Ch. 16: Gathering Intel

While hiding out at the warehouse, the four friends had to find ways to keep themselves occupied, keep their minds off of what was happening outside. There was no telling how long it would take for Molly to get back, but they were sure it would be for a long while. There was more than a few ways to kill time while at the warehouse, including a nice game of Cards Against Humanity.

"What killed my boner?" Pat read from the black card, then pulling the first white one laid facedown on the table and revealing it.

"Kanye West" everyone laughed before he pulled the next card.

"Sheathing my giant horse cock" that one gained even bigger laughs. And now, the last card.

"Pouring concrete into other people's scrotum" that didn't gain as big of laughs as the last one, it was like laughs from Gar and JP and slight grimace from Wade, but still funny.

"So that's how they teach you sex is evil" Pat added and the laughter continued. "These are all good and accurate, but I'm gonna hafta go with Sheathing my giant horse cock"

"Yay!" JP said.

"Wha-again?! How?!" Wade said in shock. Of course, JP's been on a role in this game.

"I'm just good at this game" he shrugged innocently, yet arrogantly.

"Alright" Wade irritably sighed. "My turn to judge" he drew a black card from the deck. "Oh, this is a two card-er" he noted before reading. "Hear my voice mortals! It is I, BLANK, the God of Blank!"

He waited as the three decided on their cards, having to remind them how to present their cards in the proper order. They each placed their cards forward and Wade began.

"Hear my voice mortals! It is I, Jeff Goldblum, the God of, Being Fabulous! That is so damn true" Wade giggled and the others laughed.

"Hear my voice mortals! It is I, A stray pube, the God of, Surprise sex" the others laughed again while Wade seemed slightly disturbed. "So, that's how people get laid these days" he said and they laughed again.

"You'd be surprised, Wade" Gar noted, earning even bigger laughter from the others and further disturbing their team leader.

"I don't even wanna know" he shook his head before pulling the last cards. "Hear my voice mortals! It is I, Morgan Freeman, the God of, A sexy porn star" that one received laughs and applause. "Yea sorry guys, but that's gotta be the winner"

"Right here, riggity riggity rekt!" JP celebrated by shaking his hips like an exotic dancers.

"Are you kidding me?!" Wade said.

"Hey, can't deny the man's gotta sexy voice" he stated, and then attempted an impersonation of his voice. "Hey baby, Kermit the frog here to show you a good time"

The looks he received in return were priceless.

"The fuck?" Said Patrick.

"JP!" Said Gar.

"What the hell was that?" Wade asked.

"That was my Morgan Freeman voice" he shrugged.

"That sounded more like Granny Wilkins" Pat said.

"Maybe that's what I'll call it then" JP smirked and the others laughed again.

"And wait a minute, what the hell was that... riggity.. rig-whatever that was?!" Wade asked.

"It's a metaphor" JP answered.

"A metaphor?!"

"Yea, where someone gets rekt in an epic, exotic fashion" he stated with a proud smile.

"What the fu-"

They were all cut off by the sound of footsteps approaching. It was alarming as they knew it couldn't be Molly. It was way too soon for it to be her. They all jumped to their feet in preparation of whoever was approaching. It definitely wasn't Molly, but it was someone that Wade should've expected.

"Bob?" he asked.

"Wade!" Bob happily said. "I thought I'd find you here" he said as he walked up and gave his friend a hug.

"I'm guessing you heard about last night?" Wade asked.

"Yea, I was really worried, I couldn't believe it" he stated, then noticing the other three boys.

"Oh, uh, this is Bob guys, a good friend of mine. And Bob, this is Patrick, Gar and JP" he introduced and all meeted and greeted with one another.

Afterwards, Wade and Bob went to speak in private while the boys continued playing. Wade told Bob about everything that happened last night and what was happening now.

"Shit Wade, what the hell did you get yourself into?"

"I wish I knew man, none of this makes sense" he shook his head.

There was brief silence as Bob tried to think of something.

"Is there anything I can do to help?"

"Oh no, you've done more than enough, and you don't need to get involved in something like this" Wade stated, almost pleading Bob not to get involved.

"What about those three?" he nodded towards the boys.

"What about them?" Wade asked.

"Are you sure you can trust them? I mean, not to sound jaded or anything, but they're kind of young and you did only meet them last night after all"

"Well, not that I have much of a choice, but yes, I do" Wade nodded. "Besides, they're all I've got, and I'm all they've got"

Bob smirked with an understanding nod. They were silent again for a moment as they watched the three play their game.

