-Chapter Ninteen-
Frisk stretched, pain shooting up her spine. She winced, catching the attention of Chara. She walked over and wrapped her arms around her. Frisk leaned her head on her shoulder, catching a whiff of Chara's strawberry shampoo. She sighed, pulling back.
"Well, mom wanted me. See you later, Chara."
Chara nodded and went back to putting the finishing touches on the crib they had ordered. As she walked down the hallway, a strange bolt of happiness jolted through her from out of nowhere. She shook it off, figuring it to just have been hormones. But the feeling happened again, then again. She found herself smiling, feeling contented and happy. She hopped into the kitchen, swaying slightly.
"Hello mom!"
"Oh, hello, my child. You're looking well."
"Thanks! What did you want to talk about?"
"I just wanted to say that I'm glad your emotions have improved. You've been quite happy these days."
"Yeah... I don't know what it is, but anytime I feel sad, or in pain, something runs through me and makes me happy again."
"That's probably the baby. You've almost been as cheerful as Chara. I think she's really excited to have another baby around."
"Yeah.. I guess she is. I think we're going to the forest soon."
"Right now, in fact!" Chara declared, walking into the kitchen,"Are you ready to go, Frisk?"
"Yep, I'm ready. Um, are we bringing any food, or-"
"Way ahead of you, love. I packed a picnic basket to take, it's in the fridge."
Frisk pulled it out, noting the red and white checkered blanket, "That's pretty cliche, don't you think?
Chara grinned,"You know me, 'Cliche Chara'."
Frisk giggled,"Yes, that's my little cliche child. Now, are we going to the forest by the mountain?"
"Nope! We're going somewhere Azzi found the other day. We'll have to cut through the backyard."
And so they left. After about a ten minute walk, they came across some old monument or something. It had a crumbling statue by it, and a rather large bronze plaque.
Frisk approach it, running her fingers over the words.
"Not all humans wanted war,
Many preferred peace,
for there was no reason to fight.
But things changed,
The world became cruel.
Forced, we found ourself with a choice.
Allow monsters to roam free,
Or rid the land of their presence.
No humans were lost in the dreadful war,
But dust covered the land for weeks.
We did not want this.
We are sorry.
If only we could reset.
Rest your soul,
Tami, Princess and true hero of the Monsters."
As Frisk finished reading aloud, she felt tears pricking in her eyes. Humans had paid tribute to this fallen monster, whoever she was. Perhaps the humans hadn't started the war purely out of spite. Perhaps, as the plaque said, they were forced to fight. She shook her head, turning to Chara, who was looking at the statue.
"The statue," she murmured,"it kinda looks like mom."
Sure enough, the old statue seemed to hold some of the qualities of the Royal Family. It was hard to tell, though. It was covered in moss, and seemed decades and decades old. Frisk was surprised she could read the plaque. But that seemed to be brand new, a shiny bronze that was completely out of place in the old forest.
Frisk touched it again, and felt a strange jolt, like electricity thrumming beneath her skin. She jerked back, a somber and slightly scary feeling coming over her.
"This isn't where we're staying, is it? I don't like it here."
"No, this isn't it. Asriel never mentioned this place. I wonder why. Let's go."
They began walking, leaving the strange place behind. After a few minutes, the sound of running water could be heard. Frisk puffed, a wave of tiredness washing over her.
"Can we stop for a bit? I'm getting tired."
"Just a little bit farther, Frisk. Then we'll be there."
Frisk nodded, sighing. Soon, they came across a stream, then a lake. Frisk gasped as she took in the view. The water wasn't clear, far from it, actually. But it was still beautiful. Lush green bushes grew around the clearing, blooming with flowers of all colors.
Frisk walked over to one of the bushes. It was dying, half of the leaves on the ground and hardly more than a pile of sticks. But it yielded the most beautiful rose. Frisk caressed the rich red petals, knowing it wouldn't survive long. Closing her eyes, she pulled it off the bush and walked back to Chara, who had already set up all the food.
"Here. A rose for my rose."
"Thanks, love! But, I think it'll look better on you."
Frisk giggled and sat down, taking the sandwich Chara was holding for her. She bit into it, staring at the sky. They finished their sandwiches, then Chara pulled out chips and chocolate bars. Chara pulled chocolate bar after chocolate bar out the basket. It seemed to be endless.
Frisk raised and eyebrow,"Think you've got enough chocolate yet?"
Chara laughed,"Never!"
They giggled, both unwrapping a chocolate bar. Frisk bit into hers, feeling it melt on her tongue. She swallowed, taking a drink of her water. After a few minutes of silence, Chara turned to Frisk, her eyes glinting mischievously.
"What do you want, Chara?"
"What? I don't want anything, what are you talking about?"
"Yeah, sure. I know that look in your eyes. Spit it out."
"Okay~ If you really want me to~"
"Cha-ra!"
"Okay, okay. Wanna skinny dip?"
Hey guys. Enjoy this peace, because a large plot twist is approaching rapidly >:3
Tami is my OC, so if you read that chapter in my art book you know who she is. Sorry this chapter is really short, I kinda got writers block on this chapter. Oh, about that last chapter in my art book, don't worry about me. I-I'm fine. I promise...
