It was a Saturday afternoon. Most of the students at Transformer Academy were out in town, or some were in their dorm rooms or the library, following their usual routines.
But within the school's grounds, inside one of the large gyms, someone was training while muttering to herself about lessons on Physics and Philosophy.
It was none other than Optinessa Prime, the president of the Autogals, a beacon of justice and beauty.
Optinessa's POV:
"They all need me. I have to be strong for them."
I muttered as I continued my daily routine of 700 sword strikes. I was already at 600 and had no idea how long I'd been at it. While training, I was also memorizing and reciting philosophies for the upcoming quiz.
Sweat drenched my entire uniform, and my hands felt numb. I was panting heavily, the sound echoing throughout the empty gymnasium.
But I have to do this. I must do this. If not, who will stand up to the lowerclassmen? Who will protect my friends? Who will keep peace in the school?
"Ngh... focus. The Marxist approach... is the..."
I continued with my strikes and my strange method of studying, driven by my position as the president of the Autogals and my pride as a warrior.
"I have to be stronger for them... HAH!"
"I have to be stronger than HER... HYAH!"
I said through gritted teeth, exhaustion beginning to slow my movements as I raised my wooden sword above my head, ready for the final 700th strike.
"I have to protect hi-"
"Optinessa!"
. . . .
Y/N's POV:
Finally, thank god I finished studying. Ever since Soundwave revealed her true self to me and agreed to be my study partner with her perfect grades, I thought, 'Sweet! A cute girl is going to tutor me!' But... I didn't know her teaching methods were a bit stricter than I was used to with Optinessa.
I haven't seen Optinessa in a while. I wonder where she's been? She's always so busy with her duties as the president of the student council and the Autogals. Oh, and did I mention she's a top member of the school's kendo club? They hold yearly competitions against other schools, and they haven't lost a single one.
And apparently, Megatron is a member too. They're always battling each other to see who's the strongest fighter, or so I heard from Sam and the gang.
Walking through the school, it was already afternoon, and there was a nice breeze. It's a little lonely being by myself, but I sometimes forget how peaceful it is.
As I passed by the gym, I caught sight of a familiar figure-those unmistakable blue eyes from a silhouette-which made me stop in my tracks.
Peering through the slightly open doors, I was right. There she was-Optinessa Prime. And... wow, it looked like she was training and studying at the same time?
This is why I admire her-and why she's my first crush. God, I could watch her all day... but technically, that would be stalking, and I don't want to get in trouble. So I just walked in and, with a smile, called out her name.
"Optinessa!"
. . . .
Optinessa's Pov
Just as I was about to land the final strike, someone called my name from behind, surprising me. But I already knew who it was. It was him. It was Y/N.
I must've been so startled that my grip on the sword slipped, sending it flying toward the wall in front of me, where it lodged itself in the plaster. I hope I didn't scare him too much with my strength... that'd be embarrassing. Wait, I wonder how long he's been watching me? I'm all sweaty... gosh, this is such a bad time to be alone with him!
"sigh... And that's six hundred ninety-nine and a half."
Y/N's POV:
"Training for kendo, I take it? And you were mumbling something about philosophy, right? It's really cool that you're training and studying at the same time."
I mean, it's pretty cool and expected of someone like her to do both. How could I blame her? She looked awesome while doing it.
Looking down at the mat, which was soaked with her sweat, I could tell she had been at it for a while. I glanced up at her drenched uniform... almost see-through. Wait, is that her bra or just the outline of her uniform?
"Y/N, I wasn't expecting you to see me like this. But yes, I'm training and studying at the same time."
Optinessa turned toward the bench to grab a towel from her bag, wiping off her sweat as I walked over and leaned against the wall, hands stuffed in my pockets.
"And might I ask why you're here? Watching me must be pretty boring. Shouldn't you be with your friends or doing something more interesting?"
She smiled... god, she's beautiful, especially with that little sheen of sweat on her skin. She looked even more attractive-wait, stop simping, Y/N. Stop staring!
"Uh, yeah, I-Sam and the others are out in town. I just finished a study session with Soundwave. She agreed to help with my math."
At the mention of Soundwave, Optinessa looked up from her drink and at me. Her expression was a little tricky to read, but it seemed like she was somewhere between surprised and... disappointed?
"Oh, I see... how did it go with Soundwave? Did her help improve your math?"
Optinessa's POV:
At the mention of Y/N's study session with Soundwave, I felt an unexpected pang of disappointment. I shouldn't feel this way.
I tightened my grip on my water bottle and forced a smile.
"She's really good at math. I don't know how she finds the right formulas, but she's... a little scary. Still, I think she helped."
I couldn't help but giggle a little. Watching him explain his thoughts so expressively... it's different when I'm with him compared to my friends. But why does it feel... different?
Ba-dump.
"Y/N, there's an upcoming quiz for math, you know. And I know how hard the midterm and final exams can be. So... if you'd like, I can personally tutor you?"
