What I liked about this book:

The writing here was well-paced and easy to read. It didn't feel like it dragged anywhere, and I wasn't slogging through struggling to read it. There are glints of a very good story here, because it seems like the killer has snuck into Annabel's house and terrorized her younger sister before.

What I did NOT like about this book:

A few things.

First off, every single character is unlikeable as a person. It's fine to have characters that are bad people, but you need to give me a reason to root for them. Annabel makes fun of the appearances of others and stalks her ex boyfriend into the woods so she can make fun of his new girlfriend. Cindy literally drugs her best friend. No one else in the family has any personality for me to cling to. Basically no one here is relatable enough for me to give a shit.

Apart from that, this story doesn't know what it's about. It's listed as horror, but mostly I've just gotten teens partying and bumping uglies with one another. The story has started way the fuck too far back, since we're at chapter 22 and no one is dead yet. Pick a genre. Stick to that genre. Cross-genre books are a thing, but they usually still have a good idea of what they are and this doesn't.

Another thing...including these kinds of scenes is perfectly fine, but not just for shock value. There was no purpose for any of those poorly-written sex scenes. EVERY scene in a novel should be relevant to the plot. These were just here to shock the reader.

This could probably be a good book if it would ditch being a cheap chicklit book about nothing and actually focus on the horror piece.

Overall:

This was completely forgettable and had nothing special to say.

5/10. It's not god awful but I will have forgotten about it by tomorrow or the next day.
