Chapter 4: Interviews, visits, and duties
-Dovewing-
Today was the interviews. It was the final day. The thought of fighting off cats the next day scared Dovewing. She sat in a room by herself. The room was full of things like feathers and colorful flowers. There was also things like cobwebs and a curved leaf with dew in it and another with mud.
"Ah! Hello!" Dovewing turned to see a light brown tabby tom with lush yellowish green eyes. He had a large smile that made Dovewing feel awkward.
"Hello....." Dovewing warily greeted as the tom jumped over to her, his slick body seemingly from a Windclan cat but he had powerful muscles that bunched up beneath his fur, symbolizing he was also Thunderclan. Maybe he was half clan?
The Tom's eyes scanned Dovewing and she squirmed uncomfortably.
"Well. I'm Oakfur! Your stylist!" Dovewing stared a him.
"Your a Clan cat!? And your helping the rogues with these horrid Games?!" Dovewing exclaimed and the ecstatic tom stared at his paws.
"Was a Clan Cat. Me and my sister left after our sister was exiled for having relationships with a loner. We found this stupid and left after our mother was killed." Oakfur replied and Dovewing looked down.
"I know how she might feel." Dovewing murmured, remembering Tigerheart.
"Yeah. After that me and Willowfur joined this group of rogues. One of the main reasons being we wouldn't have to risk participating in the games." Oakfur's happy attitude returned. "Enough about me! I'm here to make you shine!" Dovewing's ears flattened as the tom scanned over her with his tail.
"What's your name?" Oakfur asked
"I'm Dovewing." She murmured and watched the tom as he darted to a collection of feathers before returning with a mouthful of lush dove feathers. He attached two together with a burr of some sort before hanging them behind her ear. She watched as he grabbed some more and stuck them into random parts of her fur.
--
Dovewing looked at her reflection. She had to admit that Oakfur's idea of sticking so many dove feathers into her fur was a great idea and she had smoothed her fur out so it looked like she was growing the feathers. She smiled and followed Oakfur out of the room to a larger one. This one had many cats that also were decorated with certain things. It took her a moment to realize these were the other tributes. Hollyleaf ran over. Holly leaves decorated her pelt and a clump of holly berries with holly leaves attached were stuck near her ear.
"Wow! You look amazing!" Hollyleaf complimented and Dovewing smiled. "You too. I wonder how the others look." Dovewing was answered when Lionblaze ran over. His fur was spiked up and he had something in his fur that glittered a gold.
"You look like a ferocious lion." Hollyleaf flicked her tail and Lionblaze nodded. Dovewing turned to see that Jasminestar had jasmine flowers and petals decorating her pelt. Beside her was Whitekit and Moonkit. The kit's fur sparkled and Whitekit had a beautiful white flower above her ear.
Dovewing noticed a large puddle in the center of the room. She walked over and looked down. It was just clouded water. Dovewing jerked up as she felt a tail drape down her spine. "You look beautiful, like always." She turned her head to see Bumblestripe.
He had spiked up fur but his was decorated with drops of dew.
"Bumblestripe." Dovewing muttered.
"Hey.... Brook asked me about joining her and the other tribe cats alliance." Dovewing turned to him.
"You weren't going to join without me, weren't you?" Dovewing asked and Bumblestripe nodded.
"I'll think about it. For now I'm just going to truce." Dovewing replied and looked back down at the water. The water stirred and Fang appeared. Dovewing couldn't help but let out a growl, as did most of the other tributes.
"Welcome everyone, to the interviews of our tributes for the first ever Warrior Games!" Unseen cats yowled and cheered.
Fang rose a paw to quiet down the cats. He smiled and turned.
"From Windclan welcome, Crowfeather!" A cat, presumably Windclan's trainer, nudged Crowfeather to a hole in the wall. The feathers in his fur moving slightly with the force.
Dovewing stared down at the puddle, as did the other tributes. Crowfeather stumbled into view and sat down on one of the twoleg pelts, the other occupied by Fang.
"So, Crowfeather. How does it feel to be in the first ever Warrior Games? Do you plan on setting a future example for other Windclan tributes?" Fang asked and Crowfeather looked at him.
"I'm honestly sort of worried. My mate, Nightcloud, was picked and....I am worried." Crowfeather shuffled his paws.
