Chapter 25:
Jaypaw woke up with a moan, pain throbbing in his head. Then he remembered that he was knocked out. "How are you feeling?" Swiftheart asked.
"Fine..." Jaypaw mumbled. Then he laughed unenthusiastically. "Except, my head hurts!"
Swiftheart sighed. "Don't worry, you'll be feeling better and getting back to training before you know it."
"I hope so..." Jaypaw mumbled, and slipped back into the depths of sleep.

Jaypaw yawned, scarcely paying attention to Honeyfern as she gave him advice on hunting. "Jaypaw!" Honeyfern snapped. "Are you even paying attention?"
Jaypaw's fur rippled. "Sorry..." He muttered, his ear flicking irritably.
Honeyfern blinked down at him sympathetically. "Why don't we head back to camp? You need some rest before the gathering." Jaypaw jumped.
"The gathering is tonight?" He yelped, looking at her with wide eyes.
"No. It's tomorrow night." She corrected him, her tail twitching back and forth. "Now come on. You seem to be quite tired lately. I need you to not be staying up however late you have been, you haven't been paying enough attention in training."
Jaypaw sighed as he forged a lie into his mind. "I... I have been thinking about Gorsepaw... And Fernleaf... Wh-what if Fernleaf were still here? Could that have changed Gorsepaw's fate?" He really had thought of what he told Honeyfern at night before he went into the Dark Forest, but only sometimes. Could Fernleaf still being alive have changed Gorsepaw's fate? Her fate away from the clans? He sighed, his tail drooping.
"Jaypaw... Nothing could've changed Gorsepaw's fate... She... She's gone. It's the path StarClan chose for her. I bet... Even if Fernleaf were alive Gorsepaw still would've been taken away from the fox..." Honeyfern explained sadly. "N-now, let's head back to camp. You really need your sleep."

Jaypaw awoke in his mossy nest, he was no longer tired, and his stomach felt empty. He got to his paws, and stretched them luxuriously. He had slept most of the day, and it was nearly sundown. He padded to the freshkill pile and picked out a frail mouse. As he began eating, he thought about how he hadn't been able to visit the Dark Forest. Maybe it was only a night thing. The sky began to darken, leaves drifting slowly into camp. Leaf fall had obviously arrived. Jaypaw looked up at the sky, and noticed the moon slowly etching up into the sky. Tomorrow was the gathering. He sighed. If only Gorsepaw were here to share the first gathering together... It's been almost a moon since she was taken away by the coldhearted fox. Jaypaw sighed, his whiskers twitching. He finished the mouse with a few quick bites. He began heading back to his den, but froze. He tasted the air, scenting something extremely disturbing. Jaypaw began to head to the camp entrance, but at a faster pace. "I'm going out for a stroll," Jaypaw explained to Kinkfur, who was guarding the camp. The dark gray tom dipped his head and watched calmly as Jaypaw ventured into their territory, unknowing to whatever Jaypaw had scented when he was in camp.
So sorry I hadn't posted yesterday! I was just really busy and I didn't have any time to get to work on this book. So I decided, why not make an extra long chapter to make it up? So thanks so much for reading this—or even just scrolling through it! It really helps and excites me when I see how many views I have. I just... Feel glad that people are enjoying the Fanfiction I have come up with.
Thanks So Much! —Leafstorm(kittennoodle12)