"Well, some good news for what's it worth, they didn't mention anything about three young men traveling with you, so that may give you an edge" Bob informed.

"Oh I'm sure the military knows about them too, or at least Pat, but hopefully you're right and that'll be of some help to us" Wade replied. "Did the news mention my real name? Or show my face?"

"No, they don't know who you are. They just have some security and traffic footage of you in the suit from around town. So, you won't hafta worry about that" he promised.

"Thank God" he replied.

"So, how bout that girl Molly?" Bob smirked, remembering how Wade spoke about her when telling his story, and Wade chuckled.

"Um, there's not really much for me to tell about her, Bob" he replied.

"Ah come on, was she cute?"

"What?!" Wade scoffed.

"I'm serious man, it sounded like she made quite an impression on you. You should ask her out when this is over"

"Yea, cos the few times we met and the given circumstances were clear signs that we belong together" Wade stated, half joking but half serious.

"Hey, sometimes the best couples meet in the strangest ways, me and Mandy sure did" Bob noted. "Besides, you may not get too many opportunities with this life"

Wade thought about it for a moment, giving Bob a side glance before turning back to the others. Bob certainly had a point, and he and Molly definitely seemed to have made a connection with their few, strangely interesting, meetings.

"Anyway, you sure those three will have your back?" Bob asked.

"Positive" Wade nodded.

"And you're sure there's nothing I can do?"

"Just make sure my family doesn't get caught up in this somehow"

"I will"

"With everything else you've done, that'll be more than enough. I'll even owe you one"

"Thanks, but you just make it out of this alive and we'll call it even"

"Deal" he nodded promisingly.

The two stood up so Wade could walk Bob out. During which, Bob reminded Wade to call his family and Wade promised he would. He also reminded Wade to think about their chat regarding Molly. Wade laughed before they made it outside, sharing goodbyes and wishing each other safety. Wade then returned to the others so they could continue their game. He hoped Molly was doing ok, and that she would in fact return before much longer.

After finally reporting back to her base, Molly had to go through some debriefing and questioning. They were a little suspicious on why it took her so long to get back, but she covered it up with having to wait so nobody would notice the flying, top secret machine. Now that all of that was finally over with, Molly had to do her part in collecting whatever she could and find out what was going on. There wasn't much she could get, main reason why she called Nin, but there had to be something she could find. She returned to the area she and the rest of the Foxtrots hung out at and headed off to the computer lab, which they were fully allowed to use. As long as, they didn't do anything they weren't supposed to. She took a seat at a round table with blockers on both sides, so she wouldn't need to worry about someone finding out what she was looking at. The tricky part however about this was that the computers were monitored, so she would still have to be extra careful about what she looked at. There was the off chance that either nobody was paying attention or even cared about what she was looking at, but that was a slim chance. Of course, Foxtrots looked at all sorts of stuff all the time, job related and outside of the job, but she still needed to be careful. She began pulling up files on all the different assignments she was involved in. She started by looking into the people she helped capture. She wanted to see why exactly they were taken, or if they even did anything wrong to be more specific, and where they were taken to. She also tried to find at least some of the people who were in charge. As she searched, she kept her eyes on the clock. She had to get the information right before it was time for her to leave in case she needed to make a quick getaway. Not only that, but watch in case she could get lucky enough to get these without anyone's notice. It wouldn't be much longer before she could leave, so she needed to be quick. As aforementioned, there wasn't much she could find, and all of the important stuff would likely come from Nin. She did however find some useful intel. It took some pretty clever, crafty typing, but she got some stuff she knew would be useful. She couldn't wait to show Wade what she got for him.

Ok, she needed to focus and not start daydreaming about him for whatever reason she was.

She was making good time so far. She could get all of this down on a drive and make it out in perfect time. She glanced around the room to make sure no-one was watching before taking out the hard drive that Nin gave her. It was supposed to be a highly advanced drive that could download things quickly, the stuff you're not supposed to be downloading, and without any security alert. She plugged it into the computer and got everything she needed within seconds. She took it out, closed out of everything and then got up to leave. There wasn't any tactical response team charging after her, so she seemed good at the moment. She just hoped it would stay that way.

She kept looking at her watch and saw that her time was up, she was set to go. She had to do an actual check out sort of deal, like it was an actual job, at the main office. But once that was done, she was out of here. She stayed vigilant the entire time she made her exit, knowing they could still pop up at any minute. She got to the elevators, hit the button, the doors closed and the elevator took her down. It seemed like she really was good, she made it.

