Chapter 25

"Shit!" Izuku hissed, sitting bolt up right in bed and scaring Hanta awake.

The hero was up in a second, flipping on the bedside lamp and scanning the room for whatever danger made Izuku freak out. He was still blinking sleep from his eyes, but he found nothing out of the ordinary, looking over to his sort-of boyfriend with furrowed brows.

Izuku had already gotten out of bed, scrambling to throw on a hoodie.

"Where're you going?" Hanta asked, swinging his legs over the side of the bed as he forced himself to be fully alert. "What's wrong?"

"I need to find Kacchan," Izuku vaguely explained, hopping on one foot as he tried to get his shoes on.

"At..." Hanta trailed off as he grabbed his phone to check the time, "three in the morning? Can't it wait?"

"Unfortunately, no," Izuku grumbled, finally managing to get one shoe on. Now he just had to do the other. "I was supposed to tell him days ago, but it slipped my mind."

"Tell him what?"

Izuku couldn't tell if it was jealousy or genuine concern he was hearing in the pro's voice. "Remember when he killed me? I was covering for Shigaraki and Chisaki while they were making a deal over quirk eraser."

"Quirk erasers have been in circulation for years," Hanta sighed, running a hand down his face. "Can't it wait 'til tomorrow?"

"Enji Todoroki wasn't buying them years ago, he bought them days ago and they're meant for Kacchan," Izuku finally admitted. He'd originally planned for only Bakugou to know, since he was the intended target. The more people who found out, the more likely it would be for the villains to figure out Izuku was the information leak.

Hanta balked at his words. "Todoroki? As in Endeavor?"

"That's the one," Izuku said with a single nod, now on a mission to find his phone. He hated leaving the house without it, what if something happened and Toga or Hanta or whoever needed him, couldn't reach him? "Still bitter his license was revoked and double bitter his protégé isn't the new number one."

"Iz," Hanta called, redirecting the villain's attention from finding his phone to him. "Just call him," he said while handing over his own device.

"Oh."

Hanta quietly laughed as Izuku quickly found the right contact (he figured 'Blasty' was probably the guy he was looking for) and dialed. It rang all the way through before being sent to voicemail.

"He's probably sleeping, it's three A.M. and Bakugou's never been a night owl," Hanta said with a shrug, remember their high school years when the blond religiously went to bed at eight thirty.

Izuku shook his head as he threw Hanta's phone back to him. "He's on patrol tonight, which is why I need to find him."

Hanta stretched his arms up over his head with a loud groan and climbed to his feet. "Well, let's go find him, then."

A hand and soft smile was offered to him in return. As much as Izuku didn't like carrying Hanta around on his own business, he couldn't deny that having the hero at his side was a comfort.

"Do we have to teleport?" Hanta asked in a low whine. He didn't think he'd be much help if he was sick to his stomach the whole time.

"Compromise. I teleport us outside and then you can swing the rest of the way," Izuku offered, a small smirk taking place of his smile. "If you can keep up."

Hanta shook his head with a chuckle, finally taking Izuku's hand. "Won't be a problem, lightning bug."

