the party
I had my first day of work yesterday... and let me tell you... I really enjoyed it, surprisingly enough! ^~^
I'm going to try to update again soon, so hopefully I can!
How social are you?

Ace makes it back to the work place, once he gets there, most of the works already been done by the trainees who got off earlier than him. Also, he sees Shanks, someone he didn't expect to see, but also knew wouldn't miss out on the opportunity to drink at his company. The red-haired man is strange, but he owes him so much right now.
It seems that Ace owes a lot of people. He's in so much debt, it's not even funny. Once the older man sees him, he breaks off the conversation he was having with a few of the other female workers and walks over to him waving.
"Ace! I'm glad you could make it, I have a favor to ask of you in order to finish setting up the party!" he places an empty sack, like the one Santa would use around Christmas time in Ace's hand, before he leans in to the man's ear. "Gather up an item from every guy, you hear me, every male, who comes in. None of the other guys are here yet, except you and me of course. So you put something of yours in there, okay?"
"I knew I could count on you!" before he has anytime to respond, Shanks slaps him on the back, laughs, and walks away.
He lets out a sigh, unlatching the watch he always wears. His wrist feels bare without it, and it's been so long that he's forgotten why he never takes it off. He tosses it into the bag and lets out another sigh before he goes and stands by the entrance to the party.
Every time a guy passes him, he asks them to give him an item to place in the bag. He didn't have an answer when they asked why, just that their boss simply asks it of them. After that, they always obliged without a second to spare. Just mentioning the boss's name always strikes fear, especially if it's Shanks.
He's all happy and go lucky when you're nice to him, but get on his bad side, and you're in for a whole world of hurt. Everyone knows it, plus, Shanks is just better when he's happy. After a while, after the crowd dies down and Ace is sure that no one else is going to show up, he finds Shanks again.
"Here you go," he holds out the bag to the red-head and hands it off. "I have to go find Luffy."
"Hold up," Shanks puts his hand on Ace, stopping him from walking away. "We both know where Luffy is, so why don't you just stay here and chat with me and these nice ladies for a few minutes?"
Ace goes to say something, but stops when he sees (Y/n) walk through the door. He didn't get to greet her when she first ordered, and now that he actually sees her, he can tell she looks a little worried, "As much as I'd love to stay... I'm going to have to pass."
Shanks follows his gaze before he laughs and pats him on the back, "Sure. Go get her, Ace."
"What do you mean, get her? Shanks?" he turns back to look at Shanks but he's already walking back over to the girls, sack in hand. "Figures."
"Hey, Ace. You had it pretty rough when I came in, huh?" she tilts her head and gives him a forced smile. "What were you doing that made you so busy?"
"I had to get an item from each guy that came in," he scratches the back of his neck. "Not quite sure why, but that's what I contributed to this party. What were you in charge of?"
"I... had to bring paper plates and plastic utensils. It wasn't anything interesting such as getting an item from each guy," she chuckles and lets out a sigh. "I'm happy you're actually here though."
"Of course," he gives her a smile. "If I didn't come, I'd be murdered by Luffy. Plus, I'd miss out on seeing you in this outfit. You look great, (Y/n)."
"Thanks..." she feels her heartbeat pick up, and she can't but wonder why.
"Ace!!" Luffy plows right into the older man, giving him a big hug. "Have you tried the food here yet? It's amazing!"
"Speak of the devil," Ace rolls his eyes, places his hand on top of his head and ruffling his hair. "Of course it's good. Sanji was in charge, wasn't he?"
"Well, yeah," Luffy lets Ace go, giving him the opportunity to breath again. "That's true."
"Have you met Luffy yet, (Y/n)?" Ace looks at her while motioning to his brother. "He's my brother, and I don't know where I'd be without him."
"Eww, Ace! Gross!" Luffy sticks out his tongue, but gives him another hug anyway. "Anyway! Hi there! As Ace said, my name's Luffy! And someday, I'm going to become the best corporate owner ever! Hmm... that does feel quite right either... I'll figure out my catchphrase one day..."
She struggles to hold back a laugh, and it causes Ace to smile. This catches her attention, and before she can stop herself, she blurts out the question on her mind, "Why are you smiling?"
His eyes widen for a few seconds, but then he casts away his gaze. He places a hand on the back of his neck as he stares at the floor, his face becoming heated, "I was just thinking... that it's nice to see you actually smiling... happiness looks good on you."
Her heart skips a beat, maybe even several. Luffy shifts his eyes between the two of them, confusion on his face, "Do you two l-"
"Alright! Everyone! Gather around! It's time for the party games!" Shanks' voice rings out, interrupting Luffy and his thought process.
