Chapter Thirty-Two
Kenneth's POV
The journey to the Snow kingdom has been okay with the help of direction from the elves, Jade and his wife Rama. It wasn't just the two of them but a whole lot more of them because they planned to help us attack the kingdom.
I look around and my gaze find my alphas and beta. Three of my alphas are not looking great, though its a slight change but since I'm their Alpha, I've noticed it. I have a guess on what is causing that and I only hope they don't get affected too much due to the fight happening soon. I'll need all their strength to make things work perfectly.
"We will camp here for tonight!" Jade shouts and we stop walking.
I look for a perfect place to make our tent and with the help of the guys, we stand it in no time. It's a big tent for all eight of us. Someone comes to inform me that Jade wants me in his tent, so I leave the guys to go to him. I enter his tent just as he dismiss a group of his people. It looked like he was sending them somewhere, so I ask about it.
"We can't start a war with a handful of people. There are so many elf tribes that craves to attack the snow kingdom, so I've called for help. Together with the other tribes, we will attack the kingdom." He explains and I nod.
"I have people waiting for my message as well." I remember Roman's family.
"That's good. I'll send a messenger right away. With magic, he will travel fast to your kingdom."
I agree with him and he calls in someone. I write down a message to go with it and then he leaves. Jade brings out some maps and sets them on the big table. He motions me to stand beside him and I do that.
"We are here, and this is the Snow kingdom." He says while pointing on the map. We are very close to the kingdom. "We need to discuss battle plans and I need to inform you a few things."
"Then if it's about that, I'll need to have my alphas join me. They are all leaders and good battle planners. Together we can come up with something great." I state and he nods.
"Meet me in Jade's tent. Now."
It doesn't take long as they all fill in the room. Jade begins once again from the start and inform them of our location. He tells them of the messengers and how we can not attack before the other tribes arrive.
"The snow kingdom has a shield around it which makes it invisible. It requires the use of magic for one to see it. For that matter, it will need the use of magic for us to break the spell and make it visible for everyone." Jade explains.
"So what you mean is, once it is visible we can attack?" Isaac ask.
"Unfortunately, no."
"Why?"
"The kingdom is also fenced in with a huge steel gate that is opened by well trained guards using dark magic." Rama replies, joining the meeting.
"Damn." Shaun groans.
"What's the plan?" Ron ask while staring at Rama and her husband.
"That's why we need the other tribes help. We will need to work hastily on this part before the kingdom is alarmed of our attack." Jade says.
"There will be chosen powerful elves to perform the spell to make the kingdom visible. After that is done, the tribe leaders will then together work on opening the gate." Rama pauses then looks at me and say, "that's when you come in."
I think about what needs to be done for a minute and the room stays silent, waiting to hear what I say.
"Our main job is to rescue the captives. Everyone being held hostage by those witches will be rescued and no one will be left behind." I state and then take a price of paper and pen.
"We will be divided in three groups and each will have different motives. Once the gate is opened, it is expected that there will be guards that we will first face before the others will be sent to the gate. The first group will be the attackers and they will make way for the second group to go in. The second group will be the rescuers and their purpose will be to rescue the captives. The third group will be the defenders. Once captives are free, they will be defended and escorted to safety by this group." I say while writing down the details.
"Will the purpose just be rescuing?" Jade ask.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, are we going to deal with the royals or after rescuing the people we will fall back?" He clarifies.
"The royals have my mate and I know they will try to get in my way. They will be dealt with accordingly and we won't fall back without terminating the enemy." That's all I say.
It will also depend on the state I find my mate in. If they messed him up, I will gladly do the same to them. The elves magic has no effect on me and I can only hope it's the same with the royals. That way I will have an advantage but nothing will stop me to get my mate back.
"We will need to divide us in the three groups. Kayline, Shaun and Noah will lead the attacking group. Isaac, Ron and me will lead the rescue group. Sean, Zayne and Spencer will lead the defense group."
I continue making the plans with the group and everyone shares their idea and we discuss some more before finalising the plan. The meeting ends and we retire to our tent. Everything is set and all we need now is the coming people to make a go. Hopefully things will go as planned and I'll have my mate in no time.
**
"No!"
I wake up to the loud cry inside the tent. I see Isaac thrashing about and crying loudly. The other alphas wake up as well and I immediately go to his side and shook him to wake him up since it looked like he was still sleeping. We all surround him and after a few more shakes, he opens his eyes and tears come out. He grips my arm so hard that I wince from it.
"It hurts." He gasp and groan in pain.
