Chapter 5 - Shocking Arrival
Feather shoved a strange smelling thing under Frostleaf's nose. She woke up immediately and wrinkled her nose. "What's that?" she asked.
"Tuna," she replied. "I thought you would like it instead of the pellets that you clan cats thought it was rabbit dung. Eat it."
Frostleaf reluctantly chewed on the fishy prey and swallowed. "That tastes ok... I guess," she mewed, trying not to insult Feather for her kind gesture.
When she finished the last traces of the tuna, Feather mewed, "Tell me about your clan. I heard a lot about the four clans."
Frostleaf smiled. "There are four clans in the forest: ThunderClan, ShadowClan, RiverClan and WindClan. ThunderClan lives among trees, ShadowClan lives in the darkness part of the forest, RiverClan lives by the river, hunting fish, and WindClan lives on the moor, chasing rabbits for prey. How do you know about the clans anyway?"
"Many moons ago, a small brown cat came to my house, or rather, my housefolk's house. He was terribly injured, but luckily my housefolk know how to cure cats. When I asked him where he come from, he told me that he was from ThunderClan. He mentioned that he had a sister, but since he looked upset, I didn't question him further. The next day, he left and I never see him again, " she explained.
"Did he tell you his name?" Frostleaf asked, curiosity getting better of her. To her disappointment, Feather shook her head. "He didn't. But he was murmuring about 'storm' and 'shade' in his sleep."
"What about Max?" she asked. "Max?" she mewed, shrugging. "Nothing too special. My housefolk bought him. He is always so cranky and hostile. Tell me more about your clans."
"The clans have some things in common, despite our differences. One of them is that we all follow the warrior code," Frostleaf began.
"What's the warrior code?" Feather asked.
"The warrior code is the set of rules we follow. Without it, we would be nothing but vicious rogues," she explained.
"How? What some of the rules?" she asked again.
"One of the code is that we must not kill unless absolutely necessary. The others include, being loyal to the clan, rescuing kits even from other clans and feeding the elders and queens first," Frostleaf mewed patiently.
"Why would you save kits from other clans if they will become warriors and be stronger than your clan?" Feather questioned.
"If one clan fall because of no more kits, all clans will fall as they will fight with each other for the clan's territory," she replied.
Feather gave a sigh of relief. "That's definitely reasonable."
Frostleaf nodded as the monster suddenly stopped. When she gave Feather a questioning look, she let out a purr of amusement. "Cars need 'food' too."
The Twoleg went out of the monster and returned with something in its paws. It put a shiny thing on the seat and poured a white and smooth liquid in it.
It did the same again and patted both of them. It said something and it left.
Frostleaf looked at it. The smell reminded her of the milk she had when she was a kit. Feather licked it up quickly and mewed, "Drink the milk, and don't tell me that you don't know that this is milk!"
Frostleaf obeyed, licking it up and enjoying the familiar taste of milk. "Where would your clan sleep in the night?" Feather asked.
"We would sleep in our camp. It is well hidden from enemies and there will be guards guarding the entrance," she replied. "We also collect moss for our bedding."
"Oh..." Feather mewed, washing herself. "We will be at the lake tomorrow."
"That fast?" Frostleaf mewed, surprised.
"Yup," she purred. "You will remember me, right?" Frostleaf nodded, smiling. "I will. The clans owe thanks to you."

When the monster stopped, Frostleaf knew she had arrived. The sun began to set as she jumped down, happy to put her paws on grass again.
"Bye!" Feather called out. "And good luck!"
"It was nice meeting you!" Frostleaf yowled back, heading towards the calm water. As the last traces of the sun disappeared, stars began to appear on the lake.
This is where I need to go, she thought. She quickly make a nest and sleep beside the lake, getting ready for the next day.
~~~~
Frostleaf headed towards the trees, as it was the ideal place for a clan to camp, unexposed and easy to escape.
The leaves rustled, revealing a mouse digging for seeds. She didn't want to catch it, but the mouse seemed to beg for her to kill it.
Frostleaf dropped into a hunter's crouch and stalked towards the mouse. However, before she pounce, she heard a twig snap and the mouse fled.
She hissed in frustration. She heard a quiet laugh and saw a glimpse of a golden pelt. A tom walked out of the bushes calmly, with a smile on his face.
"Golden?" she exclaimed in shock.
He only smiled and mewed, "My name is Goldenclaw..."
"...and welcome to DragonClan."
