Their Other Half

"Well, I guess we'll have to make a quick trip over to our place for the stuff."

"Mhm, I call the information." "Just make sure not to drop anything again." "It was that one time!" "And it almost got us caught!" Yumiko pouts at her brother's words before he ruffles her hair affectionately.

"Just hurry up. Get your mask and glove. We can't have them knowing." "Mm, I'll be out. Wait for me at the lounge." Her older brother nods and leaves as Yumiko opens a drawer, pulling out the same masquerade mask, pulling it on.

She was walking out to the lounge just as she was pulling on the leather glove onto her right hand. "I'm ready."

As she straps the glove on, Soryu notices a small, black mark on her hand, which connected to her wrist.

The two had changed outfits, both wearing black jeans and leather jackets. So far, the only difference was they were wearing different shirts. With 'Yang' wearing a dark red shirt, 'Yin' a navy blue shirt. Heck, they were both wearing the same combat boots.

"Alright, let's go." "Yang, we talked about this. Might as well." he turns around.

Her brother sighs and gives up, turning to their group. "We need to talk to you."

"What?" Eisuke asks, raising a brow. "Figured if we're going to be in a group together, we talked it over and thought we should at least say our names." Yumiko remarks, nudging her brother to her side, who was still hesitant about the idea.

"On with it then," Soryu quips from beside Eisuke and for once, Yumiko starts. "I'm Yumiko Akiyama." she introduces herself, but when her brother shuts his mouth, Yumiko whispers something to her brother and he grins, stepping up.

"I'm Yukio Akiyama. Her brother."

The bidders stare at them strangely, as if expecting something. "What?" they asked in unison, honestly a little crept out.

"Ain't you going to take of the masks?" Mamoru comments from the side, letting out a puff of smoke.

"Now that..." Yukio grins. "Isn't permitted just yet. We don't trust you that much."

"Seriously?! Come on, I want to see your face pretty lady," Baba throws an arm over Yumiko's shoulder, giving her a flirty wink.

"Okay, Lupin, take your hands off my sister." Yukio glares at the thief, gesturing to his little sister. "Oh come on, Yuki! I just want to have fun!" Baba laughs, tugging the assassin's sister closer to him. "Yuki?" Yukio raises a brow at the name, and the thief shrugs, saying they could be all 'closer' that way.

"First, never call me that. And second, I'm not saying it again. Let go of my sister." "Jeez, Yukio! Come on, have some fun."

Yumiko was seething but she had no weapon, and her arms were trapped as she was squeezed against Baba, limiting her movement.

"Alright, I tried playing nice." The boy rushes to Baba's side, dagger in hand. "Let go of her, Mitsunari." he growls, holding the blade dangerously close to the man's neck. He releases the identical sister and places his hands up.

"I'm s-sorry!"

Yumiko pats herself off and walks to her brother's side. "Alright, new rule, Yumi. Always carry a dagger and gun around." Yukio warns and the girl nods before turning to the bidders.

The two leave with a few goodbyes and never return until 4 hours later. "We're back." they call together as they stride into the room. But the next sight sort of disturbed the twins as women twine themselves around the bidders, who seemed to enjoy the company, apart from Soryu and Mamoru, who were staring at the women with lazy disgust.

"This is disturbing, I'm out of here." Yukio shrugs, scared as he turns away, leaving. Yumiko stares at the men before leaving herself, the different direction, away from her brother.

~*****~

She found herself alone on the roof as she massaged her temples. She looked up to the stars in the sky, thinking about the events of her life, was she was abandoned, taken in, and finally became an assassin.

But along with the thoughts, she couldn't help but think about her parents, missing them even for just this moment.

Yukio has forbidden her to think about them, getting rid of everything left of them. Not them of course. He had gotten rid of whatever reminded her of them, pictures, mementos... Everything.

She couldn't even make out their faces anymore. She could only ever remember a blonde and ravenette couple, and the wife wearing a beautiful diamond moon crescent necklace. Nothing more, noting less.

The door to the roof opens quietly and she could hear footsteps approaching her, but perhaps the person hadn't noticed her. She sits at the edge of the roof, looking out to the vast city.

She could hear a deep voice call out to her quietly.

"Oh... Yumiko."

She turns to see Soryu, who sits beside her at the edge. "Hm, why're you here? Seems like the women in there loved the company." she teases with a smirk, but never glances at him anymore.

"It stinks in there. Women wear too much perfume."

"Well sorry, I must stink as well." she chuckles. "No... Not you..."

"Interesting. So I'm different, hm?" "I guess." the man chuckles as well, but goes stiff when her head suddenly falls onto his shoulder. "Sorry... I'm really tired."

"What did you even do this past day?" "Killing. What else?"

"I don't know, visiting your parents?"

"I don't have parents." "But didn't you call your boss 'father'?"

"He adopted us, only to train us. Our parents abandoned us."

He was quiet, and so was she until she got up, turning to leave. "Sorry, I need to go. I have to talk to Yuki. Some... family matters. Can't really trust anyone here. Only him."

"Why not?"

She begins closing the door behind her as she answers quietly.

"He stuck by my side my whole life without hurting me. Each betrayal begins with trust. That's why I only trust myself and him."

Her words stuck in the mobster's mind as she disappeared back into the hotel. He thought about the mysterious woman, how her pure silver hair glittered in the moonlight.

How she laughed and smile for a moment.

How her beautiful, rare eyes simmered with pain as she looked up to the stars.