"We'll see."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Izuku was pleasantly surprised to find that Hanta could keep up. As the villain expertly propelled himself with One For All, the hero wasn't a second behind with his tape. He'd come a long way since their last game of tag and Izuku felt the warmth of pride in his chest at the improvement. That was his hero.
Izuku paused on the roof of a building in the prefecture Bakugou was charged with, Hanta narrowly avoiding passing him as he didn't realize right away that he'd stopped.
"If I was Kacchan at three A.M., where would I be?" he asked himself quietly, eyes scanning the night for any sign of the number one hero.
"Not up here," Hanta answered, squinting into the dark below. "He'd have to fire off explosions to get up here. It'd cause too much noise this late."
Izuku nodded his agreement, already guessing that. "Really makes you wonder why he wanted all these night shifts, doesn't it?"
"Never really understood why he asked for them."
"He was looking for me," Izuku said in an offhanded tone. He had thought it was obvious, but apparently not.
Hanta raised a brow, looking away from the streets in favor of the villain. "Really? He told you that?"
"Didn't need to, I just know."
"You just know?" Hanta didn't sound convinced.
"I know everything about Kacchan," Izuku said with a shrug. That's the way it had always been. They were basically raised together, learning each other's habits since birth.
"Everything?" Hanta couldn't believe it, mainly because he was pretty sure Bakugou didn't even know everything about himself.
"Mhm," was the half-hearted response he received. Izuku was locked in and only kind of paying attention to their conversation.
The dark-haired man shook his head, crouching down as he looked over the edge of the building once again. "I don't believe that for a second."
"You don't have to, but I know where he is," Izuku said before taking off without any more warning.
Hanta had enough time to roll his eyes before he was on the other man's heels. With a few more hops and leaps, the villain landed on the road below, a few blocks down from where they had first stopped.
"Oh, Kacchan!" Izuku called into the darkness with a sing-song voice.
"I'm not beating the shit out of you, Deku. Go away."
Hanta blinked at his friend's voice. Maybe Izuku really did know everything about the blond, because as far as he could tell, there was absolutely no indication that Bakugou would have been at this specific alley way.
"Lame," the villain said with a pout, "but not why I'm here."
"Tape face? What the fuck are you doing here?" Bakugou's voice asked gruffly as he stepped into the light emitting from a near by street lamp.
Hanta just shrugged, deciding to go with the flow as he usually did when it came to Izuku. "Moral support."
Bakugou looked between the two of them with his lips pulled back in disgust. "Whatever weird fetish this is, leave me out of it."
"Be more heroic, Izuku," the villain mumbled, clearly pissed off after only a two second conversation with his childhood friend. "Save more lives. Be good. Stop killing people. This is what happens when I try!"
Bakugou raised an unamused brow while crossing his arms over his chest. "What'd you want then?"
"You didn't hear this from me," Izuku whispered, being overdramatic for the sake of it. Over the years, he'd been come to be known as psychotic in villain circles, but that wasn't it at all. He just got bored very easily and needed to keep things interesting for himself. "Endeavor's got his greedy little mitts on some quirk erasing bullets that he's planning to unload into you."
The number one hero slowly blinked down at him. "Is that all?"
Izuku sputtered, unable to help it with Bakugou's lack luster response. He figured he'd get a way better reaction from the hero and to say he was disappointed would be an understatement. "Is that all? I woke myself up from a dead sleep to come tell you that. It's kind of life saving information."
"Life saving information I already had, right after our fight in that office building," Bakugou explained, sounding more tired than usual. "You act like it's hard to spot a six-five brick wall trying to sneak out a window. We had citizens phoning it in."
Hanta slowly wrapped an arm around Izuku's shoulders, bringing him into his side as he addressed his friend. "You're telling me we didn't have to get up at three in the morning to save your life? You already knew?"
"Yup," Bakugou said with a mean laugh, always finding joy in Hanta's suffering (or at least the light suffering, like having his sleep interrupted). "Guess Deku doesn't actually know everything."
Izuku pushed Hanta off him with an annoyed growl under his breath. "It would have been fine if Hanta had just let me keep my telepathy quirk. Then I wouldn't have needed to leave the house to let you know."
Bakugou's laughter increased in volume before he could reply, calming down after only a few seconds. "Why the hell did you do that, tape face?"
"Because it was Mandalay's quirk!"
Upon hearing that, Bakugou reached out one hand and swiftly smacked the back of Izuku's head, earning a hiss and curse from the villain. "Stop stealing heroes' quirks."
"Oh, but everyone else is fine?" Izuku pressed, intent on proving their own hypocrisy to them. Izuku was a bad person who did bad things, usually to those who deserved it, but not always. He could admit that. Heroes, on the other hand, seemed physically incapable of admitting that sometimes, being fair and just, doesn't work. Half of them give up, the other half follows through and looks around to say "Well, it couldn't have possibly been me, I'm a hero.
