesn't win, she will die."

The rogues yowled in agreement.

"Let the fight begin!" Jaws yowled, pouncing onto Froststar.

She was caught off guard and she was too late to prevent Jaws from reaching her. He bit onto her pelt viciously.

What do I do? Froststar thought in alarm.

She twisted as hard as she could and managed to crush Jaws. She felt him letting go of her and she recovered her footing.

Jaws got up and he pounced towards her with his claws out. Froststar swiped at his face as he landed beside her.

Half blinded by the blood, Jaws swiped at her wildly. One of them caught her and threw her towards a wall.

Froststar felt the breath knocked out of her. Jaws struck her with his claws again, this time, with more accuracy.

"Kill her!" one of the rogues yowled.

Jaws grabbed her before she could scramble away. Froststar hit him with her hind paws and left him momentarily stunned.

She took the chance to tackle him, pinning him down. Then, Jaws did something unexpected.

He flung her off so far that she hit on a wall. She felt one of her paws bleeding as it had hit something sharp.

Jaws smirked in triumph as he got ready to bite her throat.

Froststar swiped weakly at him. He only grabbed her uninjured paw and clawed it. She let out a yowl of pain. "This is your end," Jaws laughed, ready to strike.

She braced herself for overwhelming pain but ut didn't come. To her surprise, Bark had bit onto Jaws' pelt and dragged him off her.

Froststar stared in shock. "Wha-" Bark interupted her.

"We need to go," he growled, pushing her towards some boxes.

Once they were out, Froststar began to run despite her injured paws. She stumbled and fell.

Scar was in top of her within a heartbeat, slashing at her with his claws. Bark shoved the tom off and nudged Froststar up.

"Hurry!" he snapped.

Froststar got up and continued running. She could just see the ThunderClan camp now, if they would reach it in time, they will be safe.

Unfortunately, Jaws stood in front of them with a menacing look. Soon, the rogues surrounded them.

"You traitor!" Scar snarled at Bark, who glared at him with hostility.

"Now, you will all die!" Jaws growled.

To Froststar's relief, she heard a familiar battle cry. Silvercloud was leading a patrol that launched themselves onto the rogues, her tails lashing in fury.

Jaws pounced towards her but Fernpaw pounced into him instead. She nipped at his ears as he tried to shake her off.

Fernpaw gave a huge push that launched Jaws into a thorn bush. Froststar stepped forward to assist her kit but there was no need.

Fernpaw and Hailpaw worked together to push Jaws towards the river, and without warning, Jaws slipped and he fell into the river.

The two young cats looked at each other in shock as Jaws disappeared under the roaring river.

When the skirmish ended, Froststar found herself next to Bark, who was gazing at her Clanmates calmly.

"Get out of here, you filthy rogue!" Rockpelt snarled at Bark. He blinked at him unflinchingly.

"Wait, Bark helped me escape," Froststar mewed. "You should thank him."

Rockpelt stepped back, grumbling.

"Thank you Bark," she turned to the brown and white tom.

Bark acknowledged it with a flick of his white tipped tail. "You are welcome, although Bark is not my real name."

Froststar blinked in surprise. "Then what is your real name?"

The brown tom stood proudly as he spoke, "I am Alderpaw, of ShadowClan."