I've never found it this hard to offer tutoring to someone before. I've helped plenty of students, including some of the boys. But with him, why is it different? I just want to help him pass, but... why do I feel this way?
Y/N's POV:
"Y/N, there's an upcoming quiz for math, you know. And I know how hard the midterm and final exams can be. So... if you'd like, I can personally tutor you?"
She said it while turning her face slightly to the side, tucking a stray lock of hair behind her ear, her cheek flushing pink. She struggled to make eye contact with me.
She... is an angel.
"If it's alright, I'd really appreciate the help. I'm free after classes."
I chuckled sheepishly, rubbing the back of my neck. Inside, though, I was thrilled at the thought of spending alone time with her. Okay, I also wanted to improve my grade, but... who wouldn't want a private tutor as beautiful as her?
"Wonderful, Y/N. Then meet me after your classes at the student council office. I'll see you soon, and I hope I can help improve your grades."
She smiled once more, the breeze from outside the gym blowing her blue hair to the side. Her beautiful eyes sparkled with kindness, and for a moment, it felt like time stopped.
Ba-dump. Ba-dump. Ba-dump!
. . . .
Optinessa's Pov:
Stepping out of my bathroom after a hot bath felt wonderful after a tiring day. I walked over to sit at my desk by the mirror, brushing my wet hair as I looked at my reflection.
I've already asked to tutor him, and he said yes, but... why do I still feel this way? Why is my heart still fluttering like this? This type of feeling was rare and... is this what Bee calls a crush?
Growing up in the Prime family, I was always expected to have perfect grades and a perfect attitude-one devoid of silly emotions like love. Even my sister, Ultra Magna, had fully adopted the Prime mentality. (taken from ultra Magnus)
But I was happy that my friends were there to show me life beyond my normal ideology of being perfect and having to be perfect... and I guess he also played a small role in it.
Ever since I met him, I knew-just by looking into his eyes-that he would be the person to change this school, to change the students... and he just doesn't know it yet, which is adorable in a sense.
I just hope I can make the most of our tutoring sessions for the time being.
I said to myself as I yawned and stood up, heading to bed once my hair was dry, lying down to go to sleep
Timeskip.
Y/N Pov:
As I walked through the hallway of the second floor, I was looking at the nameplates of the rooms I passed in search of the Student Council room, I just finished my last class and was heading to meet Optinessa for our first tutor sessions as we discussed.
And eventually after sometime I found the student council room.
I took a deep breath before knocking on the door to the student council room. My palms were already sweating, but I wasn't sure if it was because of the upcoming math lesson or the fact that I'd be alone with Optinessa.
The door clicked open, and there she stood-Optinessa Prime, the flawless president of the Autogals, a vision of calm strength. Her blue eyes met mine, and she gave a small smile, stepping aside to let me in.
"Y/N, right on time," she said, motioning to the desk in the center of the room. "Let's get started."
I shuffled over to the desk, setting down my books. "Yeah, uh... ready as I'll ever be for math," I chuckled nervously.
Optinessa POV:
I couldn't help but smile at his awkwardness. There was something endearing about Y/N's sincerity, even if he wasn't the most gifted at mathematics.
"We'll start with the basics and build up," I said, sitting down beside him and opening his textbook. "Don't worry, I've tutored plenty of students before."
But tutoring him felt different.
I cleared my throat, keeping my tone professional. "Let's go over quadratic equations."
Y/N POV:
She made it sound so simple. Easy, even. But the second she started explaining the formula, I felt my brain turning into mush.
"Uh... so the 'x' goes where?" I scratched my head, looking at the mess I had written on my notebook.
Optinessa stifled a giggle, and for a moment, I saw something in her eyes-a glimpse of warmth that wasn't usually there.
"You need to factor first, remember?" She leaned in, pointing to the equation. "Like this."
Her shoulder brushed against mine, and my heart skipped a beat. Stay calm, Y/N. She's just helping with math... Right?
Optinessa POV:
His confusion was almost... cute. Y/N wasn't the worst student, but the way he struggled, it was hard not to laugh.
"Here," I said, leaning a little closer to guide his hand. "Try this."
When our hands touched, I felt it-just a brief flutter in my chest. It was unexpected. I didn't pull away immediately, and neither did he.
For a split second, I wondered if he noticed, but I quickly pushed the thought aside. I needed to stay focused.
Y/N POV:
I nodded, though my brain was still stuck on the fact that she was so close. I could smell the faint scent of her perfume, mixed with the warmth of her skin. Focus, Y/N, focus!
"Okay, okay... I think I got it," I said, trying to copy what she had just done. Of course, I didn't. My equation looked like I had just scribbled random letters on the page.
Optinessa giggled again-this time, not bothering to hide it.
"You're hopeless," she teased, her lips curling into a soft smile.
"Hey! I'm trying here," I protested, feigning offense, though it was impossible not to smile back.
