Luckily my boss didn't fire me for missing that important meeting. He told me it was my last warning though. Also, he asked me to inform him if anything came up and I had to leave in the middle, and not escape like a convict stealthily. I think he was being really nice to me. I wondered if it was because he had loads of work assigned for me which he wanted me to badly accept. He seemed to be clever in his tactics but sometimes I was smarter. But in this case, the least I could do was follow his orders after missing that meeting.
I knew that he had been behind me for a particular project for the past one week. I think he believed that only I could handle this dealership.

I was actually known to be very good at communication and making good deals when it came to buying sites, and I knew many people envied me for it. But I didn't give a rat's ass about them.  My work was my number one priority and I always put everything I had into it.

As I seated myself into my office chair, my phone started to ring.
"Hello?" I said.
"Hello Navneet. Can you come to my cabin now? I need to have a word with you " my boss said, and immediately cut the call.

His cabin was just a few cubicles away on the same floor. As I walked there, I waved to some of the other staff on the way and politely nodded at them with a smile.
When I reached it, I knocked on the glass partition and after he had signed me to come in, I slid it aside and stepped in.

My boss's room was not a place I had visited often. Usually, he would see me during meetings or meet me in the halls or in seminar rooms. So I was surprised when he called me specifically there. I assumed it must be something important.

"Sit Down" he said, and I seated myself on the plush maroon velvet upholstered chair with a sigh. Then I looked up.

My boss wasn't such a stern person though and didn't make anyone feel uncomfortable so the first thing he replied was "I see you've taken a fancy to my chair" and chuckled.

"Haha yes sir, it's quite soft and cushiony"

He just smiled.

"So Navneet, I wanted to ask you to head this project."

The moment he said that I smiled. I knew this was what he must have called me for and I couldn't keep my emotions in.

He raised an eyebrow at me but I just shook my head.

"See, there's a plot we have been wanting for a really long while. And it's in an extremely beautiful location. The problem is that, our rival Sam's Developers are also fighting for it. And I know you are extremely good when it comes to negotiation and I trust you a lot when it comes to this company, so I think you would be ideal for the job. I've heard the girl from that company is pretty shrewd too but I think you know what you have to do right? Tempt them. Give them offers they can't resist. Bring the heavenly land to us," he said chuckling.

I just smiled. I already had an idea in my head and I knew nobody could resist my charisma or my tactics. So it was like we had already won.

Little did I know we were in for way more drama than I expected.