"Go get me Jade." I order and Zayne run out.
"What's wrong with him?" Noah ask.
"His mate is in pain and the mate bond is sharing the pain which mostly goes to the dominant mate to reduce the suffering of the submissive mate." Kayline answers just as Isaac cry out again.
Chandler must be really in pain for Isaac to act this way. When he starts thrashing again, the others helps me hold him down. I curse when he starts shifting because he can go mentally insane if he shifts successfully. I quickly shift in my wolf form and growl out an order to keep his wolf in. He whimpers and the shifting stops. Jade enters the tent and I change forms to talk to him.
"I need you to use your magic to suppress his pain."
"It's the mate bond and I'm not sure if I can do that but I'll try my best."
We watch as Jade works on him. It takes him the rest of the night to minimize the pain and by the time he's done, the sun is rising. Isaac is put to sleep and I walk out Jade.
"This isn't good. We need your alphas to be strong for the battle but if this continues, it will put a dent in our plans." He sighs.
"I know. Let's hope that it doesn't happen to anyone else."
"Okay. By the way, two of the tribes will be arriving today evening." He informs me with a smile and I nod.
The day goes by in a blur as I train with my alphas and mostly Isaac. The determination look he has on his face scared the elves and we were left alone to train. He knows his mate is suffering and looks forward to rescue her but we have to wait for the others to arrive. The training helps him to reduce the anger and calm down a bit.
"That's it for today." I call out and the others retreat to camp for food since we had nothing all day. I stay behind with Isaac to talk.
"You don't have to worry about me. I understand the importance of us to wait and I won't act on my own. It will be stupid of me to do that anyway." He speaks before I do and chuckles. "I don't mind the pain because it let's me know that my mate is alive. She's a fighter and won't die easily. I will get her and bring her home with me; we will make babies and watch them grow. I'll get her."
I don't say anything and when he looks up at me, I smile in agreement. We will get our mates alive and we will take them home with us. I walk back to the camp with Isaac to have food and then we will rest for the day. After eating, I remain with Jade as my alphas head to our tent. He had asked me to wait with him and welcome the two arriving tribes.
"They are here." He tells me after waiting for some time and we walk out his tent to greet them.
"Welcome my brothers." He smiles at the two approaching men and they hug. "This is Gregor and Dimitri, my elder brothers." Jade says and then introduce me to them.
I greet them and wait until the tribes settle down for the night. I retire to my tent and lie down. Alpha Elijah and his kingdom are expected to alive tomorrow evening and some tribes will be here throughout the day tomorrow. Possibly we will be ready the day after tomorrow.
I'm almost asleep when I get interrupted by a sound. I groan and woke up, pressing my hand on the ground to feel the vibrations of something. I stand up and I feel the guys wake up and they all join me outside the tent. We stand alert, looking in the direction that whatever is causing the vibrations coming.
"What do you think is coming?" Kayline whispers beside me.
"I'm not sure but whatever it is, it's big." I reply.
"That's Devlin and Elsie coming." Jade who appears midst us, informs.
"But I thought they refused to help, so why are they coming?" Ron wonders and I look at Jade who shrugs.
"No idea."
We wait until the large elephants show up at the camp. Devlin and his mate change forms and he growls out a 'let's talk' and Jade escorts them to his tent. I follow them and so does Gregor and Dimitri.
"They took our son!" Devlin shouts angrily once we all get inside the tent.
"Who?" Rama ask.
"The witches. They took our son." Devlin explains.
He and his wife were out for weeks visiting other shifters since they rule over the forest and it's their job to make sure the forest inhabitants are doing fine. When they got home yesterday, they found their son had gone missing when he sneaked out to play with his friends.
"Does that mean-"
"We will attack those witches tonight." Elsie interrupts Jade with her statement.
"We can't do that. We have our battle plan and we will do things in order." Jade states and proceed telling them the plan.
"We will make some changes. Instead of waiting the tribes to get here for opening the gate, my kind will do that. All you have to do is to make the kingdom visible and we will break down either the wall of the fence or the gate." Devlin says.
"My people are not here yet and they have an important role in the attacking group. All I'm asking is to give them some time to get here. We can attack tomorrow evening." I suggest and we all wait to hear from Devlin. He groans and look at his wife.
"Fine. Tomorrow evening and that's it. No more waiting." He agrees and we go through the plan once again, making the changes were necessary.
By the time I retreat to my tent, I thought I'll find the guys asleep but they were waiting for me.
"Tomorrow evening." Is all I say and they nod in understanding.
