-Chapter Thirty-Nine-
(Started writing this at like 1am cause I can't sleep so sorry if the beginning of this chap sucks.)
Frisk woke with a start, a scream lodged in her throat. She was woken up by some nightmare that she couldn't remember. The only things she remembered were the feelings of helplessness and fear.
"Frisk? You okay?" Chara rolled over, disturbed buy Frisk's sudden jolt into consciousness.
"Just a dream. I'm fine."
Chara rolled over and sleepily kissed Frisk. She smiled into the kiss, closing her eyes. The ominous feeling was quickly fading, and she soon drifted back to sleep.
The end.
It won't last.
You are powerless.
Hopeless.
Alone.
You will go down in infamy, child.
The supposed 'savior.'
Abandoned for your faults.
No matter what you do.
We will end,
Right
Here.
---
Frisk hummed, looking around. We should redecorate. Maybe a gray theme? Or, how about a-
"Mornin' babe." A sleepy Chara walked down the stairs, almost tripping.
"Hey Chara. Cory still asleep?"
"Yep." She sat at the table and put her head down, "Did mom leave any coffee?"
"Yeah, a bit, here." Frisk poured her a mug that Chara quickly began drinking, ignoring the fact that it had been sitting out for a while and wasn't very warm. Frisk grabbed her tea and sat next to her, where they were silent and sipping their drinks as Chara tried to fully wake up.
"You had a nightmare last night."
Frisk raised an eyebrow, "I did?"
"Yeah, woke me up too. Not complaining, of course."
"Mhm. What about?"
"I don't know, you didn't say."
"Mustn't have been too bad, then."
"You sure it wasn't a... a flashback?"
"Haven't had one since Cory was born, so I'm pretty sure it want that."
"Any plans for today?"
"Not really, it's not even ten and I'm bored already."
Chara smirked, "I can change that." She crashed her lips against Frisk's, causing her to laugh.
"You taste like coffee." She said licking her lips.
"Gee, I wonder why."
"Ooh, sarcasm. I like."
Chara rolled her eyes and smiled, downing the rest of her drink. She stood up before swaying slightly and sitting back down.
"Woah, dizzy."
Frisk giggled and stood, not getting dizzy, unlike a certain person.
"Well," she said, putting up their cups, "lazy day?"
"Sounds perfect." Chara smiled, "Sherlock?"
"Why not? I've heard it's good. Not a lot of episodes though."
"I know. Pity, really."
---
Frisk snuggled closer into Chara's side, relishing the warmth. The first episode was starting after they finally getting Netflix to work, a process that included a few not-so-short make out sessions and one vicious tickle war.
The embarrassingly familiar BBC logo appeared, and, without missing a beat, Cory began crying. They had brought his crib downstairs so they could keep an eye on him, so at least they didn't have to go upstairs to get him.
Once they got him to calm down, they started the series of tears and heartbreak. Many hours later, they had finished the second season, and both of them were practically fuming.
"How could they do that? It's not fair!"
"Uh, Frisk, there's still another season we could watch."
"No. I'm done with that show for now."
Chara laughed and stood up, stretching, "Okay, I need food."
It was around four in the afternoon, and they were both hungry. For lunch they had just eaten some random snacks.
Chara extended her hand to Frisk, who took it pulled herself up, "Dinner?"
Frisk hummed and nodded, sliding on her shoes. Grabbing her coat, she called out, "Hey, mom, could you keep an eye on Cory? He should stay asleep."
"Of course, child."
They both said goodbye to whoever was in the house. It was a nice day out, so they decided to walk instead of driving.
Frisk pulled Chara to her side smiling, "I love you."
"Same."
"Really?"
"What? I love me too."
Frisk glared at her, and she laughed.
"Kidding." She kissed her forehead, "I love you too."
Frisk turned her glare to the ground, "Why do you get to be taller than me?" she muttered.
"Because I'm older than you, short stack."
Frisk growled and stomped her foot playfully. Chara giggled and kissed her again.
---
Eventually, they got to their destination, a little restaurant called Watson's. Without saying anything, they both knew that was where hey we're going. It was where they went for their first date, which was around this time many years ago.
The restaurant was small and not well known, but it was good. They walked in and greeted the hostess, who directed them to a booth.
Frisk glanced around, "Memories, eh?"
Chara nodded, "It's been a while. Too long, really."
Frisk opened her mouth to say something, but a waitress came to take their order.
Once she left, they were quiet. Frisk still wanted to say something, but she didn't know how to say it. So, they just didn't talk.
---
"Come over here, there's an empty spot."
Chara followed Frisk to the empty patch of grass and laid beside her. By pure coincidence, they had overheard the couple sitting next to them talking about some event in the park. Still not knowing what it's about, they were already here and didn't feel like going home, so they figured it was best to find out.
"Ladies and gentlemen," a voice rang out from a microphone, "we welcome you!"
Who ever it was kept explaining about what was happening here, but Frisk had blocked them out and was looking at the sky, where one by one, stars were appearing.
The night was perfectly clear and beautiful. All around them, families and couples sat and talked and looked at the sky.
As he night grew darker and cooler, Frisk found herself growing cold. Chara felt her shiver and wrapped her arm around Frisk's shoulders, squeezing lightly. Frisk almost purred at her touch, causing Chara to laugh a bit.
Half an hour went by, and the sky was bright with stars. The clearing had gone silent, everyone was so caught up in, well, looking up. Frisk, despite the cold air, felt warm all over in Chara's embrace.
Chara stood up, careful not to disturb the people around them. She whispered about having to go to the bathroom and went off. After a minute, Frisk got up and followed her.
When she got to the restroom, she pushed the door open and called out,"Chara?"
There was no response, the bathroom was empty.
No one was there.
