Chapter Nineteen: Hiro in Denial
"So, (Y/N), how was your first day at SFIT? Or should I say, night?" Your dad laughed at his own joke as he slid a waffle onto a plate.
You shrugged when he set the plate in front of you. "It was okay."
Michiko sat down across from you with a bowl of fruit. "Aren't you going to San Fransokyo High this year?" she asked, biting into a strawberry daintily.
You shook your head and stared at your breakfast. Next to Michiko, Hoshi looked up from her yogurt. You gave her a look that said, Yeah, I'm not going. Aren't you glad? Hoshi looked back down.
"Well," your dad said brightly. "I have a business meeting today, so I'll get going soon." He set his coffee mug down on the table. "Do you need a ride to SFIT, (Y/N)?"
"No." Tadashi was picking you up.
"Alrighty then! See you all later!" Your dad bounced to the living room, grabbed his briefcase, and practically danced out the door.
You finished your waffle and put your plate in the sink. The doorbell rang, and you open the huge white door to reveal Hiro, looking at his phone. He looked up, then shoved the phone into his pocket. "Oh, hi, (Y/N)."
"Hiro," you said flatly.
"Aren't you going to SFIT?" Hiro furrowed his eyebrows.
"Well. . . yeah. But I thought Tadashi was driving me there."
"Who is it, (Y/N)?" Michiko appeared behind you. She noticed Hiro. "Oh. . . hello."
Hiro nodded politely. "Can I talk to (Y/N)?"
"Yes, come in," Michiko opened the door wider, and Hiro stepped inside.
"Mom!" Hoshi stepped out of the dining room, running a hand through her wavy brown hair. "I'm going to Akemi's later."
Hiro noticed Hoshi. He stared at her slightly messy hair and pink T-shirt matched with black pajama pants.
You rolled your eyes. "Hiro, she has a boyfriend," you muttered under your breath.
He smirked at you. "Jealous much?"
You sighed. "What do you need to talk about?"
He glanced upstairs. "Can we go to your room?"

You sat, slouched, on your swivel chair as Hiro looked around your room. "Hiro, just say it. I need to get to SFIT."
He turned to you. "Where's the reciept?"
"What?" You raised an eyebrow.
Hiro held out a hand. "The receipt for the bear."
"Why do you need it?" You sat up.
"Just give it to me," Hiro said coldly.
Confused, you reached into your sock drawer and pulled out the crumpled paper. "What is this for?" you asked.
Hiro snatched it from you. "I didn't buy the bear for you, got it?" He tore the receipt in half.
"But you did." You stood up. "What's so bad for that?"
"Remember what I said, (Y/N)? You're just a rich snob girl." Hiro leaned into your face. "Don't forget it."
You stared into his brown eyes, which were like three inches from yours. You noticed caramel flecks in his brown orbs, and how his eyebrows were raised questioningly. Tufts of black hair fell over his forehead.
"Are you checking me out?" Hiro smirked, stepping back.
You blushed. "Of course not!"
"Yeah, 'cause you like Tadashi," Hiro grumbled. "Okay, bye." He turned to leave. "Oh, and everything that happened at SFIT. . . didn't happen. Okay?"
You didn't answer.
"Okay?" Hiro pressed.
"Yeah, whatever, like I care." You plopped back onto your chair, scowling. When Hiro opened the door to leave, you called out, "But you gave me the bear."
"No, I didn't," Hiro looked back at you, his eyes like chips of ice. "I never did anything for you, and I never will."