"Stop stealing quirks all together, then," Bakugou snapped back not even a second later.
"Sure, sure," Izuku said with a nod. "Let me get right on that, then us and the rest of the world can die together when the villain's I've been holding back for you guys are no longer kept in check."
"We get it, Iz," Hanta sighed, grabbing his hand and pulling him back to his side. He'd been itching to do it since Izuku had originally pulled away. "Sometimes you have to be the villain to save the world. You proved your point."
"Good," he huffed, resigning himself to his fate of being glued to Hanta's side. "Speaking of villains, I also need to talk to Aizawa, so I guess this little trip wasn't totally in vain."
"He's like two blocks down, what'd you need with him?" Bakugou asked, his red eyes narrowed in accusation. Just because the shorter man wanted to save his life, didn't mean it would be the same for his former teacher.
"Adorable, just adorable, Kacchan," Izuku said with an amused shake of his head. He brought one of his hands up, inspecting the nails. "Anyways, I know Aizawa's on the roof of the building across the street, ready to activate his quirk to cancel out mine at the first sign of a conflict."
"What?" Hanta asked immediately, whirling around and squinting his eyes for any sign of his old teacher. Surprise, surprise, he got a quick glance of a scarf before a dark figure was lowering to the ground.
"I know everything," Izuku said in a somber voice, one hundred percent serious.
Bakugou, being petty and well, just Bakugou, crossed his arms. "You didn't know that I already knew about Endeavor."
Izuku winked at him, taking a few steps back in the direction of Aizawa. "Or did I and it was all just for dramatic effect?"
"What'd you want from me, problem child?" Aizawa asked with a tired sigh, half his face hidden behind his scarf that Izuku knew he sometimes used as a neck pillow.
One second, Aizawa and Izuku were facing each other, both relaxed in posture and ready to have a productive conversation. The next second, Aizawa was flipped on his back, his own capture weapon being used against him to pin his arms to his side while Izuku held an elbow to his throat.
"What the hell?" Bakugou shouted, taking a step forward to try and throw the villain off, but he was stopped by Hanta.
The dark haired pro had conflicted feelings about the scene in front of him. On one hand, a villain was clearly threatening his old teacher and current boss. On the other hand, it was Izuku. He knew the shorter man wouldn't be throwing Aizawa around on an abandoned street without any sort of reason. In that moment, he had to make a decision, the heroes or Izuku.
He chose Izuku.
"Wait," Hanta mumbled, not taking his eyes off of Izuku. He was looking for any sign of what the fuck the other man was really up too.
On the ground, Aizawa instantly activated his quirk, trying to brute force his way out of Izuku's hold. It only made the villain give a dark chuckle.
"I don't need a strength quirk to knock you on your ass, Eraser," he taunted, tightening the binds just because.
Aizawa didn't drop his quirk, his hair standing up as he kept trying to shimmy out of the hold. "What the hell are you doing?" he asked through clenched teeth, not having any clue as to what set the villain off.
Izuku tugged on the scarf again, knowing that soon it would start constricting the hero's breathing and not giving a flying fuck. "You're gonna tell me why Emiko is so scared of you, she needed me to walk her to class. I fed her to the wolves and snapped her neck and she still felt safer with me, so what the fuck did you do?" His voice was icy calm, sending shivers down all three heroes' spins.
Hanta blinked as he wrapped his head around what Izuku had just said. Once he was sure he had heard right, he drug a hand down his face with a sigh and reached one hand out to pull Izuku off by his hood. "Iz, she's scared of him because of me."
Izuku landed on his ass with a huff, glaring daggers up at Hanta. "Well, what the hell did you do?" he snapped, annoyed that he couldn't beat the ever loving shit out of the hero that had annoyed him for years.
"Told her he was terrifying? Like any big brother would?" Hanta said like it was obvious (it was, Izuku just had no concept of being an actual sibling). "Seriously, what's the point of having a bunch of little sisters if you don't mess with them?"
Izuku silently climbed to his feet and took a second to brush himself off. Then, he launched a fist straight into Hanta's gut, who doubled over from the force even though there was no quirk usage involved. "She almost had a fucking panic attack in the hallway. Tomorrow morning you're telling her that you lied and Aizawa is actually a big fucking teddy bear, who cried when he sees a stray cat, got it?"
Hanta, who was holding his stomach and trying to catch his breath, could only vigorously nod his head in agreement.
"How the fuck are you a villain?" Bakugou asked while rubbing at his temples. "You just tried to take out a hero because a little girl was scared of him?"
Izuku just shrugged, holding out a hand to Aizawa to help him to his feet. The hero gave him a deadpan look, but accepted the offer anyway. "I do not cry when I see a stray cat," he grumbled, messing with his scarf to get it back in place.
Izuku patted his shoulder in a condescending manner. "Unfortunately, I do know everything, Eraserhead."
Hey, not dead. Here's your chapter. I'm gonna be so fr rn, I do not know where this is going anymore.