"My sources tell me your daughter and son were reaped. And from Thunderclan no less!" Crowfeather stiffened and his fur bristled. Fang suddenly turned to the audience.
"We'll hear more of this, I'm sure of it!" And Crowfeather was quickly nudged out of the view of the puddle. Dovewing noticed Lionblaze and Hollyleaf were also bristling.

-Few Days Earlier, Brambleclaw-
We looked around. The clans had been gathered to the Island for a big announcement. Fang grinned malicously down at them.
"So. I noticed that you clans don't have much of a purpose. So I have divided duties for you all to carry out! The Tribe will be supplying us with Feathers from the Eagles, as well as a few pieces of their prey. Riverclan's job is to supply us with fish and reeds for our new construction and our meals."
Fang waited for the Riverclan cats to protest but last time any cats had protested, Onestar had one of his lives ripped from him as well as the lives of Webfoot and Tornear. So it was silent.
"Windclan will supply us with rabbit pelts." Fang flicked his tail. Nothing really occurred.
"Shadowclan will supply us with herbs and temporarily, some brambles and pine branches."
The crowd was silent.
"And Thunderclan shall supply us with extra prey! That is all. Oh and I shall give your clans two cats each to help and supervise that this rule is obeyed." Fang waved the clan cats away and the cats all walked back to their camps.
-back to Dovewing-
"And here is Dovewing, one of our lovely Thunderclan tributes!" Dovewing edged over to the pelt and sat down. Wondering if her clanmates were watching her right now.
"So tell me, Dovewing. Why do you want to win the Warrior Games?" Fang asked, flicking his tail.
"Well...Other than dying.. I have my sister, Ivypool, back home. My father too. I just... I want to win for them." Dovewing looked at her paws.
"Well then. Thank you for your time." Fang nodded and Dovewing walked off the stage.
"And our last she cat from Thunderclan, Hollyleaf!" Hollyleaf made her way onto the stage.
"So Hollyleaf. Tell us a little about yourself." Fang told her and Hollyleaf shuffled her paws.
"Well. I have two brothers, Jayfeather and Lionblaze... My grandfather is Firestar, and as you know I'm from Thunderclan."
"Yes. And I hear your one for the warrior code?"
"Yes."
"Then how does it feel to know your mother broke two codes just by having you?"
Hollyleaf's claws screeched against the ground and her fur bristled. She turned and glared at Fang.
"You stay out of this! Your throwing innocent cats to their deaths and you try pointing out the flaw in my blood line that I didn't ever ask for!"
Fang blinked in shock.
"You have no right to do what your doing! All these cats' deaths are on your paws! Don't you dare try to be a hero by making me a villain!" Hollyleaf screeched.
"The only right to death you have is yours! I ought to rip out your throat for your evil! Cats have been put through this before by you! And the survivors are being forced to train your new victims! Willow had to face these horrors, how many have faced this horror?!" Hollyleaf screamed and jumped up, snarling at Fang.
"YOU DESERVE TO DIE!" She screamed and stormed off stage. Fang regained his composure.
"That was our tributes everyone. You will be allowed to visit within the next three hours before we start the games tomorrow."
---
Dovewing flicked her tail impatiently. Her entire clan would come visit her if they could. She was waiting for her family, she would be sent into the game within the next twelve hours as Willow had told her.
"Dovewing!" Dovewinf spun around to see three cats she couldn't be happier to see.
It was Whitewing, Birchfall and Ivypool.
her parents pressed against her as did Ivypool.
"Oh my poor baby...." Whitewing sobbed and Dovewing gave her a comforting lick.
"You have no idea how bad I wanted to volunteer for you." Ivypool sobbed and it was quiet.
Dovewing smiled and noticed a ginger tom at the front of the room.
"Fire star." She breathed and he walked over.
"Whitewing, Birchfall. The others are waiting outside to take back. Ivypool stay here I must talk to you too."
Dovewing's parents reluctantly walked away.
"Dovewing. I know you may not like this but I need you or Lionblaze to make it out alive. Hopefully you both-"
"Visiting time is over. Our tributes need to rest for tomorrow's games." Firestar nodded and padded out of the room.
Ivypool sighed and pressed her muzzle to Dovewing's shoulder.
"Live for me, Dovewing." She whispered before leaving. Dovewing curled up in her nest and fell into a deep sleep.