The elevator doors opened after a few floors down. The few people who were in the elevator with her stepped out and were replaced by two suits. They kindly greeted her as they entered. Then, the man on Molly's right hit the button that she hit, taking away its light, before pressing another button, which would take them ten floors up. She furrowed her eyebrows at him before he turned with an assuring look.

"Sorry Captain, they still have some questions for you" he said.

"Oh, that's ok" she shrugged and the two men turned away.

Now she knew she was in trouble. Yes, it was possible he was telling the truth and they were just going to ask her some questions. But if she took that chance, then all of this would be for nothing. Wade would never get the information he needed, and he and the boys would be back to square one. Besides, this was way too close to not be that very case. Even if they were just a little suspicious, that alone could be the end of this. Molly had to make a choice, and a quick one at that. She had to take action.

Molly kicked the first guy on her right in the back of his shin, dropping him to one knee. She then immediately drove her elbow into his partner's face before kicking the crouching guy into the metal wall. The guy on her left then tried taking out his gun. She blocked off his arm and captured it before driving another elbow, this time into his armpit. She then kicked down on his knee, taking him down as well, before snatching the gun away. Rather then shooting them, she used the gun to support the straight hit she gave him before smacking his partner with it. She followed it with a chop to his throat before kicking his partner in the head. The guy on her left was now knocked out and the guy on her right was gasping for air. All it took was one last stomp to the head and he was out too. It was quick, deadly, and very effective. This danger was over.

However, this wasn't the only danger to arrive. There was a camera in that elevator and she knew they had to be watching. This was confirmed when she heard the building's alarm sound off. She took the gun she snatched away and shot the camera out. The elevator had been shut down, so she would be trapped in here until they sent a team after her. That is, unless she can find a way out. She glanced around the small space to find exactly that. She saw the hatchet door in the ceiling of the elevator. Knowing those couldn't be opened from the inside, she shot it open. She stuffed the gun in her pants before jumping and climbing her way out. Once on the roof, she searched around to see if they had any cameras in the shaft, only spotting one. She shot it out as well before searching for a new way out. She found the latter on the shaft wall by the elevator. She stuffed the gun back in her pants before carefully moving towards the latter, not wanting to trip on the millions of things up here. She got to the latter safely and began climbing down. She had to watch out for other cameras and get to the bottom safely. She couldn't sneak out through the air vents, they would've locked those down from standard protocol. She also couldn't get out by prying the doors open and hoping they wouldn't be there waiting for her. Luckily, she didn't have to. She carefully climbed down while keeping a lookout for other cameras. During which, she spotted a few other cameras and took them out. She slid down little by little, making sure she didn't get cocky and therefore caught. She got to the very bottom and found another hatch door on the floor there. It was put there for emergencies. It was locked as well of course, but Molly knew how to crack it open. She had to take the gun apart and use some parts for picking the locks, but it worked after a few minutes. When she opened it, something else caught her attention. The elevator doors on the bottom level, her level, were being pried open and a response team was outside, ready with guns. Molly practically threw the door the rest of the way open and jumped into the tunnel right as they fired.

Once she was down in the tunnel, she charged down the hall of pipes and began searching for a way out. Luckily, Molly knew her way around the base explicitly well. She ran around the corner and came across a manhole that led straight down into the sewers. The only problem was, this wasn't something you could just open with your bare hands. Molly quickly glanced around to see if she could find anything that could open it, seeing a crowbar stuffed between the pipes for safe keeping. Molly started to hear the distant voices further back and knew she had to move fast. She tore the crowbar out from the pipes and began digging it under the lid. She lifted it up and got it open enough to where she could enter. She got in and closed the lid just in time before the security team arrived.

It was nighttime now and after a nice long while of sneaking around, Molly finally made it out. She was now in an alleyway in the city, shown only by a hanging nearby light, and waiting for Nin to arrive. Of course, she also had to change her clothes beforehand as well. She saw her good friend appear out of the dark suddenly, carrying a small stack of files.

"The strings I had to pull to get these for you" she noted as she walked up to her. "This better have been worth it"

"Trust me, it was" she nodded.

"Are you sure about this though? Because this is some surreal shit here" Nin checked.

"I don't really have a choice now" Molly shrugged.

After a minute of making sure they weren't being watched, Nin handed the files to Molly.

"Be safe"

"Always am" Molly nodded and Nin left her with the files.

Molly took this moment to look through some of the material she just received. What she saw, even just from the first few pages, was fairly horrific.

"Oh my God, you fucking bastards"