Optinessa POV:
I couldn't remember the last time I felt so... light. His struggle was almost charming, and despite myself, I found it hard to stay in the strict, professional role I was used to.
I sat back, watching as he tried again. His brows furrowed in concentration, the tip of his tongue peeking out as he scribbled on the page.
"You know," I began, my voice a little softer, "you don't have to take it so seriously. I'm here to help, not make you feel bad."
He glanced up at me, and for the first time in a long time, I allowed myself to relax.
Y/N POV:
Wait, did Optinessa just lighten up? It wasn't the usual stoic, perfect version of her. She looked... human. And way more beautiful like this.
"I'm not taking it too seriously!" I said, a little too defensively, but I couldn't help but laugh. "Maybe I just like getting your attention."
As soon as the words left my mouth, I realized how lame they sounded. Great, now she's gonna think I'm a complete dork.
To my surprise, she didn't look annoyed. Instead, she giggled-again-and even shook her head, amused.
"Is that so?" she asked, raising a brow. "Well, if you want my attention, you'll have to solve this next equation properly."
Optinessa POV:
I wasn't used to teasing. Not like this. But Y/N had a way of disarming me, of making me feel... normal.
I watched as he struggled through the next problem, his focus shifting between the paper and me. He was clearly distracted, but I didn't mind.
"Are you even trying?" I asked, crossing my arms, though my voice held no real bite.
"I swear I am!" he insisted, laughing at his own mistakes.
We locked eyes for a moment, and I realized how easy it was to be around him. Maybe too easy. Just seeing him smile and overall enjoy studying while trying his best...even if he gets the equation wrong almost everytime.
It takes me back when I used to tutor Bee..and when I used to study with HER..
Y/N Pov
As I finished my eighth try of the answer sheet Optinessa provided me, I looked up from my paper to find her with her chin resting on her palm, watching me.
Although her eyes were on me, it seemed like her thoughts were far away. I cleared my throat to get her attention and pushed the paper towards her with a smile.
"Okay, I'm finished again."
I said to Optinessa, who blinked a few times before sitting up straight and taking the answer sheet in her hand. She pulled out her red pen and began checking the questions and my answers.
After seven minutes of intense, anxious waiting, and the sound of her pen scribbling, she handed the sheet back with a perfect score at the top, along with a cute smiley face.
"I'm so proud of you, Y/N. When I was tutoring Bee, it took her 11 tries to perfect my answer sheet."
Optinessa giggled. I guess that's her way of saying I'm not that dumb. But wow, Bee took longer than me? I feel kinda proud... sorry, Bee.
"Whew... I didn't expect our first session to take this long. It's already past the curfew for students. We'll continue tomorrow, Y/N."
. . . .
After we finished, Optinessa locked the student council room. We were walking side by side through the halls, heading to exit the school. It was already dark, and the janitors were cleaning.
I can't believe this is the second time I've walked side by side with her... and I forgot how wonderful it felt. I mean, being in the presence of someone as amazing as her. Of course, it felt a little intimidating but also comforting.
"By the way, I heard from Smokescreen that there was a basketball incident and you got a black eye. Does it still hurt?"
Optinessa suddenly asked, snapping me out of my thoughts as we left the school and she walked me toward the boys' dormitory.
"Yeah, it still kinda hurts, but not as much anymore. I'm alright, though, thanks for-"
My words were cut off when she suddenly reached for my cheek. Her hand was so soft, and her thumb gently rubbed over the bruise on my left eye, making me wince slightly. She looked down at me with a sad expression.
"You poor thing... honestly, that girl is just as reckless as Bee. But I'm glad you didn't get hurt too badly."
She said, pulling her hand away. I stood there, my cheeks flushed and my mouth slightly open in surprise.
"Oh, and we're here, Y/N. You should get some rest. Don't forget to review the notes I gave you. I expect you to perfect my answer sheets tomorrow and the following days with fewer tries, okay?"
"And Y/N... if you pass your midterms and manage to get a spot on the Honors list when the grades come out, I'll have a surprise for you, okay?"
With one last smile, Optinessa turned and walked away. I stood there, still entranced by her touch, as I sighed softly.
"Yep, she's amazing."
Though I wonder what she meant by surprise? Ah, never mind that! Now I have a new goal, and that's to improve my grades and snag a spot on the Honors list.
Optinessa's POV
I touched him... I touched him, I touched him!
As I walked back to the female dorm building, my entire face was bright red, and my cheeks were hot to the touch. I've never been so bold as to touch someone so gently like that.
"Uwah... Y/N L/N, you are going to be the death of me someday!"
I exclaimed to myself, shaking my head to clear my mind. With one last sigh, I entered my room and leaned against my door.
Y/N... do your best, okay?
(Author's Notes: Wow it's been a while huh? Hehe 8 months...damn. this is my first time writing a part with back and forth perspectives, but I guess to show what they're feeling. I hope you guys like it. And let me knowh which Autogal or Deceptigal you want to be featured next. I'm back baby!)
